Ozonge was getting dragged out of the shrine, and he could tell that wherever he was going to, wasn’t going to be a pleasure house.
He thought of the different things he could do to ensure that he didn’t go down alone, but closed his eyes in rēgrets, recalling that he had expended virtually all his weàpons.
Tafeko’s wife was kicking him as he rolled on the forest ground, and the pàins on his left arm that was almost falling off was making him wish he could take his lifè and save himself the misery.
While Tafeko dragged him, Ozonge noticed the tail of Tafeko’s shrine robe that trailed behind him, and in an instant, he calculated how he could get the tail in his hand, pull hard enough to get Tafeko to fall down.
“When he loses his balance, I should be able to bite him so hard on his throat until I pull out his esophagus” Ozonge thought before he pulled.
Unfortunately for him, the moment he stretched his fingers to catch the tail of the dangling part of the robe, his wife dished out a warning, causing her husband to turn abruptly.
Ozonge pulled the robe nonetheless, and though Tafeko tried so hard to gain his balance, Ozonge saw him falling towards him, and to his delight, it appeared he was going to fall on his sword, that had been hanging on his shoulder as he dragged Ozonge
Ozonge pulled the part of Tafeko’s clothing he had in his hand harder, trying so hard to ensure that he got Tafeko where he wanted.
But to his disappointment and annoyance, Tafeko’s wife reacted faster than he had expected of a woman, kicking her husband on his chest, and got him falling on the opposite side, away from him.
Ozonge reacted quickly, trying to get up from the ground, but Tafeko’s wife beat him to it; she was apparently not ready to let him a a way of escape.
She turned around and jumped up so high, landing heavily on the hand that had been cut. One of her legs stood on the severed hand, and the other leg on his chest.
It happened so quick that even before Ozonge realized what was going on, the woman pulled her legs apart, exerting pressure on the little part connecting the hand to Ozonge’s body, as she stamped on the hand and chest.
The little tendrils of flesh that held the severely cut hand to his shoulder, couldn’t withstand the pressure from the stamping.
It gave way, and Ozonge’s hand got totally severed from his body, causing him to screám uncontrollably following the excruciating pains his brain registered.
Ozonge’s brain cells registered the pains and though he fought so hard against it, his system was shutting down as a result of the high level of pains he felt from the point his hand had been before.
He heard Tafeko talking about not letting him dië an easy deãth before everything blacked out.
Tafeko and his wife pulled the now very heavy body of the most dêspicable chief priest ever, to the great tree, where sacrifices were made and tied him to it.
Elsewhere, chief Scot was talking with his wife who seemed very troubled and anxious to know what he meant by the parables he was making
He had been silent since this daughter left, and it was obvious his silence was making Stephanie seemed to lose her mind.
“You have been talking Stephanie, and I decided to ignore you all these while because I really do not wish to speak to you now. I ha e to see Tafeko before I know what to do next.
“Stephanie, for twenty one years, you made me live with another man’s child, made me go through all the storms with you, imagining that you have been true to me.
“You even made me feel guilty for so many years, when in fact, all that Tafeko said about you and your lineage is true
“So, I ask you Stephanie, where goes all the love? Where goes all the promises to never keep things from each other?
“And you even made me so blind that I doubted a great chief priest like Tafeko, and nearly made a mess of my own life.
“How could you Stephanie? How could you look me in the eyes, all these years and still confess love for me, when you knew exactly what you did back in the shrine with the cûrsed Ozonge?” he asked her, his face a mask of horrôr
“Honey, you’re sounding like you have been sneaking behind my back doing some unimaginable things.
“Why do I feel like you have been doing things you never should have been doing?
“And what is it that Tafeko talked about my lineage that you didn’t believe?” Stephanie asked.
“Stephanie, what I asked is how you could keep something so huge from me, when you know that I have been working so hard to ensure that the troubles we went through before I was able to marry you, or the fact that, just like everyone else in your lineage, you have been able to give me just a daughter, affect our love life
“How did you feel, knowing that another man’s child was calling me father all these while and you weren’t having any hopes of giving birth to another that would be mine?” he asked his wife.
“I’m sorry Scot, but you know a lot of things are beyond me.
“And even now, there are things I cannot speak about, neither can I affirm or deny your claims of being Tracy’s biological father.
“If you love me Scot, if you ever felt anything for me, you will let this matter lie, and forget that, that silly daughter of mine squeaked way too much for her own good” Stephanie said, looking very worried.
“Oh! So I’m supposed to do what now? Walk into my room and wait for you to prepare a meal for us, then we continue the marriage like nothing happened?
“Is this what you’re saying? Stephanie not only did you get another man’s child into my house, you were prepared to let me live and transit to the great beyond without a child of my own!
“Is this what love means to you?” Scot asked her, his eyes blazing hot.
“I have told you Scot. I am not in position to answer these questions because answering them will be tantamount to accepting or refuting the accusation.
“And my dear husband, one of the major conditions for retaining the potency of the ritual the last Ozonge performed to keep me safe from the tôrments of Uloma’s voice, was to ensure that I never mentioned what happened in the shrine.
“I was made to swear an ôath of secrecy, and I know that the moment I say a word about what happened there, I am deåd” Stephanie said.
“I see! You will dië the moment you speak about what happened there, and Tracy failed to dië after she told her man about the plans to defile her.
“She stayed alive, and in fact, Bruce managed to look really too great, after going to the shrine before the concluding gong was sounded.
“Oh, and I even heard that he killêd the evïl bird that hovered around Ozonge’s shrine, yet he didn’t diè.
“Face it Stephanie, you never loved me. You never felt anything close to love for me, or you would have expressed it, just like Tracy did.
“And, I am so happy to know that truly, that child isn’t mine, because it is a confirmation that I haven’t done anything wrong against her” Scot said.
“What do you mean you haven’t done anything wrong against her?
“What did you do Scot? What did you do to my daughter?” Stephanie asked, her eyes widening in fear and anxiety.
“I know I shouldn’t have done it Stephanie, and I have been feeling really guilty all these years for doing what Tafeko asked me to do to her, but I have just been vindicated. She is truly not my daughter
