FEW DAYS LATER**
A few days had passed, and a lot had happened. Alejandro left Camila with Rafael and returned to his company. The place was desolate; nearly everyone had resigned, and he had lost most of his contracts but couldn’t do anything about it.
It was the usual, uneventful day. Alejandro stood in front of his window, staring into nothingness. The company was empty. He had no idea where to start or how to convince anyone to return, but that wasn’t what was truly bothering him.
He still couldn’t believe he wasn’t with Camila. He had signed the divorce papers and left her with Rafael. Even now, he still questioned whether he had made the right decision. He wasn’t a fool; he knew why she said what she did. Rafael probably had her family under his control in some way, and Alejandro wouldn’t be selfish enough to let him hurt them.
“Boss,” a familiar voice called. Alejandro didnโt bother turning to look at the person.
“You should be lucky I havenโt had you arrested yet you still have the nerve to show up here,” Alejandro said calmly.
Diego looked down at his feet, feeling regretful.
“I can’t forgive myself for what I did. The truth is, I was afraid to leave Rafaelโs regime because I thought he might hurt my family. I followed his orders and did everything he asked of me. Now I realize Iโll never be free of him,” Diego said, shaking his head.
Alejandro turned to face him. “Why are you telling me this?” he asked.
“I donโt like Rafael either, and if we donโt stop him, I donโt know what will happen in the future,” Diego said. “He still thinks I work for him, and he plans to plant a bomb in your company after marrying Miss Camila.”
Hearing that, Alejandroโs heart sank.
“Boss, he has Miss Camilaโs family with him right now, and sheโll be forced to follow his orders. Miss Camila is an angel. You canโt let her stay with him, boss,” Diego urged.
“Please let me participate in taking him down then I would leave. I want to save my family too boss” Diego pleaded.
“Youโre right,” Alejandro nodded. “I canโt let Camila be with that monster. We need to stop him somehow.”
“I have an idea, boss, but itโs risky,” Diego mumbled, and Alejandro simply stared at him.

A FEW DAYS AGO, WILLIAMS’ RESIDENCE**
The limo that carried George and Lucia from the airport in Germany came to a halt at the entrance of his family estate. The chauffeur was quick to open the door for them, not letting them do it themselves.
George stepped out and helped Lucia down. As they made their way inside, several bodyguards and maids greeted him respectfully.
“Welcome back, Mr. William!”
Lucia looked around, amazed at the size of the mansion, which was twice the size of her own home. There was even a statue of George and his father on one side of the company.
“George, whatโs going on?” Lucia asked, feeling confused.
“Iโll explain everything to you, but letโs see my father first,” George replied as they headed in. The maids helped them open the door, and Lucia was stunned by the sight before her.
The living room was expansive, surrounded by fine ceramics and paintings.
“Mr. George, good to see you again,” an older woman said with a polished accent, eyeing Lucia curiously.
George squeezed Luciaโs hand. “This is my wife,” he said, and Luciaโs eyes widened in disbelief.
“Oh, dear, forgive my manners. Iโm Pani Karolina, the household manager,” the woman introduced herself. Lucia was still a bit confused.
“Pani can also be referred to as Mrs.,” Karolina added, and Lucia nodded.
“Okay, your father is this way,” Karolina said, leading them up the stairs toward George’s father’s room. Upon arrival, she gave a respectful nod and stepped back.
George sighed and tried to open the door. He turned to see that Lucia wasnโt following him and gave her a questioning look.
“Are you sure you want me here?” Lucia asked. George nodded, and she followed him inside.
On the bed, a sick man lay with a woman gently placing a wet rag on his face. When the woman heard the door open, she turned toward them, her face lighting up.
“George, darling!” she cried, rushing toward him to hug him. Lucia stepped aside, staring at the woman. She could see the striking resemblance and realized it was George’s mother.
“George,” came a weak voice, and George pulled away from his mother to approach his father, who looked frail and pale. Georgeโs eyes filled with tears.
“Iโm sorry, Dad,” he murmured, his voice trembling. “I shouldnโt have left.”
“I didnโt call you here to apologize,” Mr. William said, coughing weakly. “I want to apologize to you. I made things hard for you and forced you to do things you didnโt want to do.”
“Itโs okay, Dad. Iโm doing better now,” George replied softly, signaling Lucia to come forward.
“I want you to meet someone,” George said, pulling Lucia closer. “This is Lucia Landon, my wife, and weโre expecting our first baby together.”
Juliana gasped. “When did all of this happen?” she asked.
“I shouldโve told you sooner, but I made a vow never to come back until I achieved what I wanted,” George said.
Mr. William reached for Luciaโs hand, and she grasped it. “Welcome to the Williams family, my dear,” he said.
“Thank you… Dad,” Lucia smiled warmly.
“So, how did you survive alone? Where have you been? It took us so long to find you,” Juliana asked.
“I wasnโt alone. I had amazing people who took me in as family,” George answered with a smile.
PRESENT DAY**
Luciaโs phone rang, and it was Theresa calling. She glanced at George, who was still chatting with his mother, before picking up the call.
“Mom?” Lucia answered.
“Lucia, your mother is here,” Theresa informed her.
“Is that Lucia? I want to speak to her!” Lucia could hear her mother’s voice in the background. Theresa handed the phone to Mrs. Landon.
“Lucia, baby, where are you?” Mrs. Landon asked, worried.
“Iโm not in the country right now, Mom,” Lucia replied.
“What? Where are you?” Mrs. Landon gasped.
“Iโm in Germany. And before you ask, Iโll explain everything later because itโs a long story,” Lucia said quickly.
“Lucia!” Mrs. Landon scolded. “You shouldnโt be traveling when youโre expecting a baby. Your father told me youโre pregnant. How did you get to Germany?”
“Yes, Iโm pregnant, and I came here to see Georgeโs family. Itโs a long story, Mom. Please, let me explain later,” Lucia replied, cutting the call despite her motherโs protests.
She met George, who was chatting with his mother.
“Lucia, my dear, youโve been standing for a while. Would you like to sit?” Juliana asked with her attractive Polish accent.
“Iโm good,” Lucia replied.
“No, dear, please sit,” Juliana insisted, guiding Lucia to a chair. “Pani Karolina, please bring Lucia some tea,” she instructed, and Karolina appeared moments later with a steaming cup of tea.
“Hang in there, Mrs. Lucia Williams. The food will be ready in a moment,” Karolina said kindly.
“Thank you,” Lucia smiled and turned to face George.
“Darling, can I talk to you for a second?” she asked.
“Sure, Iโll excuse you both,” Juliana said, stepping away.
George sat beside Lucia. “Honey, whatโs the matter?” he asked.
“My friend Camila isnโt doing well. Her family is being held captive by Rafael Marcus, and sheโs going to be forced to marry him soon,” Lucia said, looking worried.
“Camila? As in Alejandroโs wife?” George asked, confused. Lucia nodded, confirming. “I didnโt know they were having issues.”
“Itโs a long story, but we really have to help them. Alejandro is on the brink of bankruptcy,” Lucia explained.
“A lot is happening,” George sighed. “Iโll see what I can do, but I want to bring my family over. Would it be okay if I invited your parents? I think your father might like me now?” George asked, and Lucia couldnโt help but chuckle.
