BASEMENT*
Despite the fact that Adeline lost blood again even more than before, she just couldn’t sit still.
She’s on her feet, backing the wall and staring at the dark.
The basement smells like snow… Like Madden, and she hates it so much.
No single sound except for the crickets and fireflies that are in there with her, and the sound of her dragged breaths.
Her phone has been buzzing in her pocket, but she didn’t even bother to check cos it’s obviously the group chat.
Everyone probably heard about the slap already, and she’s surely getting cooked presently.
She finally got the phone out with a sigh, and instead of checking the group, she turned on the torchlight and checked out the basement thoroughly.
There are several clay bowls, and there are some broken faceless statues scattered on the ground, then on the walls there are scribblings.
She moved closer to the scribblings, and she was surprised that she could read them.
It’s a mute language which can only be understood by mute people, and she understands it because her late father was mute.
She focused more on the scribblings, reading through them.
HELP ME.

That was the only thing scribbled repeatedly in almost every space on the the wall.
“Who wrote this? Is there a mute in the clan?” Adeline muttered, and then the door opened roughly.
Happy that she’s finally getting released, she turned around, but she was shocked to see Poe coming in.
“How are you enjoying your vacation house, Micheal?” She smiled, folding her arms as the door closed behind her.
“Let me go” Adeline replied.
“And who told you I’m here to set you free? You should see how the mobsters are hating on you right now, you slapped Death?” Poe scoffed.
“He did it first” Adeline replied, and she didn’t get a head’s up before Poe’s palm travelled to her face.
She slapped her hard, and Adeline fell against the wall, her back hurting so bad and bleeding more.
“Are you dumb? You think this is the America you came from? This is damn Russia! You’re in a mafia clan! After the Pakhan, Death comes next here, and you were used against him! Do you know how much he hates tools? You should be lucky you only got slapped, but then you slapped him back? I dunno what’s up with him these days cos of it was one month ago, he’d have shot you on the spot and dragged your body to his dogs by himself!” Poe shouted at her face.
Adeline swallowed, her fingers shaking.
“Since he didn’t do that, I’m gonna do it for him” Poe further said.
“What do you…
Adeline couldn’t finish when Poe brought a punch to her face.
Adeline blocked it with her palm, and Poe smiled cos it wasn’t a punch, it’s actually an injection.
Poe already released half into her system through her palm before Adeline could kick it away.
“What was that? What did you inject into me bîtch!” Adeline shouted and tried to stand, but her knees shook, and she fell back.
“Watch how you deteriorate slowly. The wound on your back will speed up the action, and that wound will start spreading till you die in three hours. No one is coming to save you anyways, see you in hell” Poe waved, walking out of the basement.
“Poe! Poe!!!!!” Adeline screamed helplessly on the ground as the door closed.

MANOR*
Madden has been in his office since he arrived.
He has a laptop in front of him which he’s staring at with his attractive glasses on.
His digits were clicking on the desk, a sign of impatience as he stared at the bunch of intel in front of him.
There are millions of them, but none is useful since he has no lead.
He inhaled, removing his glasses before interlocking his fingers, resting his chin on it.
He frowned when he received a new mail, and when he checked to see it’s from The Pakhan, his eyes narrowed.
• Keep Micheal alive and send him to Igor’s team. It’s an order.
Madden almost started laughing in mockery after reading that, but then his head snapped, and the idea came in a wave.
Why hasn’t he thought about this from the start?
A evil smile appeared on his lips, then he left the office, and immediately he stepped into the living room, the noises from outside started coming again.
“Master please pardon Micheal!”.
“Please punish him whichever way you see fit but don’t kill him”
The voices belong to Jinx and Loud, and they’ve been begging outside like this since an hour ago.
He only pretended not to hear, and he’s gonna continue pretending.
The fact that The Pakhan is ordering him not to kill her just made his rage boil to the top, and if Loud and Jinx don’t stop this annoying begging, then he might kill her for real.
He hates hearing people beg, and he hates orders. Both go hand in hand.
As if they can hear her, the begging stopped, and his peace returned cos they went down the mountain afterwards.
He settled on the couch, shutting his eyes and basking in the ominousness casted by the glow of the red lights.
He hasn’t closed his eyes for two minutes before he opened it, getting his phone.
He’s in the group chat, so when he saw the numerous messages, he decided to click, and then he saw the slap video and the hate comments, all calling Micheal a bastard.
He left the chat, dropped the phone beside him and rolled his eyes forward, remembering her bleeding back.
At the same time, he sighted her balm container on the center table, and his brows arched.
He stood and left the living room.

BACK IN THE COMPOUND*
Jinx and Loud returned just now, and Loud led them to Nikolai’s grave where he sat frustratedly and Jinx stood in front of him.
The weather is becoming colder than it should be, and snowflakes are already falling heavily, then the wind is becoming harsh.
Seems there’s gonna be a blizzard.
“I knew he wouldn’t pardon Micheal. Poe is the only one who knows the new basement passcode except boss, and Poe will never tell me” Jinx said.
“If he really kills him, i swear to fûck, I’ll murder myself too” Loud replied seriously.
“Just calm down” Jinx replied.
“He really needs to calm down” Poe joined them, and Loud stood.
“You posted that video on the group” he accused.
“Yeah, I couldn’t have kept such a big news to myself” Poe replied, and Loud moved closer, punching her straight in the face.
“What the fûck!” Poe cursed as she tasted her own blood from her bursted lips.
She tried punching back, but Jinx stood between them.
“Stop it!”
“Get away!” Poe glared.
“Stop it I said!” Jinx glared back.
“You posted the video to make everyone hate him, isn’t it? And you achieved your aim, bitch. More wins, ok? And damn you!” Loud yelled to her face before leaving angrily.
“That bastard!” Poe spat.
“I’m disappointed” Jinx muttered.
“What do you mean?” Poe replied.
“Death brought us into this clan, remember? We were both blind beggars by a roadside in Petersburg where he picked us from, paid for our surgeries and brought us here, he trained us and changed our lives totally. We both know he’s not kind but he still did it. I expect you to try to be kind too even if it’s hard, but seems you’ve forgotten all the years we spent by the roadside. You disgust me right now” Jinx pushed her, and Poe staggered back.
Jinx left angrily too, and Poe laughed awkwardly, sniffling in the cold.
“So what? Hate me all you want! In the end, you’ll see i’m doing this for the two of us” she mumbled.

BASEMENT, 10:30PM*
It’s happening exactly like Poe said.
The wound really started spreading after the injection, Adeline could feel it all-over the skin of her back.
The blizzard happening outside made everything worse cos she’s shaking on the ground already.
Her teeth is clashing, and her skin is changing color to light purple.
Unfortunately for her, she’s not wearing a hoodie or pullover, just her button-up shirt.
She couldn’t even move herself or crawl from her spot, but she was able to move her arm to her phone, taking it from where it fell on the ground.
Her eyes were already blurring when she unlocked it and went to contacts.
There are just three lines on her phone.
Loud, Jinx, and Master.
She dialled the last one, and the line rang for only one second before it was picked.
She gathered he remaining strength to talk, her voice weak…
“Master”
No sound came from the other end, but she’s sure he’s listening.
“I agree I know nothing about how the rules work here, and I’m sorry. I’ll do anything you want as punishment, but… Please save me. I can’t die before I kill Corey. I want to live… I want to” she muttered.
Unluckily for her, the phone went off immediately… Flat battery.
She lost all hope straight, and she started hoping for a sudden miracle.
Can Kimberly just come?
Jinx? Loud?
Can anyone just appear please?
She’s dying fast, and it’s poisonous.
The clicking of the door made her jerk a little, then someone came in.
She can’t see who in the dark, but the footsteps gave her the hint.
Only one person walks that way…
Madden is here.
“Master?” She weakly said, and he crouched beside her body on the ground.
He was actually already behind the door even before she called.
“Thank…yyou” she sniffled through the cold, still not moving an inch.
Madden said nothing as he turned on his phone torchlight, angling it on the wall before tearing off her shirt, revealing the spreading wound on her back.
His eyes beamed with unplanned rage when he beheld it. His insides tumbled, and his jaw clenched
He quickly took off his big leather coat, covering her with it before sweeping her up in a bridal style, into his muscular arms.
Adeline’s arms went wrapped on his neck, and as he began walking out of the basement with her, she could feel fury steaming off his body.
It’s destructive, and she has no idea who it’s directed to.
“Give me a name. One name” he muttered when he got to the door.
Adeline looked into his eyes and was unable to blink before saying the only name in her mind.
“Poe, it’s Poe” she muttered, and silence rented the air as he went down the front stairs, stepping into the blizzard.
“Close your eyes” he suddenly said.
She needs to do that to preserve her energy so she won’t lose consciousness before they’d get to the clinic.
“Why?” She replied powerlessly, adjusting her arms on his neck.
“No damn questions, just close your eyes, Addie” he replied, and she almost couldn’t believe her ears
Addie?
Did he just give her a…nickname???
