RACHEL’S pov.
Duncan and Asher continued glaring daggers at each other, they’re both ready to get down on each other’s throats.
The anger, or should I say hatred emitting off them can cut through skins, and Duncan wouldn’t stop growling as though he’s an animal.
“Go inside, and put on some proper damn clothes!” Duncan gritted out slowly, without taking his dark and anger hooded eyes off Asher.
I nodded obediently, and took a few steps back to go get changed, but Asher grabbed my right arm and stopped me from moving an inch, then he stepped in front of me protectively, and puffed out his chest as if to intimidate Duncan.
But he was only just making a fool out of himself, because Duncan doesn’t look the least intimated.
“And what if I say she looks good in what she’s wearing?” he asked challengingly, like he’s ready to have a dual with Duncan.
Asher, Asher, you don’t know who you’re messing with.
“Step. Away. From. My. Wife!” Duncan growled, emphasizing on each of his words.
I reached for Asher’s boxer, and tugged him, quietly signalling him not to provoke Duncan further, but he brushed my hand off.
“No. What can you do…”
He didn’t get to finish his words before I saw Duncan grabbed him (Asher) by his shoulder, and landed a punch on his face which was of course accompanied by a crack -Duncan just broke Asher’s nose.
Oh uh, it’s happening, what I was trying to avert is finally happening.
“You motherfuçking jèrk!” Asher hissed, and also landed a punch on Duncan’s face.
Before I knew it, they’re both throwing punches at each other. Duncan sent a hard kick to Asher’s stomach which sent Asher straight to the ground, Duncan saw this as an opportunity and sat on him, then started throwing punches at Asher’s face.
Although, Asher was trying his best to throw punches back at Duncan, but he was obviously at a great disadvantage.
“Duncan, stop!” I shouted and tried to rush forward to stop him, but withdrew when he snapped his neck towards me.
This little distraction created an opportunity for Asher, and he was able to push Duncan off him, then made to land a punch on Duncan’s face which was a very bad move from him.
Duncan is a Mafia lord, and fighting is one of his specialties. Duncan caught Asher’s fist with his eyes still narrowed on me, he twisted Asher’s arm and pushed him (Asher) to the ground before turning to face me completely.
“Duncan, I… let’s calm down and… we.. we.. can..” funk, since when did I begin stammering?
“Come with me!” Duncan growled.
He grabbed my hand and rushed inside, dragging me along, then locked the door from inside with Asher still outside -rolling and groaning agonizingly on the ground.
There were a few bruises on Duncan’s face, which were from the punches Asher had managed to throw back at him, and they (the bruises) made his handsome face a little bit disfigured.
Thanks a lot, Asher, for doing what I’ve been dreaming of doing to his handsome face, hehehehehe.
“Go get changed into proper clothes, and leave this stinking place with me!” he commanded me, which of course, doesn’t sit well with me.
I threw him a glare, before walking towards a sofa and sat down, then leaned back and crossed my legs.
“I’m not leaving”
His eyebrows furrowed even more.
“You’re not leaving? You said you’re not leaving?”
“No, I’m not!”
“You wanna stay here, and continue walking around another man’s living room in nothing, but pieces of clothes that barely covers your body?! Huh?! Or do you enjoy the attention you’re deriving from him?! What the fuçk do you think you’re wearing in another man’s house?!”
Wait, is he indirectly accusing me of flirtation? Is he trying to say I’m seducing Asher?
“I spent four good months, I searched every nook and cranny of the country for you, while you’re here parading another man’s house in half nakedness!”
Maybe my emotions got the best of me, because the next action I took surprised me a lot, it’s something I’ve never done since I married Duncan.
I sprang off the sofa, raised my hand, and gave him a resounding slap.
“Shut the fuçk up, and stop yelling at me, ok?!” I snapped at him, with tears brimming my eyes.
I subconsciously rubbed my tummy, and whispered a quick apology to my son for cursing in front of him.
“You have no right or whatsoever, to come in here and question me because you’re a thousand times worse than me!”
“I…”
“You’re nothing but a liar, and a cheater!”
His expression changed drastically when these words spouted from my mouth, the angry frown lines on his face vanished, and they were replaced with a remorseful frown lines -wait, am I making sense? Ugh, I don’t care.
Even his proud shoulders swayed down sadly, and I saw regret flashed in his eyes.
“I’m sorry” he uttered.
“Sorry?” he nodded slowly. “What are you sorry about?”
“I’m…”
“You’re sorry about cheating on me? Or you’re sorry about popping out of nowhere, and end up beating my friend and savior to a pulp?”
His eyes moved towards the door, his gaze hardened and his jaw clenched tightly as he glared at the door as if he wasn’t satisfied with what he did to Asher.
I’m sure he’s still thinking of multiple ways to finish up Asher.
“He doesn’t seem to understand he’s just a friend!” he gritted out.
“Excuse me?”
He turned his attention away from the door and back to me, then shut his eyes as he inhaled deeply.
“Let’s talk” he said.
But I raised my brows at him.
“Let’s talk?” he nodded. “Are you sure you’re truly ready to talk?”
“Yeah, but…” he trailed off and looked around, his eyes narrowed and he looked angry again.
“But what?”
“I can’t have a talk with my wife in another man’s home” he said.
I mentally rolled my eyeballs, can he just stop mentioning ‘another man’s this, and another man’s that’ all the time? This other man is my goddamn savior for crying out loud.
I sighed.
“Just give me the time, and the place, I’ll be there”
“Hm” he nodded.
He reached for his jacket’s pocket, and pulled out a card.
“Here” he gave it to me.
“What is this?” I asked with a confused frown.
“That’s the hotel I’m staying at, just give this card to the driver, and he’ll know where to take you”
I nodded, but frowned as I stared at the card strangely.
“Are you sure this is a hotel card? Why isn’t there any trademark? Aren’t hotels supposed to have their own trademarks?”
“There’s a trademark” he said.
I raised a questioning eyebrow at him.
He moved closer to me, then stared at the card for a moment and pointed at two letters.
“There, DB”
I frowned.
“DB?” he nodded. “I haven’t heard of it since I’ve been staying here”
“Uh… ” he cleared his throat. “Uh.. it’s a new hotel, and many people don’t know about them yet”
I was about questioning him further, but then, Asher started banging on the door and shouting for Duncan to open up.
“Jèrk! I feel like plucking his eyes out for ogling over my wife!” he growled quietly, but I still heard him perfectly clear, or maybe he intended to growl quietly.
I mentally rolled my eyeballs.
“Duncan, I’m a heavily pregnant woman who can barely bathe herself, tell me which man would be ogling over me”
“Me”
“Huh?”
“I’m very much interested in you, and I can’t stop myself from ogling over you”
I sighed.
“You’re my baby’s father, of course you’ll ogle over me and…”
“I’m a man, and I definitely understand when another man has an ulterior advances towards my wife!”
