I did not talk to anybody when I got home. It was as if the world was going to end. I could not imagine Changing my course to law because of situations. I know if I tell my father about my decision he will be angry but I need to bring to book all the people that wants my father dead. I was on a cross road; confused on what to do in this situation, when Elder Ahuja entered my room.
“Raymon” he called me
“ yes sir” I answered with tears rolling down my cheeks.
He came and sat by me on the bed. All he did was just staring at me.
“do you know whenever am sad or angry I will tell the walls my problems” he bust the silence.
“ sir you won’t understand me” I uttered in tears.
“I will if you will let me understand” he said. I just had to tell him everything because of his persistence. I don’t like disclosing my problems to anybody but this time I just needed to do so.
“now that you have let the cat out of the bag how do you feel?” he asked
“ I fell good” I replied forcing myself to smile. After disclosing the problem it was as if a burden was lifted on my shoulders.
“ a problem shared is a problem even though not fully solved but half solved” he advised “ I won’t tell you not to go to that law and won’t stop you from continuing your course as a doctor, all I will advice you to do is think about the future not the presence. If another situation like this come up maybe health issue this time will you then wish to be a doctor after being a lawyer.
It is not a must to be a lawyer but you can marry one, the same applies to doctor. Don’t carry what your father or mother tells you on your head; although it will be hard because you will think about them, but do as if it is not affecting you. I will say it won’t be easy but when you succeed in your medical career you will not think about land or property rather you will build houses for your parents.
Please don’t allow your present situations kill your unseen future or you will regret. Follow your passion, your dreams and your vision. Be the best in whatever you do. Don’t ever allow situation to detect your future or else it will continue to do it till you die. I see you as a doctor that will change the medical world and even invent things that will be heard all over the world. Please don’t make that dream die because of some trivial matters”.
After his words of encouragement I was relieved. I also learnt not to make hasty decision because of some circumstances that will come and go. I also prayed in my heart that God should help me accomplish my goals. This course I am studying is chosen by God to me because if not for God I wouldn’t have been here studying medicine and surgery.
“thanks sir for your words of encouragement” I said showing a sign of relief.
“NO problem am here for you anytime you need me and please also thank Ami because she was the one that told me you are sad and persuaded me to come and talk to you” he said with a smile all over his face.
“ I will thank her later” I said “ but thanks for being a father to me when I needed one”
“ all glory to your God” he uttered “ you have made me to believe that the Christian God is a perfect God”
He said and went out if my room.
Immediately he left I called the man that sponsors me and told him everything. He only laughed and told me that he informed my father and my father said to him that I should continue my medicine and surgery that if I don’t do it he will end his life because no hope of living then.
I told him sorry for the inconveniences but all he said is he will train me to any level. That word he will train me to any level made me to go into deep study. I vowed never to go a day without studying at least 5 books, least will be 3.
Although I had fear that he won’t sponsor me again but he is as gentle as a lamb. I promised myself never to be a disappointment.
Ami has been a friend and a sister to me I must commend, since the first day we cross paths she has loved me unconditionally. She is indeed a perfect friend.
Throughout that day I decided to stay in my room, aunty Aditi brought milk and cookies for me to eat. She even gave me fruits to eat. She did not talk to me neither reply all my questions, perhaps she is not in a good mood like I was earlier maybe I will have to talk to her the next day.
While eating my dad called me I greeted good evening and he replied me afternoon. There was some confusion there but it was resolved. After asking how I was doing over here he went on to warn me never to change my course for any reason that my kid sisters are looking up on me as their elder brother who wants to be a doctor and the first in the village for that matter. We have lawyers but no doctor in my village as a whole according to my father.
This was enough encouragement for me. We talked for a longtime before the line was disconnected by him(my father). After eating my dinner I remained inside my room reading my books. And also making research in my phone. I had no laptop so I had to make use of my phone or go to the cyber cafe just to do my assignment.
The next day as usual I prayed after that went in and had my bath then off to school.
I didn’t wait for prakash who usually take me to school. I reached the school gate quite early but that is by the way. While entering the school gate I saw three hefty men with their ghost raider’s bike. That was unusual, since 3months I have been coming to school I haven’t seen such people but maybe they came for something best known to them.
Those were the thought that run through my mind. On passing them I heard them saying prakash I thought it was another prakash as not only one person will answer prakash but when they added Ahuja then I knew they were talking about the prakash I knew. I became eager to know what they were talking about him so I Immediately hide by the corner of the gate to to listen to them.
When entering the gates of new Delhi University there are walls at the beginning off the gate which hold the gate I hide behind the walls.
“prakash is over shadowing us, his business is moving well. He has taken all our customer.” Thee first man uttered.
“I know that’s what you will say” the second one uttered “butt what’s the plan now”
“ let’s us kill his father and his mother or kidnap and rape Ami” the third one contributed
“ but first let’s tell our boss Ansh he has to conclude on the matter” the second guy uttered
“ he has already given his order and he does not want us to disturb him as he is having issues with Krishna over that little rat that calls himself a Nigerian boy” the first guy said frowning his face.
“Without wasting time what is our first mission” the second one said
“ we first attack the eyes” the first one uttered with anger written all over his face when I peeped “ if you attack someone’s eyes he is as good as dead”
“ who is the eyes? Or are we to plug out prakash’s eyes” the third guy uttered looking confused.
“ we will attack the one he loves most” the second guy said.
“That is to say we will have to kill his mother and his sister Ami” The first guy said “ our plans has been set just execution remains. Let’s go”.
I immediately from where I was hiding ran into the school although thank God I wasn’t noticed by any of them. I was thinking what connection has Ansh got to do with Prakash and why do they want to kill Prakash. What business where they talking about. Ceaseless thoughts run through my mind. I cannot allow this to happen all I need is a way out. Because in elder Ahuja house I have discovered that without proof your argument is baseless. I will try and show them what I recorded and that might help out.
Throughout that day I couldn’t focus while in class. After the lectures that day I went to meet Krishna and Devya I told them everything and they told me not to interfere or else I will get killed or blamed for what I don’t know. I did not even mind.
I rushed home to informed the orders. When I got home I saw police in the house Everybody was staring at me immediately I stepped into the house, they were looking as if I stole something. I never mind, all I wanted was to tell Ahuja the plan. I proceeded to where Ahuja was to tell him everything.
“sir they are planning to….” I was interrupted By Motini
“you ungrateful fellow” she said “ I have told my husband not to trust you but he thought I was lying, now you see if not for Ansh we wouldn’t have known your intention of trying to kill Ahuja.” I was astonished, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Me that wasn’t to save has been accused of something far from me.
“ sir is a lie” I said in my defense but it fell on deaf ears.
I tried talking to Ami but she was crying uncontrollable.
“how will you explain the drugs and the gun in your room” Prakash uttered in anger.
That statement got me more confused. I wanted to tell them the plan and be the hero but instead I was arrested by the Indian police for keeping a gun in my room and also keeping cocaine under my bed.
I tried explaining to them again that am innocent and the plan to kill them but no one paid attention even Ami turned her back against me and I was taken away by the police men. And I know if it escalate then I am done for. I will be deported and not only that I will be a disappointment to my family and the one who is sponsoring me. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I enter the police van like a criminal. I was now seen as the villain.
