My eyes scanned around for a moment, and I took note of the familiar furnitures, that’s when I realized we’re currently in our mansion in LA.
I smiled in contentment, but suddenly frowned when I remembered Fatima and Lucas.
“Then what’s going on? Where’s Fatima and Lucas? Why is nanny talking about an ambush? Are they ok?” I asked with worry and concern laced in my words.
Duncan nodded.
“They’re gonna be fine, they’ll be back soon”
“They’re gonna be fine?” he nodded, but I shook my head in disagreement. “You must have forgotten, but Asher shot Fatima and she’s still recovering, how can you leave her behind to fight? Are you trying to get her killed?”
“My heartbeat, calm down… ”
“We’re talking about my best friend’s life, how do you expect me to calm down?”
He laughed lightly at my reaction.
“Fatima isn’t a fragile girl, she’s a highly trained undercover bodyguard, and most importantly, I personally trained her” he raised his left brow. “Do you think I’d train a weakling?”
I struggled a little bit and wiggled out of his arms, and stood on my feet.
“Yeah, Fatima isn’t a weakling, but she’s still injured and should be resting not fighting more battles!”
With that I headed towards a sofa, but he seemed to misunderstood me and caught my hand.
“Where are you going?” he asked, he thought I was gonna rush out to go look for Fatima.
“I’m gonna wait right here, until she gets back in one piece” with that I snatched my hand from him, and rushed towards a nearby sofa.
Nanny Pamela who’s been quiet since I woke up, cleared her throat and approached me.
“Rachel, Fatima’s gonna be fine with Lucas around her” she said.
With Lucas around her? What is he now? God?
“I wanna stay here and wait for her” I threw a harsh glare at Duncan’s way. “Who know if Lucas is like his master? Who knows if he’s gonna sell my friend off to the enemy?” I gritted out.
Nanny Pamela’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, she looked between Duncan and I, then nodded as if she’s just understood something.
“This is obviously a lover’s fight” she said. “I should go get some sleep, both of you can handle yourselves” with that she headed towards her room.
Duncan waited until nanny Pamela’s out of sight, before walking towards me and sat on the sofa next to mine.
“My heartbeat, let’s go to our room so you can freshen up and catch more sleep, doctor Luke said you should rest mo…”
“Shut up” I cut him off. “I’m not leaving here until Fatima gets back, safe and sound!” I said with finality in my voice.
He raised his hands in surrender, and nodded in agreement.
“Fine, fine” he sighed. “I’ll keep quiet and wait with you”
I wrapped my arms around my big stomach, huffed and turned away from him, which made him chuckle but I ignored him.

THIRD PERSON’S pov.
Lucas smirked when he saw the gang’s leader trying to get away, he raced towards him and pushed him to the ground, then started throwing punches at him.
“You wanna get away?” punch “What do you expect me to say to my boss if you get away?” punch “By the way, weren’t you such a talkative seconds ago?” punch “Why are you so quiet now? Aren’t I way too small for you?”
The gang leader wanted to fight back, but Lucas already shot his right arm earlier, which made it impossible for him to use his hands.
Lucas threw a few more punches at him, before getting off him and shot both his legs -he released a very loud, agonizing howl as his legs bled profusely.
“Take him back to boss’ playroom!” Lucas ordered one of his men.
“Yes, sir” then the gang leader was dragged away.
Lucas looked around, bodies were laying on the ground with blood flowing everywhere, but the bodies were mostly from the other gang.
“Watch out!” he suddenly heard Fatima’s voice.
He turned around and saw her running towards him, she pushed him out of the way and they both went stumbling over.
“Argh!” she hissed as she arched her back, and shut her eyes -she was shot in her back.
“Fuçk!” Lucas growled angrily.
He quickly aimed at the shooter and shot him countlessly, he didn’t stop until the shooter’s body dropped. Then he turned back to Fatima who’s groaning in pain, and holding her bleeding stomach.
“Are you ok?” he asked her.
He’s seemed confused as she was holding her stomach, whereas she was shot in her back.
He took a closer look at her and frowned when he noticed her face’s stained with blood, and he concluded she must have been shot in her stomach earlier.
“You joined in the fight” he stated, sounding angry. “Are you ok?”
“This.. this…” she slowly raised her head and looked straight in his eyes. “.. this is the dumbest question anyone could ask at times like this” she mocked him.
“I, I… ”
She rolled her eyeballs.
“I’m obviously not fine, hurry up and get me outta here!”
“Oh”
Lucas quickly scooped her in his arms and got on his feet, he dashed towards their car in a lightening speed, and helped her into the passenger’ seat.
“Sir?” One of their men called Lucas.
“What?!” he snapped at whoever it was, before he turned around.
“We’ve taken everyone of them down, but kept one alive, what should we do with him? Should we bring him to boss’ playroom too?”
Lucas inhaled frustratingly.
“Of course, fuçking bring him to the playroom for interrogation” he answered impatiently, then rounded the car and slide into the driver’s seat.
Fatima laughed as she stared at Lucas, which made him frown in confusion as he wondered what’s funny at this moment.
“Thankfully, you ain’t our boss” she said.
“Why did you say that?” he asked.
“You’re too strict” she answered.
“But Mr Baldwin is way stricter than me” he defended himself.
But Fatima scoffed.
“He’s only ruthless towards his enemies, he treats his workers with respect and equality”
“Don’t I treat everyone with respect and equality too?”
Fatima shook her head in disagreement.
“You won’t if you’re in his position”
He sighed.
“Well, you can always teach me how to treat others with respect and equality later” then he winked at her.
She simply rolled her eyeballs, and leaned back on the seat.
“Hurry up, I’m losing blood, you know?”
“Yeah, yeah” with that he started the car and drove off.

Baldwin’s Mansion, LA<<
Mr Baldwin rushed forward, and placed his palm under his wife’s chin as her head dropped. His eyes located the wall clock and he couldn’t help, but smiled as he studied her face.
“You wanted to wait for your friend, but ended up falling asleep just five minutes of waiting” he said.
Just then his phone started ringing, he maneuvered with his left hand since his right hand was occupied, and reached for his phone.
He saw Lucas’ name’s flashing on the screen, so he quickly answered it.
“Lucas”
“Sir, we’ve taken care of the ambush but some of our men are severely injured” he paused. “Including Fatima”
Mr Baldwin looked towards his wife immediately he heard Fatima’s injured, he felt his heart suddenly beating against his chest as though he’s scared -scared of his wife’s reaction if she hears about Fatima’s newly acquired injury.
“Should we drop by the mansion?” Lucas asked.
“No, no” Mr Baldwin answered quickly. “Take everyone back to base for treatment, contact the gang’s doctor and have her tend to everyone, I’ll drop by tomorrow morning”
“Yes, sir” Lucas replied and hanged up.
Mr Baldwin looked at his wife, then shut his eyes and inhaled deeply.
He carried his wife’s in his arms and headed upstairs, towards their room.
“My heartbeat, I’m sorry” he apologized, even though he knew she wouldn’t hear him.
