“Hey, can you pass me the milk?” Taylor walks into the kitchen but I don’t answer her. “Dove I asked you to pass the milk, it’s in the refrigerator” She repeats herself and I turn to face her, giving her a nonchalant look.
“I heard you Taylor but I just don’t want to help you. If you need milk then walk your way to the refrigerator and take it yourself” I say harshly.
“Excuse me?” Taylor raises her brows. “Are you mad at me now? It’s not my fault we are both grounded” She says but I don’t agree.
“It’s damn well your fault Taylor, you started by planning a sweet sixteen birthday party without me knowing. Invite people I didn’t know and snuck beer in, it’s all your fault, Taylor!” I snapped.
Taylor looks at me, her mouth open while feeling speechless. Then she shakes her head. “You ungrateful bitch. I did everything to make you happy and this is how you thank me?”
“Well we are both grounded for two weeks, no phones and I’ll be stuck on the stupid couch, watching TV all day or on my stupid bed, sleeping all day and my mom and Aunt Maggie aren’t even talking so yes Taylor I’m very happy thank you,” I say sarcastically.
“Bitch I think you meant my room, and I don’t want to see you there tonight. Have fun sleeping on the couch!” She glares at me before going to the refrigerator to take the bottle of milk.
I can’t believe she’s kicking me out when she should be apologizing to me, to us but screw her anyways.
Taylor begins to go upstairs and I shout after her. “Couch is super fun, at least it won’t hug me any time I sleep and it’s cool. I’m going to have so much fun, I don’t even need your bedroom”
She responds by turning back and giving me a ‘f u’ sign before facing her front and leaving. I scoffed and carried my cereal to the living room only to meet Derek sitting on the couch and watching TV.
Great, now I’m not even free to sit on the couch. I turn to leave but his voice stops me. “Don’t let me stop you, Dove, remember you are more than a guest here so just sit and it’s cool if you don’t want to talk to me” He says.
I sat on the couch, ignoring him and trying not to think he was sitting beside me. The guy that touched me and avoided me for a week, didn’t even wish me properly on my birthday or gave me a birthday present. He just ruined my party.
“So, why did you dye your hair blonde” He ask but I don’t reply. I kept drinking the cereal and watching the movie which I didn’t understand a thing.
“You’re gonna have to talk to me if you don’t want to die of boredom for two weeks,” He says and I give him an angry look.
“And what makes you think talking to you will ease my boredom away? I survived without talking to you for a week right? What’s two more weeks” I raise one of my brows, giving him a challenging look.
He lets out a tired sigh. “Look I’m sorry okay…”
“No, Derek! Not this time. Every time you feel bored you remember me, you apologize and use me then throw me away then feel bored again, apologize again, and throw me away. No, Derek, you can’t go on breaking hearts like that. I’m done with you Derek, forget something ever happened between us” I stood when I was done talking and didn’t wait to hear a reply or see an expression on his face when I left.
I feel so proud of myself right now. I finally put him in his place and hopefully, I will be able to do this all the time.

I got up from the couch and kicked it angrily but it was a bad idea because I hurt my feet. I went to the kitchen to get myself a drink.
“Not having fun sleeping on the couch?” A familiar voice. I rolled my eyes and faced Derek. “I’m having so much fun, I was just feeling thirsty” I lied.
“Hmm, I believe you” I know he didn’t believe me from the way he sounded.
“What are you doing here anyways” I ask, holding a bottle of water.
“Same reason as you, thirsty” Then he snatched the water from my hand and began leaving. I know he made me feel horrible but I didn’t want him to leave, I don’t want to be alone in the dark leaving the room on the couch but I’m never going to tell him to stay.
He stops after taking a few steps and then looks at me. “If you feel uncomfortable staying alone on the couch then my room is open for you to come in,” He tells me before turning and leaving again.
No way Derek is inviting me to his room but no way I’m going there.
