Lucia and George had just touched down in Mexico. They attracted curious stares from everyone, especially since Lucia was wearing her wedding gown.
“I ran away so quickly. I didn’t take my phone, and I have no idea how we’ll get back home,” she said with a shy smile.
“It’s alright; I have some cash left. We’ll grab a taxi,” George assured her.
“I’ve never been in a taxi before,” Lucia admitted.
“You’ll be fine,” George said, giving her an encouraging smile. He hailed a taxi, which was a far cry from the limo Lucia was used to, but she shook it off. After all, when they got home, she would be back to her luxurious life.

“What’s going on?” she demanded, lifting the hem of her wedding gown as she walked toward the officers. “Why are you here, and where are you taking my car?”
“Your property is under Mr. Landon, and we received orders from him to evict you,” the senior officer replied.
“Bullshit! I need to reach my dad right now! Give me your phone!” Lucia shouted, her anger flaring.
An officer handed her a phone, and she dialed her father’s number. After several rings, he picked up.
“What the hell are you doing? Why did you send officers to my apartment? They’re taking away my car and everything, Dad!” Lucia complained.
“Your apartment? The one I got you? And the car I bought for you? Have you forgotten, Lucia? Everything you have, I built it for you. I made sure you went to a good school, ensuring you were highly respected and comfortable, but all you did was bring shame to the family,” Mr. Landon replied.
“So this is what this is about, right?” Lucia said, her voice thick with anger.

Lucia looked around, on the verge of tears. A truck drove her car away, and there was nothing she could do about it.
“Let’s go,” George whispered to her.
“But where will we go?” Lucia asked, feeling lost.
“I know a place,” he replied.

George and Lucia walked for hours. Lucia’s breathing became ragged, and she struggled to feel her legs.
“Are we getting there anytime soon, George?” she asked, exhaustion creeping into her voice.
“We’ll be there soon,” George reassured her.
