Mr Baldwin gave him an impatient look, and urged him to continue his words.
“Why aren’t you going home, sir?” Lucas asked. “You’ve been missing your wife everyday, and wouldn’t stop trying to reach her on phone, why don’t you go home and take a look for yourself?”
Mr Baldwin shoved his hands in his pockets, walked towards the window, and heaved a deep sigh as he looked outside at his men who were training in the training ground.
“I can’t go home yet” he said. “My wife wants me to settle scores with my enemy, and I won’t go back home until I succeed”
Then there’s a moment of silence, neither Lucas nor Mr Baldwin said anything, but Mr Baldwin soon broke the silence with a question.
“I asked you to investigate Asher’s mother, any results yet?” he asked.
“Yes, sir”
He raised his eyebrows at Lucas to proceed.
“Our men has found out her hideout, but she hasn’t been seen around there lately, and I ordered our men to find out what she’s up to recently”
“Hm” Mr Baldwin hummed.
“And we found out she’s someone we’ve known all along” Lucas paused briefly. “She’s been living in your mansion”
Mr Baldwin frowned deeply at Lucas’ words, as he tried to figure out where Asher’s mom has been hiding in his mansion, without his knowledge.
“What do you mean?” he asked, when he couldn’t figure it out.
“Asher’s mom is the enemy we’ve been looking for, the mistress with whom your father cheated on your mother, and she’s…” Lucas cleared his throat mid-sentence. “…Mrs Jackson!” he dropped the bombshell.
Mr Baldwin snapped his head towards him (Lucas) at once, with a shocked expression.
“What?!” he growled lowly.
“Yes, sir, here’s her profile” Lucas said and stretched out a file.
Mr Baldwin opened the file and stared at it with his eyes narrowed in anger.
“Are you sure of this?” he asked, finding it hard to believe what he’s seeing.
“Yes, sir”
Lucas reached for his briefcase and pulled out some photos and handed them to Mr Baldwin too.
“We scouted Mr Ferrari’s home yesterday and saw these photos”
Mr Baldwin’s grip on the photos tightened when his eyes landed on a particular photo, it’s a photo of Mr Ferrari and Mr Baldwin’s mother, it’s a group wedding photo and from their attire one could tell it’s their wedding, they were even hugging each other, but Mr Ferrari’s eyes were on another woman who in turn was glaring at Mr Baldwin’s mother.
Taking a closer look, Mr Baldwin realized the woman was Mrs Jackson, and great anger pumped through his veins.
“Mr Ferrari woke up last night and confirmed this himself, he said she’s your mother’s murderer” Lucas said.
Mr Baldwin smashed the photos on the ground, and stomped on them.
“That b@stard had never love or been faithful to my mother!” he roared. “He contributed to my mother’s death!”
Then Mr Baldwin tensed when something suddenly crossed his mind, and blood drained off his face as his eyes widened in fear.
“My family” he muttered under his breath.
“Your family?” Lucas sounded confused, he doesn’t seem to understand what Mr Baldwin’s trying to say.
“My family’s in grave danger!” he growled.
He threw the file at Lucas, and ran towards the door as though his life depended on it, Lucas dropped his briefcase on the table and quickly rushed after his boss.

RACHEL’S pov.
Baldwin’s Mansion, LA<<
Why isn’t Fatima here yet? Why is she taking so long to get here?
My phone started ringing, and I reached for it on the bedside table. I checked the caller’s ID, but realized it’s an unknown number.
“Hello?” I answered the call.
“Mrs Baldwin” a familiar, female voice said from the other side, which made me frown.
Mrs Baldwin? Nobody knows I’m married to Duncan Baldwin, who could this person be? How did she know I’m Duncan’s wife?
“Who is this?” I asked.
“Who is this?” she asked me back. “It’s been just a few months, and you can’t even recognize my voice anymore?”
I frowned.
Don’t tell me this is who I’m thinking it is.
“How did you enjoy your pizza?”
Of course, it’s her… Tasha Wood!
“What do you want, Tasha?”
I heard a sigh from her.
“Listen, Rachel” there’s a very short pause. “I know I’ve been unfair to you, and you might not believe me but trust me, I wanna help you”
Help me? Tasha Wood wanna help me? Or are my ears not working fine now?
“I know who Duncan’s enemy is, and I know a lot of things about her, but you must meet up with me before I tell you anything else”
“You know who Duncan’s enemy is?”
“Yeah”
“Oh” I raised my brows. “Then why can’t you tell me now? Why must we meet up?” I asked suspiciously.
“You’re waiting for your best friend to come, right?”
I didn’t reply her, because I was wondering how she managed to know I’m actually waiting for Fatima.
“Trust me, your friend won’t survive a day with her, she’s ruthless and your friend isn’t safe with her”
“Who’s she?” I asked.
“I’ll send you an address, come over if you wanna know more about her, and most importantly, if you wanna save your friend” with that she hanged.
Isn’t Tasha just bluffing me? Fatima’s a trained mafia lady, she can’t be kidnapped so easily, right?
My eyes moved to the wall clock, it’s already 2pm and Fatima isn’t here yet, and I called her almost one hour ago -could it be Tasha’s right?
I found myself subconsciously dialing Fatima’s number, her phone started ringing but she didn’t pick up, until it went to voicemail.
I tried a few more times, but each of my calls went straight to voicemail, and I couldn’t help but fear for Fatima’s life.
What’s going on? How did they managed to kidnap someone as strong as Fatima?
Maybe I should call Duncan, but then I remembered I can’t get through to him via phone.
Hmm, it seems like it’s left for me to trust Tasha.
