Echo looked up, fear and anger flashing through her. She stood, for a moment, staring defiantly back at him, then took to her heels.

Francisco who was moving in an exaggerated way just to show that he was offended, balled his wrist tightly and pursued her. He had a very horrendous look on his face, one that could scare a person to déath.

Lost in her thoughts, her panicked walking pattern was disrupted as her foot catches on a thick branch, and she fell swiftly face first into a small rock.

“Ouch” She moaned as she felt an intense spike of pain on her head. Dazed, she lifted herself up from the ground and dusted herself off.

Her left eyelid closed automatically as blood rolled down the top of her face. She wiped her face with her white handkerchief, soaking the cotton a blackish red instantly.

The shock dispersed and pain sets in, sharp agony mixed with a strange tingling sensation on her forehead.

Behind her, francisco was still fuming heavily. He dipped his fingers into his hair and ruffled it angríly.

Nobody has ever disrespected him in this manner before, and all of a sudden a newbie shows up and do just that??.

“Dumbie!” His stinging voice came again and he added to his pace, but someone suddenly yanked him and they both fell to the ground.

In the next minute, he was lying on the floor, with a masked person on top of him.

Echo sprinted down the road, wondering what had just happened because it was a miracle that she was even alive.

Options played over in her head of who saved her life, but all of her answers were unrealistic.

She had reached the apartment and fumbled her way through the door, while trying to fish for the spare set of keys her mother had given her, out of her pocket.

Finally, she retrieved them and gently pushed the door open. She dropped her backpack on the floor and ran to the kitchen, only to meet her mother and father there.

“Ewwww!!” Echo used her hands to cover her eyes as she caught them smooching. They broke whatever they were doing and turned to look at her.

“Good afternoon mom and dad!” She greeted, inhaling the fresh scent of the turkey her mom was frying. She licked her lips, drooling like a baby.

“Good afternoon, Princess. Tell me about the best part of your day. What was the hardest thing you had to do today? Did any of your classmates do anything funny? What rules are different at your new school than our rules at home? Do you think they’re fair? Who did you sit with at lunch? Did you make new friends?” Robert bombarded her with so many questions, that she had to inhale and exhale for good two minutes.

She moved closer to them and wrapped her hand around her dad’s waist, pulling him out of darby’s hold.

The fake smile on darby’s face fell, and her lips danced in anger as she watched echo lead him to the living room.

“Daddy…. have i told you that you’re the best daddy in the whole wide world?” Echo said and sat on his laps.

“Where do you want to go to?” Robert asked.

Whenever she begins to say sweet things to him, then that means she needs something from him….And it’s definitely to go out.

“Am a bit exhausted today. When you get back from school tomorrow, i’ll take you and your sisters okay??” Robert replied.

“Awwwwn thanks dad. You’re the best” Echo gasped and quickly stood up from his laps, jumping up and down happily like a two year old.

….NEXT DAY…

Echo rushed downstairs with her cardie in her hand, one leg of her shoe in her mouth as she held it with her teeth and her hair was scattered all over her face. Her backpack is in the other hand.

She dashed through the parlor, rushing towards the door, ignoring her mother like the plague.

“Echo!” Darby shouted, already pissed. She has been waiting for her to come downstairs and help with the cooking, and now she’s about to leave without doing any chores.

The bell rang and the students began to troop out.

There was a long pause, during which francisco was trying to keep his sánity in check. The girl before him was driving him núts, which is not good for his mental health.

One day she’s all scared and the next, she’s really bold. Like where the fúck did they get her from?.

“We’ll be using my house, don’t even thinking about messing with me, else you’ll face the consequences of your actions” He said, taking slow steps towards her and she narrowed her eyes.

“Huh?? Really?? I can’t wait to see what your bedroom looks like, your reading area. Gaaaaaaawd!!! Am so excited” Echo exclaimed.

….FRANCISCO’S CONDO:3PM….

Though Francisco spends most of his time in his parents house, but he comes here seldomly.

….FIVE MINUTES LATER….

Echo fell on the bed, breathing heavily and sweating all over. She suddenly felt the urge to pee.

“Thank goodness! There’s a bathroom!” She eased a sigh of relief and opened the door. There was a huge bathtub in the middle of the room, a toilet and a wash-hand basin. The tub was filled with water that was mixed with soap.

“Bubbles!” She exclaimed and dipped her hands into the water. She accídently slipped on water and came falling into the water.

Her hand came in contact with something long, hard and slippery. Out of curiosity, she began to pull it.

Francisco who had buried himself inside the tub raised his head up as he felt movements in the water. His eyes grew to the size of a watermelon when he locked gazes with echo.

“What the fúck are you doing?? How did you get here??. I thought i asked you to stay put” He asked, trying to cover his nákedness with his hands.

“Just wait a sec, i need to get the poor innocent worm out of the water before it drowns to déath” Echo hissed and resumed pulling the thing with all the strength she has.
