She watch his expression to that of pain but when he looked at her, he was angry.

He was trying to get her into it when the police arrive. They got out of their car and point the gun at him.

“Let her go!” The police in charge said to him.

The officers might not understand what he just said but June did but when she tried to stop him, the officer with her didn’t let her go.

“He’s going to do something to himself, you need to….” June stop talking when she saw Ronald jumping off the bridge.

It was too late to stop him and the decision he made that night, ended his life.

“To my mother. I will direct you as we go” June said still feeling tense and as soon as Ronald start the engine, A car came out of nowhere to obstruct it’s path.

Ronald and June watch Damian get out of the car to open the passenger door and pull June out of the car.

“Thanks Ronald but I will take my wife wherever she wants to go” Damian said to Ronald as he walk towards them.

Their car was down the street when Ronald kick his car in anger.

“Mother! Mother! Are you okay?” June ask as she ran into the apartment, hugging her mom.

“I am. What’s wrong?” Ruth ask, starring at Damian who gave a shrug since he knew nothing.

A while later and after telling them about the letter, June knelt in front of her mom, holding onto her hand.

“Please tell me who she is and no lies” June said and Ruth let out a sigh.

“It’s a long story but before I begin, I want you to know that I love you, I love you as if you were my child” Ruth said, caressing June’s face.

“What do you mean by I was your child? Aren’t I one?”

“You aren’t my birth child. I adopted you at an orphanage called Hope orphanage and you were a twin, June” Ruth admit as June stood up, finding Ruth’s revelation a bit shocking.

She had always thought Ruth to be her birth mom and now….Damian took hold of her hand and made her seat beside him on the sofa.

“I wanted a child badly and the doctor told me I had no hope and then I met two identical twins when I went to help at an orphanage home. I could remember back then that you had bruises on your body and I had to force the truth out of the lady in charge of the orphanage”

“She told me that your twin sister, Violet gave you those bruise. I didn’t believe it until I witness it myself, I remember that she had you pin against the wall and while you beg her to stop, she kept choking you, screaming that you die”

“It was a horrid scene. I learnt from the workers there that Violet have always disliked you, she always complain about you having the same face, about you sharing the same things and that she completely want you gone. Each time she hurts you, she always promise to change but go back on her word. I realise then that I had to get you out of there before Violet harm you”

“But when Violet found out, she insisted on coming with me too. She wanted me to adopt her but I couldn’t…I couldn’t let her harm you. Instead, I offer to take her to an hospital where she will get treatment and she agreed back then. Everything was prepared for her to go get her treatment and we thought that things will work but Violet had something else in mind”

“She started a fire and lock you two up in the room. You were injured in your head when we got you out but Violet….she was nowhere to be found”

“We did our best to look for her but all to no avail and when you woke up after being in a coma for a week, you forgot everything including your name. Your father and I left the city and came here to live with you, to start afresh and then we had Nathan. You two are a blessing to me and I will never ever trade you for anything or anyone”

“If Violet is after me then let her. She must have been angry that I chose you instead of her and so….if she wants to harm me then let her but I won’t tolerate it if she touch you” Ruth finish hotly.

June left her seat and went to give Ruth a hug.

“I love you mom and I appreciate you for everything you’ve done for me and you will always be my mom, you wilk forever be my mom” June said and Ruth tighten her arms around her.

While Damian and Ruth spoke in the sitting room, June went to Nathan’s room to make a call.

“So? Has Ruth told you everything” Violet shrill voice came down the line.

“She has and you did a great job at scaring earlier”

“I wasn’t scaring you. I really wanted to do it but I had to control myself for RJ sake” Violet return.

“RJ? Do you work with RJ and Wayne?” June ask.

“Wayne? I don’t know who the hell that is but RJ, I do know him and I know that he’s someone who desperately wants you. If it were up to me, I would have kill you along with Ruth but am only holding back for his sake” Violet said.

“Let’s meet” June found herself saying.

“Gosh! I was about to say that too but if we meet it will be on my term. Are you that desperate for us to meet each other?” Violet ask.

“Good then. If you want us to meet soon,let’s do it on your husband birthday. I know he will be having a party and so, we will do it that day” Violet said and end the call.

“Happy birthday sleepy head” The voice came into his ear and Damian smile and open his eyes, expecting it to be June but he was disappointed to see Mitchell.

“Your disappointed that I’m not June, right. Does that mean that am the first to greet you a happy birthday, this goes to show how good of a wife I will make if you marry me” Mitchell said softly.

“I am married already” Damian told her.

Unknown to them, Mitchell stood at the doorway listening in on their conversation. The arrival of Damian younger sister got her leaving in a hurry.

As soon as she got to her car, she made a call to Ronald.

Damian smiled nervously, not use to being around two angry women, he quickly went to get change.

When he return, Teresa was gone leaving just June.

“I hope that when the rain stop, you get going” June said.

For next half an hour, June did her best to focus on the novel she’s reading but she kept thinking at Damian who is still in the sitting room.

She could barely register the brief knock when Teresa came rushing in.

“It’s Damian” she said, a worried look on her face.

June got to the sitting room to see him curled up on the sofa, shaking and sweating.

“I think he’s catch a cold” Teresa said and quickly, June went to get a towel which she soak with water to place it on his forehead while Teresa brought drugs.

With the drug and the compress, he was still shaking and that got the two girls taking him to June room.

“Why don’t you get into bed with him. Your warm temperature might help stop the shaking” Teresa suggest and reluctantly, June got into bed with him.

Wrapping her arms around him and immediately, his arms came around her.

“Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m just trying to help you” June mutter while he said nothing.

Hours went by and his shaking died down, June who hadn’t fallen asleep turn in his arms to check his temperature.

Knowing he will be fine without her warmth, she stood up to leave but Damian pull her back, wrapping his arms around her.

“Forgive me. I know it’s the last thing you want to hear from me but it’s the only thing I can say to you. I didn’t trust you and I said cruel things and right now you must hate me for it but know that I hate myself more” he said softly.

June had her back turned on him and as gently as she could, she turn to stare at him.

His eyes were close but he wasn’t asleep, she was about to say something when he beat her to it.

“I love you, June. I love you so much” it came out as a whisper but June heard it.

“Damian” she call and lightly touch his arm but he had gone back to sleep and June had no choice but to save whatever she was going to say.

Damian woke to find his fever and June gone. He could swear that she slept beside him last night.

“Oh! Your awake. Come and eat breakfast” Teresa said and walk off before he could ask a thing.

In the confine of her car, she watch him go into an hotel and sneakingly went after him.

They were well into the highway when, Damian saw the restaurant he had seen June leaving with a guy.

Just like the other day, the traffic light was on red and the driver had no choice but to wait.

Damian focus was on the restaurant, hoping that what he saw yesterday was just a mistake but he was surprise to see June with the same guy of yesterday.

“Stacey, take a look at the restaurant on your right, do you recognize the lady going in with that guy?” Damian ask.
