Precious’s pregnancy was getting bigger and bigger day by day.
Meanwhile, pressure was on Kelechi to come home and pay Precious’s bride price. As his people were on his neck. Likewise that of Precious’s people.
At some point, KC had to succumb to the pressure. He had to travel home and pay Precious’s bride price.
The whole thing was done in complete secrecy. Apart from Bright, nobody else was aware of KC’s secret marriage. Not even Martha.
KC frowned at the whole thing. Although It was not as if he was not happy for the marriage. Just that the urgency of the whole thing was out of his plan. He had planned to get rid of Martha out of his life entirely before finally settling down with Precious. As he wanted a loud marriage. But be that as it may, he was still happy that he finally married Precious.
Meanwhile, KC left Precious at the village. He intended to bring her to Lagos after she must have been put to bed. By then, he must have finally cut ties with Martha.
No doubt, when a woman loves, she loves with all her heart and foolishly. That was the case of Martha. She loved KC foolishly. And despite all she had passed through in the hand of KC, she still had a soft heart for him. Ije love! In fact, if KC showed up tomorrow and proposed marriage to Martha, she wouldn’t think twice before saying yes to his proposal. Not that Martha was in desperation or because of her ill-fate, no, it was because she still loved him so much.
One fateful Sunday, KC paid a visit to Martha to check up on her.
So as they were deep in discussion, one thing led to another, they ended up on the bed.

‘This is an opportunity for you to break up with her. Tell her your mind. Be open and truthful to her..’, one voice was telling him at that moment.
‘You don’t have to be in a hurry. It has to be a gradual process. Don’t be too direct to her so you wouldn’t do more damage to her health. You have already done more harm than good..’, another voice advised KC.
KC decided to heed to the latter.
‘Hey, we shouldn’t be talking about this now. Because there is nothing to talk about us. After all, nothing happened between us…,’ KC swiftly tried to wave off the topic. And planted a passionate kiss on her forehead.
‘A lot had happened between us. The doctor said my womb is damaged. And ever since then, you have been distancing yourself from me. I know the reason you are close to me these days is because of my mental health. You are doing all this out of pity,’ she paused. Then used her hand to clean her tears. ‘Even when I am super complete as a woman, you still have eyes outside, not to talk of now that I am incomplete. ‘Hey,’ KC broke the silence. ‘Please let me take you out tonight. Let’s go and have fun. It has been a long time since we had an outing,’ KC said.
‘If you are thinking I will say no, I will not. At least, let me enjoy you while it lasts. I am all yours tonight, KC’, Martha bravely said, having put herself together already.
They had a bath together.
Martha dressed up and they left to go have fun.
Despite how hard KC tried stopping Martha from taking alcohol that night, she still drenched her memory with alcohol.
Martha became drunk to the extent that she couldn’t walk on her own without help. In fact, it was KC that even carried her into the vehicle.
‘KC, you don’t know me. You don’t know what I have become. I am not that girl you used to know. A lot had changed about me,’ she paused. ‘For your information, alcohol has become my companion throughout this ill-fated journey of mine. Likewise marijuana. These two things are what’s helping me to forget my sorrows. They are the things that’s keeping me going in this life. I am already addicted to them. And please don’t think of preaching to me because you have no moral justification to do so. Because you are the one that put me into this condition. And you have left me to die in it. But let me disappoint you, I will not die. I will live. Thank goodness I am learning to live with my fate..,’ Martha was drunkenly pouring out her mind so raw as KC drove her home.
Meanwhile, KC, on the other hand, was drunk too but not as bad as Martha. So he was in his right senses in the steering.
They got home successfully.
That night, Martha didn’t allow KC to go home. She pleaded with him not to leave her that night.
So, KC spent the night in Martha’s place.
It was a weird and cràzy night they had together. As they made lóvé to as many as they could.
