RACHEL’S pov.
“Perfect” I said as I checked out myself one last time in the mirror.
I’ve been checking out myself one last time for the past twenty minutes, I always end up not being satisfied with my outfit, and changing either my blouse or my skirt or my pant.
I don’t seem to find the right outfit to wear, because my baby’s bump is making every single piece of cloth I try on look so odd.
Hold on a sec, why am I getting all worked up over what to wear? Aren’t I just going over there to end things up with Duncan for good?
Why am I feeling, or behaving as if I’m actually going on my first date with my crush instead? I rolled my eyeballs at the weird thoughts, that were running a marathon in my head.
I snatched my bag from the dresser, reached for my phone and checked the time, then gasped when I realized it’s already 6pm, and quickly dashed towards the door, but stopped abruptly when I noticed I was wearing heels.
Now, don’t try to lecture me about pregnant women aren’t supposed to wear heels, because I already know that. I just wore it, because I miss the feeling of wearing heels.
I quickly changed into a pair of flats, and rushed out, but stopped outside Asher’s room and knocked on his door a few times.
“Asher, I’m leaving!” I shouted so he could hear me, you know in case he was sleeping -but got no response from him.
He’s been sulking and haven’t stepped out of his room for three whole hours, which I’m guessing was because I kinda shunned and warned him to get his butts outta I and Duncan’s affairs.
Well, if he’s angry just because of that, then that is very malicious of him, because he has no right whatsoever to get involved.
Now, I understand why Duncan was angry because I’m staying in Asher’s home, it seemed like he’s got the wrong impression about our relationship, and I’m so gonna fix that when I get back later.
“Asher, I gotta go now or I’m gonna be late”
Really? Gonna be late?
That sounds so much like going on a date, wait, why am I thinking about dating so much this evening?
Asher still didn’t reply me, so I sighed softly and hurried out.

Few Minutes Later<<
From Asher’s place to the main road was about fifteen minutes walk, and I couldn’t help but took a few breaks on the way, until I made it to the road.
Lucky for me, I secured a cab immediately I arrived at the road, and I handed the card Duncan gave to earlier, to the driver.
“Do you know where that place is?” I asked.
The cab driver stared at the card for a moment, then nodded in affirmation.
“Yeah”
“Good, take me there, please”
“Alright, let’s go there!” he said in a enthusiastic tone.
“Thanks” I smiled at his energetic personality.

THIRD PERSON’S pov.
Baldwin’s Penthouse, New Orleans<<
Mr Baldwin checked himself in the mirror, he fixed his tie and smoothened his perfectly gelled and combed hair, then nodded in satisfaction.
At that moment, the door open and Lucas rushed in with a file.
“You forgot to knock” Mr Baldwin said, with his back facing Lucas.
“Sorry” Lucas replied.
He quickly stepped out of the room, and knocked twice on the door.
“Come in”
“Thank you, sir” he said and walked in.
Mr Baldwin walked towards a couch in front of his bed, and sat down.
“Sir, there’s an update from Mr Ferrari’s doctor about his condition” Lucas said.
“Yes?”
“He said Mr Ferrari has woken up, but he couldn’t speak and it seemed as if he’s having a short term memory loss, because the accident was too fatal, hence it affected his vital brain parts” he reported.
He arranged some papers on the table, and Mr Baldwin quickly glanced through with a small frown.
“Tell doctor Matteo to keep trying his best”
“Yes, sir”
“I need Ferrari’s testimony so bad, I need him to show me who the bitçh that had my mother killed is..” he glared maliciously at the empty space in front of him. “… and I swear, I’ll make her pay with her life!” he promised.
Lucas shuddered when he imagined how the scene of Mr Baldwin torturing his mother’s murderer, would look like and he took a step back.
There was a brief silence, until he cleared his throat and continued.
“We have also found the waiter who served the wine you had at Wetland Holiday Inn… ”
“Son of a bitçh!” Mr Baldwin growled. “Where’s the motherfuçker?!”
“Our men brought him back to base”
“Torture him for a while”
“Sir?” Lucas raised his eyebrows in confusion.
Mr Baldwin snapped his head towards him, and Lucas took another step back.
“I’m at the verge of losing my wife, and it’s all because he served me a spiked wine”
“Oh”
“Let him suffer the pain he’s caused me for four months!”
“Yes, sir. Oh, the boys interrogated him and he said Tasha isn’t his boss, he was paid by a mysterious woman”
“Did he meet with her face to face? Can he describe her appearance?”
Lucas shook his head.
“He said they never met, they only spoke on phone, and he accepted the job because he needed the money urgently”
Mr Baldwin frowned.
“He’s lying” he narrowed his eyes. “Torture him until he’s ready to recall her face, she’s definitely the bitçh I’m looking for!”
“Yes, si… ”
Lucas’ words were interrupted as he listened to someone on his bluetooth, he nodded and faced Mr Baldwin.
“Sir, Mrs Baldwin has arrived”
Mr Baldwin grinned, and sprang up at once.
“Is everything ready?” he asked.
“Yes, sir”
“Check me out, do I look ok? Is my tie a little bit crooked?”
Lucas nodded.
“You’re perfect, sir”
“Good, let’s go”

RACHEL’S pov.
I couldn’t help but frowned in confusion as the driver drove into this huge compound, instead of stopping outside the gate like I have instructed him when we arrived.
I hit the headrest of his seat to get his attention, and he tilted his head slightly to let me know I’ve gotten his attention.
“Aren’t you supposed to stop outside the gate?” I asked him.
“Uh…”
I frowned even more, like seriously? Uh? Did I board a psycho’s cab?
“… I drove in because the hotel management allows cab drivers drive their passengers in”
“Oh”
I looked around the hotel as we drove past the trail of perfectly trimmed flowers, with a water fountain in their middle and a statue of… someone I don’t know.
Is this supposed to be a hotel? But why do I feel like it’s someone’s home?
Because this definitely a looks like a mansion, or is this supposed to be a penthouse?
While I was still feeling confused, and mentally questioning myself, the cab driver drove into a garage, and my eyes caught a very familiar figure, in fact, she’s someone I have been praying and hoping I wouldn’t run into -Fatima.
She stood by the porch, and seemed to be barking orders at some men, or maybe she’s scolding them because their heads were lowered.
But what on earth is she doing here?
I mentally facepalm myself, silly me, of course she’d be here because her boss is here, she’s always where her boss is.
OMG, she must be very mad at me for leaving without letting her know.
I’ve got to hide from her, or she wouldn’t mind disgracing me here, because Fatima has no shame, and to make things worse, she becomes a psychopath whenever her angry mode is activated.
A man rushed towards us, he reached for the back door and pulled it open, then smiled at me.
“Mrs Bald…”
“Shh!” I shushed the man, even though it’s obvious that Fatima can’t hear him from here.
He gave me a questioning frown, but I ignored him since I’m looking for ways to hide from Fatima. I quickly alighted the cab, and grabbed his right arm.
“Hey, are you here to escort me to Mr Baldwin?” I asked, because I know that’s what he’s here for.
“Yes, ma’am”
I smiled.
“I’m sorry, but I’m gonna need your help”
“My help?” I nodded. “Ok…what or how may I help you?”
I looked towards Fatima’s direction, her back was facing my direction and she hasn’t seen me yet.
“I’m gonna hide behind you as we walk in” I told him. “I’m hiding from her” I pointed at Fatima.
He simply nodded in response, and we started walking towards the door with me walking behind him, and lucky for me, his back is wide enough to cover me.
We successfully made it to the door, he reached for the handle and pushed the door open, then gestured me to go in.
But I was suddenly pulled back, when I made an attempt to step inside.
“Mrs Baldwin?” I heard Fatima called me.
I tensed like a deer caught in daylight, then slowly turned around to face her, and burst into a nervous laugh -she also join me.
“Long time, no see, Mrs Baldwin” she said, emphasizing on each word that proceeded from her mouth.
I had nothing to say, so I could only continue laughing. But I stopped laughing when she narrowed her eyes at me, and tried to take a step back but she held me in a spot.
“You actually left without telling me, I ignored that and still tried to reach you on phone, but every single calls I made went straight to voicemail” she paused and stared disappointedly at me. “How dare you, Rachel?! Does our friendship of six years worth nothing to you?!” she gritted.
I rolled my eyeballs, because I know she’s about to unleash her dramatic personality.
“Fatima, I was just too angry, and confused at everything that was happening and…”
She raised her hand to stop me, and listened to someone on her bluetooth plugged in her ear, then she sent me a glare.
“Mr Baldwin wants you inside right now”
