Thirty minutes had gone by and Julia haven’t touched her food. She couldn’t get the conversation with Amanda from earlier out of her head, how could she let Amanda get into her and made her stoop so low into betting over a guy.
Julia angrily poked her food with her spoon. “I blame Jake! It’s all his fault!” She huffed loudly.
“What are you talking about Julia? You’ve been acting weird since you came back” Aime looked from her laptop to Julia.
Julia shook her head and licked her lips, she moved the swivel chair she’s sitting on with her body so she could face Aime.
“Do you think I’m starting to lose my charms and guys can’t find me attractive anymore?” Julia asked with a worried expression on her face.
“Seriously Julia, who have you been talking to these days?” Aime asked and then continued. “First you asked me if you were a slΓΊt cause you’re dating too much now you’re worried you’re getting ugly and guys won’t like you anymore. It’s concerning” Aime shook her head helplessly.
“It’s just… I did something stupid” Julia sighed.
“Then tell me” Aime closed her laptop and gave Julia her full attention.
“Amanda was getting on my nerves so she made me bet over a guy, if I fail to make him fall in love with me before the semester ends then I’m leaving the school and if the does, she’d apologize for ever being mean to me and would also leave the school” Julia explained to Aime.
“Wait wait let me get this right” Aime blinked her eyes trying to process what Julia had just said. “You placed a bet on a guy?” She talked like she couldn’t believe what she just heard.
“That’s too degrading for my ego” Julia murmured.
“I know Amanda is leaving this school but who is that guy?” Aime asked.
Julia looked left and right before moving her chair closer to Aime. “It’s Jake, the new kid” She said.
“What?” Aime gasped.
“Yes, and I’m not sure if Amanda is leaving, I might be the one to leave” Julia added.
“Are you scared because of a guy Julia?” Aime almost burst into laughter.
“I wouldn’t say I’m scared Aime but I swear that guy doesn’t like me” Julia whispered and moved her swivel chair to face her table.
“And how do you know that?” Aime raised one of her brows up.
“How do I…” Julia moved her chair to face Amanda again. “Have you seen the way he looks at me? He doesn’t admire me at all” Julia pouted her lips. ‘And he also thinks I disgust him because I date too much’ She added and that’s something she would keep to her grave.
“I can’t believe Julia Summers is afraid of a guy but I’m sure he don’t like you because he don’t know you yet, when he gets to see more of you, his tough little heart would crack open” Aime said and Julia smiled.
“You think?”
“I know so, now leave me alone I have a tough test, if I don’t pass, my mom would kill me” Aime chased Julia away from her sight.
Julia left Aime and went to look at her reflection in the mirror. She’s had plenty boyfriends and suitors so Jake couldn’t be a problem right? Just what is it about this guy?
“We are poem partners and he won’t call me, maybe I should call him” She said to herself before rushing to grab her phone.
He threw her number away but she still has his with her. She grabbed her purse where she had store the piece of paper she put in, dial his number and called it.
After few rings, he picked his calls but didn’t say anything. Julia didn’t know why her heart was beating so loud, she was afraid he might even hear it from the other end.
“Is this Jake?” She finally spoke.
“Yes and who’s with me?” His usual flat voice sounded from the other end and Julia confirmed he sounded so uninterested with everyone.
“This is Julia” Julia didn’t have the opportunity to say any other thing as Jake suddenly hung up.
“What?” She gasped and tried the number again but it didn’t go through. “Did he block me? Who the hell does he think he is!?”

BOYS HOSTEL**
It was late in the night when Bryan came back from the library, he stretched his neck and was surprised to see Rico up and pressing his laptop.
“Why are you still here?” He asked with a confused look.
“Jake” Rico replied, not taking his eyes off his laptop.
“What about him?” Bryan asked.
“He poked his nose on my business so now I’m going to make his business everyone’s. I’m telling the whole school is mother is a cheap slut” Rico answered not taking his eyes from his laptop.
“You’d really do that? Isn’t that a bit childish? We aren’t in highschool anymore so let that shit go and cut the new kid some slacks” Bryan rolled his eyes as he found his way to the kitchen.
“If you’re not going to support me then you can do me a favor by minding your god-damned business” Rico hissed.
“My bad, do what you please as long as it doesn’t affect my studies” After taking a glass of water, Bryan took off his shirt and went to the bathroom.
Rico rolled his eyes and helplessly shook his head. “Too serious for my liking, he won’t even loosen the fuck up” He couldn’t help but mumbled before facing his laptop again, his eyes widened with the next thing he saw.

Some students were murmuring among themselves while going through their phones. That’s the thing with that student of GGC, it doesn’t matter who you are, once there’s gossip they are always interested.
“Too bad he’s cute, I can never look at him that same way again”
“His mother is hot though, she can do me next”
“Here comes the son of the slut, everyone keep quiet”
Jake just stepped in with Kelvin, looking confused on while people were looking at him one way but he chose not to care.
“Hey Connor, why don’t you check the school headline it says something really interesting about you” Rico suddenly appeared with his teammates, they were all dressed in their hockey wears.
Kelvin narrowed his eyes and took his phone from his pocket. He searched GGC headline and gasped with the fresh article he saw.
“What does it say?” Jake asked.
Kelvin passed his phone to Jake. “See for yourself, I doubt that person that publish this is sincere”
Jake stared at the phone and felt speechless. This article just talked about his little family secret but they had it a bit wrong by calling his mother a sl*t.
“No wonder you were a bit off at that party, I mean it runs in the blood doesn’t it?” Rico laughed along with his team members.
Jake slowly looked at him. “It was you? You did this didn’t you?”
“Me?” Rico faked a gasp while pointing his chest as he looked at his members who had a smirk on their faces”How could I? Look at me, I’m harmless” There was sarcasms evident in his voice.
“Son of a bitch!” Jake moved towards Rico but Kelvin was quick to hold him back.
“We don’t fight in the school premises Jake, it’s a great offense if you do so” Kelvin told him.
Jake forced himself out from Kelvin’s grip. He moved closer to Rico but didn’t touch him, Rico only kept a daring smirk on his face as he stared back.
“Jake” Kelvin called softly, hoping he won’t lose his cool and throw a punch at Rico’s face, it just take the slightest action to get into trouble in GGC.
Jake sucked in a deep breath before walking past him. Rico only smirked as he watched Jake leave, in his mind he felt really happy, at least Jake would never cross his path again.
