The security arrived and when one of them tried to hit Rico, he caught his hands and flipped him over. The people in the restaurant were standing to get scared.

“Rico!” Bryan ran inside the restaurant, Rico has a bottle in his hands as he moved closer to Kelvin and Kaelyn. As soon as Bryan touched him, he threw the bottle but Bryan was quick enough to dodge.

Bryan grabbed him by the neck and managed to knock him out.

“I’m really sorry about him” He faced the waiter and passed his credit card to him. “Take the amount you need for the damages my brother caused” He said then gave Kelvin and Kaelyn an apologetic look before leaving.

Bryan shoot his eyes as he remembered last night when Aime had fallen asleep in his arms. His phone rang, his calling was calling and it’s rare for his mom to call 3am unless it was happening again.

He picked and could hear the quiver in his mom’s voice begging him to come then glass crashing and the call was hung up. Bryan rushed home, he met his father grabbing his mother by the hair and dragging her down the staircase. The look in his father’s eyes says he wasn’t in his senses.

Kelvin was stressed in an button down shirt, dark washed jeans and leather jacket as he checked himself out in the mirror.

“What’s the occasion?” Jake asked as he stepped in.

Jake got to the car that would take him and Julia back home. Julia was already sitting there but was on a video call with Aime and Kaelyn, there were trying out clothes she would wear for her dates.

After a while of talking Julia greeted him goodbye before hunging up.

“So that’s the girl Kelvin is talking about? She’s pretty” Jake tried starting a conversation but Julia didn’t reply him.

“You’re seriously not going to talk to me because of what happened last night?” Jake raised his brows as he stared at her.

Julia looked out the window than to respond.

“For the last time you look pretty. Go in there” Aime sighed out of tiredness as she doesn’t know how long she would keep convincing Kaelyn that she’s good too go.

“This dress expose too much. I have stretch mark on my arms, I don’t want Kelvin to think I’m disgusting” Kaelyn mumbled.

“And I promise you he doesn’t care. Go in there before he thinks you won’t show up anymore and I’m not listening to you say one more thing” Aime pointed fingers at her before hurriedly leaving Kaelyn alone.

Kaelyn breathed countless of times. “It’s just a date it can’t be that bad” She assured herself as she stepped in.

It felt like everyone were looking at her as usual. They might be thinking she was to fat for a girl, probably her arms are ugly and everything about her is ugly. Kaelyn turned to the glass door where should could see the blur of her reflection.

“God I look stupid, I shouldn’t have come here” She thought and made to leave when she sighted Kelvin walking towards her.

“I was scared I thought you wouldn’t show up” He smiled as he admired her from head to toes. “You look really beautiful, red is your color” He said.

Her friends had made a fool of her in the past by lying to her that she looked pretty. What if Kelvin was lying? Where are the cameras? Maybe he wants to humiliate her like Rico did.

Kaelyn shot her eyes to stop her thoughts.

“Let’s go sit, don’t want any man to think you’re single and snatch you from me” He took her hands and lead her to the table he reserved for them.

“But I am single, we aren’t dating we are just having dinner” Kaelyn said as she sat down.

“Are you saying you don’t like me?” Kelvin faked a puppy look which Kaelyn thought was cute.

“You’re obviously funny” Kaelyn chuckled.

The waitress greeted them and collected their orders and in few minutes time she came with the food.

“Smells good” Kelvin said and Kaelyn nodded.

“So you’ve got any siblings?” Kelvin asked as he began eating.

“I have a sister, trust you wouldn’t know she’s my sister cause she’s nothing like me” Kaelyn tried smiling but Kelvin could see the sadness in her eyes which made him frown.

“What do you mean by that?” He frowned as he narrowed his eyes at her.

Kaelyn shook her head. “It’s just that my sister is really pretty and…”

“Kay” Kelvin stretched his hands to hold hers. “Don’t ever bring yourself down to compliment others. If they are pretty then you’re equally as pretty as them and it’s my biggest mistake for not meeting you sooner” He said seriously.

Kaelyn looked at him for a while, her eyes searched his and they were no form of lies or mockery. The boy was pure honest and she believed him.

Suddenly someone walked up to them and roughly pulled her up even Kelvin was stunned.

“What are you doing here with him?” Rico demanded with angry eyes as he squeezed her arms.

“Are you out of your fucking senses, let her go!” Kelvin angrily stood up.

“Let me tell you Kelvin, she liked me first so back off” Rico gruffed.

“You shouldn’t have written that letter to me, I’m afraid you will start seeing me a lot and even your boyfriend here” He gave Kelvin a threatening look. “Won’t be able to do shit about it, understood” He gave her a devilish smile before pulling back and cracking his neck in an abnormal way as he left with his boys.

Kelvin stared at Kaelyn and noticed the look of fear was still evident in her eyes.

“He can’t harm you” He said.

“How can you be sure of that?” Kaelyn didn’t try to hide the fear in her voice when she ask.

Kelvin hate that another guy can intimidate her right in front of him so he said. “I will protect you, I promise” He looked serious, his eyes showed he genuinely concerned.

“You don’t even know me” Kaelyn muttered.

Kelvin smirked. “Then let’s change that, Deli Dine”

“Why?” She asked in confusion.

“So I can take you out for dinner tonight and we get to know each other, 7pm” He winked at her before walking away.

Kaelyn was gobsmacked.

The students began murmuring among themselves.

The student faced Kaelyn, some looked worried while some looked annoyed especially Kaelyn’s friends but they dare not pick a fight.

“We are sorry!!” They all apologized to her before leaving.

Kaelyn however did not move, she don’t think she could ever recover from what happened today. She jolted when she felt someone’s hands touched her shoulder.

She looked up to see Kelvin, he had a soft look on his face as he stared down at her.

“Are you okay?” He looked genuinely concerned.

All the rumors were false, Kelvin is far from how the public made him look. They made him look tough and cold but he was actually far from that, he just defended her from all these people.

She nodded but tears won’t stop falling from her eyes.

A knock sounded on her door and she flew to open it.

This was the first time, aside that night when he had written that poem for her and they kissed, he was being nice to her again.

He sat on top a stone he found while Julia stood beside him.

Julia finally gathered the courage to touch his shoulder but when he looked at her, she took her hands back real quick.

“When my parents gave birth to me, my mom usually let me know that she didn’t like me. She got pregnant for me at a young age and she blames me for not being able to enjoy her youth”

“She blames you? That’s bullsh*t” Jake piped in.

“I know and my dad didn’t have my time cause he was busy running his father’s company so I was alone in this big house with no one to talk to. They let me do homeschool for some while, my teacher had a son named Romeo, he’s older than me but he was the only one who gave me attention” Julia smiled as she remembered.

“Then my mom had filed for a divorce and my dad was so heartbroken that he blames me too, no one cared about me expect Romeo. He would climb my window at night just to come see me. He was my first love, my first boyfriend but when my dad found out, he fired his mother from teaching me and I guess Romeo was a coward unlike the real Romeo” Her eyes turned a little misty.

“Romeo can’t die for me just like the real Romeo died for Juliet. He got scared because my father had threatened to kill him and he never showed up again. Romeo out of my life felt like hell, I felt something in me was missing and I couldn’t stay alone, my dad sent me to school where I met other kids but I only felt better when I’m with the boys so when ever I’m single, I don’t feel like myself, I need someone to be attached too” She completed her story.

Jake stared at her for a short while. “And now, how do you feel?” He asked.

“You know you’re the first person to ask me how I feel in years, everyone assume that I’m happy” Julia chuckled quietly.

“I don’t know how I feel now Jake but I feel a little better with you here” She replied.

“We are not dating” Jake told her.

“I know but at least I finally told someone. The only person that knows about Romeo is Aime, I don’t know why I told you this but I’m glad I do” She smiled at him.

Jake only stared at her face for a while, now he knows everything he felt like trash for calling her a slút, not like he meant it for for some weird reason, she was too close to Rico and it bothered him.

“It’s getting late let’s go back in” Julia stood up.

Jake nodded and stood up too and they both went back to the house, they met Zayn and Martha sitting on the couch, watching TV and laughing together.

“You guys are back, hope Julia gave you a wonderful tour” Zayn asked, looking at them with a smile.

“Yeah, mom we should get going, it’s getting late and I have to be at school tomorrow morning” Jake said to Martha.

Jake was shaking his head in disagreement but his mother seemed to be in support of it. “The house is spacious and there are lots of room, I think you’d sleep just fine” She said.

“You’ve got to be kidding me mom” Jake stepped out of the school hostel while on a call. He suddenly bumped into Julia, she looked equally as surprised as him, like she didn’t expect to see him outside.

“It was a mistake, I forgot about it the moment I left last night can you do me a favor and forget too” He told her and without waiting for her reply, he wanted to leave but Julia held his hands, stopping him.

“Words cut deep, like a knife in the night
I spoke in anger, without a fight
I lashed out at you, with a hurtful tone
And now my guilt, is a weight I can’t call my own

My conscience screams, with every passing day
Reminding me, of the pain I conveyed
I wish to take back, the hurt I’ve done

He finished reading and Julia was a bit emotional. The way he looked at her and read the poem felt like he was truly talking to her.

“That’s beautiful” Julia let out a low smile.

“Actually I… I wrote it for you” Jake confessed and Julia’s eyes widened a bit. “I’m truly sorry for calling you a slut that night, I just don’t know what came over me I…”

Jake was cut off again by Julia but this time it wasn’t a hug, it was a kiss on the lips, it was short, lasting for few seconds. Julia pulled away when Jake wasn’t reciprocating, he froze like as he was still trying to process what just happened.

“A dog ate it” Aime forced the reply out of her mouth and the students present laughed expect from Bryan who was frowning at the back sit, he really hate it when his study is being interrupted.

“A dog? Pet aren’t even allowed in school” Professor Micheal gave her a knowing look.

“Well then a… I..”

“Don’t worry about it, have a sit” Professor Micheal waved at her to go sit.

Aime gave him a thankful smile before rushing to her sit. She opened her bag only to realize she forgot to bring her book.

“Damn!” She lets out a silent curse.

“You know medical courses are for serious people and everytime I wonder why a girl like you wants to become a doctor when I don’t see any potentials”

Aime paused and blinked her eyes thrice, how can she ever forget her sit mate is a nagging, annoying serious science freak.

“Last time I remembered, you said not to talk to you because we are nothing but sit mates so why are you talking to me?” She gave him a side eye glance.

Bryan shook his head. “My bad, sorry”

“My bad” Aime mimicked him and rolled her eyes.

GGC CAFETERIA**

“What? My dad isn’t going to be around for a week?” Julia was on a phone call as she stepped out of the cafeteria with her packed lunch while on her way to the girl’s hostel.

“I’m not even surprised, I mean they never tell me anything” She scoffed and was about entering the girls hostel when Amanda blocked her path.

“I’ll call you later Nanny” She cut the call and gave Amanda her attention.

“Jake” Amanda said.

“What about him?” Julia pursed her lips, looking confused.

“I like him and I want you to stay away from him” Amanda then added as she gave her dirty looks. “Not like you can pull him off anyways”

“What do you mean by that?” Julia frowned.

“I mean Jake doesn’t like you no matter how hard you try, you tried using Rico to get to him but it didn’t work out so face it Julia, you might have been enough for other guys but not for Jake” Amanda smirked.

“I don’t need to be enough for anyone Amanda” Julia spoke with one of her brows raised, it always happens when someone is getting on her nerves.

Julia’s lips then curled into a mocking smile. “Or maybe you’re just so insecure and threatened by me. I have natural charms that’s what guys sees in me, it’s something you can never get that’s why you chase after my left overs”

Amanda felt attacked with what Julia said but she would never let it show.

“Then what’s stopping your charm from bringing Jake to your side?” Amanda asked with her usual smirk.

“Probably because I don’t want him” Julia shrugged.

“Or maybe you’re just afraid, face it Julia, Jake doesn’t find you attractive for the first time Julia, a guy don’t like you” Amanda laughed out.

Julia remembered last night, the mean things Jake said to her while feeling so unbothered but she shook it off.

“Or maybe he’s pretending” She said, more like talking to herself.

“Then let’s do this, make Jake fall for you before this semester ends and I’ll give you a public apology for everything I’ve ever been mean to you, I’d also transfer from this school and you’d never see me again and if you lose, you’d leave and I’d never see you again” Amanda said with a smirk.

Julia smiled and moved closer to Amanda.

“It’s not that deep for anyone to leave but consider it done but don’t come crying for forgiveness when you lose” She said to Amanda’s face before turning around and entering the hostel.

Amanda waited till Julia was out of sight before smiling. Her inner self knew Julia might pull Jake but she won’t let it happen and even if does, she can end it because she has the leverage in her hands.

She stared at the recording concerning her conversation with Julia. “Don’t also come crying if you both fall for eachother and I tell him it’s a bet” She muttered with an evil smile.
