While Samantha and Drake were shifting blames and trying to make themselves feel less guilty with the excuses they made, Tracy and her husband were getting ready to go to see her father in the village.
Tracy called him to inform him of the fact that Ulomaโs voice had returned, and still wonโt let her be, so he asked that she returned to the village, to enable them visit Tafeko, and possibly find a solution.
Bruce had to quickly get to the office to seek an official permission to be away from work, to enable him give medical attention to the wound on his back.
He didn’t need to say so much, before he was given the permission to go, and he rushed how to prepare to set out foe the village, only to meet this wife, already prepared to go
“Sweetheart, you what’s this bags for? Papa asked for you to come home to discuss something, he didn’t ask you to return to the village” Bruce said
“Don’t make me laugh honey. Did I say I was going on stay back in the village? I only took a few things because I know I may have to stay back for a while, until I’m done with whatever he thinks we can do to stop this tรดrment” Tracy told her husband.
“I don’t know why you keep saying “I”, but I know for sure, that I am not letting you out of my sight even for a second, on the account of all these supposed solution
“And yes baby, we are not taking these luggages because I’ll drive you there, and bring you back myself” Bruce told his wife with an air of finality.
She chose not to argue with him any further, after all, if the need arises to stay back, he’ll get them new clothes, like he did the last time.
โWelcome my daughter. How was your trip?โ chief Scot greeted Tracy when she bowed in greetings to him.
He greeted Bruce with a warm handshake, and sat down to discuss his new plans with them.
After he told his wife about his set of twins born by the woman his mother married for him, he left the house to allow her cry as much as she wanted, and returned very late in the night.
He didnโt see himself apologizing to Stephanie for keeping the existence of the children the wife his mother hot him, have for him, after all she too, had kept her own secret; a secret that was so devastating to learn.

The betrayal from his wife hit him really hard, and he was thinking of what to do about their marriage, all night long, that he didn’t even sleep.
However, Scot had no way of ignoring Tracy as his daughter, because even though he wasnโt biologically responsible for her birth, he knew heโd never be able to see her as anything less than his daughter. Thankfully, by tradition, she was still his.
Stephanie left the house very early that morning. But chief Scot didnโt know which way she went because she didnโt speak to him, neither did he make any attempts to talk to her too.
Tracy was shocked that her mother want at home, when she thought that the news of the twins would certainly keep her at home brooding and thinking of a way to restore her home.
She asked her father about her, and why she wasn’t at home.
โMy dear, we will talk about your mother later, but for now, we need to go, to ensure that we meet Tafeko, before he enters the forest to fetch herbs.
โI want him to tell us what we can do, to quench this raging storm. As a father, I know how it affected me, every time you got troubled by that spirit, how much more a man that had just married you.
โIt is clear thate loves you so genuinely, but as a man, I know how inevitable it is, for him to get frustrร ted and tired at some point, if things go uncheckedโ chief Scot told his daughter, speaking in their native dialect, to make his words for her ears alone.
โOkay father, Iโll do as you sayโ Tracy replied, and got up to leave with him, as suggested.
Bruce insisted on going with them, refusing to accept Chief Scot’s excuse of not wanting him to go into the forest, where Tafekoโs shrine was located.
“I’m sorry sir, but I won’t let my wife out of my sight, not when I am yet to recover from what nearly happened in that shrine, the last time she went there” Bruce said.
Chief Scot tried to assure him that Tafeko was nothing like Ozonge, and that he was going to be with her all through, but Bruce wouldn’t have a word of it. So Chief Scot had to let the young man do as he wished.
They left for the shrine without further ado, and before long, they arrived Tafekoโs shrine.
Chief Scot nearly lost his mind when he got to the shrine, and saw what he never imagined could happen in life.
There in Tafekoโs shrine was Ozonge, strapped to the sacred tree, where sacrificial objects were kept.
And not only was he in Tafeko’s shrine, instead of his, he was half deรฅd, with one of his hands, dangling precariously.
Flies buzzed about him, and a terrible stรจnch emanated from everywhere around him.
There were whip marks all over his body, and his uncovered manhรดod, seemed to have also been handled in a way it shouldnโt.
Tracy and Bruce exchanged surprised and confused glances, not quite getting what was going on in the shrine.
โWelcome to the sacred Tafeko shrine. Remove your shoes, and you may enter now, using your backโ Tafeko instructed from inside, with a loud voice.
The trio turned sharply towards the sound of the commanding voice, and hurriedly did as they had been told, instantly.
Tafeko pulled out his bag of cowries, and began to throw things on the floor, seeking to know why his visitors had come.
โThank you, gods of my ancestors. Thank you for sparing him, and bringing him here, yourselvesโ he said, pouring libations and thanking his gods.
Then he looked up, and began to address Bruce, who was looking so uncomfortable, and hanging his hurting hand on the left hand
โMy son, you are indeed favoured by the gods. They have seen your stars, and they understand that your chi (personal God) is super active, so they chose to heed your calls, even before you called upon them.
โHmm! What a great and strong chi you have! Prying your chick, right out of the claws of the evรฏl hawk.
โI knew it, I said it when the gods asked me to tell you, that you have nothing to do with your daughter’s tรดrments.
โI told you Scot, son of Ekene, that the day of reckoning for the evรฏl lineage was fast approaching.
โThe gods said it, and now, they have done it. The wings of the hawk has been clipped, and thankfully, before it was able to further the course of his รชvรฏl lineage.

โRejoice my son, for he whom the gods have chosen to save, they avail an antidote for a snake bite, even before a snake bites himโ Tafeko spoke, hitting his gong, all the while he spoke to chief Scot and Bruce intermittently.
Chief Scot was somewhat confused because he knew from origin thatTafeko didnโt need to be told what the problem was with anyone that visited him, before he began to do his job.
He couldnโt just understand why he was focusing on Bruce, who to the best of his knowledge, didnโt have any problems.
โErm wise one, actually, we didnโt come because of my son in-law. We came because of my daughter. She has beenโฆโ Scot was still saying, when Tafeko cut him short.
โYour daughter still hears Ulomaโs voice, and will keep hearing it until the gods say something.
โThe gods are silent on her account, and have only given an antidote for your son in-lawโs needsโ Tafeko said, raising his head, to look up at Scot.
โThere must be a mistake somewhere wise one. My son in-law is well and okay. He only came with us because he is worried about his wifeโ Chief Scot said.
โYou speak as a mortal, but I speak as the one who communes with the spirits, and one, who speaks what the spirits utter.
โYour son in-law is bearing a mark from the evil bird, and if his chi hadnโt been so strong, if his chi didnโt already make plans to save him, then the only blood that can save him, would have long dried up, before he got hereโ Tafeko said, confusing Scot the more.
โFather, is that to say that Bruce will be well again? Will the wise one do something to arrest this wound that we have been worried about?โ Tracy asked her dad.
โWhat are you talking about? What wound? Bruce, what is she talking about?
โDo you have any wound that I do not know about?โ chief Scot asked, looking very worried and confused.
โShe is talking the wound the evรฏl bird at Ozongeโs shrine inflicted on him, when he went to the shrine to rescue his wife.
โHis chi fought and defeated the bird, but not before it dug into his back and left its spiritual venom, determined to kรฏll the young man.
โAnd if the gods have not postponed Ozongeโs execution to this day, you would have been in a really terrible dilemma because the evรฏl bird was fortified to be able to kรฏll anyone it sees the need to attack.
โThe only antidote is Ozongeโs blลรตd, and incidentally, his blood will be spilling soon, so you’re in luckโ Tafeko replied.
Bruce remained silent, looking at his father in-law and the Chief Priest, as they conversed.
He had never believed in traditional medicines, and doubted the efficacy of their methods, but he was shocked to see that the man was already aware of what was going on with him.
The chief priest continued to talk about what he needed to do to save him from the birdโs spiritual venom.
He didnโt object to what was asked of him, when Tafeko requested him to go with him to the place Ozonge was tied to, because he didnโt have anything to lose, for going with him, after all, he was going to see a doctor, later that night, to take care of they wound.
Tafeko did what he wished to, and asked them to leave his shrine immediately because it was time for Ozongeโs execution, and the gods were already spurring his sword to go to work.
