“Mom?” I called in surprise. “What are you doing here?”

Mom didn’t smile at me, she’s giving me that serious mom look and it looked scarier but I’m not going to back down. She lied to me and stopped me from doing what I want, she’s selfish.

Angrily, I added. “You shouldn’t have come here, how did you even find us?”

“I tracked your last call with Taylor” She shrugged.

Taylor!?

“You called Taylor?” Derek looks at me with surprise eyes.

Can’t I trust that girl for anything at all. First she rat on me then I figured she lied to me and she rat on me again. Damn you Taylor! Really damn you.

“She kept calling me” I mutter.

“And I told you to block everyone” Derek frowns.

“I didn’t think her calls with me were planned up. I thought it was harmless” I’m about to start crying and Derek is about to reach out to me when the officer stops him.

“Your restraining order starts now. You’re not to touch her or have any conservation with her until she turns eighteen and you’d be strictly watched!” The officer says.

“What’s with law and love, I love her!” Derek face is hard, his breathing is a bit heavy.

“Tell her that when she’s old enough, my daughter is still go young and in highschool. She can’t be seen with someone like you” Mom looks at Derek head to toes. “You’d be 21 this year, she just hit 16, you are a college drop out for absolute no reason, you have tattoos, you bring girls home, you smoke. You might be your mother’s son but you’re everything I reject for my daughter. You can’t bring her good in her life. You’re a bad influence” Mom says to him with so much disdain.

“Don’t talk to Derek like that mom, he might be bad but he’s decent, something you’re not!” I yell and mom looks at me like she wants to slap me but she dare not do this in front of the officers.

“It’s about time we go back home, for good” Mom reach out to grab me and Derek grab my other hand.

“She’s not going anywhere Aunt Lauren, with all due respect and if you don’t want me to blab to the corps how you slept with my mother then fucking let her go!” He looks at mom with angry eyes.

I’ve never seen Derek this angry.

“The law isn’t against LGBT and seems like you want to get arrested. Let go of my daughter this instant!” Mom flashes him a warning tone.

“Hell no! She’s fucking mine! She belongs with me!” I can hear the possession in Derek’s voice. He didn’t care that he’s going to go to jail, he wants me and I want him too.

I push from my mom and ran to Derek’s arms and he hugs me so tight. He didn’t want to let me go and I don’t want to let him go either. If the world was ending, I’d choose Derek over and over till death do us apart.

“Don’t let them take me” I cry, wetting his shirt.

Soon I felt like I was being dragged my strong arms but I won’t move however I can’t match them. I was pulled and sent back to my mother.

“Dove!!” Derek tried to run pass the officer but they blocked his path, he made an attempt to hit one but his hands were caught and was twisted behind his back then pushed on his knees.

“Derek!” I shouted. I don’t know why his nose was bleeding. “Derek!” I cried out but my mom kept pulling me with her.

“I promise you Dove, I’d find you no matter how long it takes!!” I heard Derek voice before I was pushed inside my mom’s car.

Inside the car, I kept looking out the window while my mom drive. She just dragged me from the arms of the love of my life. She’s my biggest enemy right now.

“I know you hate me for what I did” I heard her voice. I don’t know which one she’s talking about maybe it’s the dating of Derek’s mom or filing a restraining order against Derek but either way, I hate her!

“I did everything for your own good sweetie. Derek is too old for you and besides he’s a bad example. You’re supposed to be seen with people that would influence your life in a good and not bad way. You should be seen with upcoming lawyers, artist, doctors not someone who smokes and is a college drop out”

“The man you’re ruining your life for has giving up his future for God knows what. Look at your father, he was an addict, smoking, doing drugs and died but-”

“I’m very sure he became an addict the moment he found out you were into women. You cheated on Dad, you killed him!!” I yell and mom angrily stopped the car.

“I never cheated on your father. I only found out I was into women after he died. Maggie understood me so much, I thought we were just bonding cause we both lost our husband but with time, we realize how deep it was”

Tears left my eyes.

“You lied to me for years and you want to stop my happiness. I don’t care how bad Derek influence my life but I will be with him, I promise. I don’t care about you and Aunt Maggie but Derek is my life unless one of us dies, I’d never give up!” I tell her before looking out the window.

Mom stares at me in silence for a while before driving again.

I can’t believe I’m not just going against my mother but I’d be fighting with my mother for the sake of a boy who everyone considers as a bad influence to me.
