🔸(His Sweet Torture)🔸

BRIARWOOD SCHOOL**

The students gathered in the hall to pay their respects to Valeria. Her picture was placed on a table surrounded by candles.

“This is the first time we’ve ever lost a student in such a tragic manner, and it breaks my heart just thinking about it,” Principal Laurel mumbled sadly, standing beside the picture with a flower in hand.

“She was a really smart kid despite her misbehavior. She had the potential to become someone great, and I somewhat blame the school management for not doing enough to make sure our students were well-supported. Maybe if we had checked in on her, advised her, and talked to her when needed, she might have seen the light in things,” Principal Laurel added with a sigh before approaching Valeria’s picture.

She placed her flowers down and made the sign of the cross before stepping aside. Students followed in line until it was Isabella’s turn, the last and only one remaining.

Isabella stared at Valeria’s picture for a while. “I hope that in the afterlife, you can see things from a brighter side. I hope you learn that not everything is a competition, and I was never trying to compete with you for anything.”

“I had hoped you’d change and understand things better. I thought there was still some good left in you and that all of this was just a phase, but you proved me wrong.” Isabella wiped a tear from her eye. “When I saw you crying alone in the restroom, I thought you still had it in you; I thought maybe we could finally treat each other like sisters-in-law and not enemies. But I guess I was wrong. Valeria, you took your own life for selfish reasons, and in doing so, you destroyed your mother. Did you even think of her at all?” Isabella asked, visibly disappointed.

“She’s been crying nonstop, blaming herself—thinking that if she’d fully been there for you as a mother, you might still be alive and maybe a changed person.”

“It’s too late to scold her, don’t you think?” Ace, who had been watching from behind, walked towards Isabella.

Isabella wiped her tears.

“Clearly, if she wasn’t selfish before her death, she would’ve thought about what her actions would do to her family. But she didn’t. And the worst part of all is that she did it just to implicate my best friend. Even though he cleared his name, people still call him a murderer and blame him. She didn’t just ruin Alan’s life; she destroyed any hope of Cyber Boys reuniting,” Ace said bitterly.

“I’m sorry,” Isabella murmured.

“It’s fine,” Ace replied. “But I admire you a lot. She gave you the hardest time—not the best way to treat a sister-in-law—but after everything, you still brought flowers for her and cried for her.”

“You can’t hold a grudge against a dead person, can you?” Isabella chuckled softly. “I just hope that if there is such a thing as another life, and she comes back, she won’t be like this.”

Ace picked a petal from Isabella’s flower. “I wasn’t going to leave her anything, but you changed my mind,” he said, placing the petal on the table.

Isabella smiled, set down her flower, and they left the hall together.

“So, how has everything been?” Ace asked as they walked down the hallway together.

“Going as usual,” Isabella shrugged.

“I’m glad you’re doing well now, Isabella, and I should take this opportunity to apologize for everything I put you through. I should have told you what I knew sooner,” Ace said apologetically.

“It’s okay, Ace,” Isabella stopped him. “I don’t hold on to those things anymore.”

“I know, but I think it’s best to tell you now since I’m leaving this school and going back to Korea,” Ace replied.

“You’re leaving?” Isabella’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Yes. A lot is going on, and I have things I need to figure out, but I’m really going to miss you,” he said.

“Aww,” Isabella pulled him in for a hug. “Thank you for letting me share a part of your world, Ace. I wish you all the best,” she said.

“You too,” Ace smiled.

RUIZ MANSION**

“How’s your mom doing now?” Camila asked as Alejandro ended his call.

“She finally fell asleep,” Alejandro sighed.

“No parent wants to bury their own child. I hope she recovers soon,” Camila murmured.

“Hmm,” Alejandro nodded. “I spoke to my grandparents earlier. They were saddened by Valeria’s death and regretted not spending more time with her. They’ve asked us to visit tomorrow, and there’s no room for rejection,” Alejandro informed.

“But aren’t your grandparents in Texas?” Camila asked, narrowing her eyes.

“Don’t worry; my private jet will get us there on time. We’ve been working so much lately. For once, I want to relax—with you by my side,” Alejandro said, making Camila smile.

“One more thing—I don’t know if you’re aware, but Chandler told me,” Alejandro added.

“What did he tell you?” Camila asked.

“He told me that Lucia married her bodyguard,” he replied, and Camila’s eyes nearly popped out in shock.
