“Is she really worth it, Alejandro? Everything you’ve worked so hard for—your company—does it mean more to you than her?”

Alejandro glanced at Camila, then at the documents, torn between two impossible choices.

“You’re wrong, Rafael! I didn’t just think about it—I worked hard for that company. I deserve everything. Every damn thing!” Alejandro yelled, his eyes reddening with rage.

“No, you didn’t, you bastard! Everything belongs to me! Grandpa was supposed to give it all to me, but I don’t know why you came along and ruined everything!” Rafael shouted, then turned to Camila.

“He didn’t tell you much, did he? He never told you how he barged into my life, stole the affection of my family, and convinced them to change the will,” Rafael said angrily.

“I didn’t have anyone change anything!” Alejandro shot back. “Everything happened because apparently, everyone was okay with it. I did more good for your family than you’ll ever admit.”

Even though Camila was gagged, her confused and curious expression spoke volumes about her thoughts on their argument.

Alejandro turned to her, his tone softening. “There’s no need to hide this from you anymore, and I’m telling you because I’m letting it all go. You think I disliked you because you broke my heart as a kid, but that’s far from the truth. I was deeply mad at myself because while chasing you, I wasn’t there to protect my family, and they died. I was so angry with myself that I couldn’t contain it, so I shifted the blame onto you.”

“I thought blaming someone else would make me feel better. Along the way, after countless job hunts, I found a family who accepted me—my current family.”

“Tell her how you stole my family from me!” Rafael interjected furiously.

“I didn’t steal anyone, Rafael! You never wanted me as a brother, and I don’t need you as one either!” Alejandro snapped. “Grandpa liked me and saw potential in me. That’s why he let me inherit Ruiz Royal Estate.”

“Which was originally meant to be Marcus Royal Estate, but you stole it and changed the name!” Rafael spat.

“I didn’t steal anything. Everything I have, I earned!” Alejandro retorted heatedly.

“It doesn’t matter, Alejandro. You’re going to have to pick one—your wife or your company!” Rafael declared as he approached Camila. He ungagged her.

“I hope you pick your company because there’s no use in taking me back. Your company is already going bankrupt. You’ll lose it either way, and I can’t be with a man who can’t provide for me or my family,” Camila said coldly.

Alejandro stared at her, disbelief clouding his features.

“You don’t mean that, Camila,” he said quietly.

“Wake up, Alejandro. I only married you because of my family—that’s always been my priority. If you can’t provide for them anymore, then there’s no point in being with you. Save your cheap company and sign the divorce papers,” Camila responded icily.

Alejandro shook his head, his heart breaking.

THERESA’S PLACE***

Lucia sat on the couch, feeling bored as she waited for George to come home. He had just opened the restaurant today and insisted she stay back to avoid overexerting herself.

The doorbell rang, and Lucia sprang from her seat, thinking it was George. But when she opened the door, she found a man dressed as a wealthy butler. She assumed her father had sent him, but she didn’t recognize him.

“Is George Williams here?” the man asked in a polished accent.

“Why are you looking for George?” Lucia asked suspiciously.

“It’s urgent. His father is dying, and his presence is required at home,” the butler replied.

Theresa stepped in, her face lined with confusion.

“Who are you?” she asked, bewildered.

Moments later, George returned.

“Baby, I’m back—” he began excitedly but froze when he saw the butler standing beside Lucia, Theresa, and Perri.

“Young Master, long time no see,” the butler greeted with a respectful bow. George blinked, caught off guard.

“Your presence is needed at home, young master. Your father is dying and wishes to see you one last time,” the butler said solemnly.

“What’s going on, George?” Lucia asked, her voice tinged with confusion.

BACK TO RAFAEL’S SCENE***

“Time is running out, and I’m losing patience. You don’t want to know what I’ll do if I’m delayed. Sign one of the papers!” Rafael barked angrily.

Camila’s heart broke at seeing Alejandro in such a helpless position, but there was nothing she could do. She silently hoped he would sign the divorce papers.

Alejandro picked up the pen, his gaze lingering on the ownership of Ruiz Royal Estate and the divorce papers one last time before signing them. Tears threatened to spill from Camila’s eyes, but she held them back.

“I hope you can finally leave me alone now that you’ve gotten what you wanted,” Alejandro said, handing the file back to Rafael.

“For the first time ever, I’m proud of you, Alejandro. You made the right choice,” Rafael said with a smug smile as Alejandro clenched his fists tightly.

“Don’t worry, brother. Camila is in safe hands. We’ll get married soon, and I’ll personally send you an invitation to the wedding,” Rafael taunted before turning to Camila.

“You see the difference between me and Alejandro? I would give up everything to keep you, but he wouldn’t. He values his company more than he’ll ever value you,” Rafael whispered to her before pulling her into a kiss.

Alejandro watched, his fists clenched so tightly that blood began to drip from his knuckles.
