THIRD PERSON’S pov.
Lucas suddenly stepped on the brakes, which made him and Fatima jerked forward as the car came to an abrupt stop.
He looked ahead of them, but squinted his eyes as bright headlights shone directly in his eyes, and blinded his vision.
He faced Fatima whose eyes were also squinted, but her hand was already reaching for her gun and she was ready to jump out of the car at any second.
“Hey” he called her softly, and she faced him with a frown. “Don’t come out, just stay in here, let me and the guys take care of them” he told her.
She raised her left eyebrow at him.
“What is that supposed to mean? Are you underestimating me?” she asked.
His eyes widened slightly, and he quickly shook his head.
“No, not at all”
“Then why are telling me to stay in the car?” she asked.
Lucas stared at her for a brief moment, then he sighed and reached for the gun in her hand, and gently collected it from her.
“You’re hurt” he said.
She looked down at her shoulder that was bandaged, and her mind flashed back to what happened in Asher’s house three days ago, and how she had sustained the injury.
“I just wanna protect you”
“I don’t need your protection, I’m a highly trained warrior and I can protect myself perfectly fine” she told him.
Fatima turned away from him, and made an attempt to jump out of the car, but he caught her hand, pulled her back and shut her door.
“I know you’re a warrior, but you’re also a woman and shouldn’t take it upon yourself to fight at every given opportunity”
“What are…”
He placed a finger on her lips, which shushed him, and she looked seriously in his eyes.
“I don’t know if you’re not getting all the signs I’ve been showing you, but I…” he trailed off.
She tilted her head slightly, raising one of her eyebrows and urging him to finish his words.
“You what?”
He shut his eyes and shook his head.
“I.. I’m…”
“Hey, Duncan Baldwin!” he heard someone shouted from outside. “Come out and stop being a pûssy!”
Lucas looked towards the cars that stopped a few steps away from them, the headlights were already turned off and fully armed men kept jumping out of the cars, with a man standing challengingly in front of one of the cars, one could tell he’s their leader and also the one who just called out Duncan Baldwin.
It’s clear that they’re here with only one purpose, and that was to shed blood.
“And you think you won’t be needing my help?” Fatima asked nodding at the men.
Lucas simply smiled at her, and shook his head in rejection of her offer to join in the fight.
“I don’t need your help, Fatty” he said. “They are nothing compared to gangs I’ve fought with, just stay in here and I’ll be back soon” he smiled at her once more, before jumping out of the car.
Fatima made an attempt to jump out too, but unfortunately for her, she couldn’t open her door which made her frown in confusion, then she gave Lucas a questioning look.
“Child lock” he mouthed at her.
Her eyes narrowed in anger as she hit the dashboard.
“Damn these child locks!” she growled underneath her breath.
“Give me five minutes, and I’ll be back” he said, the walked towards the men.

“You are not Duncan Baldwin” One of the men stated after accessing Lucas for a while -he’s their leader, and he was also the one who had called out Duncan Baldwin earlier.
“And you should thank your fuçking lucky star that you ain’t standing before him, because your head wouldn’t be sitting on your neck by now” Lucas said.
The man laughed loudly, as though Lucas had just said the funniest joke ever, then he put his hands in his pockets and leaned against a car.
“Get Duncan Baldwin here, he’s the one I wanna fight with today” he said.
“What’s your name?” Lucas asked him.
“My name?”
“Yes, what’s your name?” Lucas asked again.
He rolled his eyeballs, and lifted himself off the car.
“Boy” he called.
Lucas clenched his jaw when the man referred to him as a boy, balled his fist and glared murderously at him.
“You’re way too small for me, get Duncan here or get out of my sight before I order my men to kill you!”
“I’m afraid, you’re the one getting killed today!” Lucas gritted out angrily.
He reached for his gun, aimed it at the man and shot his (the man’s) right arm.
“I don’t miss my target” Lucas said with a smirk.
“Don’t just watch him, fuçking attack!!” the man growled, and his men rushed forward with their guns that were ready to fire.
Lucas’ men also rushed forward with their guns, and soon bullets began flying everywhere.
Agonizing howls and groans filled the air as bullets were piercing through skins, and bodies were dropping from both gangs -they were either dead, or severely injured but that didn’t stop the fight.

RACHEL’S pov.
Baldwin’s Mansion, LA<<
“… and Fatima going to be ok?” I heard nanny Pamela’s voice asking, just then I felt as though I’m floating.
“Yes, nanny” Duncan replied.
“We shouldn’t have left them behind, they should’ve come with us and let other people take care of the ambush” nanny Pamela grumbled.
Ambush? What ambush is she talking about? And why did Duncan leave Fatima and Lucas behind?
“Nanny, don’t worry about them, they’re both great fighters” Duncan said.
My eyes snapped open at his words, and I realized I was floating because Duncan’s carrying me in his arms.
“What’s going on? Where are we?” I asked.
Duncan looked down at me with a smile, but it’s obvious he’s been frowning, and he only smiled when he looked down at me.
“We just arrived home, my heartbeat” he answered.
