I can’t believe I’m back home after so long. When I say home, I mean I’m not longer in Austin Texas, I’m back to Washington, my home town. I’m back to my old life with my mom, going to my school again. When Derek has been asleep for a year, I had to go to the same school as Taylor because I didn’t want to leave him but now I’m in my final year just where I started.

Then days morning turned into nights as days turned into months and months into a year and I could see myself in a graduation gown, we were screaming and throwing our caps, I’m done with highschool, I can’t believe this. And a year turned into two and three.

I’m standing in front of the mirror, I have makeup on and I’m dressed up in a beautiful gown. Time goes by so slowly, it’s just like I could close my eyes and open it and remember when I was just fifteen, a little girl who has been struggling to grow up but now I’m twenty. Freaking twenty!

“Dove, you ready?” I heard mom call and I snapped back to earth.

“Coming” I left the mirror and grabbed my suitcase so we can both catch our flight. For anyone wondering, we are going back to Austin TX just to say hi.

After four hours, we got to our destination.

It was just like three years ago when I came here but different. Taylor wasn’t a kid anymore, she was tall, added a little weight but in the right places and very immediately. We are reconnecting and it’s not like kid or teenagers but like adult this time.

We hugged tightly, Aunt Maggie wasn’t the one who came to pick us, it was Taylor who was driving her own car now. I know Taylor has always wanted her driver’s license, she talks about it all the time but she was a kid then now she’s an adult. I’d admit, I miss my kid days but being an adult is so much fun, I feel so free now.

Taylor drove us home and I immediately threw myself on Aunt Maggie.

“Dove, you’re all grown up now” she says, she hugs my mom too.

I looked around for Derek but I couldn’t find him.

“And Derek?” I ask.

“Oh, he’s not around, he’s in school and they are having exams but he should be back home next week. I’d tell him you’re around” Taylor replies.

Derek is going to school? He did take my advise after all. I can’t help but smile within.

“Actually mom” I faced my mom. “I want to start going to college here in Austin” I tell her.

“Then we can apply for the same school” Taylor squeals.

“Absolutely!!”

We spent the rest of our time together and before I knew with one week has past. Derek is coming back and I can’t wait to see him again.

I woke up this morning by a text, unknown number.

I’m outside, can you come out?

Is this Derek? My heart raced. It has to be him,i can feel it. I got up from bed and washed my face when went out but I didn’t see anyone, I looked around, checked all the garden but there was no one.

Was that Taylor pulling a prank on me? I turn around to leave but I bumped into someone familiar. My heart catapults to the next level, beating irregularly. This is Derek but a different version. He’s not dressed as a bad boy but dressed casual, he looks different, healthier than ever ( I can tell he had quit smoking ) and he’s even more good looking, better than before.

“You look beautiful in brunette” He says with a smile.

“Derek!” I threw myself to his arms. I can do this in public and never feel anything, I’m an adult now and we aren’t doing it wrong this time.

Derek wrapped his arms around me and inhaled my scent.

“You smell like Dove” he says and I can’t help but chuckle.

He pulls away, his big hands cupping my cheeks.

“How have you been?” He asks.

“I’ve been good, you?”

“Better than ever. So are you seeing someone now or is that lips still mine?” He smirks.

My cheek burnt, Derek might has changed from that bad boy to a good boy but I bet he still had few left in him.

I tiptoe and plant a little kiss on his lips.

“It’s still yours”

Derek stared at me for a while, his eyes burning into mine and I can see different emotions, there’s love, passion, lust and many more. I can tell he miss me as much as I miss him.

He cupped my cheeks and pulled me close then pressed his lips on mine but he wasn’t returning my little kiss, he was kissing me breathless and so was I. I don’t care if we were outside, we weren’t doing anything wrong anymore.

When he pulls away, I was breathless.

He pulls out his hands to me. “Let’s go in” he says.

I nod and accept his hand. He interlocked our fingers together and flashed me a smile, I returned the smile back and we both went in. No more hiding or sneaking around, Derek and I are together now and we want the whole world to know.
