    Police Operatives From Abuja Storm Benin City Again, As PDP Supporters Decry Intimidation

     

    Concerns have been raised in Benin City as plain-clothed police operatives from Abuja have stormed the Edo state capital to intimidate Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters as the governorship election approaches.

    According to several sources, a contingent of police officers arrived in the state capital on Tuesday, August 13 under the guise of undercover operations.

    The operatives are engaging in actions designed to intimidate PDP supporters, sympathizers, and leaders and create an atmosphere of fear and hostility ahead of the election.

    “This is anti-democratic. They want to make the state hostile for us so we won’t be available during the elections. We are deeply concerned about these developments,” one of the PDP supporters told journalists in Benin.

    The recent influx of police operatives from Abuja has raised alarm among political observers and the public.

    Allegations have surfaced suggesting that the police actions are not neutral but rather part of a scheme to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election.

    The timing and nature of the police activities have led to suspicions that some high-ranking officials might be involved in manipulating the police to further their political agenda.

    Notably, fingers are pointing towards Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State now representing Edo North in the Senate, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Both are alleged to be influential figures in the ongoing political maneuvering.

    Critics argue that these actions undermine the democratic process and cast a shadow over the integrity of the upcoming election.

     

    The PDP has condemned the reported intimidation efforts and called for immediate intervention to ensure a free and fair election.

     

    “The involvement of police operatives in what appears to be a politically motivated campaign is deeply troubling.

     

    “We demand transparency and accountability from the authorities and expect them to uphold the principles of democracy,” a PDP chieftain said.

    As election day approaches, the tension in Edo State continues to escalate, especially with the presence of the undercover police operatives.

    Yesufu Family Accuses Police Of Failing To Prosecute Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu, Abuja Notorious Land Grabber

    Investigation Uncovers IGP’s Alleged Involvement in Abuja Land Grab Scandal.

    A recent investigation has exposed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as being complicit in a disputed land grab case in the Guzape area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city and maybe protecting the main perpetrators who appear to be his close allies and business associates.

    According to a petition filed on August 18, 2023, by the Yesufu family and Alhaja Colleen Yesufu, the complainants received a suspicious phone call regarding the purported sale of flats on their property in Guzape District. The caller claimed that the developer had shown them a Right of Occupancy and Power of Attorney, allegedly signed by Colleen Mero Yesufu, and that the information was obtained from documents uploaded on the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) website.

    Upon further investigation, the Yesufu family discovered that unknown individuals had illegally trespassed on their property and were carrying out aggressive development, offering the same at the carcass stage to unsuspecting buyers. The family also found that their property file at AGIS had been fraudulently altered, with a forged Power of Attorney and other fake documents uploaded in favour of one Rebecce Omokamo Godwin Isaac.

    The Yesufu family’s inquiries at the Development Control Department further revealed that the criminal syndicate had used the forged documents uploaded to the AGIS system to fraudulently apply for and obtain a Building Plan Approval in March 2023, without the consent or authority of the Yesufu family. They also discovered that this same lady is behind four (4) other similar fraudulently developed properties on plots all within the Guzape District with forged title documents targeting mainly aged and elderly citizen with undeveloped plots, who they believed to be too old to fight, or possibly dead.

    Notably, the Yesufu family confirmed that they had never put their property up for sale, nor had they begun developing it or contracted any purported developer. They remain in physical custody of the original Statutory Right of Occupancy, Power of Attorney, and all relevant documents.

    Despite reporting the incident to AGIS and the Development Control Department, the Yesufu family expressed limited confidence in the investigation and outcome, as they suspected that the “egregious infractions – now a norm in the FCT could not have occurred without the active connivance of some staff or officials within these FCTA agencies”. This turned out to be true because despite the purported “Withdrawal of the fradulently acquired Building Plan Approval,” she continued to build without any approval.

    An investigations report carried out by the Director of Investigations & Prosecutions of the FCTA General Counsel’s Office in respect of Plot No 4022, Guzape District Cadastral Zone AO9, which was recommended demolishing the fradulent structure, subsequently approved by the FCT Minister in January 2024 for full implementation, was sighted by our correspondent. It revealed that In order to have a holistic approach of the facts in issue, a meeting was held on the 12th of September 2023, with Representatives from Department of Development Control, Lands Administration and the Solicitor to the Yesufu family, while the alleged Developer one Rebecca Omokamo Godwin Isaac aka Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu and her company Homadil Realty (a 24 month old entity with Billions of Naira worth of developments across the FCT) was absent from the meeting and subsequent meetings.

    According to records from the Lands Department, the Plot No 1802 was initially allocated to one Amina Musa Usman of No 19 Sabon Gari Jega Kebbi State, measuring approximately 2221.48sqm at Cadastral Zone A09 Guzape District, covered by Offer of Statutory Right of Occupancy (R of O) dated 18/8/2009 and was duly

    accepted on the 14/08/2009.

    The plot was later redesignated as Plot No. 4022 due to a boundary adjustment and a Right of Occupancy for Plot No. 4022 duly issued to one Mrs. Colleen Mero Yesufu, who presented a Power of Attorney (POA), purportedly signed by Amina Musa Usman, the original allotee with requisite affidavits and guarantees provided.

    Surprisingly, another Power of Attorney (POA) in favour of Rebecca Omokamo Godwin Isaac was also listed on the AGIS system with little corresponding documentary evidence. However, further investigation revealed that this second POA was fake and fradulently captured in the system and could not be verified, as it was registered under a different plot in favour of an Imurat International Limited as far back as 2011.

    The representative from the Lands Department confirmed that Amina Musa Usman’s original allocation is still subsisting and has not been revoked, and the land has not been officially allocated to any other party.

    The report concluded that the Development Control should seal the property pending demolition, and the Police be invited to identify the belligerent FCTA staff involved in this violation of the AGIS system.

    Incredibly, after the FCT Commissioner of Police at the time ordered the arrest of the trespassers and sealing of the disputed land in line with request of the FCTA Investigations & Prosecutions Directors recommendations on the 17th of November 2023, they were all released within 30mins on the orders of the IGP with no explanation or investigation conducted, whatsoever to date. Most importantly, the brazen and illegal development of this property now without any building approval continued with the clear backing of the IGP.

    The Yesufu family, represented by their lawyers, Falana & Falana Chambers, filed several petitions against this Rebecca Omokamo (also known as Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu) and her company Homadil Reality Limited, who is allegedly a very close confidant and business ally of Mr

    Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP). Despite several petitions to the IGP’s office, the IGP and police refused to act, prompting the family to petition the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

    The EFCC commenced an extensive investigation and appears to have unravelled the mystery behind the notorious land grabbers, their modus operandi and accomplices in the various FCTA departments, but the prime suspect, Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu aka Rebecca Omokamo, has consistently refused to honour the anti-graft agency’s invitation. The EFCC subsequently sealed the property in April 2024 but In a desperate attempt to evade the investigation, Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu and her husband and business partner along side their Multi-billion Naira Homadil Reaty Limited filed a fundamental rights enforcement action against the EFCC, seeking to restrain the agency from inviting her for questioning.

    In their documents filed in court, they claimed to have acquired the Guzape disputed land sometime in 2015, when the couple were still unmarried and barely able to afford a wedding they struggled to undertake from available records.

    However, the court ruled that she must submit herself for investigation before the EFCC. Despite the court judgement, she continued to remain in hiding and avoided going to defend her newfound wealthy lifestyle before the EFCC. The worst part of this act of criminality and lawlessness is the developer backed by the Police wiped off all the EFCC markings and has continued to build with absolute impunity and complete disregards for the FCTA, the Courts, the EFCC all because she is an ally and close associate of the IGP.

    The investigations also revealed that Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu has been using the men and officers of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the IGP’s office in Abuja to harass and intimidate the Yesufu family and their associates.

    Furthermore, a journalist from Premium Times who attempted to investigate the matter despite not publishing any story was invited by the police for questioning for daring to call the IGP’s confidant/associate Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu, to hear her side of the story.

    The Yesufu family have expressed their bewilderment at how an individual can allegedly use the instrumentality of the state funded by tax payers money to harass and intimidate other law abiding citizens, even when the available facts point to their involvement in an obvious fraudulent property scheme.

    Efforts to reach Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu, aka Rebecca Omokamo, and the office of IGP for comments were unsuccessful at the time of fili ng this report.

    We graduated on the 18th September and it was celebration galore. I went back to Abuja to my parents to await my NYSC posting while Sally decided to stay back in Kano because she was offered a teaching job in one of the best private schools in Kano. It was the custom of the school to seek for the best graduating students in the University to offer a job with tempting pay. Sally though wasn’t the best student in our department but she was one of the best, she was preferred because she is from the north and could speak Hausa very well. She worked with the school for seven months when our posting came. The school owner has solid influence in the University and could influence Sally’s posting.

    Sally was posted to Kano after the school proprietor had pressed his buttons. You can’t imagine how much a private school was paying Sally, a semi graduate. We later learnt the school proprietor could spend fortune on his English and Mathematics teachers. When I came to collect my result, I spent three days with Sally in her one room self-contained apartment. Her lifestyle was now more terrible than when we were in school.

    I was posted to Lokoja for my Youth service. By that time, Daniel was already engaged with a girl he impregnated. I was disappointed but he explained everything to me and apologized for betraying me. His mother wanted him to marry the girl instead of waiting for me to complete my education. Unfortunately, we had two strikes that extended our stay in school beyond four years.

    He tried to resist the girl but his mother connived with the girl and played smart on him. I was sorry for him because I know he’s not the tough type. That was the end of my journey with Daniel. It was a bit painful because I had turned down all proposals from all the guys I met in school because of Daniel. I moved on with my life as I reported to Lokoja for my Youth service program.

    At Lokoja, I met an Ebira guy, Omeiza by name.
    He was just the perfect guy I could have something serious with. He works with Kogi State ministry of finance, a Christian per excellence. He lived in a well furnished two bedroom apartment and he was relatively comfortable. His salary was not much but he was from a royal family and his father willed some of his properties in and outside Lokoja to him before he died. He had just two brothers, one lived in the US while the other is an officer in the Nigerian Army. I met Omeiza through a friend in our church. I called her my friend because we were both in the church choir together.

    Omeiza did not let me feel the vacuum created by Daniel. He was all over me all through my service year in Lokoja. ‘Maryam, you will be completing your service in a month’s time, I will like you to take me to your parents next week. I have also concluded arrangements to take you to my people this weekend,’ he said. I was perplexed, I had never introduced anyone to my parents as my man, how will I do this? What will I tell Mrs Ladidi, the iron lady? I began to rehearse how I will tell my mom that I now had a fiance.

    I called Sally to advice me on how to present it to my parents that I was bringing my boyfriend to the house when she broke the news to me.
    ‘Maryam my wedding will be coming up in July and you’re gonna be my chief bride maid.’
    July 4th was our proposed date with Omeiza but I didn’t bother to tell her on phone. I was happy for my friend that she will be settling down at last. We talked at length about the guy, the wedding and lots more. Immediately she dropped the call I remembered all the abortions Sally had done, would she be able to get pregnant again especially with the last experience? I really feared for her. I told Omeiza about Sally and her wedding plans, so we shifted ours to a further date in September in order to provide the needed support for my friend’s wedding.

    After the lecture from Sally on how to present my boyfriend to my parents, I called my mom and repeated almost word to word everything Sally told me to my mom with a shaky voice. Sincerely I was shocked at my mom’s response, I was expecting a shout like usual but this time it was different. The salutation was different, her voice was cooler, her words of praises gave me confidence that I was doing the right thing. This was the first time I had the guts to talk to my mom about a man. I was expecting her to say “make sure he doesn’t touch you” or “you must not allow him see your p-nt” as usual but I was disappointed. She was happy and promised to tell my dad about our proposed visit.

    We first traveled to Okene to see his family. Their house was big, what do you expect from a royal family? Everyone accepted me, his aged mother made me sit on her laps like a baby, wow I felt like a princess for the two days we stayed in Okene. It was like we already married, his people were lovely and hospitable. We all went to church on Sunday in the family Sienna car, his mother, two cousin sisters and myself sitting in front of the car with Omeiza like the queen of Ohinohi, hahaha. We left Okene very early in the morning on Monday to report directly to our places of work. Okene to Lokoja was less than an hour drive. When we arrived Lokoja I was thinking of how we will pass the night in my house, our house in Abuja isn’t as big as Omeiza’s house in Okene where I had a wh0le big room to myself. The thought of how to pass the night in Abuja with Omeiza became my major problem.

    We left for Abuja on Friday afternoon. On arrival my mom was all over him, ‘my son that, my son this.’ She barely had time for me. He was led to the dinning table and my mom served my boyfriend a sumptuous meal, this is unbelievable.
    Mrs Ladidi had changed. I couldn’t comprehend her sudden change for quite a while. Immediately after the dinner, I began to think about where to sleep.
    My mom had everything planned out
    without me knowing. She had asked my sisters to moved their things temporarily to her room, the same room she shared with my dad. Maryam, let my son go and rest as she pointed to the other room, of course there are only two rooms.

    The second room was our room but the arrangement was amazing this time. The two of us were to use the room while my two sisters use the sitting room.
    How can my mom trust me and a man in,side a room all the night after all her teachings?
    I was not comfortable with the arrangement so I led Omeiza to the room and joined my sisters at the sitting room. She came out at about 10:30pm and saw me at the sitting room with my sisters and almost got angry, you left only him in the room? She asked angrily. I couldn’t say a word but quickly joined him in the room.

    I had to take two weeks break from work to be with Sally for her wedding preparations. We planned and executed every bit of her wedding decisions together. The wedding was okay because Sally’s husband worked with an oil company in Porthacourt; and with a fat salary, they could afford everything they wanted for the wedding. He had come for a two-week official assignment in Kano where he met with Sally. I felt for him considering the past life of my friend.
    Will she be able to give him a child at all? This was my thought all through the wedding. The wedding ended and I took off on Monday morning back to Lokoja.

    My wedding was in a month’s time, and I needed to put myself together so that I can be strong enough to go through the stress. I was shocked to my bones when Sally told me she won’t be coming for my wedding. ‘Why won’t you attend my wedding after all I went through to make yours a success?’ I protested.
    How can she be absent at my wedding? ‘No way, Sally I know you are joking,’ I said, laughing over the phone. ‘Maryam you won’t understand.’ she said. ‘On my wedding day, I was already two months pregnant and the doctor had advised me not to engage in strenuous activities in my first trimester.’ ‘Sally, you are what?’ I asked in surprise. It was a mixed feelings for me, I was happy she was pregnant and also unhappy she won’t make it to my wedding.

    But how could she be pregnant? after the last abortion the doctor told her that her chances of getting pregnant within the next five years is less than 7%. I would have ascribed this to a miracle but Sally was the least to enjoy God’s grace. I was happy for her, my fears had been taken away. But many questions ran through my mind; does God show mercy on unrepentant persons?
    To the best of knowledge, Sally is still a chronic sinner. Three of her boyfriends still sent her money while I was with her in the build up to her wedding. I was aware she still went to see Alhaji Ado in his hotel room four days to her wedding. I concluded, “His ways are not our ways” and left the matter at that.
    I began to plan for my own wedding as the day drew near. Sally and her husband sent me N300,000 to support my wedding plans. Three days to the D day I became feverish for thoughts and fears of sleeping with a man for the first time. I was told the first experience is not always funny especially at my age. I became so weak that I was taken to the hospital where I was given two drips before I was discharged.

    Everything went well, my mom was proud of me marrying at 29 as a V-rgin. My mom had taught me everything I needed to
    know and do as a new bride. On our first night together as husband and wife, my husband could not believe I was still a V-rgin when he couldn’t
    penetrate me. I had never told him I was a V-rgin either. After much struggle without success, he took a break and went downstairs as if he was
    going to buy something but I saw him making a call. He must have called a friend to narrate his experience. He came back after about 30 minutes
    with smile all over his face. Maryam, you are still a V-rgin? I smiled, I was proud of myself and my mom. My dream to give my V-rginity to my husband had finally come to reality. This time he knew what to do, he must have been taught from the phone conversation he had. That night he made a lot of promises to me including buying me a car. Been with Omeiza for one week without interruption from work and families was the best
    thing that ever happened to me. We gisted, played games, watched movies, ate and slept all through the week. We could go a wh0le day without seeing the sun, it was fun, fun and more fun. I knew I won’t escape been pregnant after a two week continuous s€×ual intercourse. One
    month after I started feeling funny in my body, of course I needed no laboratory test to know what was going on in my system. I was so weak that my husband will have to close on time from work to help me do some house chores. ‘You need to
    see the doctor,’ Omeiza pleaded. ‘I will see the doctor at the right time, I will be fine,’ I assured him.
