PEREZ MANSION***

Isabella was lying in her bedroom when a soft knock sounded at her door. She sighed, pulling the blanket over her head. Her mother had been knocking non-stop.

The door opened, and Sofia entered, her face filled with concern.

“What do you want this time, Mom?” Isabella asked tiredly.

“Your friend is here to see you,” Sofia replied.

“I don’t have friends,” Isabella scoffed, rolling her eyes.

Sofia stepped aside, and Chappell slowly walked in. Isabella leaped off the bed, glaring at both her mother and Chappell.

“Mom, what is she doing here?” Isabella demanded angrily.

“Sweetie, calm down. She just wants to talk,” Sofia said softly, trying to soothe her.

“I don’t want to talk to her or anyone! Tell her to leave!” Isabella shouted, turning her back to them.

“It’s okay, Isabella. I understand I’m not the person you want to see right now, but hear me out. I’m sorry about everything. I never really liked Valeria,” Chappell said apologetically.

“It doesn’t matter now. Why are you here anyway? You heard I broke up with Ace, and now you want my permission to date him?” Isabella retorted bitterly.

“Trust me, I don’t care about Ace,” Chappell sighed.

“I don’t care what you care about. Just leave me alone. I’ve been alone for so long. What makes you think I want that to change now? Leave!” Isabella pointed to the door, her voice filled with frustration.

Sofia placed a hand on Chappell’s shoulder. “Sweetie, I think it’s best if you come back later,” Sofia said gently.

Chappell bit her lip and nodded.

“I know you don’t want to hear from me or anyone, but I’m truly sorry for everything that happened. I was angry about Ace, but you don’t deserve any of this. I hope you stay safe,” Chappell said softly, but Isabella remained silent.

Chappell glanced at Sofia before leaving.

“I hope you understand that people make mistakes, sweetie. And people deserve second chances. Real friends acknowledge their wrongs and deserve forgiveness,” Sofia said before closing the door behind her.

Isabella grabbed her pillow and angrily threw it at the door.

EVENING: AIRPORT***

Lucia’s private jet finally touched down in New York City. She smiled as she descended the stairs, while George trudged behind her, carrying all her luggage.

A black car was waiting for them. Lucia reached the car, then abruptly turned to face him.

“Will it take you ten years to get here?” she snapped, ignoring the fact that he was struggling with the numerous bags.

“And will it take more than four bags to travel to another country?” George muttered under his breath, though he didn’t dare say it aloud. He only lowered his head and quickened his pace.

He finally reached the car, but Lucia was still glaring at him, her arms crossed over her chest.

“Are you going to make me open the door myself?” she demanded.

George’s jaw tightened. He struggled to juggle the luggage before finally managing to open the door for her.

She smiled smugly as she stepped inside. George had to remind himself that he was doing this for the money.

During the drive, Lucia’s phone began ringing. She answered it quickly.

“Hello, Mom?” she said, but whatever her mother told her seemed to deflate her mood instantly.

“Oh,” she mumbled. “Bye.” She hung up. George stole a quick glance at her, noticing the sudden sadness on her face. He was tempted to ask what was wrong, but he thought better of it and kept silent.

“Could you please take a turn to The Great Restaurant?” she requested the driver.

“Yes, ma’am,” the driver replied, making a U-turn.

THE GREAT RESTAURANT***

The driver pulled into the restaurant’s parking lot. George stepped out and opened the door for Lucia, but she continued staring straight ahead.

“Luci… Madam Lucia. We’ve arrived at the restaurant,” George informed her gently.

“Oh, what?” Lucia snapped back to reality.

“We’re at the restaurant now, so let’s go,” he repeated. Lucia nodded, stepping out of the car.

As they made their way inside, Lucia spotted her parents sitting at a table with a man she recognized as her potential suitor.
