Lucia had been restless ever since her parents shocked her with the news of moving to New York to get married.
“Miss Lucia, here’s the hot cup of coffee you ordered,” her assistant said as she entered the office with a mug. She flashed a smile at George, who didn’t return it.
Lucia was so engrossed in her thoughts that she accidentally spilled the coffee on her hand.
“Ouch!” she screamed, and George quickly rushed to her.
He took her hand and began blowing on it gently. Luckily, the burn wasn’t severe, so he asked for a bag of ice to soothe her hand.
“Ouch, gently—it hurts,” Lucia winced as the bag touched her arm.
George sighed, resisting the urge to press the bag harder. “I don’t know what’s wrong with you sometimes. You’re an adult, but you act like a child. Just look at what you did to yourself!” he scolded her.
Lucia pouted, wondering why he was making her nervous when she was his boss.
“Uh, will you move to New York with me?” she suddenly asked, and George let go of her hand.
“I’ll pay you triple,” she added before he could respond.
“It wasn’t part of our agreement,” George said, trying to stay calm.
“It wasn’t part of mine either, and I’m a busy woman. Things change, and I would like you to come to New York with me. You have no choice, George. It’s part of your job unless you want to quit,” she said, smirking.
George was silent for a moment before asking, “That deal where you said you’d pay me triple, is it still on?”
“You sly devil,” Lucia scoffed, shaking her head.

“Did you hear what happened? Isabella is so messed up right now,” Chappell said to Abby, Gloria, and Valeria at their lockers.
“Who cares? She deserves it anyway,” Abby said, rolling her eyes.
“I just think it’s too much for one person to handle. Imagine falling for someone only to find out they’re gay. Valeria, shouldn’t you be upset too? Elijah used you,” Chappell pointed out, glancing at Valeria, who responded with an eye roll.
“Guess who outed his gay ass?” Valeria smirked.
“No way, you didn’t!” Gloria and Abby gasped, clearly fascinated.
“I did. And I’ll do the same to anyone who tries to cross me. I’ll ruin them,” she stated, her voice carrying an ominous undertone that sent shivers down their spines. The thought of their own secrets being exposed made them uneasy.
“Anyway,” Valeria clapped her hands, snapping them back to the present, “it’s the end of the day, and I need to get home early. See you guys tomorrow?”
“Yeah, see you tomorrow,” they echoed, waving in unison as she walked away, her steps graceful and composed.
Chappell waited until Valeria was out of sight before speaking. “I think I might be a bit scared of her. Don’t you guys think Valeria is… odd?” she asked cautiously.
“What are you talking about? Valeria is awesome,” Abby dismissed with a wave of her hand.
“She’s cool, yeah, but she’s also kind of… unsettling. I don’t get why she hates Isabella so much. I mean, they’re sisters-in-law. They should be bonding since their siblings are in love,” Chappell reasoned.
“Are you serious right now, Chappell? This is Isabella we’re talking about—she dated Ace,” Abby reminded her sharply.
“Yeah, she stole him from you. What a bitch,” Gloria chimed in.
“Well, Ace was never really mine in the first place, so she had every right to be with him,” Chappell mumbled.
“You’re unbelievable, Chappell. Fine, I admit Valeria can be scary, but what can we do? Do you want to end up like Elijah?” Gloria pointed out.
“I heard he’s lost almost a million followers, and it hasn’t even been twenty-four hours,” Abby added. “I can’t imagine what my life would be like without all my Instagram followers.” She shuddered at the thought.
“Relax, okay? I don’t plan to get on Valeria’s bad side,” Chappell mumbled, clearly unsettled.

Sandra arrived at the company, looking perplexed as she noticed several security personnel patrolling the office meticulously. She immediately approached a nearby female employee.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
“Apparently, there’s been an issue with theft and data breaches in the company. The boss has ordered tighter security and a thorough investigation throughout the office for the week,” the employee explained.
“Oh,” Sandra murmured, clutching her work clothes tightly, trying to calm her racing heart.
