Farida was already totally unclad before Joe returned to the room, and she was doing some cràzy moves on the bed, twèrking like a baddiē while Joe watched in amazement, at how easily, she controlled her body.

She had been yelling at him, asking him to stop and allow her talk to him, but he just walked on as if she wasn’t speaking to him.
Farida was standing by the window and was listening in to everything they said. She had a frown on her face as she saw Joe’s expression that suggested he could be thinking of doing what his mother had just told him.
“What if that wïtch is truly pregnant and this evïl woman makes him find out the truth and compel him to bring her back?” Farida thought and rushed out of the house.
“You’re going to be late honey. Isn’t it time you left? What’s even going on? Since when did mama become an advocate for the woman she asked you to send away?
“Wasn’t mama the one who brought Martha here to outplace the very one she’s fighting to return to you now?
“Can’t you see she’s just interested in seeing you in a mess with her decision to keep you trapped between different women?
“At first, she made you believe that the reason she fought Nkem was because she refused to get pregnant.
“Now, I am pregnant and she’s doing everything to ensure Nkem returns to create more troubles in this house, and possibly make me lose my baby” Farida said, forcing tears to her eyes.
“You know mama, I’m beginning to agree with Farida my wife. Not only does she make me very happy and alive, she’s pregnant and wants nothing but to ensure my baby is delivered in safety and peace
“But you keep interfering with my life. Look at the hell the Martha you brought here created for Farida the other day.
“If I wasn’t close by, who knows what she could have done, and now that everywhere seems calm, you want to pull Nkem back by all means, just to make my house turn to a harem of women.
“I have a lot of respect and love for you mama, but if you trouble my pregnant wife again, I may have to send you out of my house forever” Joe said, looking at his mother without an atom of love or respect.
He drove out of the compound, leaving a distraught and totally shocked mama gazing after his car.
For two days, mama tried to speak to his son, but he wouldn’t have her talk with him, save the casual greetings in the morning, and at night when he returned from work.
Mama was living in great regrets, recalling that she had been the one troubling Nkem over their childlessness, and the thought of being the one responsible for Farida’s presence in her son’s house, made her cry some times when she felt Farida’s outright wickedness t her; starving her of food most times, and locking her up in her room only to claim it was a mistake.
On a particular day, Farida’s mother had come to their house with a young man, and mama had been too curious to know what they were talking about in hushed tones that she had to eavesdrop.
The young man was complaining about not getting the much he anticipated to get for a deal they had, but mama couldn’t understand much, since they were doing their best to talk in almost whispers.
She saw the young man try to kiss Farida, and noticed how she pulled back in ãnger, telling him how careless and disrespectful he was to imagine he could kiss a Mrs Joe.
Mandy was also looking at the dude with so much hatred and mama couldn’t understand why the guy was collecting a huge amount of money Farida was throwing at him in anger, if both Farida and her mother didn’t like the dude.
“Why did they allow him sit with them and even get so much money from them, if they didn’t like him?
“And why did the guy attempt to kiss Farida? I don’t see any resemblance between the two of them, so I can’t say they’re siblings.
“Who is that guy? And why is Farida giving him so much money?” mama thought as she walked towards them, intent on confronting them
Mandy got màd at the old woman, asking her to mind her business and stay off her affairs or she’d get it hot from her.
“You must be totally out of your mind to assume that I’m intruding on a matter that doesn’t concern me, when the child in your daughter is mine, and you’re in my son’s house with a stranger” mama said.
One thing led to another and Mandy hit mama hard across her face.
A fight ensued between them, and Farida who could have been in the position to tell her mother to stop the foòlery, teamed up with her mother to give mama a really hard beating, hitting her head as if to ensure that she forgot everything about herself before her son returned.
Some hours later, mama was lying unconscious on a hospital bed, and her son was looking so worried, circling her bed and crying to God to let his mother survive it.
He was told a ròbbers had invaded their house and carted away with all the money he left in his briefcase.
And because his mother had tried to fight the ròbbers, she was beaten terribly, and left for deàd.
