•°LATER IN THE DAY°• (9:30pm)🕖
•°KAREN’S MANSION°•
Karan set the table for dinner while rella dished out the food.
Well, they had microwave the food again so it doesn’t get wasted.
Undoubtedly, rella was looking so drained and stressed out as she has been busy at the kitchen since today. All thanks to her darling husband.
No one was home to help as she had instructed everyone as usual to go home.
“Cinderella, let me do it” karan’s voice broke in, adjusting the chair for her to sit on.
Rella was grateful. In as much as she wanted the chefs and workers to come back, but she can’t afford to take the risk.
She doesn’t want anyone to spoil her husband’s mind against her.
“Thank you” she appreciated sweetly.
He dished the meal and handle the cutlery to her.
Immediately both started feasting on their food peacefully maintaining a table manner.
*
Few minutes later, they were done eating.
Karan wiped off his lips with a serviette while rella gulped down some water in satisfaction.
“Thanks for the food, you are a great cook” he appreciated as usual holding onto her hands.
“You are welcome” She replied ecstatically, standing up to clear the table.
“Why don’t you sit at the living room while I do the dishes” he oblige spranging to his feet.
That was Karan for anyone. In as much he could send for one of his guard to do the dishes, he prefers doing it on his own.
Karan’s childhood experience isn’t a story one would love to hear. His mother had cheated on his dad and chose love over family.
His father was a worthless rich man who never had time for him, same as his mom.
But there was just one person, just one person who was there and taught him alot he knows today.
And that’s nanny emma. She’s his parent’s maid also a mother to him. She loves and cares for him so much. Sometimes, Karan helped her out with the house chores.
She taught him how to cook, how to be respectful and how to treat people rightly.
Sadly, though she’s late now, she was the only woman that makes him happy.
She suffered from a heartburn but his parents was so unfortunate enough to not have helped her. Sometimes, Karan do wish sometimes she was alive to enjoy his wealth.
“Sure, thank you” rella snapped after some seconds, taking her seat on the couch as she search for what to watch on the Tv.
Karan smirked.
*
After awhile, he was done in the kitchen and approached rella in the living room.
He felt butterflies in his belly when he saw the only woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with right in front him.
Heaven knows he could do anything to keep her with him forever. She was someone he never want to toy with.
She laid comfortably on the couch and was looking sexy with the singlet night gown she wore and her hair packed in a ponytail.
Karan took a turn to the refrigerator and brought out juice with two glass cups from the drink’s stand. And then he approached rella again.
Suddenly, she sat up when he neared.
“My cinderella” He called handing over one of the glass of juice to her.
“Thank you” she sipped from it.
He sat beside her, making her rest her head on his thighs.
Subconsciously in an instants, karan’s phone starting ringing beside Rella’s leg on the couch. He had left it there before joining her to set the table earlier.
She picked it up and hand it over to him after glancing through it.
“It’s Sam. But while was he calling this late?” She doubted inwardly.
Karan answered his call immediately when he remembered him telling Sam earlier to take bella to his residence.
“Boss, it’s bella” he blurted worriedly over the phone.
Obviously Karan sneaked a quick look at rella who was long staring at him.
He knotted his brows as he waited impatiently for Sam to continue.
“Boss, she refused to eat and lock herself inside the room. I can vividly hear some stuffs crashing inside” he continued when he understood karan’s silence.
Rella was with him. Of course she would be with him as it’s barely late already.
“I’m on my way” Karan uttered before hanging up.
He threw weird glances at rella who has been seated quietly, waiting impatiently for him to hang up.
“Sam needs me right now” he said nervously.
“You can go” She muttered taking her gaze to the Tv
What! He watched her in disbelief as he couldn’t believe his ears. Was this a trap from her. How could she have agreed immediately.
He thought of staying back but the welfare of bella scares him. He needed to be with her at this moment.
“I will be right back” he said heading towards the stairs to get his cardigan from the room as he was only on a short and a singlet.
He grabbed his car keys on the shelf and ran downstairs, giving Rella an affectionate kiss on the head before heading outside.
Matthew and few of his guards ran to him immediately he opened the living room door.
“Take me to the penthouse” he stated and Matthew hastened into the car immediately.
Karan was about entering the back sit but he stopped taking his eyes to the rest guards.
“Keep an eye on my wife and don’t let her out of the house no matter what” he warned before entering the car.
The thought of rella letting him leave the home this late scares him.
He felt rella might do something crazy after he leaves. She might follow him probably.
“Noted boss” they all assured as the car screeched out of the compound.
Meanwhile, rella felt anxiously. Something wasn’t right. Yes something was wrong somewhere ever since Karan returned.
She feels that Karan was hiding something from her, something he wasn’t going to tell her unless she finds out herself.
She picked her phone from the couch and put a call through to Lydia before adding up treasure. It was a video call and Lydia answered immediately.
“Hello sis”
Treasure joined the call shortly. But her side of her view was so dark as none of them could get a clearer picture of her face.
Well she was actually asleep with her data on before a call came in.
“Where are you?” Rella asked Lydia when she caught her closing her body a duvet while sweating profusely.
She wasn’t home, the background says it all already.
“I went to catch fun” Lydia bit on her lip knowing fully well both understand what she meant.
“Gosh, why don’t you find one good guy and stop sleeping around with different guys” Rella shrieked angrily forgetting her reason of calling.
“Mrs everybody’s crush, did you call me to advise me or ” Lydia paused as a light gasp escaped her lips.
“Where did he go this late? Guess he went to meet with one of his side chick right?” She added getting Rella stunned.
How did she know Karan wasn’t home? Was it written on her face?
“Where did he go?” She asked against napping her out of her thoughts.
“I don’t know. He left the home in haste.” Rella wasn’t detailed enough.
“Huh, what the heck” Lydia grunt and whisper.
“You know you don’t have sense rella.? Why didn’t you trace behind him?”
Rella eyes beamed in bewilderment.
“I can’t do that, it’s late already. What if something bad happens to me on the way?. Hmm Lydia, It’s better I’m home safe and sound than being killed on the way. And perhaps, he had told the guards not to let me out” She uttered icily.
“That’s true. It’s well! anyways gist me about it when he returns.” she uttered
Rella inhales and then realized treasure haven’t said a word. “Tre” she called
Lydia smirked, she had even forgotten she was on the line with them. Well she must admit how quiet she was. She really loves her mood tonight.
“I want to sleep, goodnight ” Treasure mumbled before hanging up
Rella smiled “What a sleepy head”
“Rell you should go to bed now, goodnight” Lydia yawned sleepily
“Have fun” Rella uttered before hanging up as well.
She smiled when she thought of Lydia and treasure. Those girls has been her childhood friends for long now. she really can’t imagine life without them.
Suddenly the big smile on her face disappeared when she remembered Karan.
What about he’s in the arms of another woman now? She really can’t take it. Goodness!
She sobbed bitterly.

•°AN HOUR LATER°• 🕘
•°KARAN’S RESIDENCE°•
Two guards were standing outside waiting for Karan When they spotted his car approaching. One had ran inside to open the gate while the other waited outside observing the environment.
Matthew drove in and Karan alighted from the car immediately. Sam rushed in front of him unexpectedly.
“Boss” he called shutting the door behind him.
“Where’s she?” Karan asked seeing how tensed he was.
“Haven’t heard from her yet” Sam replied quickly.
Karan glanced at him from head to toe before approaching the building, climbing the stairs in front of him.
Immediately he stopped at a door when he heard a lady sobbing and one doesn’t need to tell him it was Bella.
He knocked twice on it without a word and decided to speak up when they was no response from her.
“Bel, it’s I karan” he mumbled with his head and fist against the door.
Abruptly, she opened instantly getting Karan stunned – he wasn’t expecting her to open up immediately.
He glanced at her quietly. Well she was on a wheelchair looking so pained. Silently karan inhales gracefully when he realized she was fine.
“Come in” she persuaded and he sluggishly followed her into the room.
With his unending gaze on her, he could see how sad she was with those baby’s face of hers and then, he felt a sharp pain in his heart.
“Who is this girl Bella?” He thought.
“Why does she have to come into my life now? Why do I pity her and feel so restless whenever I’m around her?”
So many questions without an answer kept on running into his head as he slammed the door behind him.

•°CHARLES’S RESIDENCE°•
Charles Kali was seated on his bed lost in his thoughts. One could tell he was in a lot of pain.
Well, Charles Kali is Lydia’s husband or rather, Lydia’s ex husband!
Actually both got divorced for more than a year now and ever since Lydia left him due to some misunderstanding, he hasn’t been himself. He was hurt, his world became a thorns and since that day, he lost every reason to smile.
“Lydia, why do you have to go?” He sobbed looking into Lydia’s picture on his phone.
“I thought you promised to stay with me for better for worst…. I wish you wouldn’t leave me like this. I feel all alone and it’s the most painful pill I had to swallow.
“I wished one day, I will get a phone call from you and” he was disrupted by a sudden knock on his door.
He wiped off his tears and sighed.
“Come in” he said when the knock came again.
Elizabeth, Charles’s maid walked in.
She was looking worried and Charles doesn’t need anyone to tell him something was wrong.
“Mr Charles, please I want to ask a question” she fiddled with her fingers.
“By this time of the night?” his mild voice gave a sudden shiver down her spine.
“Ok go on” he added and wonder what’s so important that she couldn’t wait for tomorrow.
“Mr Charles, please I don’t mean to interfere in your life. But I have to.” She paused and gulp nervously.
“I know you don’t treat me as a maid but a sister and you as well care for me but” she counted her word.
He gave her a hard glare which says go on.
“Mr Charles, why do you always skip meal? Sometimes you won’t eat for two days and lock yourself up in your room” she reluctantly utter.
“Mr Charles, is it because of Ma’am?” She added looking downwards.
“Eli, it’s not because of ma’am” He lied.
“Mr Charles, I’m no longer a baby. You choose to keep things to yourself thinking it’s the right thing to do but sir, you hiding your feelings will hurt you more, learn to share because you don’t know who can amend your broken heart” She muttered making him sigh out in relief.
He thought for a moment if he should share his feelings with her or not. He have no idea if she was a trustworthy person but for a moment, she had worked for him for more than 20 years now and she looks innocent to him.
Well he needed someone to share his burden with and guess she might be of help to him.
“Do you think I made the right decision of letting her go?” He asked making her sigh out.
“Mr charles, you let her go only because you love her and want to see her happy, not knowing you are hurting yourself by doing so” she said.
Charles sniffled gazing at the floor
“I still love her, and i can’t do without her” he mumbled in tears stained eyes.
Dawn, Elizabeth felt for him. Indeed Lydia doesn’t know how lucky she was to have a faithful husband like Charles who sincerely love her.
“Mr Charles, sometimes love can just be painful, sometimes it’s sweet. She leaving was her lost, she doesn’t know the perfect husband God has given her.” She glanced at him.
“But Mr Charles, stop breaking your own heart by trying to make something that isn’t working work. You can’t force someone to care about you. You can’t force a person to be the person you want them to be.
“Sometimes, the person you want most is the person you are best without. You have to understand that some things are meant to be, Somethings are meant to come in your life, just not meant to stay.
“Don’t lose yourself by trying to fix what’s meant to stay broken. You can’t get the perfect marriage you need from someone who isn’t ready to believe – neither trust you when you said you didn’t do it. She isn’t ready to fix her marriage and you are the only one putting all the effort to build your home again.
“Don’t put your happiness on hold for someone who isn’t holding on to yours. Some chapters just have to close without closure and you might not understand why now, but I promise you, your future will always bring understanding of why things didn’t work out trust me” she exhales.
Charles gazed at her “I wanna heal soon, I just can’t forget that soul. She was my everything, I missed the fun we had, I missed her laughter, jokes, in fact everything about her” he sobbed silently in his palms.
He couldn’t believe he was actually crying because of her.
“Maybe you just miss the memories and not the person” she uttered.
“It’s not the memories, it’s the feeling that I missed” he chipped in.
“Mr Charles, you missed both, but just be thankful to her because if it wasn’t for her, there would be no memories” she smiled silently.
“You’re right” he shrugged.
“trust me, someday, she’s gonna realize she made the wrong decision by leaving you” she assured sincerely.
“Go to your room now, it’s late” he said after awhile.
“Okay Mr, Goodnight” she left.
Love is really a disease, it only takes a real doctor to heal someone from that disease
