“What happen? Where’s Nigel?” Emma ask as she run towards Elena who was alone in the waiting area.
“He’s in his ward and Paul is there with him” Elena answered.
“What exactly happen to him and how come you were there?” Emma ask.
“I just happen to drop by to say hello and I found him on the floor unconscious. The doctor said he must have tried to do something tedious which got him falling and hitting his head” Elena explain.
“I’m glad you were there. I will go see him” Emma said, going to his ward.
The door to his ward was slightly open and so, she could see Paul standing beside Nigel’s bed.
“Why on earth would you try to stand. You know your condition, if Elena hadn’t been there, you would have…” Paul pause, fighting off his anger since he know he shouldn’t be angry.
“If Elena is still out there, make sure she doesn’t tell Emma about this” Nigel said.
“Is that all you can say after the scare you gave everyone? I think the best thing is for Emma to come here, she might be able to talk some sense into you”
“Don’t you dare call her! I don’t want her here! I mean it!” Nigel yell at Paul.
Emma who was standing at the door couldn’t restrain herself, she went into the room, saying.
“Why shouldn’t I be here? I’m your girlfriend aren’t I?”
“Ex girlfriend” Nigel return.
“Leave us alone, Paul” Emma said to Paul who immediately left the room.
“What exactly is your problem? You aren’t the first man to get into an accident? You aren’t the first man to be a cripple, so why do you insist on hurting me when the only thing I want is to be by your side” Emma ask.
“But I don’t want you by my side! You need to accept that and move on”
“I can’t accept it. We were so in love, what change?”
“The moment I had this accident, my whole world crumble. You might say you want to stay by my side but that will change once you see how useless I am”
“Your love for me will dissipate when you be the only one working for our daily means, when you help me do mundane task, when you can’t give birth to the children you’ve always wanted, you will regret marrying a disable and end up hating me”

“Never say Never, Emma. You should take the opportunity I am giving you and walk away. Forget you ever love a man called Nigel and live your life” Nigel said hotly.
“How can I do that when I love you” Emma said, tears crawling down her cheeks.
“You will just have to stop loving me cause I can assure you that I already did” Nigel said, hurting her.
Not being able to take more of his cruel words, Emma ran out of the room, ignoring Elena call while Paul went back to his brother.
“Do you know….”
“I know. I know that I’m the worse scum on earth but what can I do? I can’t let her suffer with me, I can’t make her go through it” Nigel said, covering his face with both hands while he weep.

It was raining heavily as Emma made her way home.
She didn’t care about the rain pouring down on her, wetting her down to her shoe and bag, all she could think of at that moment was Nigel’s words.
She remembered how things were between Nigel and her before the accident.
She was so caught up in her thought that she didn’t see Cyrus waiting for her with an umbrella over his head.
“Do you intend to kill yourself by catching a cold?” His voice rang out, jolting her out of her thoughts.
“What are you doing here?” Emma ask as she watch him walk towards her to cover her them with the umbrella.
“I came to find the girl who bail out on me” He said.
“Oh no! I totally forgot, I’m sorry” Emma apologise.
“Why didn’t you come? You promised to” Cyrus demand.
“Something happen and I had to rush to the hospital to…”
“Hospital? Are you okay? You didn’t get hurt or anything,right? ” Cyrus ask, looking worried.
“I’m fine. It’s Nigel that’s hurt”
“Nigel?”
“My boyfriend” Emma said.
“So, you are saying that you stood me up to go to your boyfriend? ”
“Nigel was hurt and I had to stay by his side”
“Didn’t I tell you to break up with him?”Cyrus ask.
“Why should I do that? Who do you think you are to demand such a thing from me?” Emma ask in return.
“Who am I? Haven’t I been making things clear to you ever since the day we met?”
“And I clearly remember telling you that I have no intention of getting involve with you. I don’t like you neither do I feel a thing for you, can’t you just accept that and leave me alone!” Emma yell, hitting the umbrella out of his hands while leaving them under the rain.
“I made a mistake. I thought you are the type I can woo the right way but I was wrong” Cyrus said, his head down bent.
Then slowly, he raise his head up, his gaze filled with fierce determination.
“From now on, I wont do the things the right way. I will use my wealth, power and everything have got to make you mine and when I’m done, you will have no choice but to come running to my arms, I can guarantee you that, Emma” He said, meaning his words……
