    Every relationship goes through challenges every now and then but the way we handle such challenges is what truly matters. Some couples come out stronger than before while the reverse is the case for other couples. In Ace and Belinda’s case, they had hit a major rock that could have crushed their marriage and make their differences irreconcilable but it’s quite commendable how they scaled through with little or no permanent damages. To top everything up, their marriage reconciliation was sealed and blessed with an additional bundle of joy. All Glory to God!

    The news of Belinda’s 4 weeks pregnancy was a mind blowing one for the couple whose marriage almost hit rock bottom. The fact that they had been trying for a long time to have another baby since the birth of their first seed ‘David’ but non was forth coming, almost made them drop dead due to the shock they felt at that moment. Ace was at the verge of going crazy, as the hormones in his body was about to explode; same with Belinda. It was such a day to remember!

    “Doctor please tell me you are joking, are you?” Belinda nervously inquired. The doctor smiled faintly and repeated himself for the second time; just in case they didn’t hear the news properly the first time. “I said you are 4 weeks pregnant, Congratulations!” he repeated. It was at this point that Ace fully digested the news and reacted with an overflow of joy in his heart. The excited young man jumped up numerously and kept chanting “Yes!”.

    On the other hands, Belinda held David tightly with a big smile on her pretty face. “Oh thank you Lord, thank you so much Lord. How much more awesome and beautiful can today get? Thank you so much Lord” The excited expectant mum quietly said as tears gently fell off her eyes. The scene was beautiful to behold and the doctor also shared in their happy moment.

    The remaining hours of that day was blissful all through. Immediately the couple got back home, Belinda picked up her phone and called her family to inform them that David had been reclaimed. Everyone was so happy for the couple and scre-med on top of their voices. They were extremely happy that the case had been resolved amicably between both mothers.

    Just as Belinda’s family members were rejoicing with her for David’s victory, she broke the good news of the new baby on the way. Everything was just too much for everyone to digest, as the good news kept dropping back-to-back. Belinda’s mum danced for joy all through that day and thanked God for all he had done.

    All through that night, tears of joy kept falling off Belinda’s eyes and that of Ace too. They were overly emotional due to the new things that were happening in their lives. It was a lot for them to take in at once, hence the reason they broke down in tears at any little chance they got.

    From that day henceforth, David slept with his parents in their room because Belinda wanted to utilise every given opportunity to bond with her son. She would cuddle him as though her life depended on it, while Ace would cuddle both of them. David went to everywhere with his mom and was home schooled for a while so she could be around him all the time.

    Ace played the role of a good father indeed and always brought Junior over to the house whenever it was his turn to have custody of Rita’s son. Due to that, Junior and David became almost inseparable because they spent quality time with each other. Belinda still loved Junior with all her heart as nothing changed at all. Junior’s old room was still intact for him whenever he came over to spend the night. Another room was furnished and given to David as his new room, but the little boy spent most of his nights in his parents room. Life was good and fulfilling for everyone.

    Days turned to weeks and weeks to month and Belinda’s delivery date drew nearer. This time around, Ace didn’t need to be told in order to cancel hospital delivery as an option for his wife. They contacted the hospital Belinda usually went for Antenatal Care and made a contract for a midwife and doctor to come over to their house and deliver the baby when the time is due. It cost Ace a lot of money to be able to pull such weight but he wasn’t moved because the couple didn’t want history to repeat itself again. It was now official that they were going to have a home delivery. What a relief from tension and fear of the unknown.

    One fateful evening, Belinda and Ace were cuddled up in bed. At that time, she was already eight months gone and her delivery date was getting closer. They laid in bed and reminisced on everything that had happened in the past and also the challenges they overcame as a couple. As they talked about deep things, they were interrupted by David when he opened the door.

    “Hey baby, come here and snuggle with mama and dada” Belinda happily said. David ran towards the bed and climb it. A space was created for the happy boy in-between his parents so he fixed himself in,side. “I love you baby” Belinda said with a smile on her face, “I love you too mummy” David replied.

    As mother and son had their moment, the atmosphere was ignited with love and happiness as they all enjoyed the moment. After a little while, Ace sat up and held Belinda’s hand; “Babe, I think we should say our vows again to reaffirm our love for each other” he said. Without wasting time, Belinda agreed and sat up too. “Who will go first?” she inquired and Ace took the lead.

    “Today, I might not be fully sure or aware of what tomorrow will bring, but one thing I’ll promise is to never put myself in the position of losing you again nor put you in a position of losing me. I promise to be faithful and to remain faithful to you alone. I promise to put you and our kids first before every other thing. I promise to have eyes for only you and everything that pertains to our family. I promise to never disappoint you ever again. I love you baby, thank you for giving me a second chance” Ace soberly said.

    Belinda was greatly touched by her husband’s vows. She held his hand tightly and said; “I love you so much babe, you are the only man I ever want to have eyes for. I’m so sorry for slapping you the other day at Rita’s house. I have been feeling guilty since I did that but never had the courage to apologise to you. I promise to never do it again, no matter the circ-mstance. I renew my trust for you this moment and promise to believe in your lordsh¡p over this house and union. I promise to respect, cherish and love you all the days of my life. So help me God!”

    After the vows exchange, they pecked each other on the cheek and landed the remaining k-sses on David’s face. It was such a memorable day for the couple as their love for each other was rekindled. What a priceless moment indeed!

    Finally, the highly anticipated day for Belinda’s delivery came and this time around, Ace and her mum was present to witness it all. Since the delivery was taking place in their house, they had the liberty to witness everything live without being asked to leave the room.

    The midwife and doctor was present that fateful evening to aid Belinda in the delivery. After few hours of labour and contractions, a bouncing baby girl finally made her way into the world.

    Oh My! You need to see how happy Ace was at that moment. He was so happy that he didn’t even know when tears started falling off his eyes. The baby cried her first cry and everyone smiled with joy in their hearts.

    In that beautiful moment, Ace moved closer to his tired wife, gave her a soft peck on her forehead and gently muttered; “Thank You God!”.

    One relieving thing about life is that everything happens for a reason and they are usually aimed for our good. No matter the situation one finds his or herself in, there’s always a tiny bit of God’s will in that situation; whether good or bad. It could be that God wanted to reunite Ace with his two sons and also strengthen his marriage union with Belinda. Things might have fallen out between the couple but one thing we can’t dispute is that the crisis also rekindled their stale and dying love for each other.

    Not to also forget, the crisis also brought two lovely brothers together and it was evident that they would eventually be in each other’s life once everything was settled between both parents. What a thing of joy indeed!

    On seeing the beautiful reaction from Junior and David, their mothers were shocked and confused at the same time; as they kept wondering where and how the little boys met each other to the extent that they even referred to themselves as ‘Friends’. It was a wh0le lot for everyone to digest at that moment and their innocent reaction melted everyone’s heart including Rita.

    “Junior where did you meet your friend? At school?” Belinda curiously inquired, “Yes mummy, I saw him in my school and we played together” the little boy happily said. Ace and Rita were short of words and didn’t know what to say at that moment. They preferred to watch the excited kids play with each other than interrupt them with questions.

    While the boys played, Belinda dropped a few tear drops as she watched her biological son clothed with rags and also looking a little malnourished. It broke her heart that she had missed out on David’s childhood but she felt happy that there was a lot of time in the future to make it up to her son and be there in his life.

    On the other hand, Rita was going through so much at that moment and couldn’t utter a word. She was lost in thoughts as she watched a little boy that resembled her 90%, playing happily. There were over a thousand thoughts on her mind and great fear gripped her at the thought of Ace taking her child away from her and leaving her with nothing. Rita needed no interpreter to tell her that Ace was loaded with money and also had the power to suppress, subdue and oppress her. The thought of David being taken away from the poor woman was a nightmare she wanted to wake up from as soon as possible. All she could do at that point is to keep her fingers crossed and hope for the best outcome from the situation she had unfortunately found herself in.

    Shortly after Ace arrived the station with his family, a senior police officer called them into his office so they could discuss the way forward. “Now we have found her, the first thing we need to do is to conduct a DNA Test for everyone; including the two boys. We need to fully ascertain the authenticity of your claims and also vindicate this issue once and for all. If the switch is true as calmed, we will find out after the DNA Test have been conducted. For the mean time, Rita will remain in our custody with David so she doesn’t take a hike again, and also, I feel the right thing to do is to leave her with David for now till everything is fully confirmed after the tests” the officer said.

    At this junction, Ace was OK with what the officer had said and quickly agreed to his verdict but Rita was lost and still hadn’t gotten a befitting explanation of what was going on. “Excuse me, if I may ask, why am I here? What is going on?” she confusingly inquired. It was at point that she was properly schooled on what happened 6 years back. The officer was the one that did the talking this time around and that was how come she was able to give a listening ear to him; unlike she did when Belinda and Ace tried to communicate with her some time ago before she eloped.

    Immediately the officer was done talking, Rita broke down in tears as she stared at Junior. “No way! You mean this is my son? No way! Please don’t play with me I beg you people. Until the test is conducted I choose not to believe any of this” she soberly said.

    As Rita shed tears, Belinda didn’t know when she joined her in crying. They sobbed in sync and kept wiping the tears from their eyes with their palms. Ace tried to be tough and collected his sons from both women. As he held them tightly, he felt an instant connection with both of them the moment he jointly held them to himself. It took the grace of God for him not to break down in tears as the women were already doing. It was such an emotional day for everyone, including the officer that was watching.

    After everything that day, Rita was lodged in a hotel by Ace but was still in the custody of the police. That night at the hotel was one of her coziest nights ever, as she wasn’t used to such level of comfort and sophisticated environment. Despite the fact that she was still worried about the outcome of the DNA Test, she tried to enjoy the comfort of the moment and not bother herself too much with the unknown.

    Back in Ace’s matrimonial home, Belinda was now happy and felt relieved because her biological son was one step closer to becoming hers forever. That day, Junior never stopped talking about his friend and it gladden their heart to hear the little excited boy talk about his dear friend who was actually his step-brother. Deep down, Ace was pleased to see such bond between his sons. It gave him the hope that they would get along very well as brothers once the DNA Test was finalised and every thing was confirmed. The happy couple kept their fingers crossed for the scheduled DNA Test.

    The new development would cost Ace a lot of money and expenses, but he was glad as he wired the money to the hospital’s account for the test.

    Immediately everything was finalised, Rita and David were sent to the hospital and the materials for the test was extracted from their body. Afterwards, they returned back to their hotel room and everyone kept their fingers crossed for the long anticipated Big Reveal.

    Since after that encounter at the police station, Rita hadn’t seen her supposed biological son again but kept dreaming and thinking about him. Deep down in her heart, she was convinced that Junior was her flesh and blood but was too scared to accept that reality. Whenever she looked at David, tears rolled uncontrollably from her eyes because he was her everything for the last 6 years of her life. The bond between Rita and David was too strong that it would take Forever to break them apart. It wasn’t going to be easy for both Belinda and Rita to let go of the kids they had been with for the past 6 years of their lives but the right thing had to be done at the end of the day.

    Finally, the Big Reveal day came and the hospital called both parties to be present before reading the results out. An officer went with them for witness sake and to also ensure that everything went smoothly.

    That morning, Belinda woke up with cold feet and she wasn’t feeling too strong either. She told Ace about it as they drove down to the hospital and he assured her that they would do a little check up at that hospital after they were done with what brought them there. On hearing that, she felt relieved.

    When everyone arrived at the hospital, they made their way to the doctor’s officer with their hearts beating very fast. They were scared as they took their seats to listen to what their ears had been itching to hear for over two weeks now. When everyone took their seats, the doctor smiled and broke the silence.

    “First thing first, I apologise on behalf of the health sector for putting you all through a thing as unfortunate as this. No one deserves to get their kids switched at birth due to carelessness by health officials, I apologise for everything. Now, let’s get straight to why we are all here. Rita, your result tested Negative for David but Positive for Junior, which means he is your biological son and not David. Belinda, you tested Positive for David after tested Negative for Junior, which means David is your biological son. Finally, Ace you tested Positive for both boys which means they are both your sons. I pray you all find a place in your hearts to accept this new reality. Another birth certificate will be issued for the kids with the appropriate details. Congratulations to your new found reality, we are glad this was detected early and not when these kids were all grown so it gives you another chance to start all over” The doctor said.

    After that shocking revelation, everyone was numb and couldn’t say anything. It was difficult for them to digest the new reality that was in front of them. The silence was intense till Ace broke it; “Rita, I am sorry for everything I put you through, I was naive and selfish then but I know better now. My wife and I don’t wish to take anything away from you and that’s why we have decided to release Junior to you because you are his biological mother. We have also decided to open for you any business of your choice so you can start life all over again. We have also made arrangements for a suitable accommodation for you close to where we live so that Junior and David can grow up together as sibling. Bear in mind that Davis is still your son, just as Junior is still my wife’s son too. We are going to be in Junior’s life like we never left, same with you and David. I hope you accept this new journey with a good heart as we work towards cohabiting together as a family” he gently said.

    At that point, there was nothing other than gratitude in Rita’s heart. She thanked the couple for having her at heart to such extent and also accepted everything Ace said with her wh0le heart. Belinda gave her a warm hug as tears fell off both their eyes.

    The little boys were given to their rightful mothers and the hug they received was next to non. Belinda hugged David as though her life depended on it; same with Rita. Both mothers cried their eyes out as they hugged their flesh and blood whom was lost but now found. It was such an emotional and good day at the hospital but things were only about to get better.

    After the reunion, Rita left with Junior back to the hotel, while Ace stayed back with his wife for the check-up he promised her due to her ill health. They did a fast check up so they could buy the needed medications and head back home. The test was ran on Belinda and after few hours, the result was out.

    When the couple were called to the doctor’s office again, the test was handed over to Belinda and she reluctantly opened the paper, with David sitting on her laps. Ace was stressed out and just wanted everything to be over with so he could go home and rest. If only he knew that his day was just about to get started!

    Immediately Belinda opened the paper, her attention was drawn to a particular section and her eyes opened widely as she looked to be sure her eyes saw correctly.

    Before Belinda could utter a word, the Doctor helped her to drop the bomb; “Congratulations Mrs, You are 4 weeks pregnant!”.

    Life doesn’t always go the way we plan or towards the direction we want and as humans, all we can do is hope and pray that things turns out the way we desire because we don’t have the Final Say. Belinda was already excited at the thought of reclaiming her lost son but that hope was instantly crushed and shattered in a twinkle of an eye. The heart break that came with the news of Rita’s disappearance was too much for the devastated woman to bear and it made her unconscious.

    Immediately Belinda collapsed, everyone forgot what they initially came to Rita’s compound for and rushed her to the hospital. Ace was scared to his stomach and kept shivering due to the tension he was feeling at that moment. The thought of something drastic happening to his wife almost gave the frustrated husband a heart attack. A day that supposed to be a good one for the couple, turned out to be a total disaster.

    To be fair, Rita wasn’t to be over blamed because the threaten woman did what any mother would have done if put in her shoes. Just imagine someone coming out of nowhere to claim ownersh¡p of your own child you have nurtured for 6 good years; don’t you think you might have reacted more than Rita did? Despite the fact that she was quite selfish and unreasonable by not giving Belinda and Ace a listening ear, she still did what any rational threatened mother would have done.
    When they arrived at the hospital, Belinda was quickly admitted and the doctor and nurses tried to revive her.

    Those hours she was unconscious were the most traumatising hours of Ace’s life. That moment was a time of sober reflection for the frustrated man, as he reminisced on both his past and present life. He felt extremely bad to see his wife in such condition and the fact that he played a major role in all that was presently happening, broke his heart even the more.

    “How did we get here? What happened to my once cheerful and loving wife that was so full of life and positivity? So I am truly a father of two boys now? Oh God!” Ace soberly said as he sat on the chair in the hospital’s waiting area. There was a wh0le lot going on in his mind at that moment and it almost brought tears to his eyes.
    After about 5 hours of waiting for a positive news from the doctors about Belinda’s health status, a nurse hurriedly walked to where Ace was sitting and informed him that his wife was now back to her consciousness. With great joy in his heart, he made his way to Belinda’s hospital room to see her.

    Immediately Ace entered the room and Belinda saw him, she burst into uncontrollable tears and held her forehead in the process. He rushed to her bed and gave her a very tight hug. They held each other tightly as they let loose of bottled up emotions and pains. It was such an emotionally draining day for both of them.

    “My son is gone, my son is gone, babe my son is gone. I am tired and my heart can’t take this much pain” Belinda soberly said as she cried bitterly. Ace tried to be strong and console her but couldn’t put himself together so he burst into tears too. “Babe I know I haven’t properly told you this but I am very Sorry! Babe please I’m sorry for partly putting you through all this. I’m so sorry for not being there for you like I should have, please forgive me babe. It’s killing me slowly to see you like this, my heart just can’t hold it together anymore. I am sorry babe, I miss what we used to have” He soberly said.

    It took a long time before the grieved couple were able to put themselves together and leave for their house. By the time they arrived home, Junior was already fast asleep so they went straight to their bedroom. Belinda was exhausted and headed straight to the bathroom to take her bath, while Ace went downstairs to fix her something to eat in bed. He returned with a tray filled with light dinner but his wife was still not out from the bathroom.

    “Babe, are you OK in there?” Ace curiously inquired but no one replied. He knocked on the door twice before he heard a sound of someone sobbing. Immediately Ace heard his wife crying, he opened the bathroom door and saw her helplessly lying on the floor. “Babe stop this now, please stop doing this to yourself. I have spoken to the DPO about this new development and he assured me that a search will begin first thing in the morning. This town and nation is too small for Rita to hide effectively with our son. She might have ran far away but will definitely be caught, just trust me babe. I don’t like seeing you this way; It’s killing me” he gently said.

    After those words of comfort left Ace’s mouth, Belinda’s began to feel a little better. Ace walked to where she was lying unclad and held her tightly in a bid to get her up from the floor. When she got up, he was moved to give her a k-ss and eventually did so. Despite the fact that she was angry with him, she didn’t hold back from k-ssing him too.

    They k-ssed passionately for a while and it didn’t take long before they both got turned on. Belinda tried to take off her husband’s clothes and he jacked her up in the process, while still k-ssing her.
    Immediately Belinda’s feet touched the ground, Ace turned on the shower and the water cascaded on them. As the water gently beat their bodies, Ace made love to his wife in a way he had never done since 6 years plus they got married. You know what they say about Make-Up Love Making? I guess that’s the effect the two lovebirds were experiencing at that moment because they have never had serious issues in their marriage before then.

    There was just so much emotions and feelings in every thr-st Ace made and it took Belinda to Cloud 9 faster than she had ever gotten there before. That moment was so magical and was like a medicine to their fading love for one another. Belinda didn’t want to leave the shower that day and wished that sweet moment would never end.
    One the other hand, Ace enjoyed his wife like he had never done before. It was just an awkward but yet sweet experience for the young man that was frustrated few hours back.

    At this junction, it’s safe to say that their dying love had been rekindled a bit. Such a relief indeed.!

    The following day, the search hunt was launched and Ace was ready to spend his last dime to make sure that Rita was found. They broadcast the information on Televisions and Radio stations. He even went as far as putting a bounty on Rita’s head; promising a huge amount of money to anyone with any substantial information on her whereabouts. Ace did everything he could to make sure that his wife’s faith in him was restored. He didn’t want her to worry or cry too much like she had been doing lately. With the search going on in such full force, it was just a matter of time before Rita’s new residence was found.

    It happened that Rita eloped to her elder sister’s house in the outskirts of town. She changed David’s school and they started life afresh there. The news of her whereabouts got leaked to the police by a couple she was contacted to clean their house. When she arrived at the couple’s house with David and also told them her name, it was then that they figured she could be the one they had been hearing about in the television news.

    Sadly, Rita had no access to a television nor radio in order to be able to know what was going on in the outside world. She was naive and never knew that a bounty was on her head.

    While Rita was still working in the couple’s house that day, they called the police on her and in a short while, the police arrived and she was arrested with David inclusive. As they took her to the station, she kept inquiring from the officers what her offence was but no one minded nor said anything to her as they bundled her to the station.
    Immediately Rita arrived at the police station, words were sent to Ace and Belinda; informing them of the good news. Without wasting time, they set off to the police station and this time around, Belinda carried Junior along.

    The ride to the police station was filled with so much tension as neither of them knew what was waiting for them ahead. They were a bit tensed as they now knew what Rita was capable of doing. When they arrived at the station, Belinda alighted from the car and carried Junior on her body as they all matched in,side the station.
    When they fully entered in,side, Rita was sighted sitting at one end of the station with handcuffs on her wrist, while David sat on her laps. When Rita saw them coming towards her, it finally dawned on her what was going on and why she was arrested.

    As the couple got closer to Rita, her heart dropped when she set her eyes on Junior. For some strange reasons, she felt as though a part of her that had been missing for a long time was finally found and fixed back into her life. The connection everyone was feeling at that moment was very strong and authentic.

    When Belinda and Ace finally got to where Rita was sitting, before either of them could utter any word, David and Junior quickly recognised themselves from the other day they played together at Junior’s school.
    The innocent kids ran towards each other and scre-med back at their parents saying; “Mummy, see my friend!”

    The bond and connection between a mother and her child can not be fathomed. A woman might not be sure of anything in her life but not when it comes to her feelings for her child. Belinda needed no seer to tell her that David was her 6 year old lost son because the confirmation was vivid in her heart and spirit. Without the approval or consultation of Rita, she made her way to her son and gave him the warmest hug he had ever received since his existence. That beautiful action and sight brought tears to Ace’s eyes while Rita was still confused on what was going on. It was truly about to go down that fateful day because so many secrets where about to be uncovered.

    “What is going on here? What do you mean by what you just told my son? Ace what have you come to my house to do after all these years I tried to contact you but you deliberately shut me off? Don’t lay a single finger on my son again because you both wouldn’t like to see the other side of me” Rita flared up and forcefully dragged David from Belinda’s hand.

    On seeing that things were about to take a different turn, Ace figured it was time for him to step in and explain what was going on. “Rita, can we just go in,side and talk? There’s a lot to be said and I bet you will understand better after we are done with the conversation” he gently requested but she wasn’t ready to have any conversation with either of them. “You are a big clown to think that I would care about anything you came here for. When I found out that I was pregnant, I tried to reach you severally but you ran away from me at every attempt I made to get closer to you; now here you are! Please leave my house before the neighbours will gather for us now. I said Leave!” Rita angrily said.

    As the situation was headed towards a dead end, Belinda figured that she had to do something because there was no way she would let her biological son still remain in the custody of another woman. That was never going to happen; at least not for the second time.

    “I know you are paranoid and confused as to why we are here and it’s OK to feel that way because I feel same too. I have been devastated since the very day it got to my notice that my baby boy was switched at the hospital on the day I gave birth to him. It was a DNA Test that revealed this scary secret to us and after series of professional investigations, we got to know that my husband had an affair with a lady in the past; which happened to be You.

    The DNA Test showed that I wasn’t the mother to my lovely son I had nurtured for the past 6 years, but it also showed that my husband was very much his dad. It sounded unbelievable initially but everything started to make sense when you came into the picture. It was after an intense investigation that we were able to trace you through ‘Living Streams Hospital’ delivery records. It took her just 2 days to totally disappear from the compound to an unknown location and territory.

    The day of the operation came and police officers invaded the compound with over 5 hefty men in uniform. Belinda and Ace were present and very ready to take back their son.

    Just so you know, Junior was still well taken care of and Belinda still saw him as her child; nothing had changed. They actually planned on giving Rita 50/50 custody of Junior because he was still very much Ace’s son. They also planned on changing her life by establishing a big business for her and also move her from the old place she was living in. If only Rita knew that these couple meant well for her too, she wouldn’t have done what she did and presently still doing. If only she knew!

    Immediately the officers invaded the compound, the went straight to Rita’s door and banged on it as though they wanted to bring it down. After banging severally but no response, they opened the door and it freely opened on it’s own without the need of a key.

    The officers were surprised but too hyped to care. They entered in,side only to meet an empty room. “No one is here” an officer said as they came out from the room.     It’s so funny how people with the worst secrets and skeletons in their cupboard are usually the first to suspect or point accusing fingers on an innocent person. Hurting people hurt others and it’s safe to say that Ace was the less loyal and unfaithful person in their union.

    The infidelity revelation brought tears to belinda’s eyes and left her dumbfounded. At that moment, she couldn’t react nor say anything because a scene would be inevitable if she did so. If yes, then we have a strong case to pursue but if not, then things might not look too good for our investigation”.

    It sounded like a good step in the right direction and the sad couple thanked the doctor for being far too kind and for also helping them get to the root of the matter they had found themselves in. After about 20 minutes later, the couple took their leave.

    The walk from the doctor’s office to the parking lot was one of the toughest walk of Belinda’s life. Her legs were extremely heavy due to the shock she was feeling from the wh0le saga in her marriage. As they walked to the car, she avoided eye contacts with Ace because she wasn’t sure of what she would do if she stared at him for any time longer than a second. The rage in her heart was intense but she tried her very best to curtail and manage the anger she was feeling within.

    All through the ride home, Belinda kept shedding bitter tears. It killed her within whenever it dawned on her that the lovely boy she had lived with for over 6 years wasn’t truly her son.     When they arrived home, Belinda was about to open the car door but Ace locked it from the control lock that was at his own door end. “Babe please let’s talk before we go in. There’s so much happening now and I guarantee it is out to destroy our marriage” Ace soberly said and before he could talk further, Belinda hushed him. “Don’t ever pretend like we are OK because we are not; I repeat, we are not OK! How can you do this to me? What did I do to deserve such back-to-back betrayal from you? My own child is somewhere out there and all the comfort I can get from you is the news that you cheated on me? What kind of husband are you? See, till I find my child and get to the root of this matter, just leave me the hell alone” she said and banged the door behind her.

    On thing was clear that evening and it was the fact that peace was far from the once peaceful and admirable union. Ace was at the lowest state in his life at that moment due to the shame he was feeling. He managed to carry himself in,side the house after sitting in the car for sometime.

    That night was the most traumatic and emotional night of Belinda’s life. She went to Junior’s room and just couldn’t stop staring at him. The reality that the little boy wasn’t truly her child, made her shed bitter tears.     It took the couple a lot of time before finally deciding to pay Rita a visit. The struggling single mum lived in a slump area of town and was fortunately at home when they came visiting one fateful day.

    There was a knock on the door that very day and a little boy opened the door to see who was knocking. Immediate Belinda saw the little boy, her heart dropped and for some strange reason, her spirit connected with him and she honestly didn’t know why. “Hello little man” she warmly greeted and before she could utter another word to the little boy, Rita walked out from the house and almost dropped dead when she saw Ace standing right in front of her.     Deep down in the doctor’s mind, he had already figured what could have went wrong but he didn’t want to attack the confused couple with questions or intense probing. The atmosphere was tensed already so the doctor figured it was best to let the couple take their time to digest the shocking revelation.

    “Doctor this is a joke right? Please don’t tell me you called us out here today for this clown show?” Belinda flared up in disapproval. At that moment, everything still felt like a movie to Ace, as he was still trying to connect the dots of what was happening right in front of him.

    The doctor expected Belinda’s reaction so he wasn’t too surprised that she didn’t believe the test results. Like who would believe such information? How can you tell a woman that birthed and nursed her baby right from infancy that her child wasn’t hers? If you were the one, wouldn’t you laugh at such information? On seeing that there was no other option of determining the truth, the couple agreed to run the test again and this time, they would do it together and at the same time.

    Immediately after the couple agreed to carry out the test again, the test materials were extracted from their body and taken to the lab right away. There and then, Ace wired another money for the Test of both himself and his wife. It annoyed him slightly that he was losing a lot of money due to the new development but he let the wh0le thing slide just for clarity sake.

    After everything was done, Ace and Belinda left the hospital more confused and scared than they initially were when they first came in. Throughout the ride home, they didn’t utter a word to each other because they were both deep in thoughts. The atmosphere in the car was very awkward that they even avoided eye contacts. At this point, it was safe to say that their marriage had officially began to take a turn towards destruction and danger. The truth was still hidden, but for how long more? It was just a matter of few days before everything comes to broad day light. Quite unfortunate indeed!

    When they arrived home, Belinda hurriedly opened the door and banged it behind her. At that point, she was at the verge of losing her mind so she figured it was best to isolate herself from her husband, just for things not to blow out of proportion.

    After about 30 minutes of being in,side the car, it dawned on Ace that Junior was still in school so he headed out to his son’s school to pick him up. The little boy took the trash and headed outside to dispose them but was distracted by the fun play that was going on in the school premises.     “Come and play with us” Junior playfully said from afar. David smiled and hurriedly joined the group of children to play. They did so many fun things and could hérdly catch their breath. Everyone was having an awesome time but the play had to cease when Ace arrived and beckoned on Junior to get into the car. “Bye Bye!” Junior emotional said as he ran to meet up with his dad waiting in,side the car. Immediately they drove off, Rita came outside in search of David whom she had been waiting for.

    All through the ride to the hospital that day, the couple kept thinking about one thing or the other and barely had peace of mind. For some weird reason, Belinda was scared of the outcome of their visit to the hospital; the thought of the unknown was scary and made her palms extremely sweaty. On the other hand, Ace wasn’t left out as he was secretly scared too. After about 2 hours drive, they arrived at the hospital and made their way to the doctor’s office.

    “Hello, welcome once again, please have a seat” the doctor warmly said; just to make them feel comfortable. Immediately everyone settled down, the doctor began to counsel them first and that felt quite suspicious and also confirmed their fears that something was wrong somewhere.

    It took the doctor over an hour of beating around the bush before he summoned enough courage to drop a shocker. “Belinda, what you are about to hear might be highly devastating but I assure you that the case isn’t a hopeless one because something can be done to get to the root of it” The doctor said with a faint smile. He turned and looked at Ace afterwards and said; “You will need to be questioned after I say what I am about to say because so many things just doesn’t add up”.

    As the doctor was done speaking in parables, he finally hit the Nail on the Head. “Belinda, your results came out Negative yet again, while your husband’s own came out Positive. This only means one thing, which is the confirmation that you are not the true mother of your son but your husband is truly his father. Trust me when I say we use the best equipment and procedure for our Tests and it can’t be wrong Twice. There is nothing fishy and my guesses are that you might have adopted the baby from a lady that got impregnated by your husband or your baby was switched at birth with someone that was impregnated by your husband stll. These are the only possible explanations as to the situation urgently on ground. I will give you both some privacy to try and talk things out to know if any of my guesses could be right” the doctor said and walked away.

    Immediately the Doctor left, Belinda was lost in thoughts and held her chest in the process. It was at that moment that Ace was hit with a sudden ‘Trans’ that took him down memory lane in a flash of light. The memories from a particular night hit him and left his eyes wide open.

    The look on Ace’s face was a confirmation to Belinda that there were some skeletons in his cupboard. It was then that she picked interest and began the conversation that led to the reveal of more deep dirty secrets. “Is there anything you want us to talk about? What is going on? I feel so ashamed of myself and don’t know how to redeem myself in your sight because it’s clear you are disappointed in me. I still trusted you regardless and forgave you secretly without an actual apology from you but now all I get is a stab at my back.

    I am not angry with the fact that you did a DNA Test, I am rather angry because you were sneaky about it. Belinda was certainly among those good eggs, but we can’t say same for her husband ‘Ace’, because so many things weren’t adding up with the recent findings in their relationsh¡p. Belinda was still in the dark but not for too long anymore.

    First thing in the morning the next day, the couple zoomed off to the hospital to conduct the DNA Test. To Ace, he actually wasn’t too bothered about the wh0le thing as he felt his wife was just letting her anger get the better part of her. He couldn’t wait for the test to be over so he could apologise properly and make things up to his wife. If only he knew that a bomb was about to be detonated in his home that would make peace far fetched, then I guess he would have reconsidered his thoughts.

    When they arrived at the hospital, the test was conducted with haste because Ace had already informed the Doctor before hand of what was going on. The doctor understood perfectly fine and had to do it just to save their marriage and for peace to reign.

    After the test, they were informed on when the results would be out before finally taking their leave. All through the ride home, Belinda faced towards the window and didn’t utter any word to Ace. He knew she was still mad at him despite apologising over a hundred times but that didn’t stop him from apologising further. Their marriage was going through a rough path but Ace remained positive that they would scale through sooner or later.

    Immediately they got home, Belinda went to her son’s room and locked the door. She was there with Junior all through and tried her best to free her mind from the drama that was happening in her marriage. Every look at Junior brought tears to her eyes and it got the little boy confused. “Mummy why are you laughing and crying?” he innocently inquired. Belinda smiled and tickled him and they both laughed. It was such a sweet moment between mother and son but how long was such moment going to last? Well, we will find out.

    Days passed as they waited for the DNA Test result to be out. The couple lived like strangers in the same house and barely spoke to each other. To be honest, Belinda actually cared less about the DNA Test; she just insisted on doing the test just to get back at her husband.     Finally, the long awaited test results were out and the couple were informed to come for it. At that time, the anger in Belinda’s heart had subsided but she still needed to finished what she had started just to prove a point to her husband.

    As they drove down to the hospital, Ace sudden developed cold feets for reasons unknown. His heart raced non stop and he didn’t know why at all. Maybe, it was nature’s way of telling the young man that there was fire on the mountain but no one was running yet. I believe his instincts were reacting to the bomb that was about to be detonated at the hospital. Too bad he couldn’t see the future to know what was before him that very day.

    They arrived at the hospital shortly and headed to the doctor’s office. Immediately they entered in,side, the countenance of the doctor was off; he looked confused than relaxed. “Good morning doctor” the couple greeted as they took their seats. It was such an awkward meeting and it wasn’t long before Ace sensed that something was wrong somewhere. “We are here for the result” Ace said out of nowhere, just to break the silence in the room.

    The doctor looked at Belinda and began to probe her with questions. “How long have you two been married?” he asked, “6 years plus” she replied and he nodded slightly. “When did you have your baby?” he continued, “6 years ago” she replied, “at which hospital?” he added, “Living Stream Hospital” she replied.

    At that moment, Ace was beginning to get scared as he wondered why the doctor was asking his wife all those questions. He looked lost as they conversed and finally ch¡pped in after listening for a while. “Doctor what is it? I’m getting confused now” he said.

    The doctor looked at both of them and took a deep breath. He looked at Belinda afterwards and dropped a shocker; “Your test came out Negative, which means Junior isn’t your son”.

    Shocked and confused, Belinda scre-med “What!”. The doctor confusingly looked at her and said; “I am shocked myself”.

    There’s a popular saying that bad company corrupts good manners. When you linger too long in the presence of negative influence, it’s just a matter of time before you get negatively influenced. Just so you know, conducting a DNA Test to determine the paternity of your child with your spouse isn’t bad at all; especially when there’s nothing for either of you to hide, but the problem is that these kind of tests are usually conducted secretly by one party of the union and the motive for doing the test is most often tied to lack of trust for the other party. Now, do you know how sad it is for your spouse to doubt the paternity of his child with you? How sad it is for your spouse to go behind your back to conduct a test that scre-ms “I don’t trust you”? I know majority might find nothing wrong for one party of a marriage union to conduct a DNA Test and it’s perfectly OK to think such way, but one question remains unanswered in cases such as this and that question is no other than “Why marry someone you don’t trust?”.

If there’s any skeleton in anyone’s cupboard, it will definitely get exposed after the test but if there isn’t any shady thing to hide, then both parties will be vindicated evenly. If things were done this way, then I guess the hurt and pain of the presence of distrust will be on a minimal level, than if one party conducted the test in secret.

    Moving on, things weren’t looking too beautiful again in the marriage union of the once loving couple. Ace had started nurturing a secret intention of conducting a DNA Test on his child to confirm if his son ‘Junior’ was truly his. He was immediately linked to a doctor in another town that did such test. The doctor was contacted and an appointment was booked for the following week.

    Ace was instructed by the doctor to get some hair samples of his son for the test. The test cost a lot of money but that wasn’t going to stop the desperate man from getting some answers.

    The sight of Ace creeping and tiptoeing into Junior’s room that night was enough to bring tears to the eyes of any faithful wife. It might look or feel like nothing to some people and might feel like the height of betrayal to others. Not everyone is unfaithful and there’s nothing as devastating as being perceived as something you are far from. Poor Belinda!

    Days slowly passed by as Ace waited for his doctor’s appointment. Those few days were the most traumatising days of his life and it gave him goose-bumps and intense tension. He couldn’t just wait to get everything over with and know the truth once and for all. After waiting for few days, the D-day finally came for the DNA Test to be conducted.

    Before Ace went out of town that very day, Belinda woke up early and made him the best breakfast he have had in a while.     “Good day sir” the nurse at the hospital reception greeted, “Good afternoon, my name is Ace and I have an appointment with Doctor Mark” he said. The nurse immediately processed the information and told him to wait a little. After waiting for about 20 minutes, he was called into the Doctor’s office.

    It was a swift visit; the hair samples were collected and the test fee was paid after a brief counselling. Ace was informed on when the results will be out. He thanked the doctor for being of good service and took his leave.

    As problem and crisis drew nearer to the couple’s marriage, Belinda started having strange nightmares about things that weren’t clear to her understanding. She started sensing the danger ahead and her peace of mind gradually diminished. On the other hand, Ace pretended as though he was up to nothing and went about his normal life, with his fingers crossed as he anticipated the DNA Test result.

    On the fateful day that broke the camel’s back, Belinda woke up that morning with cold feets. She didn’t know why she was so scared and worried. The first place she went to that morning was her son’s room. The sight of Junior sleeping peacefully was to die for.     Immediately Ace drove far away from his house, he parked the car at the side walk of the road and dialed the doctor’s number. The phone rang briefly before he picked up. “Hello doctor, trust you slept well? I was busy when you called” Ace said, Good morning, It’s fine; I wanted to call yesterday evening but was busy too. I just want to inform you that the result is out” the doctor said.

    That piece of information sent chills down Ace’s spine. He was now close to finding out the truth that had tortured him for quite a long time. “Do I need to come to the hospital? or you can tell me now what the result says and I will appreciate it” he said, “You want to know right now? Through the phone?” the doctor inquired and he replied ‘Yes please!”.

    The moment of truth had finally come. The reply that would make or break Belinda’s marriage was about to be let loose. Ace heart raced and his palms suddenly became sweaty as he desperately anticipated the doctor’s reply.

    After a moment of silence, the doctor finally said; “The paternity result came out Negative; You are the Father of your Son”.

How was she supposed to know that the nurses she entrusted her delivery to were careless and not observant? How was the poor lady supposed to know that she would give birth on a day her husband and mother would be out of sight? How was she supposed to know all these things? Too bad!

    A day that seemed like a great and beautiful one for the new mum; a day that marked a new dawn in the life of the young couple was actually the beginning of their down fall and future heart aches. It was only going to take a matter of time before the devil raises it’s ugly horns. It was only just a matter of time before the happiness that once dwelt in their home vanishes and turns into sadness. At this point, the clock had already began to tick.

    Rita was a single mother in her late 30’s who got pregnant from a one night stand experience. The lady wasn’t a ideal role model for a child to grow up around because she lived a reckless and unadmirable lifestyle. The name was one that depicts Strength, Power & Might, which showed that he was destined for greatness.

    The arrival of David in the life of Rita mounted additional pressure on her to have multiple streams of income. The new mum hustled h-rder than before just to make sure that she met up with the demand that came with being a mother. More men patronised her body because her cleaning job couldn’t foot all the bills.

How half dead you would feel to know that your own flesh and blood is getting less than they deserve somewhere, while you are giving your all and all to another person’s flesh and blood? It’s a different case if you are aware, but a total different one if you aren’t aware. Believe me when I say no one on earth wouldn’t feel devastated if mistakenly found in such a situation as this. Poor Belinda!

    As time went by, the boys grew up too. They both turned out to be smart and handsome; despite the fact that they received different treatments. At 5 years of age, they were very smart and that made their switched parents proud.

    Despite the fact that Rita couldn’t give David the best things of life, she tried her best to make sure he was doing fine at least. He went to a public school but yet did outstandingly in his academics.

    The manner at which David turned out to be a promising child gradually made Rita to change form her wayward ways and become a responsible woman. She started cutting off ties with her numerous lovers and focused more on her work as a cleaner. Life wasn’t too fair to them unlike Ace that provided his son with top-notch education standard and privileges. He made sure Junior had the best education as a 5 year old and was ever ready to spend more to ensure that his son got the very best.

    However, things began to go south after some years. It turns out that Belinda and Ace had been trying to have another child but it wasn’t just happening. They kept trying to give Junior a sibling but all to no avail. After Junior clocked 6 years old without a sibling yet, they couple began to get worried gradually.

    To Ace, everything wasn’t just adding up because he saw no reason why his wife couldn’t birth another child after birthing the first one. He carried that uncertainty in his heart for a long time but never talk about it. They kept trying and trying to have another baby but was always disappointed every month whenever Belinda saw her menstrual flow.

    After several years of trying, the couple decided to be contented with what they had till God decides to bless them with another baby. Everything went on smoothly till one fateful day.

    As they conversed, Ace listened attentively from a distance and nodded his head in disbelief as his colleagues discussed the DNA issue. After about few minutes of being mute, he ch¡pped in from afar; “How can you do a DNA Test solely for the reason of finding out if your child is yours? That simply means you don’t trust the woman you said your vows to and that is disheartening” he said.

    Immediately Ace said that, his colleagues jumped at him and gave him multiple reasons why a DNA Test was going to be a compulsory thing for them to conduct on all their future kids. On seeing that their opposing opinions were strong, he gently redrew from the conversation and stopped trying to prove a point; but it was already too late because a seed of doubt had already been sown in his heart.

    All through that day, Ace kept thinking of the word ‘DNA Test’. He tried to waived it off because he knew for sure that his wife would never cheat on him nor bring a false child to his home and deceive him into believing that the child was his. No Way!

    But you know what they say about the devil being the most deceptive creature that ever liveth? The devil knows how to make a person nurture a thought and then bloom it. The devil already knew that Ace’s colleagues had succeeded in planting a thought in his mind so the best thing that could be done by the devil was to magnify that thought.

    It got to a point where Ace couldn’t successfully come online on social media without seeing a post or an article that talked about DNA Test. It felt like the wh0le universe was in sync with passing the information across to him. Every post or article he saw magnified the thought and made him more vulnerable to actually conducting the test. He tried to fight it but just couldn’t and finally succ-mbed one fateful day.

    On that day, Ace arrived at the office and walked straight to the office of those his colleagues that were discussing about ‘DNA Test’ the other day. He was fortunate enough to meet one of them and after exchanging greetings and pleasantries, Ace took a deep breath and shamefully said; “Bro, I want to conduct a DNA test for Junior, do you have any link outside town because my wife must never know about it”. Immediately he was done talking, his colleague burst out in laughter and shouted; “Boss, so even you?”. Ace smiled fainted and nodded ‘Yes’ afterwards.

God saw a catastrophe ahead and tried to protect these lovely couple but they weren’t attentive enough to catch God’s signals. Too bad!

    Life continued as nothing was heard or communicated and as Belinda’s delivery date drew nearer, her fear worsened. She searched her heart over again to get even the slightest clue of why she kept having cold feet about delivering her baby in the hospital but no clarity was in sight. With Belinda’s mother being a good support system, the elderly woman encouraged her daughter to be fearless and was always there to boost her faith whenever it was wavering. After a little while, the fear gradually disappeared and was no where to be found. it’s too sad that they succeeded in shutting a voice that tried to prevent them from a future disaster. If only they knew? Too bad they didn’t.

    Finally, the highly anticipated day came. On the day Belinda’s water broke, Ace was out of town and couldn’t make it to his wife’s delivery. The only closest person to Belinda at that moment was their house helper, gate man and driver. They all carried her in,side the car and the driver zoomed off to the hospital she was scheduled to give birth in.

    Immediately they left the house to the hospital, the house help called Belinda’s mother and told her about the new development. Without letting the lady finish passing the information across, Belinda’s mum hanged the call and immediately headed to the hospital to be there for her daughter.

    Everything happened so fast that day and before the driver even reached the hospital, labour pains began. As they arrived at the hospital, Belinda was rushed to the labour room and after a little while, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy but something unfortunate happened that day.

    It happened that immediately Belinda gave birth, she became very tired and dozed off without consciously looking at her baby very well to at least know his face. At that time, her mum was still on her way to the hospital and hadn’t arrived yet. It happened that the nurses in charged of the delivery took the baby out of the room to clean him up, but they forgot to tag him for easy identification.

    After the nurses were done cleaning the baby, one of them laid him on a large baby court that contained 3 other babies. The 3 babies there were tagged on their hands expect Belinda’s child. Everything happened so fast and before the nurses could tag the child, another baby boy without a tag was immediately brought in for cleaning too.

    The babies looked almost the same that it was a bit difficult to differentiate them without a tag. After they were done cleaning the new baby that arrived, Belinda’s mum arrived at the hospital and immediately requested to see her grandchild. Belinda was still asleep at the time and wasn’t aware of what was happening. Due to the swift manner at which her mum demanded to see her grandchild, the nurse who just came in assumed that the baby that currently underwent cleaning belonged to Belinda, so she carried that one to meet the excited granny. The fact that it was a boy and there wasn’t a tag on the baby’s wrist, made it convincing that he belonged to Belinda; as it was apparent to the nurse that the birth just happened a few minutes ago. If only they all knew that the right baby was still lying on the baby’s court at the cleaning room. Quite unfortunate!

    As the nurse made a majestic entrance to Belinda’s hospital room with a wrong baby, another nurse was making a majestic entrance to another woman’s hospital room with Belinda’s son. What a heartbreaking and careless situation. At that point, there was nothing anyone could do to reverse the mistake because no one was aware of the error that had happened.

    Immediately the nurse entered the room, Belinda regained consciousness and her baby boy was handed over to her. Smiles filled everyone’s face as they looked at the little bundle of joy staring them in the face. He was so peaceful to behold and it sent chills down Belinda’s spine.

    The happy mother looked at her switched baby boy with a smile on her face and gently said; “Welcome to the World my Prince”.
