The security guards showed up, seizing him by the arm.

“Let go of me! I can walk on my own” Ashton said, pulling out of their hold.

He turn to Stephanie, his eyes train on her as he said.

“This isn’t over. I will be back”

As he went off with security, Stephanie wondered why his words had her scared and unedge.

An older Bobby Cruise sat behind his desk while his secretary brief him on his schedule.

The arrival of a man by the door got him sending his secretary out.

It wasn’t until he got to his car that he set her down and when he did, Susan grab a handful of his hair making him scream out in pain.

The taxi driver took hold of Susan hand, giving Stanley a chance to free himself.

“Let go of me! Let me go!” Susan yell at the taxi driver now holding her.

“Let her go” Stanley instruct and reluctantly the taxi driver did as he said.

Susan tried to run away but Stanley caught her by the waist and pull her to himself, his arms forming a barricade around her.

“What the hell are you doing!” Susan yell, glaring at him.

And at that moment, Stanley notice how deep brown her eyes is and how it brighten up whenever she’s angry and he didn’t miss out on her lips who was is currently cursing him, she has a curvaceous and tempting lips.

“Calm down you vixen. I don’t plan to hurt you but if you continue with this, I will have to” Stanley threaten.

“I only want to take you to meet my boss and he only wants to talk to you and nothing else, Fannie Grey” Stanley said using that name again.

“I am not Fannie Grey” Susan said, calming down a little.

“You don’t have to lie to get….”

“It’s the truth, I am not Fannie Grey but Susan Grey, Fannie’s aunt. If you just let go, I can prove it to you” Susan said cutting him off.

Reluctantly, Stanley let her go and she move away from him making Stanley wonder why it felt a bit cold with her out of his arms.

“Here, this is my ID and passport” Susan said showing the two to him.

After confirming her name, the next thing Stanley take notice of is Susan date of birth.

She’s thirty five, six years older to his twenty nine years, Stanley thought handing her back her ID and passport.

“If you aren’t Fannie Grey then where is she?” Stanley ask.

“We didn’t book the same flight. She book the next flight which is arriving soon, if you don’t return to the airport ” Susan lied.

With her luggage in hand, Susan watch them get into the car.

“Are you sure you don’t want us giving you a lift?” Stanley ask.

“I am and the earlier you leave, the better for me cause I don’t ever want to cross path with people like you again!” Susan yell at them.

“Fine then, your wish is my command” Stanley answer and drive off with the fake taxi driver following suit.

“Hope you grow old at the airport waiting for Stephanie” Susan mutter while hailing a taxi.

Unknown to her, Stanley and the taxi driver didn’t leave.

Instead, he got his car park on the other street and hail a taxi.

“Shouldn’t we be heading to the airport?” His companion ask as he got in with him.

“Can’t you tell by now that the airport is just a lie she made up. I’m pretty sure that she’s going to meet Fannie and so, we follow her” Stanley told him.

“I almost fell for it. She’s sneaky”

“Sneaky and beautiful” Stanley added, his eyes on the taxi which has Susan in it.

When Susan got out of the taxi in front of Saint Martin hospital an hour later, Stanley made a call to Ashton.

“I just went to the cafeteria to get something to eat, I will be up soon” Stephanie said, ending the call to her aunt.

Ever since she arrive, she has been at Fiona’s bed side and it was the nurse in charge of Fiona’s ward that ended up persuading her to go get lunch.

She had reluctantly agree and ended up missing her aunt who just arrive.

Stephanie press on the lift button and got in, her floor was on the seventh floor but when she got to the third floor, the lift door open to someone who is also heading to the seventh floor.

Stephanie look up from her phone to see a familiar face watching her quietly.

Ever since she got to Australia, it has been her sole wish never to come across the people who hurt her but that wish is definitely not coming true, Stephanie thought as she keep starring at Ashton Maverick, the man who had hurt her years ago.

It wasn’t until he took a step towards the lift that she press the close button but it was too late, since he is in already.

When Stanley told him about Fannie Grey being in the hospital, he had think it to be his luck since he is currently in the same hospital to see his doctor.

He was heading to the seventh floor where he can get some info about Fannie Grey when he came across her.

How he seem to remember her name after five years puzzled him and her acting like she didn’t know him got him irritated.

He’s used to people giving him attention and suddenly being ignored by this lady is making his anger boil.

“Is it a new habit to ignore someone when they talk to you?” Ashton ask and that finally got Stephanie to reply.

“And is it in your masochistic world to force someone to talk to you when its obvious that she doesn’t want to?”

The lift door open to the seventh floor when she said that and not waiting for his reply, Stephanie walk out of it.

Ashton got out too, the thought of Fannie Grey out of his mind as he went after the woman walking off.

” A hello would have been a pleasant reply, afterall we were once….close and also,I am not a masochist” Ashton said, wondering why her words unnerve him.

“It’s not a crime wanting to know what happen to the child you claim to be mine. Did you find the father or did you abort the child? Judging by your profession, It wouldn’t be a surprise to know that you got rid of the bastard when you failed….”

A resounding slap ended whatever Ashton was going to say.

Surprise by this attack, he stared at Stephanie only to receive another slap.

A angry Stephanie raise her hand to give him the third slap when he caught it.

“Two slap in a row is enough” Ashton said, letting her go.

For years now, they’ve been on waitlisting for a new heart for Fiona and luckily, a spot for her was made and the surgery will be taking place in Australia.

A city she vowed never to go to again but she doesn’t have a choice and Fiona’s life matter to her than any vow she made to herself.

“We don’t. You know how much my mom love them” David said, breaking into her thoughts.

“Alright! I won’t look at them,satisfied? Stephanie said, pacifying him just as she will pacify a younger brother.

Susan was the only one who notice the possessive look that cross David face at that moment.

“Good to be back home. I just hope I don’t cross path with those idiots or I swear, I will make them pay ” Susan mutter as she walk out of the airport, breathing in the fresh air of the city.

“Have got a free taxi, Miss” a man said, approaching her.

“Oh, thanks” Susan got into the taxi and in no time they were on their way to the hospital.

She got a message from Stephanie who had arrive earlier than her and is at the hospital with Fiona.

Susan text and look up only to see the driver taking the wrong route.

“This isn’t the route to the hospital” Susan said.

“It is miss” the driver reply, looking a bit nervous and suspicious.

“Stop the car, I said stop the car!” Susan yell and when he didn’t do that, she pull his hair making him scream, he had no choice but to step on the brake.

Susan quickly got out of the car, running for her life but she ran straight into someone arms.

“Are you okay, Miss?” Stanley ask.

“That man is….”

“Thank God it’s you Stanley. She is Susan Grey” the taxi driver said as he approach them.

Susan figured out the two are working together and when she tried to escape, Stanley tighten his hold.

“Nice try. You might have use a fake name so no one will recognize you but I know who you are Fannie Grey” He called, thinking Susan to be Fannie Grey, without waiting for Susan reply, Stanley lift her onto his shoulder, heading to his car.

“My boss will like to have a word with you” Stanley said to a screaming Susan……

Stephanie woke up to find Susan beside her.

“Why isn’t my baby here?”

A while later, Stephanie and Susan stood in the special room, starring at her three little angels, two girls and a boy.

“See, you should have gone for the scan when I told you to” Susan admonish.

“I should have” Stephanie reply, her maternal love taking control at that moment.

“Have you thought of names for them?” Susan ask, lifting the boy into her arms to place him in Stephanie arm.

“From now on, we will only look forward to the future and never to the past, promise me that?”

“I promise, aunt” Stephanie said, vowing in her heart to keep her children away from the people who hurt her including their father.

In no time, Stephanie made it to the hotel and while on her way to the room Bianca told her she will be in. The receptionist handed her the card key.

“Miss Bianca told me to give you when you arrive” the receptionist explain.

Stephanie wonder what Bianca is up to as she made way to the lift which whisk her up to the third floor.

She found the room and was about to knock when she decided to use the card key.

Stephanie walk in, hearing muffled voices, something told her that what she’s about to see will be unpleasant.

She open the door slowly and saw Bianca in bed with Bobby.

“Do you think Stephanie remembered what we did that night?” Bianca ask, unaware of Stephanie presence at the door.

“What night?” Bobby ask.

“The Ashton Maverick birthday night. Do you think she remember we spike her drink?” Bianca ask again.

“I hope she doesn’t. Don’t you know she might file a report on us. When Benny told me the girl he hired for that night had bail on him and that he needs a girl to present to his cousin Ashton as a birthday gift, I offered Stephanie just to get some money. I feel like a heel” Bobby said softly.

“Why blame yourself? It’s Stephanie fault for not sensing a trap and falling into it and besides, you are planning to end things with her, you can use her night with Ashton to break up with her” Bianca return gently.

“Do you think so?” Bobby ask.

“Of course. Make her feel guilty and end things with her, for sure she will let it go. It’s time we make our relationship public” Bianca told him, trailing her finger down his chest and he chuckle.

Not being able to withstand it, Stephanie open the door walking in on them.

Bobby had a surprise look as he sat up but Bianca was smiling, like she had intended for Stephanie to hear them.

“Stephanie” Bobby called softly.

“How could you? How could you do that to me! If it had been money you want then you should have told me, you didn’t have to go far” Stephanie yell at him.

“Steph I can explain” Bobby said getting off the bed.

“Explain what? You don’t have to explain yourself to her!” Bianca yell, getting off the bed too.

“Bianca is right. You don’t have to explain yourself to me, she called me here to listen to your conversation and I heard everything but keep one thing in mind, Bobby. She will never make you happy, not like the way I did” Stephanie said, dashing out of the room.

“I won’t cry, I won’t cry. They aren’t worth my tears, none of it” Stephanie mutter to herself like it was some sort of chant to prevent her tears.

She got to her car and drive away from the hotel. Tears were glistening her eyes but Stephanie wouldn’t let it pour.

She got home in one piece and after parking her car in the garage, she went into the house which has been in the Roger family for years.

Stephanie was heading to her room when someone call her name.

She saw her father striding towards her with her stepmother, Bianca’s birth mother trailing after him.

“Sweetheart, I think you should let her explain” Brenda said to a angry Martin Roger but he wasn’t listening.

As soon as he got to where Stephanie was, he gave her a slap which sent her falling on the floor.

“Martin!” Brenda called, holding onto Martin arm.

“You stupid child. I told you, don’t ever do something that will bring shame to this family and yet you did!” He yell, his voice sounding like thunder itself.

Still holding her cheek, Stephanie stared at her father who toss some pictures on her.

They were pictures of her going into the hospital and leaving it.

“Dad I can explain” she said quickly but he shut her.

“Tell me one thing. Are you pregnant?” Martin Rogers ask and Stephanie gave a nod.

“Who’s the father? Is it that squarmy Bobby you are dating?”

“No” Stephanie said.

“So, you’ve been sleeping around! Do you know how much I had to pay the reporter who followed you today? A hefty sum of money just to buy his silence”

“I told you. Do not do anything that will ruin the reputation your great grandfathers and I have built but you had to…you had to…I really want to hit you again” Martin Roger said, trying to control his anger.

“Am sorry Daddy. I didn’t mean to do this. I know how much our family reputation means to you” Stephanie said, still kneeling on the floor.

“Am glad you know that cause I won’t let a child of mine destroy it. I have book an appointment for you with a doctor friend of mine, he will get rid of that thing in you”

“You want me to abort my child?” Stephanie said, surprised by her father decision.

“It’s either that or you leave my house” he said, giving her an ultimatum.

“I can’t do it dad. We are talking about a living being here, I can’t get rid of it” Stephanie said, hoping her father will understand.

“Good, you’ve made your decision. Now, go to your room, pack your things and leave my house” Martin Rogers said, heading back to his study.

“Martin, don’t be like this. Where do you want her to go?” Brenda said after him but he shut the door on her face.

Brenda walk towards Stephanie, taking hold of her hand.

“I suggest you leave, leave and never come back. I’m sure the father of your child will welcome you. That will be better than getting rid of the child” Brenda said, smiling cruelly.

Stephanie didn’t give her a reply, instead she went to her room and pack few of her things.

She left an hour later, choosing to take a taxi rather than her car.

“Who doesn’t know him. Ashton is the only son of the Maverick family and the Maverick are f**king rich even more than your father” Stella reveal.

“Do you know how I can contact him?”

“Errr…probably at Maverick Limited. He’s currently the CEO of the company but you can check for this info online, why ask me?”

“Cause I….nevermind, thank you, Stella” Stephanie end the call and after getting the address of Maverick Limited, she start the engine and drove off.

At first the receptionist was reluctant to help when she told her about meeting Ashton but Stephanie had to use the only leverage she had against Ashton and in no time, she was led into the elevator by Ashton secretary which whisk them to the seventh floor.

“Mr Maverick is waiting for you” The female secretary said, opening the door for her.

As soon as she walk in, she saw him standing in front of a huge glass window, gazing outside.

“Ashton Maverick” Stephanie called to be sure and that got him turning around. A frown creasing his brow.

“I thought we ended everything that day?” He ask, his voice steady and dangerous.

“We did”

“Then why the hell are you here? You even had the guts to mention that night to the receptionist just so you can see me”

“Am sorry but I had no choice. It’s either that or I have to book an appointment which I don’t want” Stephanie return, wondering why she’s nervous.

“Fine then, what do you want? Money for what happen that night? Fine, how much?” Ashton ask, walking towards his desk to bring out a cheque book.

“I don’t want your money!”

“Really? Isn’t that what whores like you care about?”

“I am not a whore” Stephanie said fiercely.

“But you are. When I first saw you at the party, I thought….nevermind, you turn out to be a whore who was payed to pleasure me for the night” Ashton toss at her.

“What? I wasn’t payed to pleasure you, I have no idea how I got to your room that night but I went there as a guest” Stephanie explain.

“Yeah right! You went as a guest”

“You need to believe me, I did….”

“Enough! Have heard about prostitutes showing up for more money but you…you really are the worst. If you are done, I want you to leave ” he said, turning his back on her.

“Am not done! I came today to tell you that I….am pregnant” Stephanie reveal.

She watch him turn to stare at her, registering the shocked look on his face which suddenly change into contempt and fury.

“That’s it! Have had enough of you, bitch. Get out!” He yell at her.

“I am indeed pregnant. You should know since you are the first”

“I don’t know! All I know is that if you are pregnant then am not the father. I suggest you take yourself and get out of my face!”

A short knock on the door reveal his secretary.

“Am sorry sir but your fiancee is here”

“Take her to the boardroom, I will go see her there” Ashton ordered briskly

“You are engage?” Stephanie ask.

“Yeah, I am and If you don’t want me to wring the life out of you, I suggest you leave before I get back”

“Before you go can I ask you something” Stephanie said.

“What now!”

“On that day. You mention something about me being a birthday gift. What do you mean?”

“A cousin of mine and his friends told me they had payed you to keep me company for the night”

“Among your cousin friends was there a guy called Bobby?” Stephanie ask.

“Yeah. I remember him because he was the one who told me your name, Stephanie Rogers, right?” Ashton ask.

“Right, it’s Stephanie”

“Look, whatever thing is going on with you, I don’t care. All I want is that you get out of this room and my life, I never want to cross path with you again”

“Not even for the sake of the child I am expecting?”

“Not even for it. I suggest you go find the father of that child cause it’s not me and I won’t take a bastard as mine” with that said, he left his office causing Stephanie her first rejection……
