Yes, Fatima isn’t holding me back, but those men are. I’ve been trying to leave but I couldn’t get past them, because their boss, who is my faithfully, beloved husband, has ordered them to keep me here until he gets back.

He received a call immediately after we had breakfast, then he and Lucas left in a hurry afterwards, but he promised he’ll tell me when he gets back.
“Fatima” I called her name in a whining tone, which earned me a glare.
I shut up at once, and lounged on the sofa next to hers, then silence fell on us until she decided to break.
“You actually left without telling me” she said. “And that Mike, he’s such a bother, I can’t believe he actually helped you run away from your matrimonial home even though he was faraway!” she narrowed her eyes as she pinned the blame on Mike. “What was I expecting from a divorce lawyer?” she rhetorically questioned herself.
I rolled my eyeballs because I know she has never liked Mike, and leaving with his help has just added fuel to the fire.
“You shouldn’t blame Mike for anything, Fatty…”
“I shouldn’t blame him? Then who should I blame? You?”
“Yeah” she scoffed. “blame me because it was my idea to leave, and I even had to threaten and force Mike into helping me”
I recalled how I threatened to frame him up and almost laugh at how scared he was, but the atmosphere right now isn’t one to laugh at a joke.
“He knew you’re here in New Orleans all these while, he knew how much Duncan was suffering after you left, because I told him everything and even asked him to tell me about whereabout.. why didn’t he say anything?” her eyes narrowed even more. “And you said I shouldn’t blame him?”
“He didn’t tell you because I told him not to tell anyone…”
“Anyone? Even me? I’m included in your ‘anyone’ list too?”
“No, that’s not what I meant, I just needed some peace and quiet, I… ”
I paused, and sighed deeply.
“Fatty, I admit it was very wrong of me to leave my home like that, but it was the only thing I could do then”
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah” I answered. “Do you know how suffocating it is to stay in a home where there’s no trust? Do you know how frustrating it is for a woman, when her husband, whom she loves dearly, does things without discussing with her?”
Fatima opened her mouth to say something, but decided against it, I guess she wanna listen to what I had to say.
“I left because that was the only way to save our marriage, Duncan wouldn’t see or know what he’s doing wrong if I hadn’t leave…at least, he now knows the seriousness of communicating with one’s spouse”
There was a brief silence between us, and I reached for her hands.
“Duncan is my husband, and I know the best way to handle him” I paused. “I need to reconstruct my home before my baby’s arrival, and this is the best way to do it.. forcefully change Duncan’s bad habits”
“But you asked him to sign the divorce papers in the note you left behind”
I frowned as I tried to recall the note’s content, then I chuckled lightly.
“I knew he wouldn’t sign it, I just wanted him to have a taste of what’s gonna happen to our home if he doesn’t change his ‘lying and keeping things to himself’ habits”
“Oh”
“Yeah”
“Then what about now that he’s found you, are you still gonna continue living in that diçkhe….”
She swallowed her words when I threw hee a glare, her eyes flicked towards my stomach and she cleared her throat.
“.. Asher’s house?” she corrected herself.
I nodded towards the door.
“Do you think Duncan will let me go back to Asher’s house?” I asked her back.
Her eyes moved towards the guards standing by the door, and she shook her head.
“No, I don’t think so”
“Hm” I hummed in agreement.
I leaned back on the sofa, and closed my eyes.
“When is Duncan gonna…”
Fatima’s phone suddenly started ringing and cut me off, I decided to stay silent and let her receive her call.
“Hey, Mariah!” Fatima said, and my eyes snapped open, and saw they’re both doing a video call.
Mariah.. it’s been long since I heard from her, in fact, I haven’t heard from her since she left four months ago, because I threw my sim card away to avoid anyone from reaching me.
“.. how are your kids?” Fatima asked her.
“They’re great” Mariah answered. “How is Duncan? I haven’t heard news about his fights in bars or clubs since yesterday…”
I gave Fatima a questioning look, like, does Duncan fight in clubs and bars? Exactly how wayward did was he when I left?
“Has he found his wife yet?” Mariah asked.
Fatima glanced my way, and nodded at Mariah.
“Yeah, we’ve found the bitçh” she gritted out, then turned the camera towards me.
I closed my eyes and winced as Mariah released an overexcited and overdramatic squeal, but I laughed anyway.
“Longest time, Mariah” I said.
Her eyebrows knitted together at my words.
“Longest time?” she scoffed. “You practically abandoned us, like hell, who would’ve thought you were leaving that day”
“Right, and the bitçh wouldn’t stop saying Duncan’s a lying b@stard while she’s worse than him” Fatima piped in.
I smacked her head, and she frowned at me.
“Stop swearing in front of my kid”
“Oh”
“Yeah, oh” I mocked her. “And besides… ”
“Who’s swearing in front of my grandson?!” A very familiar voice asked.
Fatima, Mariah and I tensed at once, we exchange looks as if we were all thinking the same thing.
“Is that… ” Mariah trailed off.
“Nanny Pamela!” Fatima completed Mariah’s words.
Fatima and I looked towards the door, our mouth fell open when we saw Nanny Pamela walk in.
Nanny Pamela? Was she the one Duncan was talking with so mysteriously on the phone this morning?
