After some minutes, Somadina’s parents came downstairs, to the sitting-room. A young girl, I presumed to be Somadina’s younger sisters went to Fr. Benjamin and handed him a gift and a balloon which read: WE WOULDN’T HAVE BEING US, IF IT WEREN’T FOR YOU father; YOU’RE TRULY A VOICE OF GOD” then all of them; being the people i set free started going one after the other to disclose their heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Benjamin.
I’ve already disclosed my gratitude at the hospital, so I remained sited and kept looking out for Somadina but he wasn’t coming forth. I waited and waited, but he didn’t show up.
Sadness filled my heart. Maybe he didn’t survive. Maybe the serpent swallowed him. A voice said in my head. Tears clouded in my eyes. I couldn’t hold my patience anymore.
“Please where is Somadina!” I shouted so that everyone would hear me. Tears had heavily clouded in my eyes. I don’t want to hear that he died. I can’t take it if I do. “Can someone tell me! Where he is?” I shouted again. “Where is Somadina? Why is he not coming out to say ‘hello’ to me?”
Everyone became silent. Even the DJ paused his music.
Somadina’s parents signaled Jeremiah and he came to me and held me.
“Somadina is dead, Jaci” he told me calmly. I looked at him suspiciously, angrily and emotionally. I didn’t want him to repeat what he had said. I wanted him to tell me he was joking but Jeremiah repeated himself.
“Somadina is dead. He died on the way to hospital”
My tears started dropping with speed. I looked at everyone’s faces including that of Somadina’s parents and they kept nodding in affirmation of what Jeremiah told me.
“No!!!” I cried out bitterly. “Somadina can not die. I saved him like I saved others.” I said and fell on my knees. I was shattered. My heart was so broken. I felt like the world has collapsed on me. The pain I feel knowing I’ve lost him and would never see him again left the whole of me, shattered and worthless. Somadina’s death made me realize I deeply fell in love with him.
“Oh Somadina! You promised you would recognize me when I meet you as a human! Why did you have to die?” I spoke out bitterly. My face was a bit lowered but my eyes was staring at nothing in particular.
“Why don’t you fulfill your promise to me!” I cried out.
A soft hand held my shoulder
“And who said I wouldn’t fulfill my promise”
Somadina’s voice drifted to my ears. I paused.

I looked up and behold, Somadina was standing beside me with his left hand behind him and his right hand resting softly on my shoulder.
“Surpriiiiiiiise!!” Everyone shouted and started to laugh.
I jumped to my feet quickly and hugged him. He hugged me so tight that I almost felt my bone cracked.
We hugged each other for a long time. When we were done hugging each other, he brought out some rose flowers and handed them to me, the way the do in movies. I was just smiling sheepishly. The happiness that overwhelmed me was unspeakable. I can’t express it in words.
“Now let me shock you!” Somadina told me.
I was just looking at him. He was looking very much older in person than he looked when he was a ghost; he is really matured and more handsome now. “I’m not a nineteen years old boy that you thought I was. And I’m not a secondary school boy too.” He told me. ” I’m twenty-seven years old and I’m a medical doctor. I graduated from oxford University, London last year and as I came to Nigeria, to see my family early this year, I decided to visit my old time friend Shegu, who had been sick and that was when I got trapped by his father. Every other thing I told you remained my truth and how it happened.
Just then Shegu stepped forward. He was as tall, as handsome and as matured as Somadina. He held a balloon which read: THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME AUNTY JACI.

“If not for you, aunty Jaci, my father would have still kept me captive with sickness.” Shegu told me.
“You came to save me but ended up saving everyone. You are one in a million and I will always value you” Somadina told me.
“Since you were trapped as an adult, Why didn’t you go to the university to seek help; why did you come to the secondary school where I teach?” I asked Somadina.
“I actually went to a university but no one accepted to help me. Then I met Mr. Patty, the living ghost, with magical powers and he made my body look more younger and I decided to try a secondary school, there and then I finally met you” Somadina replied.
Somadina’s parents came to me and stood.
Somadina was still standing close to me.
“We lost five kids before we had this our son Somadina, which means ‘I should not live alone’.” Somadina’s mother started to narrate her story to me. I didn’t know why she wanted me to know her story, so I kept calm and listened.
“After giving birth and nursing the child, once he or she clocks one year old, the child will die. But after we had Somadina and he didn’t die in his one year old. We gave him two more names: Godwin and Nkasiobi meaning ‘Comforter of my heart’ after eight years of his birth, his siblings started coming.
The mother paused and started wiping her tears. I was touched, so I held her.
“Then he grew up…” She continued to tell her story with tears “… Started school; later we sent him to London where graduated from the university and became a Doctor. Then coming back to see us, he got missing all of a sudden, then you came and brought our son back to us”
As Somadina’s mother was ending her story, Somadina’s father opened a sliver ring from its box and placed it before me. Somadina knelt down and his sister brought a designed carbon paper that read: WILL YOU MARRY ME, AUNTY JACI?
Tears clouded in my eyes and I said “Yes!”
Everyone was happy. He put the ring on my finger, stood up and kissed me passionately. That was our first kiss. I’ve always longed to have that kiss.
In four weeks time, he paid my dowry and we got married traditionally and officially in church.
Reverend Father Benjamin Obasi was the priest that blessed our union.
