Camila had come here for her lunch break, but Alejandro’s cold reaction earlier kept playing in her mind. She sat at the counter, massaging her temples.

“Can I get your best drink, please?” she asked tiredly.

The bartender handed her a menu, and she ordered a cocktail. It was soon served, and she took a sip, trying to relax.

“Drinking alone in the afternoon? Marriage troubles?” a familiar voice teased, taking the seat beside her.

Camila didn’t need to look to know who it was.

“Who said you could sit here?”

“It’s a pub, Camila. Anyone can sit anywhere,” Rafael replied casually, eyeing her drink. “That looks refreshing. What’s it called?”

“There’s a menu. You don’t have to talk to me,” Camila snapped.

“We’re not enemies, Camila. I’m just rivals with your husband,” Rafael shrugged.

“A rival who doesn’t know how to play fair. You should be ashamed,” Camila scoffed.

Rafael smirked and turned to the bartender. “I’ll have what she’s having.”

As the bartender prepared his drink, Rafael continued, “It’s business, my dear. No one plays fair. So, what did he do this time? Why are you drinking alone?”

“None of your business,” Camila muttered.

Rafael chuckled to himself. “You’re defending him, yet he left you here, alone in the middle of the day.”

“Watch your mouth, Rafael!” Camila shot him a glare.

“My bad,” Rafael pretended to zip his lips as the bartender handed him his drink. He thanked him and took a sip.

They sat in silence until a woman took the stage.

“Good afternoon, everyone! Sorry to interrupt, but I need your help singing a birthday song for my husband,” she said, holding a microphone. “He’s been working hard all his life, and I brought him to his favorite pub today to celebrate.”

“Honey, you didn’t have to do this,” a man somewhere in the crowd said, flustered.

The woman ignored him. “On the count of three, everyone!”

As the crowd began singing, Camila watched them, sipping her drink. She couldn’t help but think of what had happened earlier. She had only wanted to surprise Alejandro, but he’d reacted so coldly.

It was too much. She stood up abruptly and left the pub. Rafael followed her.

“Camila, are you okay?” he asked, grabbing her hand as she reached her car. To his surprise, she was crying.

“You’re crying,” he said, shocked.

“Just leave me alone, Rafael! What do you want from me? I’m married!” she shouted through her tears.

“I don’t care, Camila! If you were mine, I’d never let you feel this way. I wouldn’t let you end up in a pub, crying in the middle of the day. I’d make sure you never shed a tear!” Rafael shouted back.

Camila stood frozen, speechless. She wanted to say something, but nothing came out—only more tears.

Rafael pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. “It’s okay. Let it out,” he whispered, gently stroking her hair as she sobbed.

A car pulled up before them and Alejandro stepped down, he did not look happy.

“Camila, what are you doing with him?” He tried to control his anger as he watched his hands on his pocket.

Camila pulled away from the hug, seeing Alejandro standing and looking angry began making her blood boil.

“Come here Camila!” Alejandro ordered.

“I’m not going anywhere with you” She replied angrily.

“You don’t just hurt her and expect her to walk back to you. What is wrong with you Alejandro” Rafael said but Alejandro glared at him in reply.

He faced Camila again.

“Let’s go home Camila” He said again.

“Are you deaf Alejandro? I’m not coming anywhere with you. If my decisions don’t matter to you then you’ll have to learn to start getting used to it!” Camila replied stubbornly.

Alejandro’s jaw clenched, he walked towards her and grabbed her hands to pull her but Rafael held her other hand.

“She said she’s not going anywhere with you!” Rafael gave him a thick glare.

Alejandro could feel his blood boiling, he was holding back the urge to throw Rafael a bloody punch on his face.

“Let her go!” Alejandro said dangerously.

“You let her go!”

Camila freed her hands from the both of them.

“Or the both of you can leave me and stay the fuck away from my life!” She yelled before going to her car and driving off.

Alejandro didn’t have the time to argue with Rafael, he entered his car to follow Camila while Rafael stood there, clenching his fist.

Camila checked her car window and she could see Alejandro following her behind. She increased her car speed.

“Camila you’ll have to stop this nonsense!” Alejandro murmured, increasing the speed of his car to meet up with her.

They both drove like they didn’t have control of their car and at last, Alejandro’s car moved past Camila’s car, he blocked her so he won’t be able to move.

“Camila this has to stop” He said, coming down from his car.

Camila angrily came down from the car and walked to him.

“What the hell do you want from me! I didn’t sleep last night! I just wanted to surprise you because you work too much that you don’t even have time for yourself and your birthday but you made me feel like sh*t!” She yelled at him.

“Camila-” Alejandro wanted to talk but Camila was not done.

“If you didn’t like birthdays, you would have just told me earlier or a simple thank you I appreciate even though you were not going to eat the fucking cake would have been great!” She yelled again, crying.

“Camila-”

“Then you had to remind me that you still held on to those dumbass rules you invented. You made me look fucking stupid Alejandro, I hate you! I hate you!” Camila began hitting his chest and crying.

“I don’t want to see you again! Why don’t you just go work yourself out. Do you need me to tell Diego to add more-

She couldn’t complete her words when Alejandro pulled her towards him and forcefully pressed his lips on hers, shutting her up with a kiss.
