Farida was very angry, and the more she thought about the fact that mama had a level of influence over her son, the more she got worried about the old woman, who now wants nothing but to ensure Nkem returned to the house.

“Calm down Farida. She can’t be pregnant and I know it. She’s just up to some tricks, trying to see how she can rip you and Joe apart, and you mustn’t allow that happen.
“I’m going to call Joe and ensure he doesn’t believe that lie about her being pregnant but you have your own part of play, to ensure an old woman doesn’t beat you to the game of keeping a man.
“You have the advantage of a youthful body, and I don’t expect that I’ll be the one to teach you how to use it.
“Keep that man panting and longing to be with you all day, and even before you put to bed, we must have acquired as much as we need, in the event that he chooses to return to her” Mandy told her daughter.
“I understand mum and I’ll do whatever it takes to keep that woman where she belongs.

“If she could get pregnant, why didn’t she get pregnant all these while? Why did she have to wait until I got Joe’s attention with this pregnancy to get pregnant?” Farida lamented
“Don’t worry your beautiful head Farida. I told you that woman isn’t pregnant. She can’t be pregnant!
“Think about it yourself, if she was truly pregnant, would she move out of the house? She just wants that old woman to imagine that she is pregnant, knowing how the news of pregnancy would affect the her, and the plan is working on the woman just like Nkem wanted it to.
“Where is your husband by the way?” Mandy asked, remembering that she had been speaking carelessly without asking where Joe was,and the possibility of him over hearing everything.
“He went to get me some stuffs. I had to send him off get me those things because he was troubling me with his pleas as I got angry with his mother earlier
“Also mum, what are we going to do about that old woman? She may be a problem for us if we ignore her now” Farida asked.
Her mother told her to forget about that woman for the time being, assuring her that once it was established that Nkem wasn’t pregnant, the old woman will return to worshipping the very ground Farida walked on.
They were still talking about what to do with Nkem to ensure she stayed away from Joe forever, after Joe is made to know that she had faked the pregnancy, when Farida heard Joe’s approaching footsteps.
“I’ll have to go now mum, he’s coming. Let me get prepared to make him sign some more cheque today” Farida said, laughing happily.
She put her phone down and lay down on the bed, her face bearing a frown as Joe entered the room.
“Aww baby, are you still this sad? I’ve told you to cheer up. I didn’t argue with my mother because it would be a futile argument, but I know what to do to ensure you’re happy and okay.
“She thinks my wife is pregnant, and no matter what I say now, she thinks that woman she saw moving out was truly pregnant. And if that’s the case, she isn’t wrong to desire to bring her home.
“We can all live happily as a family. All you have to do is recognize her place in the home as my first wife and I’m sure she won’t be a burden to you in anyway” Joe told her, standing in front of her.
“You know Joe, of all the things you do to annoy me in this house, it’s you referring to her as ‘my wife’ in my presence every time as if I am your sister that annoys me the most!
“What do you mean recognize her position as first wife? I don’t care if she succeeds in fōōling you into believing that she’s pregnant, but if she does return to this house, she’ll have to stay in her lane, and allow me stay in mine.
“I am your wife and not her house help. I know she may decide to turn you against me, but I won’t let her do that . My know fear is for the safety of my unborn child that will be her target.
“And if you’re not man enough to protect me, if you’re not wise enough to know when someone is faking a pregnancy to ensure you lose the one who’s truly pregnant, then I’ll leave this house the moment she tries to harm my child” Farida said.
“You can’t be serious about leaving Farida. I married you, you know! How can you imagine leaving my house and with my baby unborn?” Joe asked, getting exasperated.
“Oh, so you remember that you married me? You didn’t forget that I’m also your wife? That’s wonderful!
“But let me tell you Joe, as soon as that woman returns here with the fake pregnancy, a whole lot will change.
“And not only will I leave here once you make me feel unwanted, I’ll do what is done with unwanted pregnancy, with this pregnancy.
“I’ll terminate it Joe. Yes, I’ll àbort the pregnancy and find another man who can take care of me, a man young enough to value my body and give it to me as much as I want it.
“Not a man who doesn’t find me sxxy enough to pay me attention, but is seeking how to get an older woman to come compete for attention with me” Farida said, making Joe nearly cry.
“Wait Farida, did you say terminate the pregnancy? You must be joking!
“Yes, it has to be a joke for you to also imagine that after marrying you and having a feel of how it feels to be with you in bed, that I’ll ever have to stay without you, let alone allow another man have a taste of you!” Joe said, jumping on the bed besides her.
They heard a loud bang on the door, and Farida who was set to scream at him to get away from her, knew it must be his mother, and she would certainly be coming to see how she can make him take her to Nkem.
“I’m so unfortunate. How can I be pregnant for my own husband, yet have to walk on toes as if I am a side chick!
“How can so many others be jostling to be with me, but my husband is always finding excuses to leave me, even when my body is craving for him?” she said, forcing herself to sob.
“Come on baby, you know I want to be no where but with you always. My heart may belong to Nkem, but you know my body is ball yours.
“Whenever my body has needs to be met, it’s just you in my mind, and you know it’s true” he said, and made to kiss her, but the knock on the door became more persistent and demanding.
“I’ll be back” he told her and rushed off to see who was at the door.
“Mama, what is it again? Why are you looking at me as if I have committed a crime?
“I have told you my position on this matter. Nkem isn’t pregnant, and even if she is, I don’t have the assurance that she’ll give birth to the baby without complications because of her age.
“I do not want to risk losing the one that’s a sure banker for me. So I can go for Nkem, once Farida’s baby arrives” he told his mother when his mother wouldn’t let him be with her persistent request that he followed her to the sitting room to talk.
“Its such a pity Joe. I feel so bad that someone of your age will be made to reason with your third leg. How shàmeful is it that a girl young enough to be your daughter can make you forget the wife of your youth?
“I’m not shocked that you couldn’t come up with a reasonable response.
“I mean, how could you do that with you looking like this?” she asked him, waving her hand up and down to indicate the budge in his groin area.
Joe looked at himself and a wave of shame swept over him, making him nearly faint. “How could I have rushed out without taking care to hide this pointing propagator? What will I say now?” He thought
He hadn’t really come up with a response for his mother when Farida began to call him again.
“Honey, am I going to stay all day waiting for you?” she asked from inside and Joe could only tell his mother to wait for him in the sitting room, before he rushed inside.
