    Back in the police station where Inspector Michael who received Jerry’s call was waiting patiently for the call to come in again but nothing happened.

    “Sir I think something is wrong somewhere ” on of the constable said to him

    “I think the guy trying to tell us a useful information about something, something is wrong somewhere ” Inspector Micheal Said taking a sigh of relief

    “Constable, track the number let’s know where the guy is and get the team ready let’s move ”

    “Yes sir ” he said and left meanwhile the night was becoming dark bit by bit.

Edna glanced at him and then looked away without saying since they got into the vehicle none of them said a word to each other.
    The car finally come to a halt as Michael stepped down while Edna was still in the car looking at Jack in the eyes that says “what am I doing here ” Jack understood it but pretended as if be knew not.

    “It’s dangerous here girl let’s go In ” Jack said

    “Thanks for the offer but I’m going nowhere, take m^ back to my house, I’m not begging you for accommodation “Edna said still sitting angrily in the car.

    “I’m sorry it’s late already, you can leave tomorrow morning as early as possible ” Jack said but it was fruitless as Edna grabbed the car door, open it and began walking into the darkness thinking that it will be possible, Jack stood and watch her going without saying anything, he pushed the dark gate that was before him open and walked in.

    “See you tomorrow, same location ” he said to the driver as he nodded his head in agreement, just as he wanted to close the gate, he sighted Edna running back to him in fear, Jack smiled while Edna pushed him out of the way and entered inside without saying a word to him.

    “Let’s go in ” he said leading the way as she reluctantly follow, Jack typed in some password and the door cracked open which got Edna frightened incase of anything she can’t escape it.

    “Feel at home, what can I offer you “?

    “I don’t need anything from you, just show me where to have my rest ” she fired

    Jack stood up leading her to her room which was nothing but filled with everything she needed,
    “Just manage this one, everything you need is here just check around and some of my shirts are there for you to use. Call me if you need anything, the phone is there ” he said and walked away while Edna sat on the bed scanning everywhere again.

    Jack walked to his room, switched on the lights and then walked to the bathroom for his quick shower and then back to his room.

    The time was running very fast like never before as it clocks 5:47am as Edna stretched lazily on the bed and then got up yawning, looking around she recall that she’s still in Jack’s house she walked to the bathroom and everything was just magnificent, she entered the bathroom tub and then started her bathing process which the cold water ran down her body body freely as she enjoyed every bit of it. just then reality struck if Jerry’s whereabouts if he’s fine or he’s dead, what will Jerry think of her, a criminal? a thief or what. The thought alone broke her heart as she regretted ever following Jack to visit house and it’s all because of bim that Jerry is injured, she ever regretted ever knowing Jack and the mess she has gotten herself into. She grabbed the towel that was hanging there, wrapped around her body and walked out of the bathroom , her mind was made up to leave just immediately to check on Jerry, just then her phone began ringing, looking at the screen it was Lilly her friend.

    “Lilly good morning ”

    “Save your greetings Edna where have you been and where are you now ? she asked while Edna kept mute

    “It’s a long story dear I’m on my way back now and I will make everything clear to you now ” she said dressing up instantly

    “You better do because I heard that it’s because of you Jerry is wounded, Edna who is that girl and don’t tell me you are with him now ” Lilly ask as a caring sister while Edna ended the call instantly as she felt hurt and broken that she had betrayed her love for Jerry. She threw the phone on the bed as tears formed in her eyes. “I’m sorry Jerry I’m coming for you. she said as tears dropped from her eyes.

    Jack walked away from the door who heard everything that happened, he sat on the sitting room like nothing happened. Just then Edna took the stairs down to where he sat looking sad and broken.

    “You can go now a car a waiting to drop you at home “Jack said almost immediately and Edna wondered if he has been eavesdropping on her.

    “Have you been eavesdropping on my call “? she asked

    “Like I said you can go now ”

    just like she wanted to make a move a sound and heavy knock that sounded on the door like a thunder clash made them both shook in fear as Jack stood up in alert brought out his gun and positioned it well in case of any attack.

    Micheal stood for a while before he finally moved away with his boys after fruitless efforts of searching everywhere for Jack but couldn’t find him, just as they left Jack came out of his hiding place scanning everywhere for them and smiled seeing them at a far distance.
    Edna’s eyes caught with that of Jack who didn’t mind to avert it anymore, Jerry followed the direction of the eye and his attention was drifted to Jack who was being referred to as the criminal by the cops .

    “No…yes….I mean….yes…” she stammered and Jerry didn’t understand what was happening
    “When did you start stammering? he asked but Edna dodged the question kissing him on the lips returning the rest of the words to his belly.

    JACK POV

    My nerves calm down seeing how the girl saved my life which I’ve not seen or known before, I peeped out of my hiding place to see her pointing her hands to another direction deceiving the cops that I went that way, I tried to control myself as a man but I just couldn’t because the favour was just too much for a lady to do for me but she just did it without minding the implications. I saw the fear on her face the time she sighted me coming out of my hiding place. I must surely find her again.

    Edna was still in her room after she was done preparing the food meant for her sweetheart when she heard his car horn from outside, she smiled, wore her slippers and then walked outside to behold the handsome Justin who walked majestically down the house, she ran to him and jumped on him that he almost fell down.

    “Candy you’re here ”
    “Yes baby I’m here ” Justin replied kissing her while she reciprocated wrapping her hands around how neck.

    “You’re not serious ” Jack replied smiling

    ” I don’t know ” she replied walking closer to Lilly, just as she arrived where Lilly sat her eyes met the most her greatest nightmare.
    There stood Jack the guy she earlier ran into, the criminal, the thief who she saved earlier, her legs weakened while her lips shivered.
    Jack eyes met with her own and he averted it smiling seeing the guy she walked with but pretended as if he hasn’t seen her before. Edna physical reaction showed that something was wrong.

    “What’s it sweetheart? Jerry asked
    “I’m cool candy “she replied holding his hands for confident just then the cops arrived the bar with full squard.
    “Freeze!!! They all shouted pointing their pistol, everyone stood still. Edna turn back to look at where Jack stood but he was nowhere to be found again.

They asked Edna who stood like a motlen image without knowing what to say nor she felt like revealing where Jack is hiding since she hates criminal but the feelings she was having at the moment proved everything useless, she stood watching the cops as if they are speaking foreign languages.

    “Sorry he went that way ” she said pointing to another direction entirety without knowing why.
    “Thank you ma’am ” he murmured and the cops went that way while some people who stood next to her wondered why she decided to hide the thief from the cops instead of showing them where he’s hiding.
    Jack finally came out of his hiding place after the cops had gone their way, he overheard everything that took place and how Edna lied to them.

    Jack came out looking Edna in a eye that explains danger and walked away in pain.
    Edam finally got a taxi and the man drove her to her house which she was staying for the mean time. She got down,paid the taxi man and walked into the building with her shopping bag, just then her phone began ringing, she brought it out looking at the screen and smile before picking the girl.

    She opened the door to her room, threw the things she bought on the bed and sat down taking off her heels which was now paining her.
    “Oh jeez! What have I gotten myself into “? She murmured scattering her hair remembering how she hid Jack back then from the cops which was not like her, a criminal for that matter.

    “Oh God, help me if am going mad please deliver me “! She said standing up from the bed and walked to the refrigerator, picked a bottle of chilled water and emptied it into her dry throat, she sigh in relief and then walked back to the bed and took off her dress.

    “Hey babe how are you doing? Edna asked on phone while her phone was in between her neck and shoulder while she was peeling onions and the sweetest flavour that filled the room and it made sense in the nostils.
    “I’m fine girl, but I’m tired of searching for jobs everyday, today is the worst ” Lilly complained on phone.
    “Worry not babe, everything will be fine soon ” she said after some random talks on different things she finally hang up the call concerntrating on the chicken she was frying.

    Jack got to the house with pains and almost at the point of dying, he collapsed on the floor with blood all over the place they shot him. The pains were unbearable for him, Jack doesn’t give a damn f***k about anything or anyone, he crawled in the floor since the pains was just too much for him to be walking again, he crawled to where he normally keeps his first aid materials, grabbed it and then open it to reveal the first aid materials starring at him.

    He picked the one he needed just to treat himself, he tore his clothes that was soaked with blood and then set everything in place to treat himself, just as he was about commencing the treatment, a heavy knock sounded on the door, he immediately grabbed his pistol which was on the floor positioned it at the door, the knock came again this time very heavy and mighty as he crawled and hid under the bed and then the door cracked open.
