    Police Operatives From Abuja Storm Benin City Again, As PDP Supporters Decry Intimidation

     

    Concerns have been raised in Benin City as plain-clothed police operatives from Abuja have stormed the Edo state capital to intimidate Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters as the governorship election approaches.

    According to several sources, a contingent of police officers arrived in the state capital on Tuesday, August 13 under the guise of undercover operations.

    The operatives are engaging in actions designed to intimidate PDP supporters, sympathizers, and leaders and create an atmosphere of fear and hostility ahead of the election.

    “This is anti-democratic. They want to make the state hostile for us so we won’t be available during the elections. We are deeply concerned about these developments,” one of the PDP supporters told journalists in Benin.

    The recent influx of police operatives from Abuja has raised alarm among political observers and the public.

    Allegations have surfaced suggesting that the police actions are not neutral but rather part of a scheme to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election.

    The timing and nature of the police activities have led to suspicions that some high-ranking officials might be involved in manipulating the police to further their political agenda.

    Notably, fingers are pointing towards Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State now representing Edo North in the Senate, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Both are alleged to be influential figures in the ongoing political maneuvering.

    The PDP has condemned the reported intimidation efforts and called for immediate intervention to ensure a free and fair election.

     

    “The involvement of police operatives in what appears to be a politically motivated campaign is deeply troubling.

     

    “We demand transparency and accountability from the authorities and expect them to uphold the principles of democracy,” a PDP chieftain said.

    The sixth Aniversery of High Chief Ayiri Emami in the Warri Kingdom has been met with several developmental strides and has placed the kingdom on the map as a hub for commerce, tourism and culture.

    The celebrations started since sunday as service was held in honour of High Chief Ayiri Emami in the kingdom’s central church before a grand reception was held in his honour. The Ologbotsere was adorned in rich cultural regalia as he danced majestically to the delight of the massive crowd that gathered to honour him.

    Speaking on the importance of the ceremony, the spokesperson to the Ologbotsere, Chief Sam Omatseye, stated that the celebrations were a way of not just honouring High Chief Ayiri Emami, but also to showcase the rich culture and tradition of the Warri people to all Nigerians and the world.

    High Chief Ayiri Emami’s humanity and popularity has seen the development of many projects such as the Warri Business District, the Warri Apprentice programme, and the Warri Food and Cultural festival, amongst others.

    His efforts have impacted positively on the socio-economic development of Warri Kingdom.

    The celebrations also attracted the presence of notable dignitaries and senior traditional rulers within and outside the state and several others.

    Renowned Nigerian pastor, Apostle Johnson Suleman has offered succour to a widow and her children to start their life all over after dramatic events turned them helpless.

    In a show of compassion and selflessness, the woman and her children who wouldn’t stop crying had caught the attention of the cleric.

    The late husband had a pending divorce case with the woman and just before his death came into the house and removed every property,  leaving the woman with nothing to take care of their six children. 

    Crying profusely along with her children during a church service at the pastor’s Auchi based worshipercentrer in a video posted online, the woman said a simple misunderstanding had led the husband to file for divorce.

    But while the case was still ongoing, the man came and emptied the house, leaving her and her children.

    “Do not kneel down,” the Apostle had instructed as the woman attempted to go on her knees weeping profusely.

    Seeing that the woman was not ready to stop crying, the cleric asked the first daughter to narrate the situation. 

    The daughter equally started crying as she stated that things had gone south for her mother and the rest of her siblings after the father moved away from the house with everything they had, only to die shortly after.

    “When you have an issue with your wife try to settle it without letting it affect your children,” Suleman told his congregation before asking the woman if she has any skill.

    “I can cook. I am a chef,” the woman replied before the cleric offered a business capital of N3 million.

    The touching gesture, which has been widely praised on social media, is a reminder of the Christian principle of helping those in need and extending a helping hand to the less fortunate.

    Apostle Johnson Suleman’s commitment to supporting widows and those in need is testament to his Christian beliefs, and his act of kindness has touched the hearts of many.
