“I..” I bit my lips not knowing what to say. I looked at Derek maybe he could say something, maybe he could come up with a lie or manipulate them cause that’s what he knows how to do best.
“Will somebody talk, Dove what’s Taylor talking about? What’s up between you and Derek?” Mom eyes is fired at me but I don’t say anything.
Taylor sighed and dropped her fork. “Let me just tell them because you can’t hide it forever” I look at Taylor with pleading eyes but there was no remorse in them.
“Mom, Aunt Lauren” She gives them a look.
“Taylor!” Derek calls sharply but she paid def ears.
“Derek and Dove are seeing each other” She dropped the news and I can swear my mom eyes almost popped out of its socket.
“They are what?” Aunt Maggie sharp eyes looked in between me and then Derek. “I can’t believe this, Derek how could you let this happen!?” She yelled at him.
Is this how serious they are against us being with each other? I’ve never seen Aunt Maggie yell at Derek before.
Derek grip on his knife tightened. “I just couldn’t help it”
“You couldn’t…” Mom wanted to snap at him but she couldn’t complete it. She flashed me a look of disappointment before standing up and leaving the table.
This is the angriest I’ve ever seen mom looked since dad died. I might have scroll things up… Again!
Aunt Maggie was the next to stand up. “Derek you better stop whatever is going on, I’m very sure you know what you’re getting yourself into when you get into this. You’re a fucking adult Derek, you know what’s on ground and you still had to get in with her!” She tells him.
What’s going on? What’s on ground and what are they keeping from me?
“I’m sorry mom” Derek sounds pained.
“You just didn’t have any self control left with you don’t you?” Aunt Maggie shook her head at him, feeling disappointed before she walks away.
Derek is the next to stand up and leave the Taylor. It’s left with just me and Taylor. I hope she’s happy now.
“Look I’m really sorry, I didn’t know when it slipped out I swear” Hearing Taylor apologizing to me just made my anger risen. I looked up at her in, not pleased.
“You just had to rat us out didn’t you. I told you countless times that we’ve ended things after that night you caught us. Why did you have to make this more hard” I yell at her.
I’m expecting her to yell back and say things and try to defend herself even when she’s at fault because that’s something she knows how to do best but she didn’t. I’m quite surprised on how she humbled herself, seems like she’s finally starting to take the own of something when she’s wrong.
I have nothing else to say to her so I stood up and left the table. On my way to my room, I caught Derek standing at the balcony and staring at the summer view. He looks sad, in as much as I’m worried about myself I’m worried for him the most, he practically took all the blame for us because he’s older.
After all that has happened would I still cause Derek over everyone? In mouth I say no but my mind, my heart, my body, soul and everything inside me screams yes. Derek is really got a hold on me and I can’t seem to escape him, I can’t free myself from his leash.
As if he felt someone looking at him, he turned to my direction and I immediately looked away. I wanted to enter the room but his voice stops me.
“Dove!”
There it goes, he calls my name and my everything around me just stops like he’s got a super power.
“I know I might be crazy to ask but are you still willing to come with me?” He asks me.
I looked left and right. He’s not talking to me is he?
“But our moms..” Why am I even stuttering? I’ve long decided that I’m not going anywhere with him.
“This is me choosing you over everything Dove, even if we are standing in the middle of an earthquake, when all the buildings are crumbling down into pieces, I will still choose you Dove, everything” he told me.
I can’t believe this? His words, the intensity of his eyes as he spoke to me. He really meant what he’s saying and I’m certain of that. He wants to make me hop on his back and run away with him but I know what’s as stake if I do and I can’t risk it.
If there’s an earthquake and I’m standing in the middle of buildings collapsing then I’d choose to save myself. “I’m not going with you Derek, sorry” I forced those words out of my mouth and find my way back to my room.
I don’t want to look back, I can still feel him there, he’s waiting, he’s standing and hoping I’ll change my mind within seconds and run jump on his arms but I’m not going to do that, I’ll try not to do that.
I entered the room and slammed the door on his face then backed it and slowly slipped down, this is for the better, I tell myself and I’ll keep on telling myself until I believe it.
