‘Thank you all for hourning my impromptu invitation,’ Oga Mba appreciated Aunty Ifeoma and Martha for coming to see him.

‘I hope all is well?,’ Aunty Ifeoma had to ask. ‘Because the urgency of this call got me worried. I was even thinking Martha had done something wrong,’ she stated.

‘No, Martha has done nothing. I am the one that summoned you all here,’ he paused. ‘I called to inform you all that I and my family are relocating to Canada. We are moving tomorrow. So that is why I called to let you all know,’ Oga Mba said.

‘Wow! What a good news. And I am really happy for you all for this great move. May God grant you all a journey of mercy,’ Aunty Ofeoma said, honestly.

‘Mrs. Ifeoma, we are really grateful to you for giving us the opportunity to know Martha. She has been a wonderful servant to us. And never for one day I regretted ever knowing her. She’s very truthful, hardworking and intelligent. In fact, she has been a blessing to us all in this familyhood. And it would be a great evil against God and humanity if we had left the country without settling her after these years with us,’ he paused, staring at his wife. She signaled him to speak up. ‘On behalf of me and my family, I am using that shop and all the goods inside to settle Martha. I have paid for five years’ rent for her already. So, as from today henceforth, that shop belongs to her,’ Oga Mba announced.

The whole thing sounded like a joke in their ears. It was as if Oga Mba was pulling their legs. They could not believe it.

‘Mr. Mba, what did you just say now? Because I am not sure I heard you loud and clear,’ Aunty Ifeoma had to ask to be sure that her ears were not deceiving her.

‘You people heard me right. What you heard is exactly what I said. That shop belongs to Martha from now henceforth,’he had to repeat again.

Just then, the two of them spreaded themselves on the floor in appreciation. They were very much grateful. As they poured baskets full of thanks onto Oga Mba and his family.

‘Please you people should stand up. Who are we to deserve all these? Whatever we have done to Martha is because she deserved it. She has been a daughter to us. So that’s the little means of appreciating her,’ Oga Mba’s wife added while lifting them up in tears.

They danced, rejoiced, laughed, prayed and ate together that day.

Oga Mba and his family would leave early in the morning.

So before Martha and her aunt left that day, it was night already.

The shop keys were handed to Martha. The new owner. The house gate spare keys were given to them. And the hideout where the keys into the house would be hidden was shown to them. They want Martha and Aunty Ifeoma to come and pack the remaining things in the house before handing over the keys to the house to the new owner.

The following day, Oga Mba and his family jetted off to Canada.
