It is difficult to imagine that Princess never for a day suspected that her husband was cheating. She had trusted him with all her heart. She loves him so dearly. There was no reason to suspect his movements because he paid meticulous attention to her and had always showered her with so much love. Despite the fact that she was yet to conceive, Chief Egbe never allowed this to spoil their adventurous love life that has lasted many years.
In fact, many people advised him to marry a second wife who would bear him children but he had always rebuked them harshly. He told everyone who cared to listen that he dearly loves his wife and there was no need for a second wife.
Many of his numerous properties were bought in his wife’s name. He pampers and honours her like a queen. It was therefore very shocking to Princess when Eleks, the private investigator revealed to her that her husband was a popular patron of a hotel where Amaka worked. The story sounded terrible to her hearing.
She considered her husband an honourable man who would never stoop so low to sleep with side chicks, not to talk of sleeping with a cleaner at a hotel. Despite the fact staring her in the face, she still believed that there could be a mistake somewhere. She therefore decided to calm down and not to confront her husband just yet.
“I want you to dig deeper. I wanted to confront my husband last night but I couldn’t do it. I felt there could be a mistake somewhere. I so much trust this man. He has never given me any reason to disbelieve his words. He gives me love and the kind of life I dreamt of having. What could have possibly made him to sleep with a cleaner? Am I no longer beautiful?” Princess asked rhetorically.
She was holding a second meeting with Eleks, the private investigator. They were sitting at their usual spot at Sheri Hotel and Eleks was holding a glass cup containing Champaign while Princess was sipping from a cup of Chapman. Just like the first day of their meeting, she was there alone without her driver.
“The problem I have with many of my clients is that they trust people a lot. We often don’t know that those we love are in the position to hurt us the most. I have more information already and you will be shocked when I’m done with this case.”
Eleks remarked. He gulped the remaining wine in his glass cup and ordered for more. The waitress at the hotel arrived with an entire bottle and placed it on the table for him. The way Eleks drinks made Princess to wonder if Champaign gave him inspiration.
“What else have you discovered? Do you have a more concrete evidence to prove that my husband actually slept with a hotel cleaner called Amaka? What else have you found?” Princess asked. Her heart was pounding fast and she could even hear the sound. She leaned forward and sharpened her ears like a dog trying to track the direction of a grass cutter.
“I have hacked your husband’s WhatsApp account and I discovered that he has never chatted with Amaka. Your husband keeps up to seven side chicks, but strangely, Amaka is not one of them. They have never communicated at least on phone before she showed up at your house.” Eleks said. He poured some wine for himself and as usual, gulped everything at once. Princess was so sad when she heard that her husband was keeping multiple side chicks. More facts were beginning to emerge and they were bitter truths.
“So if my husband never had a relationship with Amaka, why is she claiming to be pregnant for him?” Princess wondered aloud. Eleks asked her to calm down since he was still talking.
“I also hacked Amaka’s WhatsApp account and I made a shocking discovery. In one of the conversations she had with a friend named Nkechi, she told her that she was planning to get pregnant for Chief Egbe, your husband. But she did not go into details. But today, I’m going to find out how she finally got pregnant for your husband.
I’m going to obtain the CCTV recordings at Atraka Hotels and I will find out exactly what happened. I will find out those your husband interacted with at the hotel and the manner of interaction. I will have all the answers you seek tomorrow. By tomorrow, you will know all of your husband’s side chicks. Just sharpen your ears and wait.” Eleks said.
“I can’t wait to hear every details of this. I feel so terrible and I need to get back home and rest my head. I’m mentally drained right now. The unfortunate thing is that my house has become very unfriendly. There is a stranger in my house trying to take my husband away from me and she is succeeding. Please, help me and unravel this mystery before it is too late.” Princess was crying as she stood up and left the hotel.
Meanwhile later that day, Eleks went to Atraka hotel to obtain the CCTV recordings. Of course, it was a difficult task but he has been in the business of investigation for long and he knows exactly what to do. The man in charge of security at the hotel had initially refused to release the vital videos, insisting that it was a breach of security.
“What were you thinking before coming to make such a request? You actually believed I would release these videos to you? You want me to expose secrets of hotel visitors?” The security man asked. His uniform was coloured blue, just like the colour of the painting used on the hotel. He is a bit old and looked like a retired soldier who has grown up children to feed. He does not look like someone who is well paid, so from his appearance, Eleks concluded that the man can be bought.
“Here is N200,000 for you sir. Please, copy the videos into this hard drive. I need you to do this fast because it is a matter of life and death. If I don’t have access to these videos in few hours, someone might die.” Eleks said confidently as he shoved the money and hard drive into the security man’s hand.
“Please, wait for me at the reception. Come back within one hour for the videos.” The security man said. There were no more arguments because the N200k he received made him happy and softened his heart.
“Money answereth all things and so says the Bible.” Eleks said to himself as he went away to wait happily like a lark.
Soon, he went back and collected the hard drive and drove home with speed. He booted his laptop and started watching the videos. It spaned several months and he had to fast-forward some areas to save time. He discovered that Chief Egbe lodged in the hotel every weekend with a different side chick. Each of the videos showed how he stepped out of his car and enterd the hotel with different ladies each time. But he never saw a video where he he stepped out of a car with Amaka.
However, one of the cameras placed at the back of the hotel captured something interesting. The back of the hotel has a deep rectangular hole that has waste in it. He zoomed the video and found that it is a big dump stand. Amaka who is the hotel cleaner was seen in the video as she arrived at the dump stand with a basket to dump some trash.
But before she dumped the trash, she picked out a stuff that looked like a balloon and quickly put it in her handbag. Eleks zoomed the video and saw that what she picked was a freshly used love-making balloon which still contained male liquid fertilizer.
“That’s it! The truth is finally out.” Eleks shouted when he saw what Amaka did in the CCTV clip. He picked up his phone and called Princess.
“I have reasons to believe that Amaka got herself pregnant by stealing your husband’s male liquid fertilizer and injecting it into her pot of honey. There is a video I will like to show you when we meet tomorrow.” Eleks tells Princess.
That night, Princess could not sleep very well. She was thinking of the length Amaka went so as to get what she wants.
“This is crazy!” She said to herself around 3a.m before she finally slept off.
