“My fingers, I burnt my fingers by accident” she lied.

“You burnt your fingers? How come? I thought you were putting on a hand glove?” Matilda tried taking her hands but she pulled back.

“It got burnt somehow but don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine after a little ice ” as Skyler talked, she walked to the fridge to get some ice cubes.

When she was done, she began leaving the stopper after two steps and turned back.

Matilda still looked worried for her but could only just nod and watch Skyler leave. She looked at the wasted fish on the floor and shook her head.

The running tap of the water could be heard as Skyler took water from the tap in her hands and washed her face thoroughly.

“Blake and Ivy were really excited about it” Skyler gave him a type of smile but she noticed his face suddenly changed to a frown.

“What’s wrong?” She asked with a confused look at the sudden change in facial expression.

“How come you even know his name?” He mumbled.

Skyler’s eyes widened, was he jealous because she mentioned another man’s name?

A knock sounded on the door, interrupting the both of them.

“Who is it?” Mason asked tiredly.

“Butler sir, your grandpa said I should you and your wife downstairs, the dinner is about to start” the butler spoke with his usual British accent.

“I’ve heard you” Mason frowned and fading footsteps could be heard, the butler already left.

Mason sighed tiredly and Skyler suddenly remembered something.

“Mason, your face will get exposed to someone new, are you okay with that?” She gave him a curious look.

“It’s fine, he might have seen my face before anyways” Mason rolled his eyes.

“He might have seen your face before? When?” Skyler muttered to herself with a short reason on why she didn’t know that she couldn’t remember any of these.

“It was Ivy’s launch party, you were unwell at that time” he cleared her thoughts and she nodded, understanding everything now.

“We should go downstairs, let me get you a t-shirt” she walked to his closet and brought out his black shirt and showed him.

“Why this shirt of all shirts” he gave her a curious look.

“Because it makes you look sexy, put it on” Skyler threw the shirt on him and Mason could only just shake his head as he wore it.

If his woman thinks he looks really sexy in this particular type of cloth then why shouldn’t he look sexy for her?

Back to the living room, Ivy held Blake’s hands as they walked into that living room.

“Your house is quite huge” he muttered as he looked around. This would be the first time he was stepping foot in the Delgado mansion.

“I know right? It has been existing since the existence of my great great great grandfather, all the first son of the Delgados’ will inherit this mansion and renovate it to any style they want” she explained to him.

“Wow” Blake felt impressed with all that he just heard.

“Let’s go to grandpa’s study, he’s always there” she held his hands and was about to make him cry when she saw that old man sitting on the couch and talking to Dylan.

“Great even my dad is there, we’ll just greet the both of them, come on” she held his hands and pulled him over to them.

“Ivy told me you’re into calligraphy so I brought you one of the best homes” he opened his suit jacket and brought out a folded paper then passed it to the old man.

The old man collected it and opened it. He looked impressed with the writings he saw there.

“Who wrote this? They are really good and is this a new type of brush or ink, it’s really nice” he nodded as he stared at it.

Ivy couldn’t help but grin ear to ear, she was glad that her grandpa was blending with him.

Finally everyone was sitting in the dining room. Matilda just dropped the last bowl of dish then gave a respectful bow to them before leaving.

“I’m sure everyone here knows Blake Andrews, he is a popular actor and also my boyfriend. ” Ivy started with a smile.

“I don’t know him” Mason replied and Blake stared at Ivy with a smile.

“Blake dear, I hope Ivy is not getting you fed up with her character? She can be a handful sometimes” Maya gave Ivy a knowing look.

“Mom!!” Ivy pouted.

“I thought this is family’s dinner, why do we have to stay and watch Ivy and her boyfriend steal the table?” Edna finally said something and she looked annoyed as she complained.

“You’re just jealous of me in everything. It’s not my fault that guys are afraid to ask you out, you’re horrible” Ivy smirked and the old man cleared his throat.

She scoffed and kept her mouth closed.

“Hey Blake, can we take a picture together after this? I’m a big fan of all your movies” Carson asked.

“Sure,” Blake replied with a smile.

“I came prepared, help me sign this” Hudson brought out a small book and pen from his pocket then passed it to Hudson.

“The dining room has no autograph room, how about doing all these after dinner” Rosa said.

Rosa stood in one place, she crossed her arms together and was watching with a bright smile. Finally the pest was leaving the mansion, she couldn’t be happier.

Dylan already dragged her down the stairs with one of his arms, her luggage was in his second arm and they were already heading to the main door already.

“Stop!!” A voice sounded behind them and everywhere turned silent including Maya.

They turned back to see Mason climbing down the stairs.

“Let her go” he added as he went to the fridge to take a bottle of cold water.

“Let her go? She laid her hands on your wife?” Rosa stared at Mason with widened eyes. She was already so excited that Maya was just a step close to leaving the Delgados’ mansion, why must Mason spoil the fun now!

Grandpa Mario looked at Dylan.

“Since Skyler asked to leave her and I’m giving her one last chance, I better not hear any more bad report from her” the old man was clearly not happy with Skyler’s decision but he had no choice.

If this was what she wanted then he was willing to give Maya one more chance.

He walked away with his butler.

“The fun is okay, I better go back to my run” Carson scoffed and ran back upstairs.

Hudson shook his head at Maya before leaving likewise Edna.

Rosa was really angrily, something she hated the way Skyler was so forgiving sometimes, she left too.

It was Maya and Ivy alone, Ivy helped packed Maya’s luggage before escort her back to her room. She dropped the luggage on the wardrobe and came to squat in front of her mother.

“Mom, why are you causing so much trouble? Look at you, you almost got kicked out” Ivy muttered, feeling disappointed at Maya.

“What about us?” A man from the group of men asked and Zita rolled his eyes.

“We just need a photographer so I’m picking four random ones to test, there’s no time to waste time so all of you can leave now” he clapped his hands as he chased them out.

They were murmuring among themselves before they left.

“What are you waiting for, come with me!!” Zita ushered the four guys to follow him and they did.

Zita finally stopped walking and they were forced to pause too. In the room, there were some female models, sitting and chatting, Miguel had to clap to get their attention.

Emily stepped in while holding a plate of soup.

“Skyler dear, you have been working since morning so I thought I should make you some soup” she said as she sat on the small stool opposite Skyler.

“Hmm, it’s just a sales party,you shouldn’t work yourself up too much” as she talked, she opened that bowl of soup and Skyler blocked her nose immediately.

“What’s wrong?” Emily asked with an innocent expression.

“You didn’t put eggs inside the soup did you?” Skyler was still blocking her nose as she asked.

“I did, egg soup is really good” Emily smiled at her.

“Take it away, I don’t like eggs” Skyler squeezed her face like she wanted to throw up.

“Since when did you start hating eggs, you use to eat them before-”

Emily was not done with talking when Skyler suddenly stood up and ran to the bathroom, the sound of throwing up was heard before that flushing sound of the toilet replaced it and Skyler came out.

“So will you explain?” Emily gave Skyler a knowing look.

“Explain what? I told you I don’t like eggs!” Skyler scoffed.

“You’re pregnant Skyler” Emily said and Skyler’s eyes widened.

“Does Mason know about it? Have you told him yet?” Emily didn’t give Skyler a chance to answer before she threw her next question at Skyler.

Skyler blinked repeatedly.

“Aunt, let’s talk outside” Skyler left the room after muttering that sentence.

Emily switched her lips and went out, they both sat on the staircase since no one was passing.

“Yes I’m pregnant but no one knows, if Mason finds out I’m pregnant, we wouldn’t allow me to participate in the sales party and if Grandpa knows about it, he would be so happy that he might force me to leave the fashion designing school” she exploded.

“So you’re not planning to tell them?” Emily looked at Skyler.

“I will tell Mason of course but it will be after the sales party and I will beg him to tell grandpa not to allow me to stop school” Skyler replied and immediately held Emily’s two hands.

“Promise me aunt, don’t tell anyone for now, I promise to be super careful, nothing would happen to me or the baby, please aunt” Skyler pleaded with the softest look ever.

Emily was feeling hesitant but she still nodded.

Skyler was on her way back to her room and before she knew it, she was being pulled to an empty dark room.

The light suddenly turned on and it was Maya.

A slap landed on her face before she could complete and she touched her cheeks in shock. This was the first time she was being hit by a member of the Delgado and it was none other than Mason’s mom.

“What did you do to Agnes and Hailey? Why did you make Mason chase them out!!” She yelled at Skyler’s face.

“I.. I didn’t..” another slap landed on her face adding to the first shock she had.

“Listen to me Skyler!” Maya cupped Skyler’s chin and pressed it firmly. “I don’t like you and I never will, for my son, I only want one daughter in-law and that girl is Hailey, you don’t belong here!” Maya released Skyler’s cheeks after uttering those harsh words.

Skyler burst out into tears immediately, she turned around and rushed out of the room, crying loudly, Mason was coming opposite her and was surprised to see her crying like that.

“Beautiful, come here” he grabbed her forearm and pulled her closer to himself.

“Why are you crying like this? What happened?” He cupped her cheeks and looked at her face, his eyes darkened when he saw fingerprints on her cheeks.

“Who hit you?” He asked angrily.

“Your mom,” Skyler cried even more.

“My mom? Maya?” He repeated as she nodded.

Mason was really angry with what he just heard. How dare Maya lay her fingers on Skyler!?

“Let’s go to grandpa study” he muttered and held her shoulders before pulling her along with him.

Grandpa Mario was really angry as he listened to what Skyler told him about slapping her on the face.

“The nerve of Maya to raise her hands on my Sky, she’s getting out of this family now” Grandpa Mario stretched his hands and his butler passed him his walking stick.

He left the study with his butler following him from behind while Mason held Skyler’s hands.

“Let me call the family doctor to help get you treated” he said softly and Skyler nodded and they both left the old man’s study.

Meanwhile grandpa Mario went to Maya and Dylan’s room, the person he met was Dylan, Maya wasn’t there.

“Dad ” Dylan stood from his working chair to greet the old man.

“Where is that your so-called wife Maya?” The old man asked and Dylan couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

What did Maya do now?

“What did she do this time dad?” He asked dryly.

Ivy also came out of her room with Carson, Edna and Hudson when they heard noises.

“She hit my daughter in law”

Ivy gasped from where she stood.

“Aunt Maya went too far,” Hudson shook his head.

“I know right?” Carson shook his head.

“I’m not talking to anybody” Edna muttered and they all scoffed at her.

Dylan wasn’t surprised that Maya could do this type of thing.

“Don’t worry dad, I will take action myself” Dylan muttered and went back in, he opened Maya’s wardrobe and began bringing her clothes out.

“Oh no, Maya is really gonna get kicked out” Hudson gasped and Jacob came out of his room to check with his hands in his pocket.

Maya suddenly rushed upstairs with all the commotions she was hearing. She was surprised to see Dylan stuffing all her clothes inside her traveling box.

“What do you think you are doing, Dylan?” She shouted and rushed to the room but he already closed the box and zipped it closed.

“Come with me!” He held her by that forearm.

“You’re leaving this mansion today, I’m sending you back to your father’s house!!” He said and began pulling her out of the room.

Today was Sunday so no one was going to work,the family were downstairs having breakfast today except for Skyler.

“That’s right Carson, I’m not against you dating in highschool but I’d just say you should prioritize your education because those fun wouldn’t last” grandpa Mario advised him.

Hudson couldn’t complete what he was saying because Ivy took a drumstick turkey and shoved on his mouth.

“And she was also used as a funny meme” Carson added and it started up a laughter.

“That’s enough!” The old man shut them up and they turned quite immediately.

Mason arrived with the soup.

“At Least you should eat a little even if it’s a spoon” he put the spoon close to her mouth and she acted like she wanted to puke.

However Mason kept trying and she did something that surprised him next, she slapped the soup away from his hands and it poured on the bed.

Mason stared at the bed and her face, she looked a little sorry.

“I didn’t mean to do that, I just don’t want to eat” she said slowly.

“But haven’t eaten since morning, at least eat something, what do you want? Even if it’s impossible, I will get it for you” he pleaded with her.

“Fine, I’ll eat some Chinese noodles,” she said.

“We don’t have that here,” he replied.

Mason gave her a look before nodding, he took off his suit and changed to some hoodie and joggers before stepping out of the room.

When he got down again, he walked past all of them and they gave him a confused look.

“I’m full,” she muttered after taking one more spoon from him.

Skyler only watched him with a smile, she really admired the effort he put to make her comfortable.

When he was done, he stood in front of her and took off his hoodie which made her crease her brows but she gave it to her instead.

“You should put this on instead, it will make you feel warmer” he stretched it over to her.

Skyler smiled and collected it then put it on, he carried her up again then placed her on the bed, laid beside her and hugged her closer to himself.

“Hi, any news about her?” Jacob asked on the phone while sitting on the bed.

“She’s doing fine but she’s still asleep” the doctor in the hospital that was in charge of the girl that got hit, replied from the other end.

“Why is she sleeping for so long?” Jacob groaned, feeling frustrated.

He hit her by mistake, took her to the hospital and paid her for her treatment but she won’t wake up so he can compensate her so there wouldn’t be issues but she won’t wake up.

A knock sounded on his door and he immediately cut the call.

“Yes, come in” he said and the door opened revealing Rosa.

He should have asked who it was before telling the person to come in.

Rosa looked a bit nervous to talk to him so she stared by looking around the room.

“How, you’re really one tidy man” she said with a nervous smile but Jacob didn’t say anything.

She sighed and moved closer to him.

“Jacob, my son..

“So I’m your son now? It’s funny because when did you start acknowledging me as your son?” He cut her off and narrowed his eyes as he asked this question.

Jacob was really surprised to see his mom like this. Does she really care about him or was she putting on an act?

“Why are you suddenly trying to be good?” He then asked.

“Because I talked to Skyler and she made me realize my mistake. If I had supported you like every other mother would especially after your father’s death then maybe by now, you would own your own hospital. No one can encourage you more than me, I believe you can go out there, push your fears aside and finally be what you want to be and trust me, I’ll be in the front row, cheering for you, I promise” she said and wiped her tears.

Jacob didn’t really know what to say. What his mother did was something he had never imagined her to do in the next hundred years to come, how did Skyler manage to talk to her?

“Thank you Mom” he muttered and Rosa smiled.

“Thank you too for forgiving me, I’d leave you now, love you” she smiled and Joshua found it hard to say it back to her because they have never exchanged words in almost twenty years of his life.

He just cleared his throat and nodded, Rosa understood him so she didn’t take it as an offense when she left.

Jacob smiled and took his phone, he searched for Skyler’s name and began sending her a text message to thank her.

He was surprised to see her laying on the bed and wrapping herself in the blanket from head to toe.
