    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE EIGHTY SIX:

    PART II:

    A warrant had been issued for the arrest of Kizito.

    Kizito cannot be arrested on a sickbed while in the hospital. But he was put on a police hold. And the hospital gave the police maximum cooperation. Men of the police were assigned to watch over Kizito day and night unknowingly to anybody except the doctor.

    Finally, Kizito was arrested when he was well enough to be discharged from the hospital. He was handcuffed and whisked away for interrogation.

          >INTERROGATION ROOM<

    Detective James sat face to face with Kizito on more of a round table in an interrogation room.

    He was set to interrogate Kizito.

    ‘I have asked time without numbers why I am here. But it seems you all have become deaf and dumb,’ Kizito heaved a deep breath. ‘Why are mine here?,’ he asked again.

    ‘Young man, all I need from you is your maximum cooperation. I have a few questions to ask you. I need nothing but the truth from you,’ Detective James began.

    ‘What truth do you need from me?,’ Kizito asked.

    ‘First of all, kindly accept my sincere condolences for the death of your father..’, Detective James was saying before he was interrupted.

    ‘What the hèll are you talking about?,’ Kizito interrupted.

    ‘Your father was gruesomely murdered on the 2nd of last month…’, he announced to the hearing of Kizito.

    ‘I don’t know what you are talking about. All I know is that my father is alive, healthy and hearty. He is on a long business trip abroad,’ Kizito explained, debunking James who said his father was kîlled.

    ‘That is the lie you have been living with for a long time now. Anyway, you were told that lie because of your health. But the truth is that your father is dead,’ Detective James announced. Then brought out a newspaper, opened the page that carried the news and showed him. He also showed him pictures of his late father in the pool of his blood.

    Kizito, finding out that his father was truly dead, burst into a loud cry. Detective James allowed him to cry to his satisfaction before finally giving him a handkerchief to clean his tears.

    Detective James continued when Kizito was done crying: ‘On the night you had an accident, where were you coming back from at that ungodly hour?,’ he asked.

    ‘That is none of your business,’ Kizito replied, still sobbing.

    ‘What if I tell you that you kîlled your father..’, he added.

    ‘Then I will tell you that you are crazy. How can I kîll my own father? From the information I have gathered here so far, my father died while I was still fighting for my life on the hospital bed,’ Kizito interrupted.

    ‘Well, you might not pull the trigger yourself but you gave the order on the night you had the accident,’ Detective James said.

    ‘Impossible!’, Kizito screamed.

    ‘What if I tell you that the man that snatched your girlfriend away from you was your father. What if I tell you that the man you ordered Dragon to kîll was your father,’ Detective James released the bombshell.

    Kizito was shocked to hear that. As he left his mouth wide open staring in shock dumbfoundedly.

    ‘God! Let this not be true. Let it not be what I am thinking. Let it not be that I kîlled my father..’ These were thoughts racing against each other in Kizito’s mind amid regret and guilt.

    ‘For your information, the whole thing started between your father and miracle on the day you brought her home for your father’s 65th birthday. That was when your father met her,’ Detective James explained further.

    Kizito had his head bowed on the table, crying. Moments later, he started journeying on the memory lane…

                   FLASHBACK:

    The fainting light had revealed the gathering of the dreaded men of ‘Xion fraternity’ in the middle of the night, around a bonfire. The scene of their meeting was quiet and secluded. All members were cladded in black attires and red berets.

    After their gyration session which included drumming and dancing, their Capone, Kizito, stepped forward to address them.

    ‘…lion we all are;
    All parts of a lion are poisonous,
    Especially the tail of a lion
    The lion’s tail is a venom.
    Therefore, no one touches the lion’s tail,
    And go scot free.
    He who touches the lion’s tails will be devoured by the lion..’

    Kizito paused before continuing:

    ‘A man has dared my tail. He didn’t only touch my tail but he bit my tail off me. He took away what is so precious to me. The only thing that gives me joy is what he has taken..’

    Kizito paused, shaking his head in anger amid sober reflection.

    He continued: ‘I don’t want to know his identity. I don’t care whosoever he’s, all I know is that he shall pay with his life. He shall go down..’

    Kizito turned to one of his members: ‘Dragon, I want you to lead the squad. Please make sure you bring him down. Show no mercy. I want his blood to spill on the ground. Let him rot in hell.

    I would have asked you to bring home his head but let’s temper Justice with mercy. So that his people will have his remains to bury…’

    When Kizito was done talking, he lifted his gun up and released some gunshots on air in amazement of his fraternity members who jumped up in celebration.

    Meanwhile, Kizito had confessed to being the one that gave the order. He cried his eyes out because he never knew that the person he ordered his boiz to kîll was his father. He really regretted his actions. He wished he could draw the hand of the clock backwards but the damage had been done.

    The wrath of the law has been awaiting Kizito to devour. As the police had charged him and his accomplices to court.

    They remained in the maximum prison amid their long trial.

    The trial prolonged until the judgment day came. Dragon was sentenced to death by hanging while Kizito and other accomplices were sentenced to life imprisonment.

    As the prison wardens led Kizito out from the courtroom, accompanied by his crying mother, Lo and behold, Miracle.

    THE END…!!!

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE EIGHTY FIVE:

    Officer Tunde, who was standing next to James in the interrogation room, as a result of the investigation into this same Chief’s death, had come to know that Chief’s only child was bearing Kizito. But even as Dragon was mentioning Kizito, Tunde never thought of the late Chief’s son. Though there was no way he would have thought of him because his father was the person mûrdered. Or can a son order for the kîllîng of his father?

    ‘Can you please describe this Kizito,’ Detective James asked.

    Dragon gave out a perfect description of Kizito.

    And from Dragon’s descriptions, who Officer Tunde was picturing was Kizito, the son of late Chief.

    ‘The late Chief’s only son is bearing Kizito too. And his descriptions matched with him. I have his picture. Let me get that from my office,’ Officer Tunde whispered into James’ ear and made way to his office.

    Moments later, Officer Tunde returned with the picture. He handed it to James.

    ‘Is he the person you are talking about?,’ Detective asked, brandishing the picture to Dragon.

    ‘Yes. He is our Capone. He is the person that gave the order,’Dragon said, nodding his head in affirmation of his words.

    ‘Impossible!,’ Officer Tunde screamed. ‘Are you sure there is no mistake of identity here? Look at that picture very well,’ he Instructed Dragon.

    ‘I don’t need to look at the picture again. He is our Capone. Kizito is a final year student of public administration. You can go and verify,’ Dragon said, very much sure.

    Even when it was very obvious that Dragon was telling the truth, Officer Tunde could still not believe him. He believed that there was a mistake of identity.

    ‘Why did he order the killing of Chief?,’ Officer Tunde curiously asked.

    ‘He did that for love. Our Capone, Kizito, is a jealous lover. A lady who he loved and cherished so much was going out with the man. So when he got the information, he became very angry. And the worst part of it was that this girl in question, started avoiding my Capone all because of that same man. Not just that, she later broke up with my capone. As such, my Capone was heartbroken. He was shattered into pieces. So when he could no longer bear the fact that another man had snatchen his girlfriend away from him, he ordered the execution of the man. And he entrusted me with the assignment,’ he paused. ‘So we spied on him. That night he met his death, he lodged in the hotel with Miracle on the mainland. It was on a weekend. Unfortunately for him, he drove out from the hotel alone, probably because he wanted to go get something, so we trailed and kîlled him. We shot him dead mercilessly that fateful night..,’ Dragon explained.

    Dragon’s explanation hit all the officers like a thunderbolt, especially Officer Tunde. They could not believe it. How can Kizito kill his father because of a woman? This was a question that clouded their head.

    ‘Before Kizito gave you the execution order, did he realize the true identity of the man that snatched his girlfriend away from him?,’ Officer Kunle curiously asked.

    ‘No! As a matter of fact, none of us knows the true identity of the man because of the nature of the secrecy of their relationship. But one of our members, in the person of ‘Lighter,’ had seen them severally in a hotel in Lagos island. So he was the person that alerted our Capone on what was going on..,’ Dragon explained.

    ‘Have you met Kizito’s family…I mean do you know his father?,’ Officer Tunde had to come in.

    ‘No, I don’t know any member of his family, let alone knowing his father. And I can beat my chest and tell you that none of our brotherhood members knows any of his family members including his father. Because Kizito was so secretive when it comes to his family,’ Dragon explained.

    The interrogation continued.

    Meanwhile, Kizito doesn’t know that his father has died. Because of the condition of his health, his mother was advised not to tell him. So she managed to keep the truth away from him. Although Kizito suspected that something bad had happened because he had caught his mother crying severally. But whenever he approached his mother on what the problem was, she would lie to him that she lost her elder sister in the village.

    All Kizito’s mind was that his father traveled on a long business trip abroad. That was the lie told to him. And he has been living with this lie for the past one month now.

    The worst part of it was that Kizito has been living in the dark. He has no phone with him. As he lost all his phones during the accident.

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE EIGHTY FOUR:

    DETECTIVE OFFICE <

    Detective James sat very stranded in his office. He was totally lost in thought because of the none fruitfulness of the case so far.

    Just then, Officer Kunle entered.

    ‘Officer, has she confessed? I mean any hint?,’ Detective James asked, very curious.

    ‘She has not confessed,’ he paused. ‘Detective, I think that young girl is innocent. She doesn’t have a hand in Chief’s death. I am very sure of that,’ he said, exonerating Miracle.

    ‘Then who is responsible?,’ Detective asked, very frustratingly.

    ‘That’s exactly what we need to find out. And we have less than two weeks to do so,’ he paused. ‘But one thing that still baffles me is how can a girl be having a sèxûàl relationship with both father and son at the same time?,’ Officer Kunle raised a point.

    ‘That is a big hint…’

    Detective James was still talking when Officer Tunde walked into his office.

    ‘Look, I have good news. Look at what I found,’ he said, brandishing the ID card he found amid a glimpse of happiness and hope.

    ‘Where did you get it from?,’ Officer Kunle had to ask.

    ‘I was in the office when a spirit spoke to me to go and search the victim’s vehicle again. I did as the spirit directed. And behold, this is what I found. The ID card was stuck inside the seat cover of the vehicle. The ID must have fallen from one of the kîllèrs,’ Officer Tunde explained.

    ‘Good!,’ Detective James said, taking a deep breath. ‘Can I have the ID,’ he said and stretched his hand for the ID.

    Officer Tunde handed the ID to him. Detective James took a very long look at the ID before announcing: ‘This is a student’s ID. That means, the perpetrators are students,’ he said, turning to Officer Kunle. ‘I want you to run a comprehensive profile check on the bearer of this ID. I want his information on my desk tomorrow morning,’ he instructed.

    ‘Okay, sir,’ Officer Kunle replied and left to carry out the task with immediate effect.

    Detective James turned to Officer Tunde: ‘Join forces with him. I need the information first thing tomorrow morning. You can leave now,’ he said.

    Miracle was later released from detention after no skeleton was found in her cupboard.

    Officer Kunle and his colleague did a wonderful job. They had submitted the information to Detective James. The file was on Detective James’s table even before he came to work the next day.

    The result of the profile check on the suspect was very worrisome. As a matter of fact, he was no longer a student. From the investigations, the institution had expelled him a long ago as a result of cułtîsm. And he happened to be one of the bad boys terrorizing the school and its environments.

    With immediate effect, a warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest.

    The police trailed the suspect and arrested him in his house. He was not arrested alone; he was arrested with his gang. Many weapons including gûns were recovered in his house. They were caught taking different kinds of hard drugs.

    The criminals were interrogated in a very hard way but they were proving so difficult to crack down. To the extent that the police had no option than to torture them.

    The prime suspect was Dragon. That was his nickname.

    Dragon recieved the lionshare of the torture on a verge hope of him confessing but all to no avail. He was even shot on the leg, still, he refused to talk. A hot iron had been used to inflict all kinds of injuries on his back, showcasing a map of the world. But all efforts proved abortive.

    Dragon was more of a half dead in the police custody as the tortures had eaten deep into him. But he still refused to confess to the crime of kîllîng Chief.

    However, Dragon finally confessed. That day, his legs were hung upwards while his head laid beneath. He had spent almost a day in that position.

    ‘Help! Help!! I will confess! I will confess!! I will confess!!! ,’ Dragon was shouting with his last strength.

    ‘…who kîlled Chief?’, Detective James asked. Meanwhile, Dragon had been released from the severe bondage. He sat on the stool with his hands tied back.

    ‘I led the team that kîlled him,’ Dragon had to confess.

    ‘Who sent you to kîll him?,’ Detective James added.

    ‘Nobody,’ Dragon said.

    ‘It’s crystal clear that you are telling a lie. I ask again, who hired you and your gang to kîll him?,’ he asked.

    ‘Nobody,’ Dragon reluctantly said.

    ‘Then why did you and your gang kîlled him?,’ Detective James asked again, angrily.

    Dragon kept quiet. And Detective James had repeated the same question over and over again. But he refused to answer.

    Then, Detective James had to resort into torture again. He jerked Dragon’s head and soaked it deep into the water. The water was in a big basin. He let Dragan to suffocate beneath the water.

    ‘Are you ready to talk now or not?,’ Detective James asked while pressing his head deep deep down the water.

    ‘I will. I am ready. I will confess..,’ Dragon managed to say while gasping for air.

    Detective James released him. You need to see the way he was catching up with the air as if the air was running away.

    ‘For the last time, who sent you to kîll Chief?,’ Detective James asked.

    ‘Our Capone gave the order,’ Dragon confessed.

    ‘Who is your Capon,’ Detective James had to ask.

    ‘His name is Kizito,’ Dragon said.

    ‘Who is Kizito..i mean what is the real name of this your Capone?,’ Detective had to ask, curiously.

    ‘I only know him by his nickname. I don’t know his real name,’ Dragon honestly said.

    ‘Where is this Kizito?’, Detective asked.

    ‘I learned he is in the hospital right now. On the night he gave me the order during our gathering, he had a terrible accident while returning home that night,’ Dragon explained.

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE EIGHTY THREE:

    PART I :

    After the hospital had confirmed Chief dèàd, the police took his body for autopsy and investigation on what led to his mûrder.

    The late Chief’s family, friends and well-wishers had challenged the police to investigate and fish out the perpetrators of the kîllîng. And the police had assured the general public that the perpetrators of the act would be brought to book.

    The police had started a thorough investigation on the Chief’s mûrdèr case.

    A week later, the first arrest was made.

    Lolo was in the hospital with her son when about three gentlemen walked into their ward.

    ‘Mrs. Margret Udenwa..’, one of the police called.

    ‘Yes! Who are you and how can I help you?’, Lolo replied.

    ‘I am Detective James,’ he said, brandishing his ID card. ‘You are under arrest..’, the officer could not finish before he was interrupted.

    ‘Under arrest for what? What have I done?..,’ Lolo queried amid confusion.

    ‘You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law,’ James announced.

    Lolo was handcuffed and whisked away to the station for interrogation.

    Kizito was very much unconscious when the whole thing happened. He was totally unaware of his environment.

    In fact, it was the information gotten from the late Chief’s doctor’s friend that led to the arrest of Lolo as the prime suspect to Chief’s death. The doctor revealed everything to the police. I mean the DNA result. As the doctor was of the strong belief that Lolo masterminded the kîllîng of her husband to conceal her secret.

    Lolo was detained and was being interrogated.

                    >DPO OFFICE<

    The DPO was seated in his office when an officer walked in. The officer was smartly dressed in full police uniform. He saluted the DPO and remained standstill.

    ‘Detective, what is the situational report? Any progress?’, the DPO queried.

    ‘We are making progress. As a matter of fact, we have made an arrest..’, Detective said.

    ‘Good. So, who’s the suspect? ‘, DPO asked.

    ‘The investigation has led to the arrest of the late Chief’s wife as the prime suspect. We are still interrogating her..’, James explained.

    ‘Look, Detective, I want results. The pressure is much on me in respect to this case. Even the commissioner of police is interested in this case. So are the other high profile people in the society,’ he sighed before continuing. “We have limited time to find the culprits. We have less than a month to do so or the case will be transferred out from this unit to another unit. So you guys should get back to work. I need a result!,’ the DPO screamed.

    ‘Okay, sir,’ the detective saluted and left.

               >DETECTIVE OFFICE <

    ‘Detective, I think that woman doesn’t have a hand in her husband’s death,’ Officer Kunle said.

    ‘You are right. There are more to this case,’ Detective James added.

    ‘What do we do?,’ Officer Kunle asked.

    ‘Officer Kunle, we need to work harder. We have to grind more. Brainstorm more and more. We need results. We have no time on our side,’ Detective James said.

    Silence prevailed. As the Officers buried their heads in thoughts.

    ‘I have an idea,’ Officer Kunle broke the silence.

    ‘Okay, I am listening,’ Detective James replied, with a glimpse of hope.

    ‘From my investigations, the deceased was a chronic womanizer. He has a lot of mistresses, especially the university students. So it could be possible that one of his mistresses might have a hand in his death..’, Officer Kunle suggested.

    ‘You are on point,’ Detective James concord. ‘Let’s get to work. We have no time to waste. Let’s find out his mistresses, especially those he was still going out with before his gruesome murder,’ he said.

    The investigation led to the second arrest. The suspect was Miracle.

    Miracle was detained and interrogated for days.

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE EIGHTY TWO:

    Meanwhile, before anything, Mr. Tunde had a one on one session with Chief in his office.

    At first, Mr. Tunde asked for Chief’s story so as to know what must have prompted him to embark on the DNA journey. And Chief made no mistake in narrating his story.

    ‘Are you sure you are ready for this because the result could be either way?,’ Mr. Tunde had to ask after hearing Chief’s side of the story.

    Chief was dumbfounded. As he was very scared. It was clearly written over him.

    ‘Or you should take your time to think about it before making the final decision,’ Mr. Tunde suggested having observed how scary he was.

    ‘It seems like you are not a business minded person. Because you are really discouraging me. Or does it mean that you doesn’t want money?,’ Chief had to ask amid surprise. Because the money involved in the DNA was very huge. And instead of the doctor encouraging him so as to sell his market, he was somehow doing the opposite.

    ‘Chief, it’s not all about the money here. Look, I think of my client’s psychology well being first before any other thing..’, Mr. Tunde made it clear.

    Silent. As Chief had to digest the whole thing.

    ‘I am ready for this. Let’s do this,’ Chief had to man up and declare.

    ‘Are you sure?,’ Mr. Tunde had to ask.

    ‘Yes, let’s proceed. I am ready,’ Chief reaffirmed his readiness.

    ‘Okay,’ Mr. Tunde said.

    ‘So when will the result be ready?,’ Chief had to ask.

    ‘The result will be out on or before seven working days. This is because we are yet to start the analysis here in Nigeria. So, for now, we will send the samples to our partner company in the UK for analysis before the final result..’, Mr. Tunde explained.

    Chief left the DNA center very downcast. He was very much scared of the unknown. His earnest prayer was for the result to come out positive.

    The waiting period seemed ageless to Chief. But he was patient enough, hoping for a call. Because Mr. Tunde promised to call him for the result whenever it was ready.

    Meanwhile, Chief managed to keep all his moves in secrecy. To the extent that his wife never for one day suspected anything.

    Kizito was still in the hospital when the DNA result came out. That fateful day, Chief received a call from Mr. Tunde to come for the DNA test result. Chief was very much scared to the extent he thought of not going again for the result. But at the end, he had to go because he wanted to know the truth.

    When Chief got to the DNA office, Mr.Tunde began to counsel him even before giving him the result. It then dawned on Chief that the worst had happened. And at the end, when Chief opened the result, Kizito was not his son. He broke into tears as he couldn’t hold it as a man. Kizito happened to be his only child. A boy he had labored for all his life to give him the best in life has now turned out not to be his child.

    Chief was totally down. It was as if all the blood in him was sucked off. At first, Chief thought he was dreaming and waiting to wake up from sleep. But it wasn’t a dream but a reality. The trauma was too much for him.

    When Chief got home that day, he called his wife to come home with immediate effect. Because Lolo was still in the hospital with her son.

    The urgency of the call alone forced Chief’s wife home immediately. She thought something bad had happened.

    Lolo came home panting like an agama lizard that fell from an iroko tree. On getting to the sitting room, Chief handed her the DNA result. But she vehemently denied it.

    ‘…so this is the reason you called me home and I left the hospital running home like a mad woman thinking that something bad happened? Papa Ifeanyi, I am disappointed in you. Your son is in the hospital fighting for his life and you are here chasing after destruction? So the family we have built for the past thirty years..this is how you want to use your hand to destroy it in a twinkling of an eye?,’ she paused, staring at her husband in big disappointment. ‘I am out of here since you don’t have anything serious to say,’ she said and left.

    Chief immediately found himself swimming in the ocean of confusion. He began to think otherwise. In fact, he wanted to believe his wife just to make himself happy. Because the whole thing has destabilized his entire life so far. As his entire life was in a total disarray.

    Amid the confusion and anger, Chief brought out his phone and called Mr. Tunde to ask him if he was sure about the result. You needed to see the anger in his voice as he was asking the question.

    At first, Tunde calmed Chief down and told him that he was very much sure of the result. He even referred Chief to other places he can try doing another test if he was still doubting the result.

    Chief was between the devil and the deep blue sea. He was very confused and didn’t know what to do next. He went to his doctor’s friend who gave him the DNA idea. When the doctor saw the result, he wasn’t surprised at all. He told him that the result can’t be a mistake because DNA does not lie and that the 22 loci region happened to be the highest in the Paternity test.

    After the meeting with the doctor, Chief felt more convinced and went back home very determined to force the truth out of his wife.

    Chief went home that day and accosted his wife on the Issue. He demanded the truth from her. He even went physical on her. And even threatened his wife that if she does not tell him the truth, that he would go to their church and show their pastor the result. And he would also take the result to her people at the village and also to his own people as well. So after hearing him say that, Lolo broke down into tears and confession started.

    Lolo confessed that before she met Chief, that she was a month gone already. And because Chief was more responsible than his then boyfriend, she had to pin the pregnancy upon him. That even the real father was not aware she was pregnant for him.

    Chief was in great shock. It was like a daydream to him. He cried bitterly like a baby. He was broken. As his heart was shattered into pieces.

    The only child Chief had has turned out to be another man’s child.

    It was on Monday morning that the sad news of Chief’s death broke like a wildfire.

    He was mûrdered in a cold blood on his way home that night.

    The patrol team of the police found him in his pool of blood that night and on getting to the hospital, he was declared dead immediately.

    Chief was already dead on arrival.

    PREVIOUSLY ON A DAUGHTER’S REVENGE:

    …meanwhile, the shock still held Miracle hostage even as Kizito had left. As her buttocks were glued up in the chair. She was totally lost in thought.

    ‘Hello ma, cash, transfer or Pos?,’ the eatery attendant was asking. But all her energy fell on deaf ears. As Miracle was very much unaware of her environment.

    At one point, the attendant had to tap Miracle. It was then she realized herself.

    ‘Oh, sorry’, Miracle apologized having found out how stranded the lady had been standing there.

    ‘Ma, cash, transfer or Pos,’ the attendant repeated.

    ‘Pos,’ Miracle stuttered. Then dipped hand into her handbag and brought out her ATM card.

    Miracle settled the bills and dragged her heavy legs out of the eatery.

    Actually, Miracle was caught with a man in a very big hotel somewhere on Lagos island. However, it wasn’t Kizito that saw them but one of his boys. Though the boy did not see the face of the man but his broad back as he walked together with Miracle into the hotel.

    But he saw Miracle clearly.

    THE CONTINUATION:

    Kizito was involved in a fatal accident. He hit a road bump with his vehicle at great speed and ran into the bush, colliding against trees. The accident happened at midnight. And he was very drunk. Only God knows where he was coming back from at that ungodly hour.

    It was the police patrol team that came to his rescue that night. And he was rushed to the hospital unconscious.

    Kizito sustained many injuries. He lost so much blood. He also broke one of his leg. And he was having an internal bleeding.

    The information got to his parents the following morning. And before the cock could crown three times that morning, they were already in the hospital.

    Kizito was short of blood. And a donor was needed urgently to save Kizito. However, Chief and his wife decided to have their blood tested in order to know who has the same blood group with their son.

    But to their surprise when the result came out, they were informed that none of them has the same blood group with their son. And that became a big cause to worry about especially to Chief. As the whole thing has raised many questions begging for an answers.

    However, In order to save Kizito whose life was at stake, an alternative path was taken. Chief had to pay for blood which was used to save the life of Kizito first.

    As a matter of fact, the doctor of the hospital where Kizito was admitted was not just a friend but also a brother to Chief. So after all said and done, he met with the doctor to discuss what could be the problem on why the bloods, especially his own blood, could not match with that of his son. Because, to his best of knowledge, either of them should have been matched with that of his son.

    ‘…Doctor, what could be the problem?’, Chief finally asked.

    ‘My brother, this case is very very complicated. This is a situation where no parents pray for it to befall upon them..’, the doctor said.

    ‘Doctor, what exactly do you mean?..’, Chief inquired curiously.

    ‘Are you sure you are the father of that young man?’, the doctor had to ask the unexpected question.

    At first, Chief was furious and disappointed but he later had to calm down and answered the doctor by saying, “Of course, why would you be asking me such a question? I am disappointed in you because I am expecting another medical explanation to this complication not to question my paternity to my son.’

    Meanwhile, Kizito’s mother was innocent about the whole thing because she didn’t know the implication of a child not matching either of the parent’s blood group.

    ‘While, medically, a child should have either the mother’s or father’s blood group..’, the doctor was explaining before he was interrupted by the curious Chief.

    ‘What are you trying to say?’, Chief asked amid confusion.

    ‘In a case like this, it’s either you are not the father of the child or your wife is not the mother because one of you is supposed to match. But since none is a match, then there is a big problem..’, the doctor finally declared.

    They continued the private talking in the doctor’s office that fateful day.

    However, Chief didn’t take it seriously because it sounded odd to him. Even when he informed his wife about it, her answer was: ‘Don’t mind that stûpîd doctor.’

    Days later, Kizito was recovering tremendously. But Chief’s mind was no longer at rest because he didn’t know what to do and the issue had become too heavy a burden to him. One day, he went back to the doctor and asked for advice on what to do. The doctor made it clear to him that if he wanted to be sure of everything, he should have a paternity test done on his son.

    So when the doctor made mention of DNA to Chief, he almost collapsed because he knew what that meant. As It was too much for him to handle. But he had to be a man and face whatever was about to happen.

    Chief had made the decision to take the bold step even though it was not easy. The doctor, his friend, gave him an idea of where he would carry out the test here in Lagos and the cost.

    With immediate effect, Chief started the DNA process. He booked an appointment with the CEO of the company, Mr. Tunde. But one important question he never failed to ask was how accurate the result could be so as to know what he was about to get himself involved into.

    ‘…while, the accuracy of the result could be 99.99% if you are the father and 0% if you are not the father..’ That was the explanation Chief got in respect to his question. As Mr. Tunde explained everything about DNA to him without leaving any stone unturned.

    On the appointment day, Chief went with the sample he was asked to bring. Meanwhile, Chief was initially asked to come with his son for the collection of samples but due to the complications and secrecy of the whole thing, Mr. Tunde then told him what and what to bring. And Chief made no mistake bringing the requirements.

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE EIGHTY:

    It has dawned on Serah that Miracle doesn’t want to open up to her. And she doesn’t want to force it as well. So it wouldn’t bring problems between them.

    ‘If you say so, no problem. But don’t forget that a problem shared is half solved,’ Serah added.

    Miracle did not say a word. As she faced her snacks.

    ‘Miracle, where do you always go on weekends? Unlike you, you hardly stay around during weekends. And from my observations so far, you also sleep out on weekends. What’s happening? Where do you normally go?,’ Serah asked.

    ‘Serah, how can you ask a grownup lady like me such a stûpîd question? Look, whether I sleep out or don’t stay at home weekends, how is that your business? Why can’t you mind your business for God sake? If I may ask, those days you used to spend the nights in your boyfriends house, have I ever for one day questioned you on that?,’ Miracle had to ask.

    ‘Miracle, it’s very obvious you are not sleeping in Kizito’s house. Because you don’t really like doing that. So I wonder where you go almost every weekend..’, Serah countered, demanding to know her whereabouts on weekends.

    ‘Look, if you don’t stop poke nosing into my private affair, then you shall dïè wondering. Lest you forget, you are just my friend, not my parents. Even my mother, she doesn’t poke nose into my private affairs this much. Serah, please mind your business,’ Miracle added, somehow angry.

    ‘Babe, I am smelling something fishy around you. Miracle, it seems like you have begun to indulge into something bad. But just be careful. That’s all I have to say. I am concerned because you are my good friend. And I don’t want you to get involved in anything that will ruin your life on this campus..’, Serah stated.

    ‘Serah, this is my piece of advice for you: whenever you have noticed that someone doesn’t want to get you involved in his or her private affairs, please kindly keep off. Stop forcing yourself or getting yourself involved whereas you are not invited,’ she paused. ‘Are mine not your friend too? How many times have I forced myself into your private matter? You will never see me do that. I will only come in if I am invited. Please Serah, learn how to mind your business. I don’t like people burgling into my private space uninvited. I hàtè it so much,’ Miracle remarked so much.

    ‘I am sorry. You know I am doing all these because I care. You are not just a friend to me but also a sister..’, Serah was very sorry but very much worried for her friend, Miracle.

    ‘And then? Even if I am your sister, can’t you respect my privacy? I don’t like it. And you know that very well. Please stop it..,’ Miracle made it clear, already, she was very angry.

    Just then, Miracle angrily stood up, paid for what they ate and left the eatery without a goodbye to Serah.

    Miracle lived a very principled life. Her privacy meant a world to her. She háte it so much when someone intrudes into her private space uninvited. And that was the major problem she had with Serah.

    Although Serah was doing everything she was doing for the love and care she had for Miracle. It was all for sisterhood. But Miracle doesn’t see it that way. She saw Serah as an intruder into her private space.

    If not that Serah was a sister that Miracle cannot do without, she would have done away with her in her life. But Serah has become part and parcel of her. So no matter how they quarrel, they would still find a way to mend fences.

    Kizito has waited for Miracle for over an hour now. Professor Femi had locked them up in an intensive and marathon lecture. Kizito parked his car not far away from Miracle’s lecture hall waiting patiently for them to be through.

    It was around 6:30pm at dot that Miracle was done with Professor Femi’s lecture. She came out of the lecture hall tired and hungry.

    On sighting Miracle, Kizito alighted down from the car and walked up to her.

    ‘Hello, beautiful. How are you?,’ Kizito greeted her with a smile.

    ‘Hey, what are you doing here?,’ Miracle had to ask because he caught her unaware.

    ‘What do you think I am doing here? Waiting for you of course,’ Kizito replied.

    ‘Why are you waiting for me? I hope there’s no problem?’, Miracle added.

    ‘All is not well at all. Miracle, I don’t seem to understand you anymore. What’s going on? What’s happening? You seem to be avoiding me lately,’ he paused amid frustration. ‘Look, there are many questions begging for answers. We need to talk. That’s why I am here. Let’s go to a quiet place and talk..’, Kizito said.

    ‘Talk about what?,’ Miracle interrupted.

    ‘About us. I don’t seem to understand you anymore. Please let’s go and talk,’ he paused. ‘Get into the vehicle. Let’s get a quiet place and talk..’

    ‘As you can see, I am very tired and hungry. I want to go home, eat and rest. I don’t have that strength for whatever talk you are talking about,’ Miracle made it clear to Kizito.

    ‘Don’t worry about hunger, I will take care of your stomach. Let’s go to the nearest eatery and eat. We have to talk. And it has to be today. I have waited for you for over two hours here for this purpose. So we have to iron things out today..’, Kizito insisted.

    ‘Can’t we leave this talk for another day?,’ Miracle asked.

    ‘No, It has to be today. I have waited for a day like this for so long. So now that I have the opportunity, let’s talk. Because I know I may not be this lucky tomorrow. Reason being that you always avoid me. You no longer always pick my calls. The worst part of it all is that you now hide from me. Let’s talk and let me know what I have done wrong to deserve all these punishments from you. ,’ Kizito said, honestly.

    After much persuasion, Miracle had to enter the vehicle.

    At first, they branched to an eatery where they ate to their satisfaction. Before finally going to a convenient place to talk.

    ‘…babe, what is my offense? Where have I gone wrong? Have I done bad to love you?,’ Kizito asked in a cracking voice as if he would cry.

    ‘What do you mean? What are you talking about?,’ Miracle replied.

    ‘Are you tired of me? Are you tired of our relationship?,’Kizito was bold enough to hit the hammer on the nail.

    ‘How?’.

    ‘Look, your attitude towards me these days speaks loudly of it. Babe, you are just a shadow of your former self in this relationship. Talk to me, what’s the problem?..’, Kizito was saying before Miracle interrupted.

    ‘I still don’t understand what you are talking about,’ Miracle said, nonchalantly.

    ‘You don’t come closer to me any longer. If I call, you hardly pick my calls. If I text you, you hardly reply. The worst of it all is that you now dulged me as if I am serial kîłler…’, Kizito lamented.

    ‘I have told you time without numbers that I am very busy. The studies are getting more intense and very time consuming. That’s why. Look, Is not as if I am avoiding you. No! I am not. Just that I am trying to concentrate more on my studies to meet up because I am lagging behind..’, Miracle stated her reason.

    ‘Are you indirectly calling for a break in our relationship? ,’ Kizito asked, just to know his stance in the relationship.

    ‘Not really. But I want you to understand that I don’t really have much time now. I don’t even have time for myself not to talk of having time for anybody..’, Miracle was saying before Kizito angrily interrupted.

    ‘But you have time for your sugar daddy, ehn? Or you think I don’t know that you now go out with a man who is old enough to be your father. So because of that old man, you no longer sleep in your lodge every weekend. Because of that old man, you now want to throw away the relationship that took us years to build. Or can you deny it?’, Kizito released the bombshell.

    Indeed Miracle was caught up in the whole thing. She never saw this coming. However, she couldn’t deny or accept the accusation either. As she kept opening and closing her mouth without any word coming out.

    ‘Oh, you have suddenly become a dumb that you can’t talk again?. It shocked you, right? You were thinking I will not find out? Look, nothing will remain secret in this life. Because a leg that moves fast, eyes that see faster will see you..,’ Kizito vehemently said in anger.

    ‘I-I-I don’t know what you are talking about..’, Miracle stuttered, denying the accusation.

    ‘Don’t worry, very soon, you will know. Look, I am a lion. No one dares touch my tail and go scot free. I am not giving up on you. No one, not even that old man will take you away from me,’ Kizito made it clear. And amid the intensity and anger flaring up in the air, he drove off leaving Miracle behind. He even forgot to settle the bills.

    Meanwhile, the shock still held Miracle hostage even as Kizito had left.

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE SEVENTY NINE:

    PREVIOUSLY ON A DAUGHTER’S REVENGE:

    ..‘It’s my father’s 65th birthday celebration. So I am going home with you. At least you will
    use the opportunity to meet my parents ,’ he explained.

    ‘No problem, baby m. I am available that day. When is the party?,’ Miracle had to ask, very curious.

    ‘In a month’s time,’ Kizito explained.

    ‘I cannot wait. I am very anxious to meet your people..’, Miracle added.

    A MONTH LATER

    D-Day has come.

    Miracle went home with Kizito on the eve of the birthday bash.

    But something unexpected happened.

    THE CONTINUATION:

    Kizito’s father’s 65th birthday celebration was a bash.

    The occasion was graced by many dignitaries.

    It was an in-house party. And attendance was strictly on invitation.

    Kizito’s father’s mansion was a sight to behold. A giant two storey building. In fact, Miracle never knew that Kizito’s father was this rich.

    Meanwhile, amid the party, Miracle excused herself to attend to her call. She moved to the quiet corner of the house.

    Miracle, in her charming look, was majestically taking a walk round the compound, talking to her caller in admiration of the beautiful surroundings.

    The beautiful mansion was built on two plots of land. It has a large compound. The style of the building has a homey look that’s so beautiful and quaint. The edifice has a mix of shingles and siding. With a beautiful flower landscape.

    Amidst of the call, Miracle had a tap on her shoulder from the back.

    She turned, Lo and behold, it was Chief, Kizito’s father.

    ‘Oh, good day, sir,’ Miracle greeted him in her humbleness after hanging up the call.

    ‘How are you?,’ he asked, smiling stylishly. He had a glass of wine in his hand. His ‘Agbada’ attire portrayed his wealthiness.

    ‘I am fine. Thank you very much,’ Miracle replied.

    ‘You look beautiful. Ever since I set my eyes on you, your beauty kept tormenting me. If I may ask, is your beauty has anything to do with mental disorder because I am màd over you,’ he added, sipping his drink amid a smile.

    ‘Sir, you are such a funny man. Anyway, thank you very much for the compliment,’ Miracle appreciated, smiling too.

    ‘I hope you are not another of my son’s prey? Because he keeps bringing different women home but ends up not marrying any of them. As a matter of fact, we are tired of his wayward lifestyle,’ he sipped his drink before continuing. ‘I hope you have not joined his wagon full of dumped and heartbroken women? Because from the look of things, you are too beautiful and good to be his girlfriend..’, Chief added with every seriousness in his face.

    Having found out the seriousness on his face, Miracle had to ask: ‘Sir, what do you mean by his wagon full of dumped and heartbroken women?..’, Miracle queried, curiously.

    ‘My dear, don’t worry about that. It’s nothing serious. You know In this life, before something will happen, something has to happen,’ he sighed, sipping his drink. ‘The good part of the whole thing is that you are now in safe hands, ehn?. Don’t worry yourself,’ he paused. ‘So what’s a beautiful name given to a beautiful lady like you?,’he asked, In lûstful admiration of Miracle’s beauty.

    ‘Sir, my name is Miracle,’ she replied.

    ‘What a beautiful name. And indeed our meeting today is a miracle. I promise you, after today, your life will never remain the same, only if you are ready to cooperate with me..’, he paused. ‘You are a student, right?’, he asked.

    ‘Yes. I am from the same school as your son’, Miracle replied.

    ‘That’s good. So put your phone number here,’ he said, handing her his phone. A ‘Nokia torch’ phone.

    ‘My phone number? Sir, but that’s not necessary. I am your son’s girlfriend,’ Miracle announced, having noticed what Kizito’s father was up to.

    ‘God forbid! I reject it for you in Jesus name! You can’t be a girlfriend to my son. You are too good for him. I cannot allow you to become yet another of his victims. I cannot allow that to happen. Not under my watch,’ he paused. ‘I insist, put your phone number..’

    ‘But sir..’

    ‘You don’t have to ‘sir’ me, just type your phone number,’ he insisted.

    So when the persuasion was very much, Miracle had to succumb to the Chief’s pressure. She typed her phone number and helped him to save it on the phone.

    Upon handing the phone back to him, Chief demanded for her account number and appreciated her with a sum of hundred thousand naira via transfer.

    ‘That’s for your transportation,’ Chief announced.

    ‘Thank you very much, sir. I really appreciate you for your kind gesture..’, Miracle had to appreciate.

    ‘Don’t mention. There are more to come. But only if you cooperate. Look, I have money. I am an importer and exporter. So there are more from where this came out from,’ he sipped his drink before turning to go. ‘I will call you later. Have a nice day,’ he added before taking his leave.

    ‘Thank you, sir,’ Miracle appreciated once again before turning her attention back to her phone.

    ‘Ehee..,’ Chief’s voice echoed. Miracle turned and it was him coming back again. ‘Let’s I forget, let whatever that happened here dïè between us, okay? I don’t want any third party to hear about it, not even my son,’ he added.

    ‘Okay, sir,’ Miracle replied.

    ‘Good. Enjoy the rest of your day,’ Chief said and left.

    Miracle stood perplexed watching him as he made his way to the party scene as if nothing had happened.

    ‘God! I hope I am not getting myself into trouble like this,’ Miracle was soliloquising. ‘Should I have rejected the money?,’ she paused, contemplating. ‘Anyway, it’s a gift. So I see nothing wrong with that. But I just hope it’s not what I am thinking..’, Miracle said, contemplating.

    Serah and Miracle were in an eatery snacking on something after the hectic lectures of the day.

    The eatery was situated within the school environment. As the two good friends were enjoying their meat pie and soft drinks, they complained bitterly about Professor Femi.

    ‘…my hatred for Professor Femi is increasing everyday. That shàmèlèss old man has successfully turned us from morning students to evening program students. Just look at the time this man is finishing his lecture. This is almost past 6pm..’, Miracle complained bitterly.

    ‘And he is very fond of that. In fact, it’s now a culture for him. He would not come to the class on time and he would not leave the class on time. If not for the fact that he is very strict and takes his attendance very seriously morethan examination, you wouldn’t be seeing anybody in his class..’, Serah added, pouring his anger on innocent meat pie.

    ‘Professor Femi’s own is getting too much. Something has to be done because we can’t continue like this. I am tired of the whole thing..,’ Miracle protested.

    ‘That man is like a mini-god in this institution. He is among the decision makers in this institution. I heard that the chancellor is like a boy to him. That’s the reason he always carries his two shoulders very high as if he has an extra life somewhere,’ she paused. ‘Girlfriend, if you truly want to graduate in this school, just be careful about what you say with Professor’s name. Or have you forgotten what happened to our coursemate, Peter, during our second year? Didn’t you see how this man frustrated this young man with carry overs till Peter quit. Have you forgotten how he told Peter to the hearing of everybody that over his dead body would Peter graduate in this school. At first, we all thought it was an empty thrèàt but we never knew that he meant every word that came out from his mouth. What was the young man’s offense? Because he challenged him for always coming to class late and leaving the class very late as well. That was all. That was the young man’s offense…’, Serah gave Miracle a pinch of advice using Peter’s as a case study.

    ‘You don’t need to tell me all these. Serah, I cannot forget so quickly what this man did to Peter. But my happiness is that he led that young man into a better life now. Peter is doing very well for himself now. He is among the best stylists we have in this campus now. He has more than two unisex barbing salons now on this campus..’, Miracle added.

    ‘God is not a man. Because if the Professor is God, people like Peter wouldn’t be alive today. But thank God God is not a man. One thing I strongly believe is that one day, the Professor will meet his match. He cannot remain king forever..’, Serah strongly added.

    ‘Sure. No king rules forever..’

    ‘Hey, guess who is coming..’. Serah interrupted her.

    ‘Who?’, Miracle curiously asked.

    ‘Your guy..’

    ‘Kizito?,’Miracle interrupted, anxiously.

    ‘Yes, he’s parking his car outs…’

    Before Serah could finish talking, Miracle had vanished. She ran to the restroom to hide.

    ‘Ah! Who is chasing her? Is she actually running from her boyfriend?..’, Serah was asking herself in confusion.

    Kizito had pulled over. Serah watched him from afar as he made way into the supermarket next to the eatery.

    Moments later, Kizito came out from the supermarket with a handful of nylons full of groceries. He offloaded the nylons into the boot before driving off.

    Miracle had finally bundled herself out from her hidden place. You really need to see how she was sweating profusely.

    ‘Babe, what’s the problem? Why are you running away from your boyfriend? What’s going on?,’Serah had to ask, very much confused.

    ‘Nothing is the problem. Just that I don’t want him to see me,’ Miracle replied.

    ‘Hey, is everything okay? Talk to me, what’s the problem?,’ Serah insisted on knowing what was going on.

    ‘Everything is fine. Don’t worry’, Miracle was very reluctant.

    ‘Mama-a-a!,’ Martha exclaimed. ‘Take it easy. Look at the way you are lecturing me about these places as if I am not the person that took you to all these places. But all of a sudden, you have turned the whole thing into a lecture..’, Martha said.

    ‘My dear, memorable places like these are meant to be talked about..’

    ‘Then hold on, when you go back to Canada, you lecture them about these places. Stop lecturing me as if I have not been there before. Whereas I have visited those places several times even before you do..’

    ‘Ooh, Inukwa! How I wish my daughter was here with us to listen to me. At least, she’s a good listener and learner as well..’, Aunty Ifeoma said. The old woman really missed her granddaughter because she was her ‘gisting partner’.

    ‘Mama stop wishing. Just pack your things and go and meet her in the school. So you can gist with her as much as you like,’ Martha said, jokingly.

    ‘I will go,’ she paused. ‘Look, Martha, I must tell you, I really enjoy my days with her in the school morethan I do here. You are so boring to gist with. Don’t worry, I will definitely visit her again and spend some time with her before leaving the country..’, Aunty Ifeoma made it clear.

    ‘You don’t need to tell me. I already know that you two are partners in crime when it comes to ‘amebo’(gossip)..’, Martha jokingly added.

    ‘Ehnmm..let it be. Or are you jealous?’, Aunty Ifeoma asked.

    ‘Mama I am not jealous’, Martha replied, laughing.

    ‘Better not be,’ she paused. ‘I haven’t gist you oh, do you know that I ran into Kelechi and his family. We met in the church. You need to see his first son, he has grown into a full bearded man. From the look of things, KC is doing very well for himself…’, Aunty Ifeoma said.

    ‘That’s none of my business. He is doing well for himself. And I am doing very much well for myself too..’, Martha replied.

    They continued with their discussion.

    Aunty Ifeoma spent almost a month in Kaduna before finally leaving for Lagos. She jetted off to Canada from Lagos. Meanwhile, before leaving the country, she spent some quality days with Miracle in school.

    ‘Miracle, why of all men, you chose to be going out with Kizito?’, Serah asked Miracle in disappointment.

    ‘Is Kizito not a human being? ,’ Miracle had to ask.

    ‘Are you the one asking me this question? Are you pretending to me that you don’t know who Kizito is, ehn?,’ Sarah had to ask, perplexed.

    Silent. As Miracle didn’t reply to Serah’s question.

    ‘Who on this campus doesn’t know who your so-called boyfriend is? Miracle you shouldn’t be going out with such a person. Kizito is going to destroy your life. You are too good for him. You are not wayward so why go out with such a wayward person? A dreaded cûltîst. I even heard he is a leader of their confraternity,’ Serah added.

    ‘How dare you to dictate to me on how to live my life? Even if I chose to go out with a highway armed rubber, is that your business? Why can’t you mind your business in this school? Why poke nosing into my private life?..’, Miracle yelled at her angrily.

    ‘I am doing so because I care about you. You are my friend. And I will not see anything that will bring destruction into your life and keep quiet. I am just being a brother’s keeper..’, Serah honestly said.

    ‘Serah, enough is enough. Mind your business. Please stay away from my relationship. You have no right whatsoever to condemn my man. He is my man not yours,’ she paused, fuming. ‘Look at a pot calling the kettle black. You should first remove what is in your eyes before looking for who to help and remove hers. You that is talking, is your boyfriend better than Kizito?,’ Martha’s thundered.

    ‘Girlfriend, you are overreacting here. All I am saying is nothing but a honest advice from a caring friend and sister. Nothing else!,’ she paused. ‘Yes, my man has his flaws but he is not a cultist..’, Serah yelled back, angry too.

    ‘Serah, if you wouldn’t mind your business, I will be left with no option than to walk you out of my house..’, Miracle made it clear, very serious and determined to do so.

    ‘Walk me out of your house? Has it gotten to that, girlfriend?,’ Sarah asked. She was very shocked. Because from the look on Miracle’s face, she was capable of doing even the worse.

    ‘I mean it. I will do even the worse. So better respect yourself and mind your business. I am an adult. So I know what is good for me…’, Miracle added.

    Miracle really yelled at Sarah. To the extent that Sarah started begging and promised never again to interfere in her private life.

    Sarah happened to be the only close friend Miracle had in the school. The two were of the same department. The two met during their clearance. Serah was very helpful to Miracle during the hectic clearance period.

    Serah started her clearance very early. She was almost through when Miracle started hers. Though it wasn’t Miracle’s fault but that of her mother. Miracle’s mother’s dissatisfaction over the idea of Miracle going to Lagos to study really caused her a big delay. To the extent that she was attending lectures while doing her clearance.

    That fateful day, Serah met Miracle crying amid frustration that the late clearance had caused her. She approached her and Miracle poured out her frustration, therefore, drawing a big pity from Serah. At the end, Serah had to come in. She assisted Miracle in doing her clearance.

    And ever since then, the two became very best of friends. Their friendship spurred the idea of Miracle being regarded as a sister to Serah. Even when they decided to tell their fellow students that they were not of the same blood, everyone doubted them. No one believed them at all. To the extent they had to accept being sisters.

    Miracle and Sarah’s friendship has lasted for two good years now. And for Kizito’s matter not to bring problems between them, Serah had to resort to peace.

    Like a god, Serah appeased Miracle not to be angry. Just for peace to rain.

    The phone rang.

    ‘My heart.’ That was the name of the caller that pooped up. And attached to the name was some love emoji.

    Miracle joyously picked up the call with an astonishing smile on her face. With two legs placed upright on the wall, while the rest of the body lying joyously on the bed,she talked with her boyfriend, Kizito.

    ‘My joy. My sweet heart. My one and only. The only woman that has my ‘mumu’ button. The love of my life. The mother of my unborn children, both male and female..’,Kizito was praising Miracle on the phone.

    Kizito loved Miracle so much that he could die for her. He loved her with all his heart. He could even kîll for her. Many people even thought that Miracle used ‘jazz’ upon him. Because the way Kizito worshiped Miracle got everybody thinking otherwise. A whole ‘001’, ‘strong man’, licking woman’s yansh.

    ‘Baby m, do you know that these names you always call me, it makes my head to scatter into pieces. It makes me to gaga!..’, Miracle said.

    ‘You are the woman that has the keys to my heart. You are my sunshine. You are my queen. And I will forever be your king. Look, I don’t care whatsoever the world is talking, I will forever worship and adore you because you are my goddess..’, Kizito added.

    ‘Baby m, easy..my head wants to scatter. I am feeling on top of the world right now..’, Miracle expressed her honest feeling.

    ‘Omalicha m(my beautiful lady), I will forever adore and honor you because you are the god I am seeing right now,’ he paused. ‘I hope you saw what I sent to you via WhatsApp?’, he asked.

    ‘No. Although I have been offline. What’s that you sent to me?,’ Miracle explained and asked in great curiosity.

    ‘It’s my father’s 65th birthday celebration.

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE SEVENTY SEVEN:

    PREVIOUSLY ON A DAUGHTER’S REVENGE:

    Meanwhile, Mary had prayed and prayed but her efforts proved abortive.

    Martha was in between life and death. As death and life had gone into a bazaar bidding war over her head.

    At this juncture, Mary was left with no option than to visit the mountain. She prayed and fasted. And she made it clear to God that nothing must happen to Martha and her baby. That she wouldn’t be leaving unless Martha had delivered.

    Yes, it’s highly unlikely that one would have a pregnancy that would go beyond 10 or 11 months.

    But in Martha’s case, she carried her pregnancy for 12 months before finally delivering.

    It was a miracle.

    Martha and the baby made it out of the delivery room not just alive, but hale and hearty.

    And it was a baby girl.

    MIRACLE!

    That was what Martha named her child.

    TO BE CONTINUATION:

    Miracle was growing from strength to strength.

    The little child was indeed the joy of Martha’s motherhood. Martha’s sources of happiness.

    Martha was really working hard to make sure she gave Miracle the best of life.

    And as God may have it, Miracle never lacked anything in life.

    Meanwhile, Martha never spared the rod. As she was diligent in disciplining Miracle. Martha did all to her possible best ensuring she was a good parent to her daughter. She showered Miracle love and respect, guiding her, teaching her and protecting her from harm.

    Most importantly, Miracle’s upbringing was in a godly path. Martha really did a wonderful job by training her to develop good habits, make appropriate decisions, and to follow God.

    As the saying goes: train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it. Even as Miracle had become an adult, she never departed from the path her mother brought her up and she continued to do so well into adulthood.

    Miracle was a brilliant child. In fact, she was the true definition of brilliance. She lived a life of emulation. As many parents used her as a case study when admonishing their children to live a worthy life.

    In her secondary school days, Miracle emerged as the best student. And also made excellent grades in her West African Examination Council and Joint Admission And Matriculation Board Examination.

          🏫🎓🎓UNIVERSITY 🏫🏫🎓

    Miracle had successfully secured admission into the University Of Lagos to study Economics. The admission was given to her on merit.

    But from the inception of the whole thing, Martha was against the idea of her daughter going to Lagos to study. As Lagos was a place of her dark memories.

    ‘…my daughter, you have grown to know my stories from the top..down to the bottom. And as you know, Lagos is a place of my dark memories. Lagos is a nightmare to me. Lagos destroyed my life. Lagos holds no good memories in my life,’ she paused. ‘My daughter, please forfeit this admission. Tell me any other university of your choice and I will make sure you secure admission in that institution. Even if it will cost me a lot of money, I wouldn’t mind..,’ Martha was pleading with her daughter on the day she broke the news that Unilag offered her admission.

    ‘Mother, I understand your point. But we are two different human beings when it comes to destiny. Yes, Lagos maltreated you but that doesn’t mean it will do so to me. I am going to Lagos for a purpose and that purpose must be accomplished. Lagos will definitely favor me..,’ she moved closer to her mother and started patting her. ‘Sweet mother, stop worrying yourself. Stop disturbing yourself. I will be alright. I will be fine, ehn?..’

    ‘Are you sure?’, Martha asked.

    ‘Mother, your daughter will be fine. Lagos will not cause me tribulations. Instead, Lagos will favor me..’, Miracle assured her insecure mother.

    ‘I am just worried. I am just afraid. I don’t want anything bad to happen to you..’, Martha expressed her concern.

    ‘Mother, stop being afraid, nothing bad will happen to me. The only thing that will happen to me is something good. Please cheer up..’, she further assured her.

    ‘Are you sure that you will be fine?’.

    ‘I am very much sure. All I need from you is nothing but your prayers,’ Miracle said.

    The water of silent battered the scene. As Martha buried her head in thought. Miracle was watching in silent.

    Moments later, Martha broke the silence:
    ‘My daughter,’ she paused. Heaved a long sigh. ’If Lagos is the place God destined you to go study, then let the will of God be done,’ she paused. ‘The good Lord shall be with you. No evil fashioned against you shall ever prosper. My daughter, In any battle you shall find yourself in Lagos, you shall come out of the battle victoriously, not a victim. In fact, the land of Lagos shall favor you; you shall find favor from east, west, south and north parts of Lagos. In all, the purpose of you going to Lagos, you shall achieve it in a hundred folds…’ Martha made some declaration upon her daughter after finally accepting to allow her to go to Lagos for her studies.

    Even after giving her daughter, Miracle, her blessings, Martha was still very skeptical about the whole thing. To the extent she had to visit her friend, Mary, to hear her opinion again.

    ‘My dear friend, Martha, I have told you time without numbers to allow your daughter to follow her dream path. I have prayed and fasted about her matter and God has not revealed anything bad on her educational journey to Lagos. So worry not because if there’s any impending danger that’s awaiting her in Lagos, I will definitely have the revelation,’ she said.

    ‘I am just worried about the whole thing. I am afraid that something bad might happen to her. Let my fate repeat not it ugly self upon her..’

    ‘Miracle’s path is a very successful one. I see no evil on her path. Her path is very clear. Your paranoid feeling upon her is nothing but an optical illusion,’ she paused. ‘Go home and pray for her. Declare positive words upon her. And worry not yourself..’

    Mary was admonishing Martha that very day.

    Miracle had gone to school.

    And life in school was not really an easy one for Miracle. But as God may have it, she was copying gradually.

    Miracle was living a comfortable life in school. She lived in a room and parlor. Free accommodation for that matter. Aunty Ifeoma allocated the accommodation for her. As the building belonged to one of her stepsons living abroad. The building was very close to school.

    Meanwhile, Aunty Ifeoma had become a frequent visitor to Nigeria. She visits Nigeria almost every year or atmost, every two years.

    And anytime Aunty Ifeoma visited Nigeria, she must pay a visit to Martha. In fact, she always spent more time in Kaduna than she does in Lagos.

    Aunty Ifeoma has been at home for the past one month now. She came for the burial of one of her relatives who lost her life in Canada.

    After the burial, Aunty Ifeoma spent a week in Lagos to visit one or two places before leaving Lagos for Kaduna to rest.

    Aunty Ifeoma had spent more than a week in Kaduna and was planning to even spend more weeks. She was really enjoying life in kaduna.

    It was a sunny Sunday. Aunty Ifeoma and Martha were having a relaxing time under the shade of a tree. The tree was situated in Martha’s compound. They were enjoying a fresh and chilled fruit juice while engaging in discussion.

    ‘…Martha Nwa m, I am really enjoying the land of kaduna. One of the sweet things I love so much about this beautiful land is that the city is a real value for money as you don’t have to break a neck to have a decent life.

    The prices of foodstuffs and fruits are very cheap compared to other states, especially Lagos. And fruits here are as fresh as early morning mangoes.

    What of the transportation system? Fantastic! Whether it is to the train station or airport, movement in Kaduna is quite cheap compared to other major cities in the country..’, Aunty Ifeoma was remarking before she was interrupted.

    ‘Mama,’ Martha interrupted. ‘You know you have not been to Jos. When you get to Jos, then you will see fruits and their freshness.

    Secondly, the only major city which can give Kaduna a run for its money in terms of transportation is Kano..’

    ‘My daughter, I have heard you. They say seeing is believing. So since I have not been to Jos or Kano, let me testify upon the ones I have seen with my two naked eyes here in Kaduna. Look, as far as I am concerned, Kaduna is the best so far,’ she paused before continuing:

    ‘When it comes to tourist attraction centers, Kaduna has the best.

    Talk of the Kamuku National park: it’s one of the best in the country. The National park is covered with guinea savanna vegetation and blessed with a wildlife population.

    Another tourist center to talk about is the Matsirga Waterfalls. A place where the clear water cascades down a height of about 30 meters. A wonder of nature to behold.

    Then talk of Kajuru castle that’s located in the south-east of Kaduna which is known for its European style castle that is built on a rock.

    Then the breathtaking one of them all is the Kagor Hill. One wonder of this hill is that it’s above sea level and very peaceful.

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE SEVENTY SIX:

    Sadly, Steve actually took his life himself.
    He took a pôisinous substance to perfect the taboo.

    The container of the sniper was there on the ground as evidence. Even some of the white substance was littered on the ground.

    People cried their eyes out.

    Martha’s mother-in-law was rushed to the hospital. She had slumped earlier.

    Martha cried bitterly as if she wanted to kîll herself. Thank goodness sympathizers were around to console her.

    Mr. Pere, Steven’s father, had involved the police.

    The police arrived at the scene. They took photographs of the scene, collected all the evidence and took the body away for autopsy.

    Meanwhile, Steve’s parents were accusing Martha of kîlling her husband.

    However, Martha was arrested and detained pending the outcome of the police investigations.

    But after the investigations, Martha was found not guilty. So she was released.

    Steve’s body was released for burial.

    And he was given a befitting burial.

    Meanwhile, Martha didn’t attend her husband’s burial ceremony. She was forbidden to attend the burial. The youths even threatened to kîll her if she dared show up at the burial ceremony which took place in his father’s hometown.

    Weeks later, Martha was thrown out of her husband’s house. Her husband’s people came and threw her things out like an outcast.

    Although Martha had the capacity to fight them tooth and nail, she decided to let the sleeping dog be. After all, what’s that she would be fighting for that she didn’t have? Nothing! Her business was doing perfectly well. Was it a house? She had her personal house. So she packed her things and peacefully moved back to her house for peace to rain.

    Martha was: broken. Shattered. But her friend Mary was there for her. She kept encouraging her not to question God. That God knows the best. Because she was already questioning God on why He allowed her to be going through hèll all her life.

    Martha had started noticing a severe back ache. She always feels weak and dizzy and food always loses taste in her mouth. The worst part of it all was that Martha could no longer enter the kitchen because the smell of food always made her dizzy.

    Martha started experiencing these signs for the past two weeks now.

    The last thing Martha could think of was being pregnant. Because she had already accepted her fate of dying of barrenness.

    Besides, she had never missed her menstruation.

    So Martha treated malaria and typhoid based on self-medication.

    But the symptoms continued.

    This time around, she finally decided to visit a doctor to know what was wrong with her.

    Guess what!

    Martha was actually pregnant. She was almost three months gone.

    How come Martha was pregnant? Almost three months pregnant. How did it happen? Because even when her late husband, Steve, was alive, they lived like cats and rats in the house. So who was responsible?

                ~~~FLASHBACK~~~
    Martha glanced at the wall clock and it was almost 1:00AM.
    She nodded her head and concentrated on her marijunà she was taking. She had a bottle of gin on the table.
    Ever since Steve had stopped talking to Martha, she had found comfort again in smoke and drink. The dua had become her companion in that lonely and empty house. In fact, Martha had almost emptied her husband’s bar.
    Martha wasn’t expecting her husband home that day. Because he hardly comes home these days.
    Amid her smoking and drinking party, she heard a knock on the door.
    Fearlessly, she went and opened the door even without asking herself who that could be.
    It happened to be Steve, her husband. And he came home very drunk at that ungodly hour.
    ‘How dare you keep me waiting in my house?,’ Steve asked, staggering.
    ‘You should be grateful that I opened the door for you. After all, you had your own keys into the house. Or are mine the one opening the door for you all these years,’ Martha queried back, very drunk too.
    ‘How dare you smoke and drink in my house?,’ Steve had to ask. Because, despite his drunknes, he still noticed how smoke clouded every nook and cranny of his sitting room.
    ‘What moral justification do you have to question me on that? Or have you ever seen a pot calling the kettle black?,’ Martha replied and headed towards her room.
    ‘So you have grown too much wing to walk out on me, ehn?,’ Steve asked.
    ‘Come and beat me na,’ Martha said while heading to her room.
    ‘Okay. Tonight, you will tell me whether you are the man of the house or I am the man of the house…’, Steve was saying while following her, seriously staggering.
    Steve followed her wife to their room. That same room he had abandoned for the past two months now.
    One thing led to another, they ended up fighting. Though not the physical fight;
    But a sèxuàl fight.
    It was a memorable sèx that the two drunken lovers-in-enmity had that night.
    But their accidental sèxuàl rumble could not bring them together. As their enmity continued still until Steve took his life.
          ~~~BACK TO REALITY ~~

    No doubt, that accidental sèx encounter was what led to the pregnancy. Martha thought as much because ever since she got married to her late husband, no man has ever seen her nàkèdness except Steve.

    ‘God why did you do this to me? Why did it take you so long to bless me with the fruit of the womb? Why did you allow me to go through all this hèll before finally remembering me? My husband is no more. He ended it himself. Then who will be the father of this child? Tell me, what is the essence of this pregnancy? ..’, Martha was crying amid sober reflection. It was midnight. She had the picture of Steve with her.

    Martha was neither happy nor sad. She was of the wish that her late husband didn’t take his life. She wished he was alive to see today and the joy that had cometh. She wished he was alive today to see that she was not barren.

    ‘To be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and Peace.

    Desperation is destruction. Patient is life. Everyone needs to be patient in life. Being patient is a virtue. Whenever a man runs faster than he shadow; he is poised to run astray. And if care is not taken, he runs into destruction. Because whosoever that walks before his godly guardian does the race of his life. And he’s at a high risk of perishment.

    Martha my friend, it’s unfortunate that it has to be this way. But God knows the best. And In whatever situation we find ourselves, we have to give God the glory.

    Please be very happy for yourself. And be grateful to God. Look, I am very happy that at last, you have shamed those who thought you would never carry a baby in your womb…’

    Mary was admonishing Martha one fateful day she cried to her, questioning God on why it has to be now her husband was no more.

    Mary’s admonishment kept ringing like a bell in Martha’s head especially whenever that thought of questioning God surged up in her head.

    When the news of Martha’s pregnancy got to her mother-in-law, she debunked it. And tagged the pregnancy as fake.

    ‘That lady is a witch. She has eaten up all the babies in her womb. Probably, she has faked a pregnancy so as to come for my son’s properties. But whatever antics she is preparing to come up with, we are ready to fight her tooth and nail..’, Martha’s mother-in-law said.

    The pregnancy journey was not an easy one for Martha. She was going through hell. The baby was really punishing her so much.

    At a point, Martha began to wonder whether the pregnancy was a curse to her. She even feared that her late husband had reincarnated so as to punish her.

    Of the truth, the pregnancy was not really fair to her. Martha was disfigured so much that her beauty had vanished in thin air. She became fat, out of proportion. Her formerly looking sweet face had swollen up as if the bees waged a war against her. Her legs swollen so much to the extent she hardly walked.

    The pregnancy made Martha lose the taste of food. She had turned into a saddest overnight as the spirit of mood swings tormented her mercilessly.

    Martha became a toy in the hands of sickness. To the extent that her doctor had to assign her special female healthcare to be taking good care of her health at home.

    In fact, Martha was a shadow of her former self.

    Thank goodness for Mary who was always there for Martha. Mary supported Martha in all ramifications of life, especially spiritually.

    Meanwhile, Martha had not lost contact with her well-wishers. No! She was still in contact with all of them, especially Aunty Ifeoma and Mba’s family. They all stuck with her both in good and bad and supported her in the little way they could.

    These people, especially Mary, were the reason Martha was still alive. If not for them, Martha would have long taken her life even before her husband.

They were all there for her especially during the rough time in her life.

       ~~NINE MONTHS LATER~~

    Martha had hit 40 weeks but didn’t deliver the baby. She had even gone beyond her due date.

    It was very common for pregnant women to go beyond their due date. So there was no cause for alarm In Martha’s case. After all, the doctor had assured them that at the latest, 41 weeks, Martha would deliver.

    In a short time, Martha hit the mark of 41 weeks and still was unable to put to bed.

    It was a very big problem. As everyone had started being anxious, especially Martha who was very much uncomfortable.

    At this point, the battle was of the spirituality because Martha’s case was already beyond the doctor. As many doctors had tried many ways to bring on Martha’s labour all to no avail.

    MIRACLE!They met Steve lifeless on the ground.

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE SEVENTY FOUR:

    Upon hearing that, Martha bursted into more tears. She was so much pained down to the bone marrow. She never expected Steve to use such a word on her. He can accuse her of anything but not cheating.

    ‘Look, you can accuse me of anything but not infidelity. Yes, I have my ugly past. But I have never for one day cheated on you,’ she paused, cleaning her tears amid cry. ‘How can you say that I used my body to lobby the test results in my favor? Please, for the sake of clarity, let’s retake the test again. This time around, at any hospital of your choice. I would even prefer a hospital with a female doctor so that you wouldn’t accuse me of using my body to manipulate the results in my favor again..’

    ‘Look, it’s very obvious that you are the reason for our three years of childlessness. Your past is what’s up against you now. The innocent bloods you shedded are what is hunting you. But It’s unfortunate that I found my innocent self in this mess all in the name of marriage,’ he paused amid tears, shaking his head in regret. ’Marrying you is the worst mistake of my life. I regret the day I met you. And I cursed that day. Martha, it will never be well with you for deceiving and luring me into a barren marriage..’

    Martha, still kneeling on the ground before Steve, continued pleading for forgiveness in the pool of her tears: ‘I am sorry, this is my past that I am not proud of. I am very sorry. Please find a place in your heart to forgive me. Look, I am not barren. I will definitely bear a child for you on the right. Let’s be patient and continue hoping in God. As God’s time is the best..’

    Martha pleading for forgiveness fell on a deaf ear. In fact, the more she pleaded, the more angry Steve became. Steve was very heartbroken. And as such, he said so many unbearable things to Martha.

    Ever since then, Steve has stopped talking to his wife, Martha. He doesn’t sleep in the same room with her again. As he has made his guest room his personal room. He doesn’t even answer Martha’s greetings anymore. He doesn’t eat her food anymore. In fact, he hardly sleeps at home these days.

    Martha was living in hell. She was dying in silence, likewise Steve.

    Meanwhile, Steve had involved his parents in the issue. He openly told them to Martha’s face that if anything happened to him, that they should hold Martha responsible. That any day he dropped dead, they should hold Martha responsible for his death.

    Steve’s parents had waged war against Martha. In fact, they made Martha’s marriage a living hell. Martha had faced much disgrace in the hands of her mother-In-law who had accused her of witchcraft and had eaten up the children in her womb. In fact, there was no type of disgrace that Martha didn’t receive from her. To the extent that this old woman does visit Martha’s place of business just to melt insults and disgrace upon her.

      ON A FATEFUL MONDAY MORNING

    Martha woke up that morning very weak and tired. For the past two days now, she has been having terrible nightmares. In her dreams, she was only seeing dead people, crying and waving at her.

    Martha woke up that morning with a restless mind. She was so worried and troubled. She smelled abnormalities around the house. But what could that be? Martha doesn’t know.

    Meanwhile, for the past two days, Martha hasn’t set her eyes on her husband. That morning, her husband’s image kept appearing to her. To the extent Martha had to go check up on him but she met his room locked. She knocked aggressively so as to know whether he was inside or not but no one responded to her several knocks.

    Martha pushed her tired legs back to the kitchen where she was making breakfast. Thinking that he could either be inside or he slept away from home.

    Martha couldn’t eat her breakfast. As she sat on the dining table staring at the food. She had lost appetite for the food.

    ‘What could be the problem? Something is wrong but I can’t figure out exactly what the problem is,’ Martha was lost in thought. ‘Why is he appearing to me? Why am I seeing dead people in my dreams? I have not seen him for the past two days now. I hope nothing bad has happened to him..,’ Martha was actually asking herself all these questions.

    ‘Stop worrying about who’s not worrying about you. Stop starving yourself over who doesn’t care about..’, a voice echoed.

    Martha heaved a long hiss. ‘Imagine, why are mine even bothering myself? Thinking about somebody who could be enjoying himself with his baby mama in a hotel now…’, Martha concluded and started forcing herself to eat but she still was unable to eat.

    Yes, for the past one month now, ever since Steve had found out the truth, he has totally turned himself into another thing.

    Steve was terribly broken. His heart was shattered into pieces.

    At first, he started keeping late nights. Then he graduated from drinking to being a drunkard. Before finally turning into a womanizer. To the extent of bringing women home.

    ‘Where is that witch? Where have you kept my son? Have you kîlled and buried him? Because I haven’t seen my son for the past three days now. I have been calling his number but he’s not picking…’, Martha’s mother-in-law’s voice echoed from afar.

    Immediately, Martha peeped through the window, Lo and behold, it was her shouting like a màd woman walking into the house rascally.

    Just then, she began to hit the door as if she wanted to pull it down.

    Martha went and opened the door for her. ‘Mama, good morning,’ she greeted her in fulfillment of all righteousness because he has not been answering her greetings too.

    ‘Witch, hold your greeting. I have warned you time without numbers to stop greeting me. I hate you and every step you march on the ground. Tell me, what’s good about this morning that you are greeting me good morning? Where is my son?,’ she asked.

    ‘Mama, I don’t know,’ Martha replied.

    The old woman didn’t reply to her as she made way to his son’s room.

    On getting there, she began to knock on the door. As if that wasn’t enough, she started calling his name. But he didn’t answer.

    Moments later, she dipped hand into her handbag and brought her phone out. Then dialed her son’s phone number. The phone was ringing. She overheard it ringing from inside of his room. But he was not picking.

    The old woman then started shouting. Martha came and saw things for herself as well. Martha began to cry, praying in her mind it shouldn’t be what she was thinking.

    They did their best to force the door open but all their efforts proved abortive.

    They started shouting on top of their voices for help and In a twinkling of an eye, neighbors had gathered.

    At the end, the door was finally opened.

    Lo and behold, they met the shock of their eyes.

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE SEVENTY THREE:

    PREVIOUSLY ON A DAUGHTER’S REVENGE:

    …’Our marriage is going to clock two good years anytime soon. I am married to an only child. The pressure is much on us. My mother-in-law is becoming a nightmare to me. In fact, the pressure is much on my husband to get a second wife. My husband is confused. As a matter of fact, he is dying gradually. He doesn’t sleep because of this problem,’ she paused. ‘At times, I feel like I am the problem. I feel like..true..true..my womb is still not okay. That’s why I have not conceived. I feel guilty. I feel like confessing to him so as to free myself from the torment of a guilty conscience..’, Martha poured out her heart.

    ‘God forbid, your womb is sound and okay. And you shall conceive…’

    ‘When is that…’, Martha intercepted.

    ‘You shall conceive when it’s God’s time..’

    ‘Then why is God’s time delaying this much?’, Martha interrupted again with a question.

    ‘Like I said before, God’s time is the best. You and your husband have to be patient and wait for God’s time,’ she paused. ‘Martha, I smell doom. I smell sorrow. And I have prayed about the impending doom and sorrow but God asked me to warn you and your husband to be patient and wait for His time; not to be faster than your shadows. Because he who goes before his God will be tired of running..,’ Mary warned.

            THE CONTINUATION :

    Three good years of marriage..

    Still, Steve and Martha’s marital tree remained barren.

    No child.

    No pregnancy.

    Not even a mîscàrriage.

    Steve seemed the most worried person in the marriage.

    He was growing tired of the whole thing.

    So when he could no longer wait for God’s time, he started looking for a solution by all means. To the extent he started visiting native doctors seeking a solution to his childlessness.

    Steve had spent a huge amount of money on the quest. Yet, no solution has been found so far. As they had swindled him out of thousands of hundreds.

    Steve never gave up. He kept traveling from one native doctor to another in different villages. He had a friend who was leading him.

    Until he came in contact with this particular native doctor. A very old blind man.

    That day, Immediately they walked into the native doctor’s shrine, revelations started.

    ‘I know why you are here. You have been married for three years now and have no child of your own. You are here for a solution..,’ the native doctor revealed.

    ‘How did you know all these?’, Steve asked in surprise.

    ‘I am both human and spirit. Even before you speak, I already know what you have in mind. I am a great seer..’, the native doctor added.

    ‘You are very much right. I am here for a solution. Just like you said, I have been married for the past three years now and I have nothing to show. Please help me, great seer..’, Steve pleaded.

    ‘You need no help because you have help already in your palm. Patient is the key. But go home and talk with your wife. She had the darkest secret. Go home!,’ the native said.

    ‘W-w-what secret are you..’, Steve was stammering.

    ‘Patient is a virtue.
    Go home!
    Go home!!
    Go home!!

    The native doctor thundered, interrupting him.

    Already, Steve had gotten a let’s go signal from his friend. They immediately stood to their feets in unison and left.

    Indeed Steve had questions begging for answers in his mind. He had many questions to ask the native doctor if he was permitted. But the old man could not permit him.

    ‘My wife had the darkest secret? What could that be? Could it be the reasons behind our childlessness?..’, Steve was asking himself while driving home.

    Steve got home and met his wife at home. He came home very angry because how could a woman called his wife keep a darkest secret from him. ‘So she could be the reason for our childlessness if care is not taken?..’ Steve asked himself.

    ‘Honey, welcome. Good evening..’, Martha greeted him. She was sitting on the couch inside the sitting room, glaring through a file when her husband walked in.

    ‘What is good about this evening, ehn?..’, Steve asked in anger.

    Steve had a long face. Martha didn’t take notice at the initial time. It was when his voice thundered with such a negative reply that she could take notice of her husband’s countenance.

    ‘Ahh, honey I hope all is well?..’

    ‘All is not well. And all can never be well in this house if you didn’t tell me the truth,’ Steve’s voice thundered again. This time, it was more intense and violent.

    Martha surged up, walking towards her husband. ‘Truth about what?,’ Martha asked, very confused.

    ‘Don’t get close to me,’ Steve warned with every seriousness.

    ‘I don’t understand you. Truth about what? I hope this is not a prank?,’ Martha had to ask In more confused manner. As she stood motionless, looking deep into Steve’s face for clearities.

    ‘Truth about your past and the darkest secret you have been hiding from me,’ Steve yelled, vibrating In anger. His eyes had turned red amid anger. His temper had flared up.

    Martha was shocked. Dumbfounded. Already, it has dawned on her that her husband had found out her darkest secret. But how did he find out? Who could have told him? This and many more questions raced against each other in Martha’s head.

    ‘Oh, you have gone dump, right? Surely, you should have known that nothing will forever remain a secret in this life. That one day, the wind will blow and the anus of a chicken will be exposed. Today is reckoning day. Speak, I am listening..,’ Steve’s voice thundered.

    ‘I-I-I don’t know what you are talking about. I have no darkest secret,’ Martha resorted to lies.

    The lie got Steve more provoked. As his anger flared up. He became màd especially when it was crystal clear that his wife was truly hiding a terrible secret from him and was still lying to his face. His eyes changed into red, vomiting fire.

    Immediately, Steve rushed Martha in anger, gripped her neck and jerked her up against the wall.

    Martha was chocked. Her breath seized. As she was in severe pain.

    ‘What do you take me for? A fôôl or what?..’, Steve yelled while still grasping her.

    ‘I am sorry. Please, I will tell you the truth. Please leave me. I will tell you everything..’, Martha managed to plead.

    ‘Oya, be talking. I am listening,’ Steve said after releasing her.

    For the past three years of their marriage, Martha has never seen her husband this angry. In fact, that day happened to be the first time Steve was laying his hand on her.

    Panting like one chased by a masquerade, Martha began talking: ‘I am sorry for keeping a dirty secret from you. I am sorry for lying to you. In fact, I am sorry for everything,’ she paused. ‘I have been open to you when it comes to my past. And I have told you about my past relationship with KC which ended in a heartbreak. But there’s still one thing I haven’t told you. That’s my dirty secret..’

    ‘That one thing is what I want to hear. Tell me the dirty secret,’ Steve’s angry voice interrupted.

    ‘Hey, I-I-I..’, Martha was stammering. As it was heavy in her mouth to speak out.

    ‘Oh, you have suddenly become stammerer, ehn? Stop trying my patience. Speak up,’ Steve’s voice thundered.

    ‘KC got me pregnant and insisted on abôrtîôn. So we had to abôrt the baby. As a matter of fact, I have had three abôrtîôns and a miscàrriage for him. And the abôrtîôns came with many severe complications. Consequently, my womb was said to have been damaged. But…’

    ‘Whaaat! So your womb is damaged? I mean you cannot bear a child?,’ Steve asked in shock. Before you could know it, tears had already started streaming down his cheek.

    ‘Yes, that was what the doctor said before. But the contrary is the case now. My womb is very much okay now. Don’t worry, I will give birth to you a child. I will conceive. I will give birth. It’s just a matter of time. Please be patient with me..,’ Martha was pleading in tears.

    ‘I should be patient with you, ehn? You are nothing but a disgrace to womanhood. Three abörtions, Martha! Three abôrtîôn! You are telling me to be patient whereas you have no womb. How will the miracle happen?..’

    ‘But I am medically sound to bear a child. You can see it from the test results we had..’

    ‘Tell me, how can you be sound after three abôrtîôns? Impossible! Your womb had been damaged. So where will the child come from? From heaven? A miracle will happen or what?,’ he paused, shaking his head in regret. ‘God what have I gotten myself into all In the name of marriage? Martha, where did I offend you? How could you do this to me? How could you have accepted my marriage whereas you have no womb…’

    ‘I have a womb. My womb is not damaged. I am fertile enough to bear a child for you. Please give me a little time. I will bear a child for you. You can see that nothing is wrong with me. The results of our tests have said it all..’

    ‘How are mine even sure that those results are not fake? Who knows if you have used your body to have those results in your favor..’

    🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE SEVENTY TWO:

    Are you ready to give your life to Christ?,’ Mary asked Martha. These conversations were going on via the phone. Martha was still in Lagos then.

    ‘Yes, I am ready,’ Martha replied, honestly.

    ‘Good. Oya, close your eyes let’s pray..’ Mary prayed with Martha. In the end, she still fed her with the words of God:

    ‘My dear, there are things I would like to educate you about peace in Christ. Sometimes we have to wait for peace—but “don’t you quit. Trust God and believe in good things to come. Peace can come even in the midst of trials. Peace can be found in any circumstance. Peace comes through living the gospel and obeying the commandments. As sincere repentance brings peace. The very beauty of the word repentance is the promise of escaping old problems and old habits and old sorrows and old sins. It is among the most hopeful and encouraging—and yes, most peaceful—words in the gospel vocabulary. Peace comes from serving and being a peacemaker for others. Peace comes as we seek to be better disciples of Jesus Christ. “The kind of peace that is the … reward of righteousness … is a promised gift of the Savior’s mission and atoning sacrifice…’

    That was how Martha gave her life to Christ.

    Meanwhile, at a point in Martha’s life in Lagos, she had a revelation via the dream to leave Lagos with immediate effect. She was warned never to tell any of her close friends and relatives because if she did so, she would be discouraged from doing so.

    The only person Martha told about the revelation was Mary. And Mary encouraged her to come to Kaduna.

    That was the major reason behind Martha’s relocation from Lagos to Kaduna.

    Steve had proposed marriage to Martha and she said yes to the proposal.

    Even at that, Martha still did not fully believe that Steve was serious about her. As she thought that Steve was doing so just to lure her in bed. Because Martha had refused Steve sèx. As their relationship was purely based on the principle of sèx after marriage.

    Steve took Martha by surprise. A month after their engagement, Steve paid Martha’s bride price and immediately wedded her in church.

    Meanwhile, Martha’s uncle was not alive again to give her out in marriage. He was said to have died mysteriously a decade ago. It was another of her relatives that gave her out in marriage.

    Even when Martha found herself in Dubai on a honeymoon, she still did not believe that she was finally married to a man. She shedded tears; this time, not tears of sorrow but tears of joy.

              ~~ONE YEAR LATER~~

    Martha’s marriage was a year and no sign of pregnancy. Martha was not just very worried but she was also guilty.

    Martha never told Steve about her secret. I mean her womb damage as a result of her wayward lifestyle in the past.

    But Mary was aware of it. Martha told Mary about the numbers of abôrtîôn she had for KC and how the complications damaged her womb.

    Mary prayed and fasted about the issue with Martha. After the seven days of praying and fasting, Mary had a revelation about Martha’s condition. Martha was not barren in the spiritual realm. She would be fruitful. That was the revelation.

    When Martha perceived the seriousness in Steve, she wanted to confess to him about her medical condition, but Mary discouraged her not to scare Steve away.

    So she buried her womb impairment in secrecy while believing in God for a fruit of the womb.

    On a fateful day, Martha accosted Mary about the issue again.

    ‘…my marriage is going to be two years now and yet no sign of pregnancy. I am just confused. The whole thing is not clear to me. The whole thing is very complicated,’ Martha heaved a heavy breath amid confusion. ‘All the tests we have conducted showed that my husband and I are medically fit to bear a child. None of the tests had dictated my medical impairment. That means my damaged womb has been restored back to normality. But the confusion here is that how then haven’t I conceived? Why hasn’t God finished the good work He has started in my life? Or had God abandoned me?..’

    ‘Enough, Martha! We cannot question God. God does His things His own way. He works in a mysterious way. God’s plan cannot converge with that of a man,’ she paused. ‘I have never rested In your case. I always pray and fast about it. And I kept getting the same revelation over and over again. Martha, you are not barren. You are fruitful. And your marital tree shall bear fruit. So do not be faster than your shadow. Keep believing in God. As God’s time is the best,’ she said.

    ‘Our marriage is going to clock two good years anytime soon. I am married to an only child. The pressure is much on us. My mother-in-law is becoming a nightmare to me. In fact, the pressure is much on my husband to get a second wife. My husband is confused. As a matter of fact, he is dying gradually.
