Zoey’s Pov:

I returned to the office with Axel and made him sit at the reception in front of me while I resumed my duties and throughout the whole time, I couldn’t stop thinking about mum.

Her words kept replaying in my head and kinda pierced my heart, but recalling what she did – it only stirred up the anger.

On many occasions, I felt like crying but tried all I could to fight back the tears and focus on my duties.

After few more hours, the time finally elapsed and I felt so relieved knowing I’d soon be home.

I decided to inform Zach I was leaving and met him making a call in his office. But thankfully, he rounded it up when I got in.

“Good evening, sir”, I said with my hands clasped together.

“Zoey! What’s up?” He asked with beaming smiles.

“I’m fine, sir. Thanks. I uh…just wanted to inform you I was about leaving”.

“Oh! Is that so?”

“Yes. And I…”

I paused and drew closer.

“I actually need a favor from you, sir. Please, I don’t know if it’ll be possible”.

“Please, go on. Go on. Feel free” he prodded me and I cleared my throat and began.

“Actually…my son’s fees needs to be cleared in school, but I’m totally cashless. So, I was wondering if it’d be possible to get paid in advance, sir” I stated nervously and for a moment, he was speechless.

“Is that all?” He asked and I nodded slowly, being a little confused.

“Zoey” he called with a sigh.
“If you’re having issues like this, you should feel free to tell me, please. Anyway, don’t worry about it. The money will be transferred to you soon” he replied and my eyes beamed.

“I have your account details with me and will transfer the money in a few hours”.he added.

“Okay. Thank you so much, sir. I really appreciate. Thanks a lot” I thanked him repeatedly, feeling so elatedly.
He didn’t even ask for the amount.

“Come on, Zoey. That’s enough. Its okay.

“Um….have you thought about my proposal? The dinner?” He suddenly asked and I froze.

For a moment, I was silent and thought about it.

I couldn’t say no, could I? Maybe…it should be my own way of appreciating him for his help.

After all, its just dinner.

“Um…okay sir. I’ll be there” I told him and his face crinkled up in smiles.

“Okay, Zoey. I’ll text you the time and location. Thanks”.

“Alright. Bye”.

And I turned around and left.

“Yes!!” I exclaimed and hit the table as soon as she left the office.

Wohoo!
I knew she was gonna agree to it. I f**king knew it was gonna work out.

I reached for my phone and texted the dude’s line.

I reminded him and smiled afterwards.

As soon as I got home with Axel, I set out to make some food for him and while in the process, my phone beeped with an alert.

I quickly checked and discovered it was a credit alert.

Zach’s sent the money already!

Oh! Good lord!!

I beamed with smiles as I read the message.

“Mum, what’s wrong?” Axel who was in the kitchen with me asked and I laughed and played with his hair.

“Your fees will finally be settled tomorrow, son! You won’t have a thing to worry about anymore” I said happily and his eyes sparkled.

“Wow! Are you serious, mum?” He asked.

“Yes – of course!”

I twirled around and kept the phone on the table.

Oh!!! Thank goodness.

I was beginning to get hypertensive already.

And I can’t believe he sent me double of the money I needed.

Geez! I couldn’t wait to meet up with him and thank him!

I covered my face with my palms like I was blushing.

Awwn! It was damn shocking.

I heaved a huge sigh of relief, trying to gulp down the happiness. And after a while, I resumed cooking.

Mum, are you going out?” Axel asked as I stood in front of the mirror, applying a little make up.

I was already putting on my long red gown and blue heels and I expected him to suspect I was going out.

“Yes, son. But I’ll be back before you know it” I replied him, still looking into the mirror.
“Is it with him? Your boss?” He asked and I quickly turned to look at him.

How the hell did he guess so well?

“Um…yes” I replied with a nod and his eyes drooped.

Huh? What is wrong with him?

“Is there something wrong?” I asked as he bent his head.

“I don’t know. Do you really have to go out with him?” He asked, making me stunned.

“Of…of course, Axel. Hold on; why don’t you like him?” I asked and he shrugged.

“You’re free to have your fun” he replied and left the room and I stared at the shirt door for sometime.

Geez! What’s wrong with him?

I placed my hand on the table and sighed. This kid is just something else.

I resumed with my make up and not long after, i heard the door bell ring.

Huh? Who could it be?

“Axel?” I called, wondering if he was the one playing with the bell or something.

I didn’t get any response from him and immediately, I stood up and left to check it out.

I rushed to the sitting room, being careful with my steps as a result of the heels I was putting on.

And on reaching there, I found the door open with Axel standing in front of it.

“Axel?” I called and drew close and the opened door revealed someone from outside.

“Mum??” I called in shock.

What the….??

Immediately, someone else showed up behind her, a guy with a killer look.

He appeared so calm as he stood with a hand inserted his trouser pocket and my phone fell from my hand to the floor.

At first, it felt like a dream. I could feel the time and wind stand still as he stared into my eyes.

Oh my God!!

This is a dream.

“Zosar?” I called in a faint voice, my eyes dilating.
