THIRD PERSON’S pov.
Baldwin’s Mansion, LA<<
Nanny Pamela stared at her phone as she checked the time again, she’s been sitting on the same sofa in the living room, and haven’t move an inch since she called Mr Baldwin.
“Are you sure he’s gonna come home?” Mrs Jackson asked, dropping a place of tangerine on the table.
Just then the door pushed open, and Mr Baldwin strode in. Nanny Pamela glared harshly at him as he approached her, her eyes moved towards the cigarettes he held between his fingers, and handcuffs dangling on his waistband.
Mr Baldwin halted abruptly, and quickly threw the cigarette outside when he locked gaze with nanny Pamela.
A grin appeared on his face, and he rushed towards her and pulled her into a hug, but she pushed him off her when the overpowering stench of wine and cigarettes hit her.
“And where are you coming from with those?” she asked, gesturing at the cuffs. “And why are you smelling like a rotten fish?” she cringed her nose in disgust.
He looked down at himself, and grinned even more.
“I was meaning to use them on my prey today, but it’s useless now since I’ve found my heartbeat” his grin widened, there’s a spark in his eyes when he mentioned his heartbeat.
Nanny Pamela frowned in surprise, she grabbed his hand and stared anxiously at him.
“Rachel? You’ve found her?” she asked anxiously.
“Not yet, but I know where to look for her now”
“Really?”
“Hm”
Nanny Pamela pulled him into a tight hug, she smiled happily and didn’t realize when tears started flowing down her cheeks.
“You’ve finally come back to your senses, you’re finally normal again” she inhaled deeply. “But you can’t get her with this stench hovering over you, she wouldn’t wanna see you, or come home with you if you’re a mess” she said, still hugging him.
Mr Baldwin cleared his throat.
“Uh.. nanny, I can’t freshen up if you don’t let go of me” he said.
Nanny Pamela realized she was still hugging him, she quickly let go of him and chuckled lightly.
“Of course” she reached for her hanky, and dabbed her eyes. “One more thing, are you really sure you’re ready to bring her home?”
“Fuรงk yes” he replied.
But his language earned him a smack, and glare from nanny Pamela.
“What I mean is, have you realize the reason she left in the first place?”
He shut his eyes and nodded slowly, then inhaled deeply and snapped his eyes open.
“Don’t worry, Nanny, I’ll go bring her home and correct all my wrongs”
He narrowed his eyes in determination.
“Last time it was all my fault for being insensitive, and I didn’t put enough efforts in our relationship, and broke her trust in me, and hurt her repeatedly”
He clenched his jaw, and balled his fists tightly beside him as though he’s mad at someone, but honestly he’s only mad at himself.
“But I’ll set things right this time, I’ll give my all to make us work again” he looked at nanny Pamela this time. “I really can’t lose her, nanny, or I’ll be totally lost”
Nanny Pamela nodded with a satisfied smile.
“Go on, son” she said.
He nodded, and he dashed towards the stairs leafing to his room.

RACHEL’S pov.
Tulane Medical Center, New Orleans<<
“Holy shi…” Asher trailed off, and peeked at me. “Holy Molly!” he quickly corrected himself, because I have warned him never to curse in front of my baby.
Yeah, I know my baby is not born yet, but I must be strict with the people around me now before his (my baby’s) arrival, because if I can’t control what they say around me and my baby now, then I can’t do it later.
“Just look at his cute little hands” Asher gushed as he stared at the utrasound screen in excitement, he reached out his hand as though he wanna touch it.
I turned my eyes away from the screen, and gave him a questioning look.
“He’s still so little, how can you tell those are actually his hands?”
“You can call it a father’s instincts” he simply replied, which earned him a glare from me.
“Father?” he nodded. “Whose father?”
His eyes flicked to my exposed stomach, but I quickly pulled down my blouse, and his eyes stared back at my face.
“Our son’s”
I smacked his head, and quickly shifted my chair a little away from his.
“He’s my son, and he has a father who’s still very much alive, healthy and filthy rich” I smirked. “And trust me on this, he isn’t someone you’d wanna snatch his son from, so back off!”
He rolled his eyeballs at me, and was about saying something but doctor Linda cleared her throat, and we both turned our attention to her.
“Miss Zhou” doctor Linda called me. “I can see your baby is very smart and healthy, which means you’ve been in a very good lately” she raised her brows questioningly.
I nodded with a small smile, then she glared at Asher who’s reading through some test results.
“I can see your boyfriend’s doing a good job taking super care of you” she smiled. “I hope you both reconcile soon, because it’s gonna be very beneficiary for your baby”
I frowned at her words, and quickly shook my head in disagreement.
“No, no, you’re getting it wrong” I told her.
“I’m getting it wrong?”
“Yes, he’s not my boyfriend” I said, then threw Asher a glare. “Stop saying you’re my son’s father, you’re giving everyone the wrong impression our relationship!” I gritted out to him.
He laughed, then turned to face doctor Linda.
“Yeah, doctor, I’m not her boyfriend” I nodded in agreement. “But I’ll be soon” he added later.
I gasped unbelievably, and smacked his shoulder again.
“Stop saying that, will you?!”
“Stop saying what? That I wanna marry you?” he asked teasingly, because he knew I’m not finding it funny at all.
I glared at him, but he ignored my glaring eyes and looked down at my stomach with a wide grin.
“Listen, our baby is already calling me daddy”
“Asher, stop!” I snapped, then folded my arms on my chest angrily.
“You’re both cute together” doctor Linda said, which boasted Asher’s morale even more.
“Right?” he asked.
“Yeah, you look and sound like a married couple”
If only he knows my husband (well, ex-husband) is far more handsome than Asher, we both make a much better pair than Asher and I.
“Let’s discuss the main reason we’re here, or my girl will continue being mad at me” he said.
“I’m not your girl” I faced doctor Linda. “When is my next appointment?” I asked.
“Uh…”
She reached for a file, flipped through pages and wrote a few words down, before facing me again.
“21st of next month”
“Hm, thank you”
“Right, don’t do things that are gonna upset you, because your mood determine your baby’s agility”
I nodded, and got up.
“Thank you, doctor” I thanked her, and reached for my bag, but Asher snatched it before I could touch it.
“Thank you, doctor” he thanked doctor Linda too.
“It’s my pleasure, do have a nice day ahead” she waved at us, and we headed out.
I grumpily walked ahead of Asher, but he catch up with me in no time.
“Hey, are you mad at me?”
“Of course”
“I… ”
“You’ve got to stop telling people we’re an item, or my baby’s father”
He sighed softly, and reached for my hand.
“Do you think I’m joking?”
“Aren’t you?”
He shook his head, which made me frown slightly.
“I’m being serious here…”
I snatched my hand from his.
“What are you talking about, Asher?”
“I’m really…”
“No” I cut him off again. “You’re just confused, you don’t love me and you can’t love me, ok?”
“Why can’t I love?”
“Because of this” I gestured at myself, indirectly reminding him of my pregnancy.
“I don’t care about that, I love both of you and I… ”
“Is it because I’m living in your house? Aren’t I paying the rent to you?”
Maybe I should have moved out earlier, then he wouldn’t confuse his sympathy for love.
“I told you, you don’t have to pay rent to me but you insisted”
“Asher” I inhaled deeply. “Listen, I’ll forget what you’ve said, and pretend like you never said any of this, let’s just continue being friends” I told him.
He stayed silent for a moment, then sighed and nodded slowly.
I checked my phone, and gasped.
“It’s almost 1pm, let’s hurry or I’ll skip today’s session too” I said.
He quickly remembered about my therapy session, and nodded, then we rushed off.

THIRD PERSON’S pov.
Hours Later – On a Highway – New Orleans<<
“Lucas?” Mr Baldwin called Lucas from the backseat.
“Yes, sir?”
“Any news from our men yet? Have they find out my wife’s home address?”
Lucas looked through the rearview mirror as he was about overtaking a car in front of them.
“No, sir” he answered Mr Baldwin’s question.
“Damnit! What’s taking them so long?!”
“I don’t know, sir, they saw her around, but couldn’t find her home address when they started asking about her”
Mr Baldwin let out a low, and deep growl as he clenched his jaw angrily.
“Tell them I’m already in New Orleans, and I want her home address before 3pm tomorrow!” he growled out.
“Yes, sir”
Mr Baldwin threw his head back, and massaged his temples as he was having a slight headache.
“Find a pharmacy near by, and get me some aspirin”
“Yes, sir” Lucas answered.

RACHEL’S pov.
I sighed in relief as I stepped out of my therapist’s office, today’s session is the longest of all the sessions we’ve been having -today’s three hours.
I walked a few meters before arriving at the main road, I sighed tiredly when I saw no cabs in sight, and I couldn’t help but grumble at how hard it’s gonna be getting a cab here.
It would’ve been nice if Asher was still here, he’d have given me a ride back, but he received a call earlier from his secretary that his attention was needed in court, so he rushed off and promised to come pick me up after my session.
But it seems like he isn’t coming anytime soon, and I can’t wait for him because I need to get home and eat something -I can feel my baby’s restlessness and I know it’s because he’s hungry too.
Man, the sun is freaking burning my skin.
I quickly reached for my compact umbrella in my bag, opened it and raised it above my head, shielding myself from the scorching sun.
Maybe I should walk a few distance, and board a cab whenever I see one.
>><<
Funk! I was so wrong when I said I might see a cab, because I have been walking several meters and still haven’t seen a cab, it’s as if I’m cursed not to travel by cab today.
I was lost in thought, and didn’t watch where I was going, so I bumped into someone. I raised my head to apologize, but quickly faced down when I saw who I had bumped into.
‘Lucas?! What is he doing here?! Don’t tell me Duncan’s trying to acquire a company here. Wait… Duncan’s… doesn’t this mean Duncan is here too?’
“I’m sorry, Miss, I was in a hurry and didn’t watch where I was going” he apologized quickly.
I pulled my umbrella down, making sure my face was completely blocked from his view.
“It’s fine, I wasn’t watching my way too” I told him, making my voice a little bit deeper.
“Thank you, but are you sure you’re ok?”
“Yeah, yeah” I replied, then turned around to leave.
I don’t know what happened, but my umbrella suddenly flew off my grip as if someone just snatched it from me. I lowered my head at once.
There’s a scarf on my shoulder, which I quickly pulled up over my head, reached for my bag and took out my sunglass, and wore it, hoping he won’t recognize me in this disguise.
“That was one strange wind, huh?”
“Hehe” I chuckled nervously. “Yeah” I turned around to go fetch my umbrella, he suddenly grabbed my arm.
“Mrs Baldwin?” he sounded surprised, yet sure.
Oh no, he recognized me.
“No, it’s not me, you’ve got the wrong person” I said.
“It’s not you?” he asked, and that’s when I relayed my words.
Crap! I just spilled the beans, what should I do? What should I do now?
I looked down at my stomach, baby, forgive your mama but we’ll have to do some exercise to make you smarter.
“Mrs Baldwin, we have been…”
I didn’t wait to listen to him, I took to my heels and ran as fast I could to get away from him, but he chased after me immediately.
“Stop, stop running it’s dangerous for the baby” he shouted as he chased after me.
But I didn’t stop at all, I continued running until I managed to lost him, and dashed into a alley. I ran until I arrive at another road, thankfully there was an oncoming cab, and I quickly stopped it.
“Are you ok, ma’am?” the driver asked when he saw the condition I was in, I guess he’s thinking I’m in labor because I’m breathing hard.
