“Hi. Please, come in,” George offered, stepping aside.
“No need. I just came to give you this,” Chandler said, handing George a passport. “Go back to Mexico and forget about my sister. She’s getting married tomorrow.”
“What?” George’s eyes widened in shock. “That can’t be true. How could she be getting married tomorrow?” he asked, struggling to process what Chandler was telling him.
“It’s for our family’s sake, and you know you don’t fit anywhere in our world, George,” Chandler said, gripping George’s shoulders. “I know you love my sister, but neither of you needs this, trust me.”
George slapped Chandler’s hand away. “You don’t get to tell us what we want or don’t want. She can’t get married tomorrow.”
“You know you’re a pretty awful big brother,” George added, glaring at Chandler. “You really want your sister to marry Fernando? Playboy Fernando, who doesn’t understand what commitment means?” George asked in disgust.
“Get over it, George! She wouldn’t choose you anyway,” Chandler retorted.
“She’ll have to tell me that herself for me to believe it,” George replied, shoving past Chandler and running out.

George sprinted to Lucia’s parents’ house. He tried to open the gate, but the guards blocked his path.
“Who are you?” one guard asked.
“I need to see Lucia,” George replied.
“And how exactly do you know Lucia?” another guard questioned.
“He must be the unlucky boyfriend her father doesn’t approve of,” a guard sneered.
“Let me see Lucia,” George pleaded.
“Give it up, man. You’re not in her league—you’re just one of us. How are you going to win a girl way above your level?” the first guard mocked, making the others laugh.
“Besides, she’s marrying a rich, handsome man tomorrow, and I don’t think you can stop that,” another guard added.
George scoffed and tried pushing past them.
“Lucia! Lucia, it’s me—George! It’s George, Lucia!” he yelled as loudly as he could.
“Get yourself together!” a guard shouted, kicking him, but George kept screaming her name.
“What’s going on here?” a commanding voice asked, silencing everyone as Mr. Landon approached.
“And why are you here?” he demanded, looking at George with disdain.
“Please, sir, can I see your daughter?” George asked.
Mr. Landon stared at him for a moment, then burst into laughter.
“Didn’t you hear? She’s getting married tomorrow.”
“I need to hear that directly from her before I believe it,” George replied firmly.
“Ridiculous. You think I care what someone like you thinks? Just go home while I’m being kind and forget about my daughter. The Landons will never accept you,” Mr. Landon said coldly.
“I know I don’t fit the son-in-law image you have in mind, but I’m willing to work on it. Just don’t take Lucia away from me,” George begged.
Mr. Landon chuckled again.
“Let me ask you something, George. What were you thinking when you agreed to be Lucia’s bodyguard?”

“You thought about the money, didn’t you? Because a man like you has never seen such an amount. But something tells me it wasn’t just the money—you did it because of someone, right?” Mr. Landon asked.
George fell silent.
“Now you’re being foolish. You left her behind and chased after someone way above your level. Isn’t that disappointing?” Mr. Landon asked thoughtfully.
George remained silent.
“Go home, George. Focus on your own life and leave my daughter alone. You’ll never be together,” Mr. Landon added before turning back to the house.

PRESENT DAY; AIRPORT**
Lucia’s car stopped at the airport. She didn’t wait for the driver to open her door; she stepped out in her wedding gown. All eyes were on her, probably wondering if she was out of her mind, but she kept running.
“Why is she in a wedding gown?”
“Is she alright?”
“What’s going on?”
People murmured, but Lucia ignored them. She reached the reception desk. “Hi, I’m looking for someone named George Williams,” she said.
“Just a moment,” the receptionist replied, trying not to look too bewildered.
“George Williams. I found him. He booked third class, and his flight will be boarding any minute,” the receptionist informed her.

“George!” she screamed. He froze, turning around in disbelief.
“Lucia?” he stammered.
“George,” Lucia whispered, tears in her eyes.
George dropped everything and ran to her. She threw herself into his arms, and he hugged her tightly, lifting her off the ground in excitement.
“You didn’t get married after all?” he asked.
“I ran away. Were you really going to leave me all alone?” Lucia cried.
“I came to find you when I heard you were getting married tomorrow. I stayed until morning but eventually left. I didn’t want to be the reason you had issues with your family,” George replied.
“It’s fine; I already have issues with them,” she said with a wry smile. “Not only did I run away, but I also stole these,” she added, handing him a box.
George opened it to find two wedding rings inside. He looked at her, wide-eyed.

George chuckled and took the ring. Holding her hand, he said, “Lucia, I’ve never met anyone like you. You make me do the craziest things I could never imagine.”

George pulled her close and pressed his lips to hers, sharing a passionate kiss. They pulled away only when they heard applause around them, realizing they were still at the airport.
“We just got married, everyone!” Lucia shouted happily.
