“Careful,” George said, holding Lucia’s hand as she stepped out of the taxi.
“I’m fine, George. I can manage,” Lucia replied, smiling softly. Since discovering her pregnancy, George had been overly protective, not even letting her handle simple tasks.
As they entered the house, George began, “Mom, we’re—” but stopped abruptly when he saw Lucia’s father seated on the couch. Instinctively, he positioned himself in front of her.
Mr. Landon smirked. “Hiding my daughter from me, George? You didn’t think I’d find you?”
“I’m not going anywhere with you, Dad. I’m surviving just fine without you,” Lucia said through clenched teeth.
“Surviving? Look at yourself, Lucia! Your clothes, your skin—you’re barely holding on,” Mr. Landon retorted, disgusted.
“I don’t care! I look better than ever, and I’m staying here,” Lucia snapped, standing her ground.

Lucia pointed towards the door. “If you can’t accept the man I love, then forget about me and my baby. Leave.”
Mr. Landon glared at George. “And how exactly do you plan to take care of my daughter and a baby when you can barely provide for yourself?”
George opened his mouth, but Mr. Landon cut him off. Shaking his head, Mr. Landon massaged his temples before walking out.
George pulled Lucia into a comforting embrace as Perri scoffed, retreating to her room. Theresa guided Lucia to sit on the couch, then pulled George aside to the kitchen.
“George, her father isn’t entirely wrong. We’re struggling. How do we manage with a baby?” Theresa asked.
George glanced back at Lucia before muttering, “We’ll figure it out.”

Isabella had just stepped out of her classroom when she headed to her locker to return some books. Turning to leave, she almost jumped as she saw Brett standing close behind her.
“Isabella,” he called softly.
“Brett! You scared me. I don’t have time to talk right now,” she said, trying to brush past him.
“I won’t keep you long. I just wanted to check on you,” Brett said.
“I’m fine,” she replied curtly.
“I know things have been tough lately. If you need help, I’m here,” he offered.

He gave her a reassuring nod as she walked away, sighing quietly to himself.

Sandra sat on the cell floor, staring blankly, until a female officer approached.
“You have a visitor,” the officer said, opening the cell. She handcuffed Sandra and led her to the visitation room.

“Alejandro Ruiz,” she said with a smirk as she sat across from him, her eyes fixed on his stoic expression.
“I didn’t think you’d remember me, considering how preoccupied you are with your dream woman. What do you want?” she asked coldly.
“I need answers,” Alejandro said bluntly.
“What kind of answers?” she retorted, leaning back in her chair.
“I want all of Raphael’s locations,” he demanded.
Sandra burst into laughter. “Respectfully, I don’t work for you anymore. I don’t take orders.”
“What will it take for you to talk?” Alejandro asked.
Sandra rolled her eyes. “There’s nothing you can offer me. I’m already locked up. What more could you do?”
“You breached company data—that’s a serious crime,” Alejandro reminded her.
“Of course,” Sandra scoffed. “But you’ve been after the wrong person all along. I was just a puppet. The real culprit isn’t here.”
“What are you implying?” Alejandro asked, narrowing his eyes.
Sandra smiled, leaning forward. “You’re smart. Figure it out.”
The officer signaled the end of their time. Sandra stood, showing her hands to be cuffed again.
Alejandro sat in thought for a moment before exiting. Outside, Diego was waiting.
“How did it go? Did she say anything?” Diego asked, his voice tinged with nervousness.
Alejandro studied him for a moment before shaking his head and getting into the car. Diego glanced back at the prison uneasily before following him.

Lucia tossed and turned in bed before finally deciding to open her eyes. Morning had come again, and George was nowhere beside her—he rarely was these days.
Carefully, she got out of bed and stepped into the backyard, where she heard George’s voice. He was talking to someone. Curious, she peeked and saw it was Perri.
Although she couldn’t hear their conversation, Lucia felt uneasy. The way Perri kept stealing glances at George when he wasn’t looking was all too familiar—a look she recognized immediately.
“Ahem,” Lucia cleared her throat. George turned, his face lighting up with a mixture of joy and worry.
“Baby,” he greeted, walking over and giving her a quick peck on the lips.

“You should still be in bed, resting like the princess you are,” he said, touching her stomach gently. “Are you hungry?”
“You’ve been feeding me so much lately, George. I might lose myself,” she teased.
George smiled. “You could never lose yourself in my eyes. Look at your skin—you’re glowing already,” he said, leading her to the kitchen.
“So, what are you up to?” Lucia asked as they entered.
George sighed, setting water to boil. “I’ve been thinking about what your dad said—about whether I can provide for you and the baby—and I’ve made a decision.”
“What decision?” she asked curiously.
“I’ve always wanted to be a chef, and I’ve been saving for years. I’m planning to open a small roadside restaurant. I’ve already bought a few umbrellas since I can’t afford a proper store yet,” George explained.
“Is this why you’ve been so busy lately?” Lucia asked, surprised.
“Yes. I wanted to surprise you, but I didn’t want you to worry,” he replied, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
Perri stomped past them, climbing the stairs aggressively. Lucia’s eyes followed her retreating figure.
“George, can I ask you something?” Lucia murmured hesitantly.
“Of course,” George replied, giving her his full attention.
“Is Perri your real sister?” she asked cautiously.

George smiled, rubbing her shoulder reassuringly. “It’s okay, Lucia. Really.”
