Like flash he began running towards Lucia then immediately swirled her around, engulfing her into a protective hug
The gunshot was fired
Luckily Kingsley hugged Lucia before dragging her out of the targeted area. The bullet took the wall.
Kingsley stayed like that, hugging Lucia for some while before he released her and looked back. The person was gone.
His hands palmed her cheek and he scanned through her body with a worried and scared look on his face
“Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?” He asked, checking her out.
Lucia’s eyes still remained so wide like she was in a daze. “What… What just happened?” She stuttered, even her body was shaking due to the sudden action.
“The importance is that you’re fine” He said and held her by the shoulder.
“Come let’s go” He said and with that, he led her to his car.

“That’s all for today’s lesson.” Finley said and looked at Quinn.
She nodded as if she understood what he just thought her but it was clear she understood nothing. Her cheeks were still blush red and she looked like she’s still in a daze.
Finley sighed. Maybe it was a bad idea kissing her, he certainly doesn’t want to to be the reason for her academic failure.
“Quinn..” Quinn’s heart fluttered when Finley called her name. She looked at him, battling her lashes.
“I’m sorry… For kissing you” Finley said and Quinn frowned.
Why must he always apologize for every little thing he does, like it was a sin to kiss her.
“Why are you apologizing? Didn’t you like it?” Quinn asked.
“It’s not it, just that-”
“Then stop apologizing, it’s.. It’s annoying. Besides you promised you’ll treat me as a lady” Quinn pouted.
“Okay” Finley smiled lightly and Quinn smiled back
“I need to go now, it’s getting late” Finley said and she nodded.
He packed his things and stood up then faced her
“Goodbye” He smiled and Quinn nodded, glancing at his lips.
Her shoulder fell in disappointment when Finley turned and began walking away but he suddenly stopped and turned back.
He pulled her to his arms and pressed his lips on her forehead before pecking her lips.
“Bye” He brushed his hands against his cheeks before walking away.
Quinn touched her lips, blushing so hard.

<KINGSLEY’S CONDO>
“Make sure you investigate anyone who’s wearing black and looks suspicious. I want that shooter found before tomorrow night” Kingsley spoke on the phone
“Yes Sir”
Kingsley hung up and kept his phone. He fetched water in a glass and walked back to the living room where Lucia was sitting
She looked lost, several thoughts were running in her mind
“Lucia” He called and she flinched but calmed down when she saw it was Kingsley.
“Here” He handed the glass of water to her before sitting in front of her.
“Thank you for saving me. If you were a second late then I could have been..”
“Don’t think about it” Kingsley cut her off.
“I have a spare room in here, you can stay in here, it’ll be more dangerous if you leave at this time especially when the culprit hasn’t yet been caught.” Kingsley said
“Thanks” Lucia replied.
“Just wait here, lemme make something quick for dinner” Kingsley said
“I’ll join you” Lucia stood up and followed him
In few minutes they were both in the kitchen, cooking.
“Didn’t know you could cook?” Lucia said, looking surprised when she saw Kingsley manoeuvring the kitchen utensils like a pro
Kingsley chuckled. “I lived practically my whole life being independent. You don’t expect me not to know how to cook” Kingsley said
Lucia suddenly began feeling bad. It must be hard growing up without a mom, well not like her case is any different.
“Umm don’t you miss your mom?” Lucia asked.
Kingsley stared into space for awhile, Lucia could see sadness flash in his eyes but it was for some seconds coz he smiled afterwards.
“Yeah, but that won’t change anything right?” Kingsley smiled at her before he continued slicing the onions.
Lucia took in her lips. “Well during days that you feel alone, you can look up at the brightest star in the sky and imagine her looking over you, telling you to be a brave and good boy” Lucia said.
Kingsley abruptly stopped slicing the onions and his gaze swiftly went to her, staring at her with a shocked look on his face.
“Are you sure we’ve never met before?” Kingsley asked and Lucia furrowed ber brows.
“No, why ask?” Lucia said.
“You remind me so much of someone. Someone I met when I was a kid was it 7 or 8? Well it is as just a day before I went to continue my life at the state” Kingsley said smiling fondly.
“Back then I use to pick on and bully some people. I just felt that life was so unfair to me by taking away my mom while they had theirs so I was kinda envious. I picked on kids who badly beat me up and while I was walking back home with bruises all over I came across a girl. She didn’t know me but she was ready to treat my bruises” Kingsley said
Lucia swallowed hard as she stared at him.
“She was the kindest girl I’ve ever met. She said the exact words of what you just told me, to be a good boy because my mother was watching over me and that my mom won’t be happy if I was to be a bad boy. Ever since then I changed, I began hating bullies so much and always protected those who were bullied. She even gave me this locket I always have on” Kingsley said, looking at the necklace round his neck.
Lucia just stared at him with wide eyes. He’s the one… He’s the grumpy blonde kid she once met when she was young.
“She was abit chubby but honestly to me, she was the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen. It’s so sad I couldn’t meet her again. I think she’s the first girl I’ve ever had a crush on” Kingsley smiled and looked at Lucia who looked at him with a look he couldn’t understand.
“Don’t worry, it’s just a crush okay? I’m all yours if you want to have me” Kingsley leaned to her ear and whispered.
“Stop that!” Lucia pushed him off and he chuckled before he faced his work.
Lucia stared at him then slowly smiled. To think that someone like Kingsley once had a crush on her chubby self was somewhat pleasing.
She stared at him for awhile before facing the tomatoes she was slicing.
“I love you”
Lucia immediately looked back at him with wide eyes. Is she starting to hear things now?
Kingsley looked up at her. “I love you, a lot” Kingsley said.
Kingsley smiled and cupped her cheek.
“Even if you love that other guy, it still won’t change anything to me. I’ll continue loving you and I’ll keep protecting you as much as I can, even with my life if I have to” Kingsley said.
They both began staring at each other for awhile before before Kingsley smiled and pinched her nose.
“Little brat” He muttered before facing back what he was doing.
Lucia looked away, hiding the blush that crept up her cheek. Her heart was also racing a marathon at the moment.
