Torn between confusion and anger pumping madly in his heart, Dominic kept on listening to the threatening aura of the caller who is has no absolute idea on who it was. He was deeply disturbed and intransitively locked on the fear of not losing his wife.
Dominic got home that night, and as he went straight up to his room, his gaze landed on a Sarah who squilted her self on the floor and her head buried inbetween her leg, sobbing profusely. He sighed wryly as he walked to her and squatted down to her level.
Her sadness was filling the atmosphere, already making Dominic feel the same way she was feeling but he had to be strong.
“Sarah?” his soft and gently voice called her name and she raised her gaze to his face. She was sobbing uncontrollably like she lost someone. Her face went pale and her eyes were pure red from the stress of crying too much and on seeing thoss things, Dominic grew more sad.
“Why are you doing this to yourself and i?” And Sarah sniffled alittle, trying to suppress the content from escaping her eyes. Dominic stared deeply into those eyes of hers, seeing amd feeling all the pains she felt.
”You can’t keep crying your life out” he said further, her eyes were fixed on his. “I need you on this. I need your strength. I need every single support i can get from you” He said, his eyes glassy and she sniffled.
“It’s of no use, Dominic” Sarah pressed. Her voice unsteady and breaking.
“It is” Dominic opposed her and she gazes elsewhere. He flashed back in an instant, about the call he recieved earlier.
“We will be coming for all of you” This statement kept on ringing in his head. What could this unknown entity want. And the sound of ‘We’ means they are more than one.
“I’m beginning to be alergic to this world. Isn’t it better off we just submit ourself than just running and at the end we die” Sarah broke out to him. Her hope was lost.
“I can’t do this anymore,Dominic. I can’t keep running, i’m so tired” Rose added, a silent tears rolled down her paled cheek.
“I know, we have to keep going. We can’t give up now. We’ve gone too far” Dominic replied.
“What are we even looking for? We’ve lost so much. I’ve lost everything” Sarah said, hee voice breaking.
“You haven’t lost me. As long as i’m still here. There’s still hope” Dominic assured,looking sternly at her.
“But for how long? I don’t know how more i can take. And i don’t know what kind of life ia this, always looking over our shoulder, never knowing if this is the day we’re finally caught. I can’t keep living like this!”
Dominic has never seen her speak this way and seeing her expressing of all hope been lost, he began to question himself. Was he the reason, she’s going through all this?
Sarah has never been this hopeless before, the fact that she has to pretend to be dead to the whole world was the hurtful part of it all. Like she was carrying an overweighed burden on her shoulders, one that the world must not know about. Whats the essence of been alive if she can’t move out freely.
Dominic embraced her in his huge arms, hugging her so tight, like he was never going to get a chance of doing it again.
Sarah broke the hug, glaring into his eyes. She had something to say but doesn’t know if he was ready to listen or not.
“Tell me what it is you want to say” Dominic said. He knew she wanted to say something and with his approval, she parted to speak.
“We …” She hesitated.
“We should leave the country” She was finally able to speak out to him but he stared at her speechlessly.
“Dominic, i know it may sound awkward but leavinh the country is the best option” Sarah assured and he just kept mute.
She shook her head and grinned waiting to get a reply rather than him just staring speechlessly at him. “Dominic?” She called and he snapped out from whatever he was thinking.
“Were you even listening?” She asked, confused and he shrugged.
“I was” He muttered and before she could say her next word, he placed his lips on hers, gently pressed, withdrew and pressed again. Her unsteady breath siezed at that moment and she reciprocated. The kiss grew deeper with seconds and they were already as far as falling on the rug, kissing and fumbling for buttons and zippers.
Dominic slowly broke the kiss, their head leaning depreasoningly onto each others’, there breath relaxed and their eyes glared deeply into each others’ as a sudden silent fell over them.
Can we forget the fact that we are going to die only for tonight?” Sarah asjed, her breath calm and her voice low.
“Well, we aren’t dying, atleast not anytime soon” He replied and the both chuckled softly. Their eyes gazed at their lips and slowly it collided again. He carried her in his arms and slowly placed her ontop his bed and joined her afterwards after pulling off his suit.
