Marie went to seat on the chair in the room not from shock of his proximity but of the things he said.

But now it’s all gotten worse and Charles anger at her for failing to fulfil her task keeps mounting each day.

“James is right! We just need one opportunity to punch that face of his in” Jacob, another chef said as he walked towards them with Caleb.

“So stop feeling down, remember that no matter what Charles says, you are good at what you do” Caleb chipped in which got her feeling better.

“Thanks guys. You all are awesome” she said smiling at the three of them.

“Now that we’ve managed to make you smile, why not give us the number of the girls” Caleb told her which got her laughing.

Caleb and Jacob are known to be the playboy of the company. Due to their attractive looks and knowing the no office dating policy, they make Marie collect the numbers of the girls who shows interest in them and later collect it from her just so they can hook up with them out of the office.

“Well there is this girl from the account department and the marketing department who gave me their number to give to you” she said giving them both their number.

They might be touchy and friendly but they’ve never gone far or try to mess with her and for that she’s glad.

“It’s because of the CEO sudden appearance, don’t you know that one mistake they make, you can fire them?” Blake replied.

“They should eat calmly, am not about to fire anyone while eating” he replied as his gaze went to the serving area to see a man dishing out food.

“If you are talking about the other chef, its nothing, they are just a fellow worker” she told him.

“I don’t care! I don’t care what they are to you but I do care about my reputation. I wont let my wife love affair ruin what have worked hard for. So quit!” He told her smoothly.

“And did you consider your reputation when you were pictured with all those bimbos during your one month trip” she told him hotly even as she stared at him.

“Don’t be stupid! If am around a lady, the press takes it up and have a field day about it, I thought you were wiser than that ?”

“Yes! I am wise and that is why I also filled my status as single in the application form. To the company and everyone around me, I am single and that’s why am not wearing my ring. What can you say for yourself?” She asked starring at his ringless finger.

He let go of her and moved towards the window.

“I forgot it at my apartment in Paris” he confessed.

“So typical of you right? Well I don’t care what you do with your ring and you shouldn’t care about what I do with mine and most importantly, am not quiting!” She said hotly and he turned to stare at her.

Feeling very furious, he picked up his phone wanting to call the human resources team just so they will fire Marie when he stopped.

She’s right, he is being unreasonable. If she works in his company using her real name then there is nothing that connects him with her.

“You seem to be relaxed about this” Blake said crossing his legs while he stared at his friend.

“Should I be worried about my wife working in my company?” He asked.

“Of course you should. Your wife as you’ve put it is working in the office cafeteria” Blake told him.

“Should I be worried about that too?” Romeo asked as he went back to going through the file.

“Yes you should. The cafeteria as you put it is packed with four men working as the chef and let me tell you that this men are just not any men.

They are all sxy and alluring, the female workers all eat at the cafeteria just to get a glimpse of them and your wife is the only female working amongst them, you should be worried” Blake told him and Romeo dropped his file just to stare at his friend.

“Are they all male?” He asked Blake who nodded.

“I am Willow, head of security team to Mr Brooks, your fiance. Have been ordered to come accompany you home” Willow said showing her a card which proved his statement.

She followed him and got into the Mercedes he had driven to the airport. While in the car she took off her glass, starring at the city of New Jersey.

All her life, she has only lived in one place, she never got the time to travel or the money to do it but now here she is doing just that. She thought smiling to herself and unknown to her Willow was watching her through the mirror.

What is she thinking? She’s not here to have some leisure time. She’s here to help her friend and she better revise the things Develene told her about her parents.

Jerry Taylor is a man who made his money by buying shares in little quantity until he made it big and Hannah was once the daughter of an ex senator. The two had married at a young age and had given birth to Develene.

Not being able to give birth again, they devoted their attention to Develene and ended up spoiling her rottenly.

Develene personality at home is one of a spoilt brat who only live day to day partying and getting money from her parents instead of working.

If she must make this work, she has to act like Develene which will be a little hard. She thought as she sighed out softly.

“Mr Brooks told me to apologise on his behalf for not coming to pick you up himself, he’s being held with work and will surely make it for today’s date” Willow told her and this got her sitting up right.

“Today. Am meeting him today?” She asked this quickly and Willow nodded in reply.

She had thought that she would be given this day to familiarise herself with things and will be meeting him tomorrow but it turns out that she would be meeting him today, she thought as the car stopped in front of Develene parents home.

Develene parents stood at the entrance waiting for her car to arrive. She could recognise them due to the pictures Develene had showed her.

“My baby” Hannah cooed as she came hugging Marie.

“Hello Mom and dad” she greeted knowing that it took a lot of practice to be able to say that.

“You look a bit fleshy now. Must have been spending a lot” Develene father said.

Though they had the same face, Develene is quite on the slim side while she’s a little busty.

“Of course I have” she replied saying what she’s often heard Develene say.

“Will you be back to pick her this evening?” Jerry asked willow who had passed her things to the maid.

“I won’t be the one but Mr Brooks will be doing that himself” Willow said and excusing himself he went back to the car.

“Let’s go in” Hannah said as they pulled her into the mansion.

For a while Marie was distracted by the beauty of the house and it wasn’t until she was being steered to the sitting room that she finally stopped to ask them what’s going on.

“What’s with this sudden Fiance?” She asked wanting to know Develene parents reason.

“Its a love at first sight thing” Hannah was the one who began talking.

“What love at first sight?” Marie asked.

“Romeo visited our home to talk business with your father when he saw a picture of you. He fell straight away and before we knew it, he came asking for your hand and we gave it to him” Hannah replied.

“But you should have told me about it first, I would have like to make a decision too” Marie said knowing this will be the same thing Develene would have said if she was here.

“We are sorry we didn’t tell you about it but you should know that our decision was made for your benefit. Romeo is a man of power and wealth and am sure that he will take very good care of you. So you should trust us on this and just accept him, he’s coming to take you out tonight, get to know him and you will certainly like him” Jerry said looking a bit nervous.

A while later she was shown to Develene room. She had called Develene and told her of what’s happening.

“I doubt it. My parents have never tried to meddled in my love life, there had once been a case where someone approached them asking for my hand in marriage and my father had asked me what I thought and when I refused, they went along with my decision. There must be something about this Romeo and their sudden agreement to my sudden marriage. Find that out ” Develene had told her.

And now dressed in a clinging gown which Develene had chosen for her, she comb through her hair.

Her mission tonight is to do things men hate and one of them Is this dress.

“Men hate women who shows a lot of skin and someone like Romeo Brooks would certainly hate it,so make sure you show a lot of skin tonight. Wear that dress i bought you. It certainly will put him off” Develene had told her earlier on the phone and she stood starring at the blue clinging dress.

It clung to her like a second skin and also the deep v at the front made Marie uncomfortable.

She heard voices downstairs and was about leaving the room when she changed her mind, deciding to wear a coat over her dress.

She opened the door to see Hannah Taylor there.

“He’s here my child. Make sure you get along with him tonight” she said taking hold of Marie hand as they both went down the stairs.

“Why must I get along with him? I might not like him” Marie said her attention on Develene mom that she didn’t notice the man who stood down the stairs starring at her.

Just then her heel caught on the rug and she found herself losing her balance even Hannah who stood by her side couldn’t hold onto her.

Marie closed her eyes as she fell and while she was expecting to fall on the floor, she found herself being captured into some one arms.

She opened her eyes to stare into a pair of deep grey eyes whose face looked exactly like that of an angel but she knew that he’s far from being an angel.

“Are you okay?” Romeo asked as he held her in his arms.

“I am” she replied feeling a bit mesmerised by his gaze which was solely trained on her.

Get a grip girl! You shouldn’t be mesmerised by him, you should be doing things that will get him to dislike you. A voice said to her.

“Can you let me down now” she said and he did that still having his arms around her waist.

“I only tripped, it doesn’t mean that am clumsy, you can let go of me now” she said rudely.

Act one be rude to him, she thought as she moved away from him.

“I only kept my arms around you cause I find that I like it there” Romeo said smoothly and while Develene parents smiled at his cool reply, she frowned his way. Seems like her rude reply hadn’t done a thing.

“Mom, Dad. We will be back soon” she said to her parents even as she walked out with Romeo trailing behind her.

Marie stood at the counter filling up a cup of coffee for a customer when Develene walked into the restaurant.

Every time Marie sees Develene she sees herself in her, though their different in personality, their face is the same,, like they are both twins which they know they are not.

Marie had met Develene at a party she attended a few weeks ago. She had thought it crazy to have the same face as her. She had even been crazy to think that they might be twins but after getting to know her, she realised that it’s just God’s hand work.

Develene had also been surprised by the resemblance but they had both set that aside becoming close friends.

“A glass of milk shake please?” Develene said as soon as she got to the counter.

Develene is someone bright, full of life and tends to be direct with her words but one thing stopped her from being perfect. Due to her being the daughter of a rich business man, she became a spoilt child who only depends on her father for every little thing she wants.

“Is something bothering you?” Marie finds herself asking.

“Yes. Once you are on break, come join me at the table over there” she said as she took her glass of milk shake with her to an empty table by window.

“You two look alike, your mom must be proud of having given birth to twins” A middle age customer said to her having seen Marie and Develene together.

“You got it wrong Ma’am. We aren’t twins but friends” Marie replied having been told this severally by customers.

“Are you sure? You both look so much…..”

“Alike? I know that and have often heard about it but we aren’t twins, we aren’t even related” Marie said truthfully but the last look the lady gave her was a look of doubt.

Her break finally came and she went to join Develene.

“What’s going on?” Marie asked.

“I just got a call from dad” Develene began slowly.

“And?”

“He wants me to return to New Jersey” she replied looking worried.

“All of a sudden? Did he tell you his reasons?” Marie asked.

“Yes”

“And?”

“He wants me to return home so he can introduce me to my fiance” Develene said worriedly.

“Really?” Marie asked stunned by Develene reply.

“Yes. While have been here, he got into business with this supposed fiance of mine and they’ve both concluded to marry me off to him” she said.

“This is crazy! Are we in the old era where arrange marriage still exist?” Marie asked.

“We aren’t but arrange marriage still exist” Develene replied.

“So what are you going to do about it now?” Marie asked.

“I don’t know. I know that once am there both my parents will try to convince me to marry him but I don’t see myself doing that. I love James and I can’t live without him” Develene replied.

She had met James at a party a week ago and the romance between them had bud into life. She knew Develene is serious with James but what she didn’t expect is for her to be madly in love with him just a week after meeting him.

“That’s why I came to this conclusion” Develene said suddenly bringing Marie attention back on her.

“What conclusion?”

“That you go in my place”

“What?” Marie shrieked out loudly before controlling herself.

“I know it’s crazy but it’s the only way I can think of” Develene said.

“I can’t do it Develene. Don’t you know that we will be caught?” Marie asked.

“We can’t if we both have the same face. Have thought of this well enough and am sure that it will work. If you accept to go in place of me, your task is just to get rid of my fiance. I did a little research on him and I found out that he is someone very picky which is to our advantage” Develene said.

“Hold on Develene, I …..”

“You only have to do things that will make him lose interest. Make him dislike you by doing things men hate and am sure that the marriage thing will be cancelled and I will be free and you can return home” Develene finished cutting her off.

“Please just do me this favour?” Develene added.

“This isnt going to work”Marie replied.

“It will, cause all you have to do is to go there and pretend to be me. We both have the same face and could be mistaken for twins. It will work out Marie, just help me” Develene begged.

“This is crazy! Why aren’t you doing this yourself? you can as well go and tell that man off” Marie said and Develene stared down at her clenched hands.

“I can’t. James mother already dislike me and James and i plan on going to stay with her this weekend just so she can come to terms with me being with her son. If I were to cancel it and go back home then I can forget being with James” she said now looking at Marie with tears on her face.

“Don’t cry Develene” Marie said softly.

“Please do this for us,for me and James. Help me” Develene said looking so much like a sad puppy who got lost in the rain.

Marie has a kind heart which goes out to people in need and here is her friend who is in need of help, she just can’t leave her stranded and besides she only have to go there and make it clear to that Fiance of her’s that she’s not interested.

“Fine then. When am I to leave?” She asked Develene who was now starring at her with so much gratitude.

“You leave tomorrow and….”

“Tomorrow? But that’s too soon, what am I going to tell my boss, I have a life here as well Develene” Marie told her.

“I will become you then”

“This isn’t funny Dev” Marie said cutting her name short.

“And am not joking. I mean it, while you help me with my life, I will help with yours, it’s the least I can do” Develene said.

“But you don’t know how to work? You’ve never work before” Marie told her.

“I will start from now and you can teach me” Develene said as she stood up going to the counter while urging her to come along.

As Marie return to the counter, she hoped that everything will go well for them.
