It was a Saturday morning, so I was off to football training. I left Susan at home doing some cleanup. Although I offered her a helping hand, she declined. That’s her for you. You see house chores, Susan loved doing it so much. She can clean up the whole five bedroom duplex alone in a twinkling of an eye and still cook as well.
Whenever I am off from work, I don’t miss Saturday’s football game. Although I wasn’t playing soccer to make a living out of it, I was doing it to keep myself fit. It was an open field where we played football. That day, Lucy came around to watch me play after her walkout. Meanwhile her father’s house was very close to the field.
After the game, Lucy offered to take me out to Mrfruits joint for us to snack on something and as well take some fruit juice. I accepted her offer. We walked down the street. The place was a stone throw from the field. We got to the joint and placed our orders. Amid discussion, our order landed. Then, gradually, we descended on it while engaging in conversation.
Halfway, I looked out through the window. It happened that the sky was very angry and large clouds were moving towards me with great pace. Before I could open my mouth to inform Lucy that it was about raining, the next thing was a pitter-patter. People began to run for cover outside, to extent that some even ran into the the joint and umbrellas were opened as the cloud vomited out its bead of water angrily. Puddles began plinking as the rainfall became heavier. The roofs of the cars danced with spray and I could hear the murmuring of the rain through the window. It sounded like the buzzing of angry bees.
We then relaxed and were enjoying our conversation while the rainfall rattled against the zinc with great intensity. Every now and then, Susan kept calling. Though I have told her that I was hanging out with a friend at Mrfruit but I didn’t not let her know that it was Lucy even when she insisted on knowing who was the friend. But it seemed like she overheard Lucy’s voice, that was why she kept calling. Even, she offered to come and carry me with car but I declined her request. She then decided to torment my good time with Lucy with calls all in the name of checking up on me.
‘Steve, be honest with me, are you married?’, Lucy had to ask.
‘No, I am not’. I defended myself. Though I already know why she was asking.
‘The lady calling you every now and then, is that your wife?’. She asked again.
‘Not all’.
‘Your girlfriend at home?’, she added again.
‘Not all’.
‘Then who is she?’.
‘She is my brother’s wife, Doctor Susan’, I explained.
‘Steve, anything going on between you guys?’, she asked, staring into my eyes.
‘Going on, how?’, I countered her.
‘Steve, don’t get it twisted,’ she heaved a sigh. ‘Never mind, just that she sounded so insecure’. She added.
Just then, Susan pulled over. I saw her from afar marching into the joint like an angry soldier. She frowned immediately when she saw me with Lucy. With the angry look on her face, I know she was up for drama. So to avoid embarrassment, I excused Lucy to go meet her. I put on a face as well.
‘What are you doing here?’, I had to attack her first.
‘To pick you up of course’, she angrily answered.
‘As a baby or what?’, I asked.
‘So I have done bad coming to take you home?’, she replied. I glanced over my shoulder and saw how attentively Lucy was watching us as we pulled out drama.
‘Steve, who’s that girl over there?’,she angrily said.
‘She is my friend’, I bitterly answered her.
‘She must be that stupid Lucy that has not been allowing you to concentrate on your job, right?’, she asked.
‘Meaning what? Has anybody ever complained to you that I am losing concentration on my job?’.
‘I don’t need to be told, I have seen it already’.
‘You are really overstepping your boundary. Why poke nosing into my private affairs like this, Susan?’.
‘Oh, I am overstepping my boundaries now, right? So Steve, you have grown so big that you now set boundaries for me? So the reason you are now talking back at me is because of that stupid girl?’.
‘Susan, don’t get it twisted’. I had to calm my voice down to avoid further embarrassment. ‘I mean, you are policing me too much. You are interfering into my private life too much’.
‘I am interfering because I cared. I don’t want these girls to ruin your life. I want a better future for you and I am doing everything possible best to secure that for you. Steve, I wouldn’t allow any jezebel to ruin it.’
‘I understand, but you are overdoing it. You don’t have to be policing me like a little child,’ I complained.
‘Steve, I don’t want to stand here exchanging words with you. Just come and let’s go home’, she said with a tone of command.
‘Go home? Can’t you see I am here with someone?’, I asked in surprise.
‘I don’t give a fucking damn about her. Just come and let’s go home now. Don’t allow me to get mad at you’, she said with every seriousness.
I took a deep breath amid confusion. ‘Okay, fine, can I atleast have a word with her?’.
‘Steve, if you step an inch back to meet that girl, then you will have me to contend with right here and right now. Just turn and follow me home’.
‘I don finally enter. What kind of problem is this now?’. I said to myself.
All this while, I refused to look at Lucy. I know she must be disappointed. So I don’t want to look at her face.
‘But it will be really very bad of me to leave just like that. Not even a goodbye’. I said and turned, at least to send a goodbye wave to her before leaving but to my greatest surprise, Lucy had gone. I looked around but she was nowhere to be found.
It was when I was about to enter the motor that her car left the scene with immediate effect. She must have called her driver to come and pick her when she must have had enough of my n0nsense.
I tried calling her on the phone when I got home but she refused to pick up her calls. I know she must be mad at me. I have even sent her messages on WhatsApp and Facebook all to no avail.
Meanwhile Susan had apologized for the embarrassment because I confronted her when we got home. She told me that she was only trying to protect me from Lagos girls, not to ruin my life. This and that. But I had no other option than to let go but I refused her from coming closer to me.
I went to bed on time because of the weather. I must tell you, the weather was not friendly for singles like us that very night. It was severely harsh. Meanwhile Lucy has refused to either pick my calls or reply to my messages. In fact, I had to impaired my faculties with alcohol before I could sleep that night.
I laid down on the bed and sprawled out comfortably. I was deep asleep. I felt a feminine hand smooch|ng, caress|ng and kiss|ng me mercissely. Few minutes later, her mouth made its way down to the mantle in between my two legs. I groaned in pleasure. She held my manh00d in sensation and pushed it into her mouth like a lollipop before pulling it out gradually. Gently and softly, she was k|sing the head of my pen|s with her moist lips before taking it into her mouth again.
