Married To The Vengeful Billionaire:
πΈ(His Sweet Torture)πΈ
A tense staring contest ensued between Alejandro, Camila, and Sofia. Alejandro sat on the couch, legs crossed comfortably, his expression dry.
“Is anyone going to explain?” Sofia broke the silence.
“Well…I…he…” Camila scratched her legs nervously, unsure where to start.
“Your daughter fell ill today. She just got discharged from the hospital and didn’t eat anything last night. As if that wasn’t enough, she wants to starve herself again this morning,” Alejandro reported.
“Hey!” Camila threw him a glare before turning to her mom. “He didn’t return home last night. I couldn’t eat because I was worried about him. I think you should ask your son-in-law what he was doing late at night in the company. Maybe he wasn’t even there.”
Alejandro’s gaze darkened. “What do you mean by that?”
“I don’t know, you should ask yourself,” Camila rolled her eyes and crossed her legs, maintaining a stubborn look.
Sofia was lost in what was happening, but one thing that bothered her was hearing that Camila was ill.
“Camila, you didn’t tell me you weren’t feeling well. What happened?” Sofia looked worried.
Camila’s face turned a bit pale as she looked at Alejandro. He knew he shouldn’t have mentioned that part to Sofia, but he couldn’t help it.
“I… Actually, it’s nothin-”
“What happened to your hand?” Sofia cut Camila off.
Camila stared at her hand. The bandage Thomas used for her snake bite was still there. She looked at Alejandro, but he remained calm.
“What happened to your wife’s hand, Alejandro?” Sofia asked angrily.
Alejandro let out a deep breath before replying. “She got bitten by a snake,” he mumbled.
“What?” Sofia rose from the couch. “A snake??” Her eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Alejandro.
“Mom, calm down. It’s not his fault,” Camila said softly.
“What do you mean by that, Camila? He’s your husband. I didn’t give you to him so you’d get your hand bitten by snakes. I gave you to him so he would take care of you,” Sofia replied before turning her attention back to Alejandro.
“You promised to protect my daughter. How can you let this happen? Are you not performing your role as a husband?” She questioned him angrily.
“Mom, stop!” Camila said sternly. “Do not question Alejandro’s role as a husband. He’s been…” Camila turned to stare at him. He was staring at the space in front of Sofia, and she couldn’t tell if he was offended or simply indifferent. She knew their marriage started as a joke, but these past days before the snake incident, she had begun to see a new side of him and was loving it.
“He’s been treating me well, better than any man on this planet. It’s not his fault I got bitten by a snake. Neither of us expected it, and he’s been doing everything to make me feel better, but I’ve just been stubborn,” Camila bit her lips.
Sofia sighed and sat back on the couch. “I’m sorry for the outburst. I was just worried about my daughter. How could a snake bite her?” Sofia rubbed her temples, feeling tired.
“I should be the one who’s sorry. If I had been more active as a husband, then no one would dare play that prank on her. I assure you, mother-in-law, this is the last time you will ever hear of something like this,” Alejandro finally spoke, his voice full of responsibility and determination.
Sofia could only nod.
“Why are you here, mom?” Camila then asked.
“So I can’t come to greet my daughter anymore because she’s married?” Sofia clapped back.
“It’s not that way, mom. You know you could have informed us you were coming so we could prepare things to welcome you,” Camila pouted, trying to explain.
“Do I need to ask to see my daughter?” Sofia stared at Alejandro.
“Mother-in-law is welcome to say hello anytime she wants,” Alejandro replied.
“But…”
“Hush!” He placed his fingers on Camila’s lips, silencing her, and all she could do was glare at him.
“Anyway, I was coming from a friend’s house and decided to stop by. I brought homemade food for you. Your father cooked it. He’s a bit better now,” Sofia said, nodding at the bodyguard who accompanied her.
The bodyguard nodded and left the mansion.
“Dad cooked? How are his legs now?” Camila asked.
“They are getting better. He’s been undergoing lots of therapy. He might not walk perfectly, but he’s learning again. He insisted on cooking for you today,” Sofia smiled.
“Really?” Camila smiled happily, and Alejandro couldn’t help but stare at her face. She looked so happy. Was this how much she loved her father’s cooking? Maybe he should learn to cook so she could smile for him like this.
“Yes, his birthday is fast approaching, and he wants to learn how to walk so he can give you his first hug. Don’t tell him I told you. He’s planning to surprise you, but I’m just too excited he’s walking again,” Sofia told her.
“I’m so excited. I can’t wait to see dad again,” Camila couldn’t contain her happiness.
The bodyguard returned with a flask of food. He respectfully handed it to Camila, who immediately opened it and inhaled the fresh scent.
“Fish soup. He really knows me well,” she smiled, hugging the food to her chest. Alejandro almost laughed at her behavior. Her love for food sometimes made him question himself as her husband.
“Don’t be stingy with your food. Share with your husband,” Sofia gave her a knowing look before standing up. She hugged Camila and patted Alejandro’s shoulder.
“Make sure you take good care of your wife,” she said to him before leaving with her bodyguard.
After a few minutes of awkward silence, Camila cleared her throat, being the one to start.
“I’m very sorry about my mom. She gets too extra when she’s worried. I hope you didn’t take what she said to heart,” she mumbled.
“I already told you it’s fine. I should have done enough,” Alejandro simply replied.
“But I’m fine now, aren’t I?” Camila bit her lips.
Alejandro turned to face her, looking at her intensely. “Believe me, Camila, no one will ever harass you again. Any package you receive, show it to me before anything else,” he said seriously.
Camila stared at him for a while and nodded.
“Good girl,” he patted her head. “Now can you eat for me?” He asked, and without waiting for her reply, he called Lucy.
“Take the flask from her and transfer the food to a plate,” he ordered.
“Transfer the food to two plates,” Camila corrected him.
“Why?” Alejandro raised one of his brows.
“If you don’t eat, then I won’t eat either,” she gave him a daring look.
“No one has ever done this to me,” Alejandro said, looking amused.
“That’s why I’m not just anyone. I’m your wife,” she smirked, and Alejandro brought his hand to her chin, making her look him in the eyes.
“Do as I say, wifey, and eat your food,” he whispered. Camila bit her lips, and he couldn’t help but look at them.
“It’s too early for that. I don’t want you to show up to work with swollen lips,” he warned her.
“And what if I want to?” Camila asked back.
Alejandro stared at her intensely for a while, imagining the crazy things he wanted to do to her right now on this couch.
“Trust me, you don’t want that right now. Be a good girl and eat,” he pressed her chin before letting go.
Camila pouted and leaned on the couch. Lucy came to the dining area, arranged the food, and when she was done, she came to inform them.
“The food is ready,” she bowed respectfully, and Camila was the first to rush to the dining area. She began eating as fast as she could.
Alejandro walked towards her with his hands in his pockets. He shook his head as he sat beside her.
“Didn’t you say you wouldn’t eat if I didn’t eat?” He asked with a playful smile.
Camila paused and slowly raised her head to look at him. There was a stain of soup on her lips, which she didn’t notice. Alejandro stretched his thumb to her lips, wiped the soup off, and tasted it.
“Delicious, but I’m not sure if it’s the soup or your lips,” he said, teasingly.
“Alejandro!” Camila tried to hide her red cheeks, but it was no use.
Alejandro watched Camila eat. He took just one spoon.
“Why aren’t you eating more? Don’t you like it?” She furrowed her brows.
“It’s good, but I kind of prefer your lips more,” he winked.
“Alejandro!!”
