    Edna almost screamed out loud cause she hates seeing blood which will trigger her to shed tears once more remembering the blood incident that made her harderned her mind never to love in her entire life, she stood watching Jack as he approached her direction giving the cops a long distance gap, all the efforts of the cops shouting “freeze “just for Jack to stop was all in vain as he kept running despite the fact that the cops were still shooting on air to prevent him from running futher but he dared not stop since he’s a professional thief.

    Many people screamed seeing him but dare not try to hold him back nor even stop him. Jack finally stopped in front of Edna who’s heart was now racing like a ceiling fan which is rotating Witt high speed, he looked into her eyes and then averted his before hiding just behind her in a botique filled Witt clothes he hid under one of the clothes.

    “Good afternoon ma’am ” one of the police officer greeted Edna was still standing by the roadside.
    “Please have you by any means seen a young man here with a bag running into this direction “? They asked Edna who stood like a motlen image without knowing what to say nor she felt like revealing where Jack is hiding since she hates criminal but the feelings she was having at the moment proved everything useless, she stood watching the cops as if they are speaking foreign languages.

    “Ma’am we’re are talking to you ”
    “Sorry he went that way ” she said pointing to another direction entirety without knowing why.
    “Thank you ma’am ” he murmured and the cops went that way while some people who stood next to her wondered why she decided to hide the thief from the cops instead of showing them where he’s hiding.
    Jack finally came out of his hiding place after the cops had gone their way, he overheard everything that took place and how Edna lied to them.

    Jack came out looking Edna in a eye that explains danger and walked away in pain.
    Edam finally got a taxi and the man drove her to her house which she was staying for the mean time. She got down,paid the taxi man and walked into the building with her shopping bag, just then her phone began ringing, she brought it out looking at the screen and smile before picking the girl.

    “Candy, how are you doing “? Jerry asked on phone while Edna smiled walking to the house
    “Am fine but just tired”
    “I’ll come over to keep you company soon, just don’t be over busy ” Jerry said on phone
    “Okay darling, love you! ”
    “Love you more ” he replied and hang up the call.

    She opened the door to her room, threw the things she bought on the bed and sat down taking off her heels which was now paining her.
    “Oh jeez! What have I gotten myself into “? She murmured scattering her hair remembering how she hid Jack back then from the cops which was not like her, a criminal for that matter.

    “Oh God, help me if am going mad please deliver me “! She said standing up from the bed and walked to the refrigerator, picked a bottle of chilled water and emptied it into her dry throat, she sigh in relief and then walked back to the bed and took off her dress.

    “Don’t tell me you just talk to your darling,this one you are smiling like a dead goat ” Justin teased walking into the office and closed the door from behind. Jerry is Edna’s boyfriend who is managing his father’s company since the both parents are out of the country and he’s staying all alone with his little sister, while Justin is a very good friend of his who likes woman just like he do too.
    “Wetting man go do ” Jerry said in pidgin while he shook hands with Justin and then he sat down, they are known as (James and John) since their name both starts with J.

    “How’s the ministry today “? Justin asked Jerry who smiled
    “Is progressing, how about you? How many have you bang yet for today?
    “You’re not serious, you know the number na for a day as usual ” Justin added as Jerry smiled and sat back on his chair rotating.
    “Man we are going out soon to grab some coffee after which we will be going to my girlfriend’s house for a visit ” Jerry said out like a principal who is addressing one of the stubborn student.

    “That’s why I like you man, you always surprised me. Enh before I forgot, tell her to arrange her room and everything including a girl I’ll chill with when I got there ” Justin said
    “Oh Lord God my father, deliver this your son from the bondage of Satan!! ” Jerry shouted placing his two hands on Justin’s head like a pastor praying for a patient.

    “Man I’m tired of this your madness, I gotta meet up with something, see you later ” Justin said grabbing the door after a handshake with Jerry and then walked out.

    “Hey babe how are you doing? Edna asked on phone while her phone was in between her neck and shoulder while she was peeling onions and the sweetest flavour that filled the room and it made sense in the nostils.
    “I’m fine girl, but I’m tired of searching for jobs everyday, today is the worst ” Lilly complained on phone.
    “Worry not babe, everything will be fine soon ” she said after some random talks on different things she finally hang up the call concerntrating on the chicken she was frying.

    Jack got to the house with pains and almost at the point of dying, he collapsed on the floor with blood all over the place they shot him. The pains were unbearable for him, Jack doesn’t give a damn f***k about anything or anyone, he crawled in the floor since the pains was just too much for him to be walking again, he crawled to where he normally keeps his first aid materials, grabbed it and then open it to reveal the first aid materials starring at him.

    He picked the one he needed just to treat himself, he tore his clothes that was soaked with blood and then set everything in place to treat himself, just as he was about commencing the treatment, a heavy knock sounded on the door, he immediately grabbed his pistol which was on the floor positioned it at the door, the knock came again this time very heavy and mighty as he crawled and hid under the bed and then the door cracked open.

    Everyone were looking through their windows to see the outcome of the situation. just then,they sighted a jeep driving into the village square and it finally stopped. They were all scared because non of them has ever seen a car before due to where their village is located.

    “Mum, you see what I told you? Ekaette questioned her mum. her expression explain it all that they were all scared.
    “Just shut up and let’s see what is going to happen”.
    They waited silently to see what will happen.

    The car door finally opened and Daniel stepped out of the car looking like a charming prince in a pair of tuxedo. He alighted from the car with his friends with him. They scanned the whole environment but found nobody outside.
    “Mom, do you see that? Ekaette said pointing to Daniel’s direction.
    “It was human being ooo”.

    “But how come the rubber have tires and carry, it’s obvious that they are witch oo because a rubber can never carry someone before”.
    Daniel and his team waited for some minutes but found no one outside the village, they looked around when their eyes caught anyone in the window, they will shut the window with full force.

    “Dan, I think they are scared me of us oo”Emma said.
    “You are right, maybe we have to come back some other time “.Dan said
    “We should just try and say something reasonable whether they will come out”Emma said.
    “No need of that let’s go.
    Just as they opened the car door and hop in, Ekaette peeped through the door whole and open the door too. Daniel eyes caught with her own and slam the door back and rested on it.
    Daniel finally zoom off.

    People began coming out from their hiding place thereby making the environment again to be crowded.
    “What was that”?An old woman asked no one in particular because non of them knew the answer to the question.

    “We have to be careful ooo, that thing we saw earlier I think is from the witchcraft ooo. “Ekaette said
    “Shut up your mouth!, have you been to their coffin before? An elderly man rebuked her.

    “It’s better we run for our dear lives ooo. “Ekaette said again.
    Everyone stared at her in a eye that says you are mentally unstable. she sighed and dropped down her head refusing to say anything again.
    “Everybody let’s resume what we were doing “Mr Charles said.
    The whole place became noisy again as they continue doing different things.

    Daniel and his team arrived their company, it was an oil drilling company. Their mission was to go and survey the land whether it will of good use to them. Daniel alighted from the car so as others. The head to the main company and the glass door opened by itself immediately they got near it.

    The company was more like a whole community because of how large and expensive it was.
    Daniel headed to his office, it was boldly written on the door base “SECRETARY OFFICE “.he entered and then locked the door. he began his duty with immediate effect as the memory of the event that took place in the village came back and a smile crossed his lips. he shook his head and continued what he was doing.

    6:00pm…

    Daniel was done in his office and it was to for his departure. he took his briefcase and then locked the door and headed downstairs. he met Sandra coming to his office.
    “You are going soon? Sandra said
    “Yes I have a meeting to attend to “He replied and checked his wrists watch.

    “I only wanted to show you something in your office “She said and smiled seductively
    “Let’s make it some other time Sandra, I’m already late I have to go now. bye! “he waved at her and rushed out of the building.
    Sandra just stood there and watched his retrieving image until he was out of sight. She has been giving Daniel green light to fall for her but he is just too blind to notice it, she shook her but t continuously and then left the staircase.

    The night finally drew near and the stars appear so brightly in the sky making okpunke village to be bright due to the moon rays that gives it’s light.
    Back to starling city where Daniel resides, the whole street was bright because of the present of the street lights. not even one compound was left out without electricity.
    The houses there were big ones with huge gates too.

    Daniel sat outside the house allowing the cool breeze to touch his bare chest. his phone rang and he looked at the screen and discovered that it was Sandra. he ignored the call and continue what he was doing, the call came in again. he silent the phone and drop it back on the table.
    He was done signing the documents needed to be signed, he took his phone and headed to his room.

    The sounds of crickets could be head, even the owl too making noise in the late hour of the night.
    Ekaette was sleeping soundly on the bare floor only, mat alone was seen too on the floor where her parents sleep.

    Physically she was sleeping but at the same time smiling, just as she was smiling the smile finally left her lips.she started saying words like “Leave me alone I’m not coming! she said it continuously and finally wake up panting heavily. the sound of her yell made her parents to wake up too.

    She was sweating at the same time, her mother wondered what could have made her scream like that.
    “What happened? Her mom asked.
    instead of her to reply, she hug her mom so tightly like that was her last day on earth.
    “Mum, I saw myself in the rubber that came to the village earlier today “.

    GOLDEN GATES school was popularly known to be the school for the rich and it was only rich kids that attended the school but how Melody ended up schooling there was a story left to be told another day.

    Melody is brown skin girl, with a long dark hair and she’s a bit tall with a gap teeth, she could be easily seen entering the huge compound of “GOLDEN GATES “high school.

    A mere looking at her you will surely conclude that she’s new in the environment.

    She pushed the gate open and then step inside the building stairing at the tall storey building not knowing where to enter.
    Even the security man wondered what she was doing there because of how she entered and ever since he started working there as the security no kid that schooled there will walk on his or her bare foot to the school compound, but here is a different story of a girl who looked stranded into the school compound.

    Melody was confused not knowing where to enter nor who to ask whether she’s in the right place, we push the gate open again and looked at the huge bill board to be sure that she’s in the right place, and it was boldly written on it “GOLDEN GATES HIGH SCHOOL “.

    Luckily for her, the school bell rang signalling for the morning devotion which made students rush out of their classes to the school chaplain thus giving her the opportunity to know where exactly she should go.

    #7:45 am.

    The school morning devotion was still on when melody walked into the hall and her shoe make noise which gained everyone attention to where she was.

    She was nearly dressed with the school uniform, green skirt, white shirt and green beret with a long green socks.

    Her dress was nearly ironed as the two lines appeared visible to everyone that had eyes, she stopped walking and then joined a queue not knowing which class she’s standing.

    The devotion was finally brought to a close as the principal dismissed the students with a brief announcement and then looked at melody….

    looked at melody and then immediately recognized who she was.

    “I guess you are Melody right? he said pointing at her which made everyone to look at the new girl.

    “Yes sir I am” she replied

    “Good, follow me to my office immediately after this, the rest of you should go to your different classes “he said and everyone left except Melody who followed him to his office.

    The clouds turn dark instantly showing that there’s going to be a big showers of blessing from the atmosphere thereby telling all the sensible human beings present on the road to find their way back home.

    suddenly it started raining so heavily that even not a single car was found on the road driving.

    Melody father could be seen rushing up and down, placing buckets in the places that had a leakage on the zinc.
    some places were left over as there were no more buckets to be placed, the water started flooding the house as Melody father tried his best to stop it from overflowing it’s bank by using a small broom to sweep it but it was of no use as the water kept increasing each second.

    Melody’s mother was really soaked by the rain on the road as she was busy trying her best to gather for the family in her small business of orange selling.
    The rain had successfully did it’s best by soaking melody’s mother.

    Truly Melody’s family was really poor to the extent they can’t even be compared to others.
